First up, the Basics
- Players will need to be on the App Market Version 1.29.2 in order to see the event.
- Players will need to have at LEAST District 3 Unlocked and Al’s complete.
- Players will only see this on the Mobile App Version (iOS, Google, Amazon, Facebook). NOT Windows Stand Alone
- PLAY THE GAME! Items unlock in stages and as you progress, so if you do not see an item it is most likely you have not progressed far enough in the Main Questline to unlock it. Check details below for more specifics on unlock points
- Don’t have a TON of Tasks open in your Task Menu. If you have too many open, no new ones can arrive. (Keep it under 10). If you do not see new Tasks popping up, clear out some incomplete Tasks already on your List to make room for more

Each Phase you will have Cases that will determine specific Characters to collect and will be timed. You will have to complete the Case before the timer runs out on it to gain all items linked to it. Cases are kind of like Phases, though a lil twist to them with the timer.
To put it simply, instead of new content every 7 days or week… new content will now drop about every 10/12 days. Kind of like ANOTHER game I write about. Lol. Also similar is that the prior released content won’t be available to just earn once the new content hits.
So if you do not have James Woods unlocked and live in your game doing tasks by time Case 1 timer runs out, he will be gone from the game.
No more getting “stuck” in Phases. Instead EVERY Player moves on to the New Content regardless their progression.

ROCKY POINT HOTEL
I know that the “Travel To Rocky Point” Icon is currently covered by the Leaderboard Icon. For now, just use task “GO” options to get you back and forth. Or Material collection “GO” options from Al’s to do so as well. I already alerted TinyCo of the issue and hope to have it resolved soon.
UPDATE: This should be fixed now. The Leaderboard Icon has been removed and the House/Hotel Icon (depending where you are) should now show in it’s place. YAY!
You will be able to start accessing it after reaching at least Return to Rocky Point Pt 3.
Much like in past Events, there will be a separate “Play Area” in the game. This Event, it will be the Rocky Point Hotel. Keep in mind that specific items will be Unique to ONLY Rocky Point Hotel.
For instance if you try to access the Shopping Cart, you won’t see all the items from the Event. You will have to return to Quahog instead to be able to see it all.
Also like in the past, there will be “Rooms” that you will unlock during the Event. Not all will unlock at once, instead you will need to progress through the Event to get to each one. We will note what opens each Phase and what needed to unlock it.

Once you are in the Haunted Hotel play field, you will notice only specific Characters followed you. As noted above, only certain Characters will be able to be used while there and as you progress.
Valet: Here is your “Al’s” while you are at the Haunted Hotel. Tap on it to see what Characters are available to unlock (not all may show in this play area)
Billiard Room: If you tap on the ! above it, you will see things you can search for and what it will take to do so. This will be the first room you can access
Elevator Shaft: Many of your Characters will use this location to preform tasks while in the Haunted Hotel. Check here first if you can’t find them.
Piano Lounge: You will see this locked when you first enter. During Return to Rocky Point Pt 4, will direct you to unlock it and start “Episode 1”.
Gallery/ Music Room: You will see this locked when you first enter. During Return to Rocky Point Pt 7, will direct you to unlock it and start “Episode 2”. This is where you will find Poltergeists first
Secret Room: This is “hidden” behind the books in the Library and will not be accessed until Case #2 is released.
Library: This area will be locked until “Episode 3”
Kitchen: This area will be locked until “Episode 3”

INVESTIGATE A ROOM/ RELEASE GHOSTS & POLTERGEISTS
To collect Materials you will need for the Event, you will be accessing rooms to Investigate them and earn items after doing what is needed in each room.
To start an Investigation, tap on the ! above the Room.
Once you tap on it, you will see many icons below showing the “Ghosts” you can clear in the room and the Rock Salt cost to do so. Once you have earned the amount of Rock Salt needed, the Magnifying Icon will light up in the Icons with the Ghosts. Tap on it to start clearing.
EXAMPLE #1: I tapped on the ! above the Billiard Room. My option was Release Ghosts for 1 Rock Salt. The Flashlight showed progress as it timed down. It took 10 secs. Then a Check Mark showed. Tapping on it completed Task and I was told I found 6 Ghosts Total. I was also awarded 1 Magnifying Glass. Now, 6 Ghosts were sent loose into the Hotel.
EXAMPLE #2: After unlocking the Gallery, I tapped on the ! above it. My option was to Release Poltergeists for 1 Iron Chain. The Flashlight showed progress as it timed down. It took 10 secs. Then a Check Mark showed. Tapping on it completed Task and I was told I found NOTHING. Yes, this can happen and you have to try again. You will still get 1 Magnifying Glass.
EXAMPLE #3: After unlocking the Gallery, I tapped on the ! above it. My option was to Release Poltergeists for 1 Iron Chain. The Flashlight showed progress as it timed down. It took 10 secs. Then a Check Mark showed. Tapping on it completed Task and I was told I found 1 Poltergeist. Now it starts roaming the Hotel.

Once you have released Poltergeists from the Gallery, it will start roaming the Hotel. You will then need to clear them using one of the Characters. After some game play, other rooms will show the Poltergiests too that you can try and release.

Here are the FAQ for Phase 1 per TinyCo. Note that this is info they released, not tested live in our games.
You must have District 3 unlocked, Al Harrington’s repaired and play on app version 1.29.0 or higher in order to take part in The Haunting.
When does The Hauntening end?
The Hauntening ends on November 2nd at 3 PM PST.
Cases are limited-time phases of The Hauntening event. During each Case, you will be able to collect characters and complete quests that are unique to that Case. Each Case has a specific end date and when each closes, the next Case will automatically start. This means any characters not unlocked or quests not finished from the previous Case will disappear, so be sure to finish all content before each Case is closed for the full experience of The Hauntening!
You can see how much time is left in the current Case by tapping on the event icon on the bottom right of the screen and going to “Case Files”.
Help! I unlocked an event building but I cannot find it.
The event building will be inside your inventory when you buy it. The event buildings can only be placed in Quahog and not the Rocky Point Hotel.
How do I travel to the Rocky Point Hotel?
You can travel to the Rocky Point Hotel after reaching ‘Return to Rocky Point Pt. 3’. Tap the castle icon on the bottom right of the screen to go to the Haunted Hotel.
How do I start investigating a room?
You can start investigating a room by tapping on the “!” above the room, and select either Rock Salt or Iron Chains.
How do I stop the Poltergeists?
You need to use Iron Chains to investigate a room and use either Sheriff Peter or Condom Chris to clear them.
How do I unlock more rooms in the Rocky Point Hotel?
More rooms will be unlocked as new cases open. Each case unlocks a new set of rooms!
Family Guy Addicts 
The game was letting me kill aliens with Sheriff Peter, but is suddenly telling me I have to have FBI Louis to stop them. This is haulting all my progression. Any ideas?

Are you able to go directly to the task on Sheriff Peter’s list? If not, try restarting device/clearing your game’s cache etc. and see if that helps.

When checking on what I need to unlock James Woods, I seem to be able to buy the Raiders of the Lost Artifacts building even though it doesn’t show up at the concierge when I directly check there. I’m still saving up keys to unlock the “Freakin’ Hard” prize, so if I get the Raiders building is it gonna automatically start the timer for the hard one or did I find a sweet glitch?

Personally I passed on the freakin’ hard mausoleum as lots keys needed for the new content they released on Thursday, including the new Concierge buildings that drop stuff for New Carl. You may have started the timer by going to the Lost Artifucats building, you will only find out when you next go into the Concierge, but unless you’re a completist you may want use those keys for the week 2 items instead.

Well the thing is, I didn’t even get the Sinister Staffing building yet, so the Mausoleum is still locked. I guess I should have mentioned that. That’s why it seems weird that I have the option to get the Raiders building when I click on it in James Woods’ menu of stuff.

My family guy app isn’t letting me get to rocky point. I click on the icon and it just freezes and backs me out. It’s been happening for around 3 days now very frustrating!

I’ll tell you in my game there were several zeroes in a row… but then they pumped out after to make up for it. It balances out. I get them regardless if some already roaming of either kind. 🙂

Another event where a character has to earn an item, trade that item for something else, trade that something else for another something, trade that something else for a building, use the building to drop something else, use that something else to unlock a character or a skin. It’s all so tedious.

It’s how it’s always been, some dislike it others like the familiarity of gameplay. But we are seeing them mix up the format a little with the timed cases etc so maybe throw more new things in as we go along or in future event.

Are you using clam items? I haven’t had nearly that many chains yet. Two attempts, one success. Two more due in an hour. (Hopefully.) I’ve only unlocked one poltergeist so far.

Keep alternating. There were times I got multiple nothing in a row… but then I got like 2s and 1s over n over after. It balanced out, but was sporadic in how they drop.

Because many Players are guaranteed to have at LEAST those five Main Characters. It makes it so anyone new or seasoned in the game can participate. Hard I know as you want to pick just one… but hopefully as Buildings unlock and the Event progresses with new Characters added…. it will become easier. 🙂

Well that makes a lot of sense!!!….so just for fun, here’s a silly question: why does it use the same 5 or so characters to unlock Pawtucket Pat? I’m on district 10 trying to get him unlocked too, but it’s the same 5 characters used in the event, and I dare not take a moment of their time getting all the time game content, but he has extra rare flutes and 12 hour beer cans both in very high amounts. I have tons of other characters, none being used for him or the new event. Looks like I’ll have to wait til next month to focus on P. Pat again?

Because districts are not timed a lot of the same characters get used but it doesn’t really matter. You could get him next month or the one after, it doesn’t matter 🙂

Gotcha, I’m just trying to catch em all, wait, wrong game lol. But really I want to fill my TanLines to get that Evilest of Monkeys. So the sooner the better for more characters, and I still have Stewie getting flutes and Chris doing the beer can hats, although I LOVE Chris’ Halloween costume, 250 for a skin is far too much. I’d rather buy another character. So they can later check into Tanlines, lol. So here’s hoping at least those 2 guys can stay on Pawtucket Pat for now😉

But at least it’s fun watching Orange Stewie dancing his little heart out to get that very rare item. I was surprised when two finally popped out at once. I just started collecting for Pat a few days ago. So far he’s using some characters not used for the event, although they’re used to unlock floors for Tanlines. So some sacrifice is necessary. He better be worth it.

Maybe it’s just me, but I still have no idea what exactly a “case” consists of. Can you please give a list of tasks needed to complete the first one? Is it just unlocking Peter or a certain amount of rooms or all of the Halloween prizes?

EVERYTHING on this post is Case 1. It is just a fancy name for “Week 1” or “Phase 1” if you will. It is all the items launched in this Part of the Event. 🙂

Make sure your Task bar has room for new Questlines to appear. You will need to trigger Give up the Ghost and get to Part 3 of THAT one, not Rocky Point in order to unlock him. (See post here and Questline post)

I’m so confused. I can’t find these “cases” or the timer you speak of. I don’t know where to get the skeleton key. I read this post 4 times and I’m just overwhelmed and lost!

Case= Phase, essentially “week 1” but more than a week for the Event.
Skeleton Keys= Front Desk. Get to Rocky Point and start killing Ghosts. Get ectoplasm, exchange at front desk for keys.

Wow, this event seems like it’s going to be super hard. Lots of stuff needed to continue thru the concierge(which you have to get in order), only a few characters all able to get multiple items and only 10 days to achieve sheriff Peter and James Woods!! Ahhhhhhh(I’m panicking!!)LOL!!
Ok, I took a few deep breaths and I feel better now, lol. If anyone has some good tips on how to achieve all this stuff, I’d love to hear any of them!! Get salts, or focus on getting sheriff Peter? Which questline should I focus, return to the hotel or give up the ghost?? There’s just so much to do!!!**a few more deep breaths***lol.

Get Ghosts and get to Poltergeists as soon as you can. They are a HUGE source of Ectoplasm.

Nope. I assume because the new set up and timer on the CASE… he essentially has one, but it is not linked to him.

I’m having trouble traveling to the Hotel from Quahog. I’ve only been able to get there by selecting an objective that takes me there. Am I missing something? I was hoping for a quick tap somewhere to take me to the Hotel play area. #firstworldproblems 😅 Thanks for any help!

Yes, we are using tasks to travel also. It’s been reported to TinyCo, so don’t worry it’s not just your game having the issue.

I don’t like this time limit for “cases”. That makes it even MORE difficult for those of us who can’t spend money on the game to be able to complete anything.

We still have at least 10 days to work on it. Normally Character timers are 7 days as well as Phases… so it is a bit more time already. 🙂

IMO… I see both sides. I also see Players complaining they are stuck in “Phases” and never see the last Phase or two of content in the game because they are unable to keep up.
Right now I am going through the entire Case #1 and it seems pretty cut and dry. I do like that they are not holding Players to be stuck in a Phase this way. With them trying something new no one has seen before… we are all curious how it will play out. All we can do is wait, play, and see. Have Fun! 🙂

I just see TinyCo being more competitive and listening to what people are leaning towards … this style is more similar to that other game we all love where they have acts for a certain amount of time and prizes along the track you unlock with collecting different types of event currency, it’s literally the same concept that has been pretty successful there. The only problem is TinyCo has randomized drops instead of guaranteed drops making it more challenging and less favorable as a majority.

When I first entered the Hotel play area, all the main characters were walking around. The graphics are awesome, characters look so cool in the hotel lobby. Loving this so far. Condom Chris…yeah…well done.

So if I dig up James Wood’s grave I have until the next case…just worried one of those 72 hour timers don’t kick in making me say “OMG…WHAT HAVE I DONE!!”
Also so the candy prize is just a chance of getting 2 pieces of candy and not a guarantee?
I am currently going back and forth tapping on unlockable items task (telephone task)

I am not sure how it all works with the new timer system. All I can do is wait and see. Lol. And yes, I updated the rates of the drops for him just now… so the location will drop at the rates listed.

I will save my Epic every negative person rant: It’s a clam grab!!/Tinyco hates us/ my childhood dog loved my sister more/ this event will be impossible to complete/ I walked Rufus, why did he love my sister more?/ this event is too hard/ I will without any rational thought think Bunny works for Tinyco and leave an all cap messege/ They should give me the character they paid the rights for to me for free/ Rufus slept on her bed..and I fed him!! For another time. Yeah doing one of those rants here would be tacky 🙂

When I click on the app, my screen turns lime green for a second then a Chrome page opens up (the Family Guy crash FAQ page). When I close that and try to load the game again, it loads for a few seconds then crashes with a message “Family Guy has stopped”. It’s been like this for days now. (Android)

Same as everyone else, there’s no “castle” icon to tap to travel back and forth and I’m on part 5.
Currently I can get back to Quahog using the island daily task, but once that’s done there won’t be any way back.

Click on handcuff box for Sheriff Peter outfit, if in Rocky Point selecting Make Mort Scrounge for Coins will take you back to Quahog, and if you’re in Quahig clicking on Find Gravediggers Shack at Concierge will take you to Rocky Point. Easier than force closing until it’s fixed.

I have already reached part 7 of the return to rocky and have yet to find a way to either go to or return to the event other than using the quests to take me there. Has anyone else encountered this issue?

They leaderboard icon sometimes stays until the prizes are awarded.

Yes I understand that I just don’t understand why. We all know there was a leaderboard in the last event and they will award prizes once everything is calculated. It just serves no purpose to leave it.

For those of us who qualified it is where we see our final rank once everything verified, apart from that nothing. But I’d be happy just to find out once prizes are released.

Let me put it this way… it is blank to us… but on THEIR end, it still has all the winners. If they remove it… they will lose that list. I am really really certain Players do NOT want that to happen. So until the list is checked, triple verified, and all winning Players and their spots noted… it will stay active and linked to the game. Usually 7 days after an Event ends. 😉

I thing that the leaderboard box next to the store item in the bottom right corner is causing some issues, as there’s no castle box to travel back to Rocky Point Hotel once your back in Quahog, and the only way I found to get back to Quahog from the hotel was by force closing the game and then relaunching the game, unless I’m missing something.
