UPDATE 12/22: Per TinyCo… “The 1.5.5 update for Android is out! It may take a few hours to appear in your store. Once you update, you’ll be able to visit neighbors as normal – and you can tap those pesky Procrastinators, stunning them with your mighty finger.” Also, for those of you having the “Event Ending Prematurely” issue, this should help resolve it. If you still are experiencing it, please email them right away at help@tinyco.com
UPDATE: I have been going back and forth with TinyCo on these issues. They are fully aware of all the different things going on causing the Pop Up. They are working on way to help fix it. Hang in there.
ADDITIONAL UPDATE: For those of you rounding the Profits vs Prophets Part 10, there IS a wording glitch in the dialog. It states to hit Cheer Level 6 and to Upgrade to the Jolly Christmas Tree…however what it SHOULD say is the Festive Christmas Tree, which will be the next Tree Level released. So essentially all players will stop at this point until the Next Tree is released.

Bouncing by with some details and info to help out with an issue we see spreading to players. “Upgrade/Update Game”.
So there are a few things going on and I just want to clarify what is NORMAL to see and what may be an issue.
A patch did hit iOS users for their game. Due to this, players on alternate devices may be impacted in the following ways…
1: If you have Neighbors via Facebook that are on iOS, you will not be able to visit them as they have a newer version of the game. Instead you will see the message telling YOU to update in order to be able to see them. For now, you will have to pass them by.
2: If YOU are on iOS and got the patch, you will not be able to visit players on alternate devices as YOU are on a different version of the game. You will have to pass them by until they get the update too.
3: If you play on BOTH iOS and an alternate device, your iOS may have updated while you were in the game. If this is the case, you will not be able to play on any other device until they get the update too as your game already recognizes the newer version of it. So you will have to stick with iOS until then.
Now for those that may be having a glitch. If you do NOT have iOS, do NOT play on multiple devices, and ONLY have Android…if you see the message to Update to continue playing…TinyCo needs to know about it.
So if NONE of the 3 circumstances above apply to you, but you are still being told to Update, contact TinyCo ASAP. Let them know the following…
When did the issue start?
Does is show up on the launch screen or once you go into the game?
Did you start to get this message AFTER seeing it in a Neighbors town?
Can you play at all?
Send the details through your in game messaging (Menu, Help, Contact). If you are not able to get in the game, send them the message via email at help@tinyco.com.
Also, please post the issue here so we can help track it. Just answer the 4 questions above. Hopefully this will help track down those actually having a glitch vs those just experiencing the pop up but need to just wait.

Family Guy Addicts 
I play Family Guy on my Nextbook tablet. When I click the app it just exits all by itself. I tried reinstalling and that didn’t work. I forced the app to stop that didn’t work I contacted Tiny Co many times and they haven’t responded. I cleared data that didn’t work.. Sometimes it exits while it’s loading. I don’t get a warning it just exits. When I touch the screen it will also freeze and exit. Please help me I tried every website to solve this frustrating problem and it’s hard. Do you know the problem? Can you give me advice?

I am with all the other people. My Note Tab is not compatible anymore. And I just purchased some coins from them. It is very frustrating when you pay for a game and you can’t play it. I tell you, I will never give them money again.

The “Upgrade Game” issue bit me today on an android tablet. I have reported it to TinyCo with my game ID. Shows up on the launch screen and when I go to Play Store to upgrade it tells me that my device is not compatible. I don’t play with the social element so it didn’t occur from visiting another town. I can’t play at all. I tried your trouble shooting and got to uninstall the game. I did an attempt to reinstall and now the game doesn’t even appear for reinstallation in Google Play. I guess I am added to the list.

It doesn’t say that it’s not compatible it just says that it’s having trouble connecting to the server but the header says data conflict. Out of no where. I played this morning. This came up around lunchtime.

Have a galaxy s3, been able to play up until today,game loads and then says something like ‘trying to end an event which does not exist’ (cant remember exactly) and then re loads the game,went on play store to find ‘not compatible with your device’ so god knows if I can use my ipad any more as its older than my s3 is.I get programming takes work but jeeez the guys doing the simpsons did a great job.This app has never worked right for months now and they need to be looking at fixing all the problems before they start rolling out ‘fun’ updates

Playing on note 2. Messages started in neighbor town, then couldn’t get to neighbors. Message said I needed to update my game. I finally uninstalled to try and reinstall, only to find that it is not in the play store. Now I have no game access at all!!

That means you have a non compatible device. They are trying to work on another version for those players. Hang in there.

That is pretty weak. I have spent money on this game and I can’t even play it. That’s not how you do things. I spent money on this Christmas update and I couldn’t even finish it. When I contacted tint co they didn’t even read my email. I have emailed them again and I am waiting to hear back

Hi I have been playing the QFS for the last 7 or 8 weeks on Android and I keep getting asked to update at start of the game, I also have trouble visiting other players, most of the time I get pop up telling me to update my game in order to visit and sometimes don’t get even a single clam or the coins I collect on visiting don’t add to ones I already have?! And my game keeps cutting out after a few minutes. Please please help as I enjoy playing the game. I am a recovering heroin addict I have been clean for almost a year and watching family guy, American Dad and the Cleveland show has helped take my mind off things n gave me reason to giggle also playing your game has helped me as the last couple of months have been very very stressful so it helped me to unwind. Sorry, I wish we could help more. You need to update the game in order to visit other players…but as this post states, if you have one of the versions of Android not compatible…you will have to wait for the patch coming for those devices. So in the meantime, just do what you can til it hits.

I have been given the message to update to visit neighbors. I have no friends using iOS and there is no listing for family guy on my play store. I use a Samsung galaxy SIII and when I try to update the Google shop says my device is not compatible with the app.

I am pretty upset. First I was playing normally. I tried to visit a friend and it said I needed to update. I went to update and it said the update is not compatible with my device. I have a galaxy note 2. I was thinking that it’s impossible. I went ahead and updated the software on my device. Well that didn’t work. Not only is the game no longer available for my device, I can no longer play at all. When I click on the app it simply shuts down immediately. I get a notification asking if I would like to send a report. In which case I did so. I hope they will fix it soon. As I am beyond leveling up. I just enjoy unlocking new characters and expanding when ever possible. Thankyou

Google play store said my device was incompatible so I just downloaded 1.5.5 as an APK file instead of using the Google play store. Downloaded fine and now I can play again.

Nope. Tapping on them makes them stop. So…easier to target by tapping on them and keeping a group in a set area.

Have an android tablet and says that I need to update to visit my wifes town. However on the play store it says that the version is not compatable with my device. Neither of us have ever had a problem with the game on this device till now. She has an android phone she plays on mostly and allowed the update. Anybody have any idea why this is happening?

I’ve got exactly the same problem, the play store tells me the update is not compatible with my device. It’s not an old device, it’s a quad-core with 1GB RAM generic tablet running Android 4.4.2. I will be emailing TinyCo to report the problem.

Seems to be a wide spread issue. I can’t update on my Nextbook running Kitkat 4.4.2 either. The face book page is filled with others having same issue. Mostly Samsung devices but some others also.

Not been able to visit other towns as on Andriid like loads of others, but still getting visits from othee players, and at last got a good gift, 5 clams, but unable to get any by visiting, but it is obvious not much purpose complaining, they know about it and are trying to fix it, and that we will all just have to be patient, and should nit miss out on the possible bonus clams by visiting as they store, and can be used when it is up and running again, Tiny have a pretty good record fixing problems and they deserve some time off for Christmas like all of us, so if not fixed before that then not a real problem. Concerning the secret gifts why did Tiny not have a update ready for the gifts, got all the main stuff and keep getting either red stockings, have over 150 now and nothing to spend them on, or gingerbread men, have over 20000 of them so pretty useless gifts, hopefully some new stuff soon. Everyone at Tiny, if you cannot fix this problem pre Christmas chill out and have some time off and have a good Christmas, the game will still be here when you return. So Happy Christmas to all at Tiny. 🙂

Got an email response from TinyCo. At least they’re good about responding. I’m on Android & get the Upgrade message. I guess we’re just waiting for the app store to get the update.
“Android/Amazon and iOS are currently on two different updates. Android/Amazon is on 1.5.0 and iOS is on 1.5.5. This may cause you to see one of two error messages:
1. “You need to upgrade your game in order to visit this neighbor.” This means that the neighbor you’re trying to visit is on a different update. You may see this when you first enter the Multiverse, since the game redirects you to the first Secret Santa eligible friend.
2. “A new update is available! Please upgrade to the latest version to continue.” Players who play on both iOS and Android/Amazon will see this on their Android/Amazon devices, even though there is no update available. When you logged in on your iOS device, your game was updated to 1.5.5. Unfortunately, this means that it is incompatible with 1.5.0 devices for now. We recommend using your iOS device until 1.5.5 is released for all platforms.
Both of these issues will be resolved once the 1.5.5 update has been approved by all app stores. We’re working hard to get this released as soon as possible. Thank you so much for your patience!”

Just started getting the message to upgrade.
Only play on one Anrdoid device (running Lollipop 5.01).
Can play normally apart from unable to visit friends (which generates the error) and only have voices for Jasper, no-one else. Item drops seem to be at a lower rate too.

SO. on my Android Tablet, when you click visit neighbors the glitch pops up, if i ignore it and push it a couple more times, it will take me to Ollie, from Ollie I can still get my clam and coins etc, and i can click on all my neighbors who haven’t played in ages so are not on the Christmas game. I can NOT go to the iOS players and give gifts, the popup will come back and ill be back at Ollies or whichever neighbor I am at. I can at least drop gifts at 1 person’s who is on Android. But the key is getting to Ollies first. Which I have found is possible.

wow… so i had to unfriend someone just so i could have the option of giving secret santa gifts since the game defaults to a neighborhood that i could not access and could not chose a different one? as much as i love this game it is becoming too much of a hassle at this point.
