Hello There Clammers!
A bit after 10pm PDT, the toy change FINALLY occurred. We’ve gone from collecting Giraffes to collecting Octopus…
Same rules/tasks apply. Send Peter, Chris, Bruce & Quagmire on 4hr tasks to earn the Octopus. They WILL drop each time they complete the task.
The end time for this toy is 10pm PDT tomorrow….so that’s 10pm PDT on 7/20/14, 1am EDT on 7/21/14 & 6am BST on 7/21/14 (0500GMT for our friends that aren’t in those time zones). Basically 24hrs from when the toy changed.
There are a few things we can confirm with this toy change…
-IF you have a character on a task to earn this toy and the toy changes before they complete the task, the new toy will fall from the character when the task is complete.
-If you’re having trouble getting the box to come up…go into your shopping cart and go to the featured tab. The box should be there if you have enough toys (6,14 & 24).
-You cannot win doubles from the box. Once you’ve won an item it will disappear. HOWEVER….if you already have an item (if you purchased it) you can win it again in the box. ie if you purchased a Koi Pond for District 7, you can also win one in the box. But once you win it, it will disappear.
-There’s an ongoing glitch with the Salon once you win Rupert, that allows you to place unlimited Salons. We’ve alerted TinyCo about this & are waiting for an answer on it…as soon as we have it we’ll let you know.
-Currently, we don’t know if Rupert will be available for clams after the event is over. I know he shows up on Facespace as a character you buy, but as of right now we don’t know if he’ll be available. Once we have an answer on it we’ll let you guys know.
-There’s an known error that sometimes pops up with the box that says Child Unlock…if that happens it will close your game, but you should be able to start it right back up and do the box with out a problem.
So that about does it my friends. Same tasks, new toy.

Why would they put a bar showing if you get 24 toys you win rupert when that is not how it works. I have gotten 24 toys I used clams so the people would finish all there actions so I could get him now I am kinda over the game cause I wasted all the clams that I had bin saving my butt off to get please tell tiny co to please fix this problem so others don’t have the same thing happen and I no others who did the same thing I feel really ripped off

I can understand where you may have been a lil confused by that. What you saw was just the image used for the Tea Party and Box Prizes. Letting you know how far along you were on the Tea Party toy acquiring for the day. Once you collected all 24 for that day and maxed out the bar, you couldn’t get any more toys until the game reset for the new day and new 3 parties/24 toys. So that is all the bar was. An accumulation point for each day. I hope that makes better sense.

Well to be honest, i opened 12 boxes and thats the max i got Rupert from box 12th how stupid is that some got it from the start box 1.
Hope is not lost but you will need it to get Rupert.

Thanks Cybersilly, and yes, I am using clams :). I figured since I have the premium characters so I can get my clams back is good. Got 48 left :P! I hope this means I only need two more boxes tomorrow! I’m putting them on that quest right now! I’m a hardcore Family Guy fan so King Butt wasn’t that bad but since Rupert is actually in the show I need him! I have seen his tasks and I am yet to unlock Stewie. I hope they add more tasks in the future!

I agree…need more tasks. I still need Rupert too…..but I too spend a few clams to guarantee that last box. I’ll have one more shot tonight…if no luck….then tomorrow he’ll be in my town, causing trouble (also waiting for me to unlock his pal). Good luck….let me know when he pops out of the box. 🙂

I have been having problem that every so often that after I have set the characters for tasks or collected all money from buildings, then when I hit the ‘home’ button from iPad to leave the game, the games seems to be close down in funny way(quit too fast) and when I go back to the game everything I did was undone. How can I avoid this happen? Anyone had the same problems?

Have you tried to just back out, trigger Ollie to pop up and ask if you want to leave, then wait a min or two before shutting your device down after out of game to allow sync?

Good evening. I have experienced a weird time shift. My toys all changed at 23:00 GMT 20 July and it was said not until 0500 21 July on this site. What’s going on? Is someone able to enlighten me about this occurrence?

Canada. mountain time in Alberta, so -7:00 UTC. i mixed up GMT with mountain time zone. Still it changed toys a 2300 instead of the scheduled 0500

It was correct then. 2300 (11:00 PM) mountain time is 2200 (10:00 PM) PDT which is 0500 GMT. Just be ready for tonight. They will switch in about an hour and a half. It sometimes takes until 12-17 minutes past the hour to update. 🙂

Every night at 10:00PM PDT (well, more like 10:16 😉 ). They want to use timers. They tried it out during the Full Moon event. But, for some reason, it keeps messing up games (so they pulled it out of the event). So now they just post the static time. I too hope they figure out the programming, I really like timers also.

well, i finally got rupert on my 2nd box after getting herberts ice cream truck from the 1st one! now i just gotta decide if i wanna keep playing & go after some of the other stuff in the box i don’t yet have. oh, i also got 100 free clams for getting rupert since i already have the other 4 premium characters & he completes that set.

I’m soooo slow in collecting items for the tea party. Weekends are not usually the time I spend on mobile gaming. Lol. I already won falconer peter last thursday but up until 30 minutes ago I only managed to open 2 tea party boxes (I’m THAT slow!!) and won the ale truck and gold digger island. With about an hour to go before they change item and I was at 12 octopus and thought what the heck, lets rush 2 of the tasks to have another chance at the box. And for 16 clams, I won rupert!!! Lol. He’s chit chatting on the phone now. But I guess the tanning salon glitch is already gone? I can only place 1 in my town.

I’ve just been speeding the Stewie Topiary up at the end of the day to pick up what I lack. I’m going to feel mighty foolish if Rupert is purchasable for a lower price after this event. >_< However, I think getting the Lobster Shanty and other premium items from this is a good deal nonetheless. Wish my game wouldn't have crashed on the first night when I unlocked him. 😛

It’s your choice, of course, but since they aren’t going anywhere, and trying for Rupert only cost a little time, why not give it until the end of the event. You never know, luck could be waiting for you in the next box. Just save your clams this time. 🙂

Even if you get 24 of the toys (I got 24 toys), you still do not get Rupert. This is the type of stuff that makes me skeptical of this game. They gave me spotlights, but no Rupert after several hours of play. I will never spend real money on this game until it becomes more consistent.

Two days down and five prizes so far Billboard, Fountain the first day, today Koi pond, Spotlight and now..Ice Cream Truck.. Know I will not get one of the prizes and am hoping it is the island. That being said I am surprised so much outrage…while a similar game only releases on update every month or so we have gotten small to big updates the past 5 or 6 Fridays..while that same similar game released a chance to BUY old skins or characters..tinyco released to win 12 items for nothing…and its on you if you want to try to get them…and if you just did minimum you will get 8 random items out of this. so for those of you calling this a money grab..it is if you choose to spend it and those who don’t think the free prizes are up to par…do you not understand the whole point to this is to give you a very high chance to win a new character….a creepy character..but a free character just the same. …okay so this was a bit of a where I stand and a bit of a WTH lol. but yes I am a freemium player and I will be getting 11 of 12 gifts without dropping a clam

Need advice. Im west coast. The new day game starts over for me in 2.5 hrs.
Currently have 19 octopuses.
Should I just wait til after 10 pm (10:01 or later to be safe) and then go back to collect the new animals that will be dropped so I will be 4 up on the new task or wait it out and hope for a time glitch or something to end up with 24?.
I have 3 guys going at same time and 1 guy 1 hr before them.

you can start them all before the 10pm time and then when they’re complete they’ll drop the new item (if it’s after 10). This will give you a little bit of a head start on collecting 🙂

If you don’t want to spend clams rushing those tasks, your best bet is to wait until the TOY changes in the bottom right corner. You don’t want to harvest toys at 10:00-10:30 just in case it’s still Tentacools. Make sure the toy has changed and you will certainly have a leg up for that specific day.

There will be a toy change in 4 1/2 hours tonight, then one Monday night. So, 6 more boxes to open if you are using clams to assist (which I believe you are). Sounds like you have opened your 3 for today, already. So short answer long….lol…yes! 😉

This is the dumbest event yet. Not knowing what time the prize changes is stupid. Why is the time not in GMT. My timezone is EST which is GMT+10 I have no idea what PDT is.
All I have managed to get so far is 3 useless decorations that I already had. More crap in my inventory that will never be used

The toy changes at 10:00 PM PDT (Pacific Daylight Time) which is 1:00 AM EDT (Eastern Daylight Time) which is 0500 GMT (Greenwich Mean Time). Hope this helps out. 😉

Why don’t they put times in GMT? Not everyone knows every timezone whereas GMT is a global standard. I think that means my prizes change at 15:00EST. Makes life even more difficult.

My guess is because they are based in California, thus they use our (yes, my home also) local time zone. Many have just as much (if not more) trouble calculating their local time from GMT (World Time). Especially when their local time has changed due to “Daylight Savings Time”. Now, where I’m slightly confused, you say your local zone is EST (Eastern Standard Time). Without posting your address of course, do you live on the east coast of the US or Canada? If so, the toys change at 1:00 AM (it’s called EDT not EST currently because of daylight savings time).

I am on the east coast of Australia so its EST (GMT+10). Its winter so no daylight saving which would be EDT (GMT+11). I also spend a lot of time in the ICT (GMT+7) timezone so using the global standard of GMT/UTC would make a lot of peoples life easier

It’s just TinyCo’s way of doing things. They’re a relatively small company & they’re making changes and adjustments as the game progresses and they get feedback from players. The timing right now might have more to do with their tech guys than anything. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if they change over the GMT at some point.
However…dude. This is a friendly space. The backward country comment is NOT needed. It’s completely disrespectful to Americans & not cool. No one is insulting your country (or you), so that aspect of the comment just not needed.

Question: If it takes 24 toys to open the last box, how is this possible? At the most you’ll get 4 toys every 4 hours. That means you have to do it 6 times. 6×4 hours = 24 hours = a new toy comes in play. It’s physically impossible to get 24 toys in a day, isn’t it?

You are correct. On paper, it adds up…but in execution it does not. Notice that TinyCo no where guarantees that all players will open every box. I see them more saying (through event setup)…
“Here is an event that all can play. It will cost you nothing but your time. If you choose to save your clams, you can get at least two boxes a day for some cool prizes and a chance for Rupert. If you choose to use some clams, you will open an extra box each day and a better chance to win Rupert.”
Personally IMHO, not counting the time change blunder, this is the best event they have held. They have many prizes that a lot of players don’t own yet. They don’t duplicate a prize thus increasing your odds for the “exclusive” prize (Rupert). I know many will compare this game to it’s close cousin, TSTO (I too was once firmly in that camp), but now I’m trying to accept this game for it’s own strengths and merits (warts and all). 😉

I agree though, this was a very solid event despite the obvious confusion. I was bitter at first because after seeing all the posts, it seemed there was a clam-spending panic before noon PDT, then again at 10 PDT 😦

This event is awesome! So many premium items to win. I havent got rupert yet but im pretty optimistic about it since the prizes go away after u win them this is very good odds. I did miss the last box yesterday so my luck he will be the only thing I dont get but I cant complain about that because l already got lobster shanty and the pawtucket truck out of it and there is something wrong with anyone who complains about free stuff. I feel bad for the people whk purchased these items though. I plan on spending money on the game eventually but I waiting until ive gotten all the free clams I can get out of the game first. I also got the flower and the icecream truck out of the box but I already had those so its not as exciting.

i dont know if this happened by coincidence but, i have pushed the info buttom of the item i wanted before the purchasing buttom and i have won that item, so i think that is a way to choose the prices

So far I opened 4 boxes and nothing, I might have another chance later tonight for the third party, if I rush them or not. Unless does the toys you already have and unused roll over the next day?

I’m not sure exactly when it happened but I just noticed it when I went into my game I was going to build some more tanning salons but the free salon icon is now gone and I am still in possession of all of the ones I placed yesterday so I don’t know if they fixed the glitch permanently or if it’s just a glitch where the first day that you win the salon you can build unlimited salons
