There’s No Place Like Quahog 101: Falling Houses

I guess it’s true what they say. It’s all wicked good fun until a falling house lands on top of you, lol.

I’ve always felt that the little flying farmhouse never got the credit it was due, I mean Dorothy took out the Wicked Witch of the West and got a fanfare, that little house took out the Wicked Witch of the East and didn’t get so much as a lick of paint. And now to make things worse TinyCo has put that little hero of a falling house on the wrong side of the event fence, as it’s the little baddie we need to clear in Phase 2 of There’s No Place Like Quahog.

With so much going on in the first day or two of a new phase I know you all feel like you’re in the eye of a storm as a tornado of information is thrown your way, but we’re here to break it down so you can follow the yellow brick road without worrying about a house falling on top of you.

So let’s take a closer look at the new content released in Phase 2 of There’s No Place Like Quahog and see exactly what it takes to get these falling houses out of our towns.

For more information on the Event, go HERE

WHAT THE HECK ARE FALLING HOUSES?

They are little farmhouses that have flown through the eye of a storm, and in order to start learning about them in Quahog you will need to be at Pt. 1  of the Main Questline Someplace Over The Rainbow. It’s here you will be instructed to Learn About Falling Houses. Clicking Go will bring up some very basic instructions on how to clear them from your town.

image

At this point you will also trigger the ability to collect the protein powder  needed to train Buff Munchkins in order to clear away falling houses.

Once you reach Pt. 2 of  Someplace Over The Rainbow you will find falling houses appearing in your Quahog.

WHERE WILL I FIND FALLING HOUSES?

Falling Houses tend to land around your roads, so if you’re not seeing them they might be hiding on a piece of road behind a building. Look for little plumes of smoke billowing up, this is a sure fire sign there’s a fallen house lurking. I’ve only two small strips of road just now and they have all fallen beside them.

WHAT DO I NEED TO START SEEING FALLING HOUSES?

You don’t need to do anything apart from reach Pt. 2 of the main Questline, Someplace Over The Rainbow. As soon as you get to that part they will automatically appear in Quahog for you to find. I immediately saw 5 in my town, so this looks like the max. Once a Falling House was cleared  a replacement landed about 2 hours later in my game. Falling Houses look like this.

WHAT DO I NEED TO CLEARING FALLING HOUSES?

You will need to collect 1 Protein Powder to train a Munchkin into a Buff Munchkin to clear a Falling House. Try saying that when you’ve had a few drinks!!!

Protein Powder (Always): Mort Restock Supplements OR Lois Work Out OR Joe Join a Gym OR Winged Monkey Chris (Premium Character) Terrorize The Town

HOW DO I CREATE BUFF MUNCHKINS

You need 1 protein powder to train 1 Buff Munchkin. Once you have a protein powder you need to go to the Munchkin Academy, it’s in the event area and looks like this.

The exclamation mark above the Munchkin Academy denotes that there are training spaces available.

Training Spaces: There are 4 training spaces available, this is the maximum Buff Munchkins you can train at anyone time. And you will notice TinyCo has now removed the two extra spaces that were unusable in Week 1, so things are clearer.

Capacity: You will see the academy capacity in the top right corner, you will see the capacity of the Munchkin Academy at this time is either:

8 – this is the standard capacity we all start with.

OR

12 – this is the increased capacity that you can get if you purchase the premium building, the Munchkin Mayor House. This costs 200 Clams and boosts your standard capacity in the Munchkin Academy from 8 to 12.

This means you can only have a total of 8, (or 12 if you purchased the Munchkin Mayor House), Buff Munchkins created and/or Buff Munchkins in training at any time. If your capacity is showing full, then you can free up capacity by using some of your Buff Munchkins to clear away some Falling Houses.

The training academy looks like this when Buff Munchkins are in training.

When a Buff Munchkin has completed its training you will see the check mark above your training academy. It takes 2 hours to train each Buff Munchkin.

image

Clicking on the check mark will complete the training and provide you with a Buff Munchkin, ready for you to unleash on those eyesore Falling Houses.

HOW DO I CLEAR AWAY A FALLING HOUSE?

Once you have a Buff Munchkin simply look around Quahog for a Falling House, tap it and this will bring up the launch screen.

Simply drag your Buff Munchkin over to a Falling House, you will know it’s in the target when you see the Falling House turn purple within a green circular target, once it’s targeted quickly tap the tick to clear the Falling House.

You’ll see the Falling House disappear in the little puff of goodies it drops.

WHAT REWARDS DO I GET?

The rewards you get are as follows. Falling Houses drop the following:

Per Falling House Cleared:
1 Oil (Rare) – needed to purchase items from the Fallen Farmhouse
3 Emeralds (Always) – needed to purchase items from the Fallen Farmhouse, store and to unlock characters.

There you have it, all the facts about Falling Housess. Have you started to clear them yet? If so, are you enjoying this silly addition to our games? Any other tips for fellow Players? Let us know.

  1. I have one house that will not turn purple when I put the munchkin on it. I have tried using one a couple of times and it will not go away. Anyone else having this problem?

    • Yes, usually happens when there is another house behind it that I can’t see, zoom in and look closely for smoke turning purple when you move Buff Munchkin over it. This is how I clear the “hidden” falling house

  2. What about the rates for the balled up metal, the rare drops seem to be happening more than the uncommon? And oil cans are a pain to get, I agree.

  3. I’ve got all these Hunky Munchkin’s and no houses to unleash then on. Only one house in the last 6 hours. Any one else under a housing shortage? 😀

    • None hiding behind buildings?

      • Nope, I’ve carefully went up and down my heavily populated streets looking, but I find very few.
The houses I do find are generally out in the open. So far I’ve yet to find one with only the smoke stack visible, although I look carefully for that possibility.
My drop rate is only about one ever 6-9 hours. Are others having this same issue?

        • That is strange, I’m certainly seeing them return a lot quicker than that. Have you sent an in game support to TinyCo? Any others having same issue?

          • Although, my oil can rate is quite high.
I rarely don’t get an oil can (hope I didn’t just Jim’s myself).
From what I’m seeing from others in regards to the oil can drop rate, maybe I should just accept what I’m getting and leave well enough alone.

  4. The drop rate on oil cans is killing me. Takes 12 hours to get 3 protein then train the munchkins and I get possible 1 oil can. It’s really bad, going to take ages to get the buildings I need for tin an quagmire 😦

    • Are you sure you’re not on the Once Upon A Rainbow Part 8 questline, if so you need complete Pt 8 and Pt 9 before you will get the new content. The new Questline for this phase is Someplace Over A Rainbow but you don’t start that until you finish Pt. 9 of Once Upon A Rainbow

  6. I’ve got average 1 oil drop for every 3 houses cleared. Wanted to complain then I saw from other posts that it could have been worse.

So far I like this event. At least these are new characters earned not costumes. This is a huge surprise. I just remem that I’ve got only 1 new character joker and the rest are costumes.

  7. Thought I was doing bad with oil drops but after reading this thread I should be happy with 4 drops out of 13 tries.

  8. Like a lot of people here, 9 tries 1 oil can. Based on that drop rate it will take 20 days to get everything needed for week 2!!!

  9. I got 1 oil out of 6 tries…..

  10. 6 hours to get protein powder then 2 hours to train a munchkin and then you might be lucky with a rare drop for oil. This needs to be changed to common if not always for the effort needed to get to clear a fallen house.

  11. 9 houses 1 oil can here. Looks like the curse of the 2nd week hits again

  12. gr, the oil!
out of 5 houses cleared, I’ve gotten 1 oil. 😦
    hope my luck turns around…

    • I know it can seem daunting with the drops, just try to keep in mind that they intentionally make the game a “strategy” style and “go at a specific pace”. So the drop rates are intended to make it so it will take you a specific amount of time before you get to certain items.

I know this is really hard for those of us that want it NOW and done with… just keep trying. Phase 2 only JUST launched last night, so we still have some time to pace through to see how the drops play out. No worries, as usual, always keeping a watchful eye and passing on thoughts to them. 🙂
