The Hauntening 101: Clearing Spacemen & Buggy Aliens

There’s something a bit other worldly going on at Rocky Point and if you’re feeling a little spaced out by it all don’t  fear cause I’m here to try to help you make sense of it all. Me talking sense? Now that really is an alien concept.

First the spiritual world sprung a leak and all sorts of supernatural s…, ok stuff  came through, now the skies are falling and we’ve got Spacemen and Buggy Aliens strutting their stuff. It’s a nightmare come true, or a dream if you’re a geek like me.

With so much going on in Case 1 and it needing our urgent attention as the clock ticks down I thought I’d trick or treat you to a post outlining yet another new element in our gameplay.

Let’s take a closer look at the new content released in Case 1 and see exactly what it takes to summon these space oddities to our hotels in order we can clear them out, as believe me buggy aliens running amok is never a good thing.

For more information on the Event, go HERE

WHAT THE HECK ARE SPACEMEN?

In order to be able to start seeing Spacemen in Rocky Point you will need to have completed Pt. 6 of Give Up The Ghost AND also progress a bit in the Main Questline to Return to Rocky Point Pt 10. At that point you will be instructed to Learn About Spacemen. Clicking Go will bring up instructions on finding spacemen and subsequently clearing them.

For full breakdowns of these Questlines, go HERE

At this point you have will have triggered the ability to collect the EMF Readers needed to free spacemen in some of the rooms in your hotel.

HAUNTED ROOMS

When you first visit Rocky Point the only room unlocked to investigate is the Billiards Room. In week 1 we then unlocked the Piano Room and The Gallery.

The new room I’m going to talk about in this post is the Library which you will unlock as you progress through the Main Questline at Return to Rocky Point Pt. 9, (remember you must also have completed  Give Up The Ghost Pt. 6). If you’ve done the above the Library will be available to unlock as part of Episode 2.

WHAT DO I NEED TO RELEASE SPACEMEN?

You will need a little thing to entice those spacemen into the open, EMF Readers, guess they don’t want to come to Earth without some safety equipment.

EMF Readers (Common): James Woods Explore the Grounds OR Joe Investigate OR Brian Stewie Do The Scoot OR Skin Suit (Concierge) OR Clams option in Shopping Cart

HOW DO I RELEASE SPACEMEN?

This is pretty simple once you’re armed with one EMF Reader, click on the exclamation mark in the Library to start an investigation. This will bring up the investigation where you can see what kind of supernatural spirit or space oddity is available, spacemen can be investigated in this room. You can see this in the box at the bottom which shows spacemen and the cost to investigate them.

To release spacemen once you have an EMF Reader, just tap on the magnifying glass and this will start the investigation of the room. It takes 20secs to investigate, a flashlight with a progress bar shows the time left and once complete you will see a check mark.

By tapping the check mark you will find out if your investigation was successful. Now be aware you DO NOT always release spacemen, sometimes your investigation fails, when this happens you will only get a reward of a magnifying glass.

However when you’re investigation is successful you will see a similar screen but this will show how many spacemen you have released into Rocky Point.

You can keep repeating the investigations action as long as you have enough EMF Readers available. In my first few attempts this was my results:

Investigation 1: 2 Spacemen
Investigation 2: 0 Spacemen
Investigation 3: 1 Spaceman
Investigation 4: 1 Spaceman

HOW DO I CLEAR SPACEMEN?

If your investigation was successful clearing the released spaceman is similar to that of the poltergeist in Week 1.  To clear spacemen you will require either Sheriff Peter, New Carl or FBI Lois. All have a task Clear Spacemen. It takes 3 hours to clear a spaceman.

WHAT REWARDS DO I GET?

The rewards you will get will vary. Spacemen drop the following:

Per Spacemen Cleared:
 12 Cosmic Radiation
1 Alf DVD (Rare Drop)

Family Guy Coin 2

HOW DO I START BUGGY ALIEN HUNTING?

The basics of clearing buggy aliens are similar to what we’ve seen in previous events, spot it, tap it, aim and fire, but for those who are new to the game full details follow.

Firstly buggy aliens won’t appear in your game until you have reached Pt. 11 of the main Questline Return to Rocky Point.  At this point you will trigger Probing Questions Pt. 1 and this will announce Buggy Aliens are Here. Tapping Go will take you to a Buggy Alien in Rocky Point.

HAUNTED ROOMS

Buggy Aliens are not trapped in rooms, they can appear anywhere in Rocky Point.

WHAT DO I NEED TO RELEASE BUGGY ALIENS?

You don’t need anything as they will automatically appear in Rocky Point for you to find. We have no details on spawn times, still testing that in our games. They look like this.

HOW DO I CLEAR BUGGY ALIENS?

You will need to collect 1 Bug Spray to clear a buggy alien.

image

Bug Spray (Common): Chris Fat Kid Hula Hoop OR Herbert Buy Candy For Kids OR Mort Swallow Jewels OR FBI Basement Office OR Flying Saucer

Once you have a bug spray simply hunt around Rocky Point for a Buggy Alien, tap it then go to the Bug Spray Icon.

image

Drag the spray target to a Buggy Alien, you know it’s in the target when it turns purple in the green circle area, then quickly tap the tick to clear out the pesky bug.

WHAT REWARDS DO I GET?

The rewards you get will vary. Buggy Aliens drop the following:

Per Buggy Alien Cleared:
 2 Cosmic Radiation
1 Bobblehead Alien (Always Drop) ~ will only drop if you’ve repaired New Carl.

Family Guy Coin Varies

There you have it, all the facts about spaceman and buggy aliens. What are your thoughts? Have you started to clear any yet? If so, are you enjoying this extraterrestrial addition to our games? Any other tips for fellow Players? Let us know.

  1. I didn’t manage to unlock Sheriff Peter on time, so I don’t have any characters to clear the spaceman, is there any other ways to finish The task?

  2. So as with all the other characters (ghosts, poltergeists and demons) you can actually sit and watch the rooms to see what entity is inhabiting a specific room. The easiest of these is obviously the demon which appears continuously. The ghost and poltergeist only show for a brief moment in the doorways. I have yet to see any kind of indicator for spacemen. Does anyone know what to look for?

  3. The drop rates in this phase are horridous! I’ve only got Spacemen one time out of twelve investigations. On top of this my Buggy Aliens are not paying out any Cosmic Radiation. I’m never going to progress at this rate! Any suggestions?

  4. These investagations for spacemen suck big time. I have only managed to release 2 out if 15. The ridiculousness of it all keeps me trying though…but the clams😡

  6. Yesterday, I tried to get aliens in all 4 rooms, but no luck. I though that maybe it was because I already had one alien running around the hotel and maybe they wouldn’t drop until I actually needed them. So I tried again today after clearing the last alien, and I got the same results. 4 rooms, 0 aliens. That’s 8 duds in a row now. Just thought you guys would like to know that it doesn’t seem to matter how many aliens your already have.

    • Have you tried going into your settings within the game and seeing if you can set to Use Low Memory Graphics?

      • I have tried using low graphics but spraying buggy aliens still stops my game.

I’ve been having the same problem. I had to make sure everything else on the screen had been collected, tap once on one buggy alien, wait and hope. Then if successful I didn’t tap on another even if I had the spray, without first going to quahog then back to rocky point. Basically taking it very slow.

      • Similar issue here too. It happens on my Kindle HD Fire, my new Samsung Galaxy S7, but not on my old iPod Touch. I wasn’t having any other issues on the Galaxy so I hadn’t turned on the low graphics option, but even after turning it on and restarting the game, same issue. For now I just save up the cans of spray till I can get on my iPod in the evening and use them all then.

But it sucks. Originally I could use the spray on my phone, even with the high graphics setting going. Not sure what changed.

        • I’ve been having the same issue, I’m on an LG G5 and so far I’ve been able to collect 1 bobble head or whatever they are, because my game crashes every time I spray a bug. Did any one find a fix for this? I’ve tried to get a hold of tiny co a number of times with no response.

          • Have you tried going into your game settings and ticking to use low memory graphics, then closing and restarting your game. When using in game support please give TinyCo device info, when started etc.

  8. The drop rates really suck getting really pissed off. 5 emf and not one spaceman. Come on tinyco what the hell I am done after this event blatant cash grabbing.

  9. There must be some other requirement for spacemen to appear. I too, have done 4 EMF investigations with 0 spacemen. What’s the catch?

  10. How often are the bugs to give cosmic radiation? The past two days, I haven’t gotten one single one from clearing bugs. As Peter is used for getting crates I can’t put him to clear Spacemen and as such only have the bugs to provide cosmic radiation, but as they aren’t dropping, I can’t get any and can’t trade.
You don’t mention in your post how frequent they should come from bugs, but none in two days, is really not good.

    • I’ve not had any Cosmic Radiation from Buggy Aliens either. TinyCo haven’t put a drop rate on it, but Bunny is feeding back information to TinyCo

      • I actually see at the top of the screen it says a chance of bobble head and 2 cosmic radiation. I’ve always gotten the bobble head, but rarely get the rays. I’m thankful that we at least get a bobble head everytime, what with needing 55 and rarely getting bug spray. It’s really starting to make me mad, and I don’t think games are supposed to cause anger. Lol
I think the lot of us are nutty! Hee hee
What did I do before I found this game? Can’t remember. It’s too addicting.

  11. 5 EMFs used so far with 0 spacemen every time. Sent an in game message after 3. Made sure the game had been updated to the latest and greatest, restarted, etc.. Stuck on Rocky Point 11, and the new main questline has not started yet. Still don’t have James Woods unlocked. Need candy and they’re dropping about half the time every 8 hours so it’s slow. Need one more key to get the first building that helps. I have more than 400 of the ectoplasm but can’t get keys because no new material to go with them. There are no spacemen to be found yet, and no buggy aliens yet so also can’t try to collect any bug spray. Also can’t get some stuff for Carl, who is going away soon. Week 2 is always the roughest, but they’ve really upped the stakes on this one.

Btw you need Sheriff Peter to clear the aliens, so if you’re still working on James Woods make sure you use him in the meantime for getting crates from poltergeists, if you can. I actually have aliens now, but no one to clear them with lol.

      • Thanks. I unlocked Sheriff Peter on the 3rd day of the event so have had everything except candy for James Woods for the last few days now. Just need that candy to drop and need to find the spacemen. I’ve tried 6 EMF’s now. Still at zero spacemen.

    • Same for me. Four or five duds before getting an alien.

  12. 7 attempts to find spacemen. Total of 1 found. No keys since Thursday. No week 2 prizes earned. Need ALL of them to start collecting one of the items for Carl.

Week one was so good and I was on schedule.

  13. Maybe it’s just bad luck, but I’ve made zero progress on this. My results have been:
    Investigation 1: 0 Spacemen
    Investigation 2: 0 Spacemen
    Investigation 3: 0 Spaceman

  19. Woah! So you only get like one bobble head? So we have to spray 55 bugs, that have like 6 hour way it time for spray. Waaaaaaa

    Ok tantrum over for now…

  20. The bug spray states that it is “common” but in my game, it has been more “uncommon” than anything. I have four working on the spray (Mort, Chris, Herbert and the Flying Saucer) and out of those four, I only got one spray today. Not a great drop for something that is “common”.
