Now hold on there a minute. Are you SURE you want that? With all these cool Premium Items in the game, it is very easy to get carried away. Before you know it, Clamshell Shock! All gone!
So before you go ahead and buy the Retro Arcade Christmas Tree with your hard earned Clams, here are a few things you might want to know about it.
Recently in events TinyCo have been putting what I call a speculate to accumulate building or a clam generator. This basically consists of purchasing a premium building for clams, but the buildings will drop clams daily for a limited time instead of the usual game currency. If you have the clams to purchase these buildings I ALWAYS recommend you do, as you always end up better off as long as you time your purchase, and daily collections, right.
For this event the clam generator is the Retro Arcade Chrustmas Tree, and if you have 250 spare clams burning a hole in your pocket, I recommend you BUY, BUY, BUY. And as soon as possible as the Retro Arcade Christnas Tree is set to drop 14 clams a day until 12/28, so if you purchased it on Thursday 12/1 you would have 28 clam drops of 14 clams each day, that’s a total of 392 clams over a 28 day period, and a return of 142 clams on your original investment. So BUY, BUY, BUY.
**Now I know some of you haven’t got the event yet so will be delayed in purchasing the Retro Arcade Christmas Tree, but it’s still worth purchasing a few days into the event, the table further on will show the exact facts figures for clam profits by date purchased.**
The calendar below shows the days clams will drop from 12/1, I include the first day as the building drops 14 clams immediately on placement in your Quahog, from there on all you need to do is collect every 24 hours, either manually by tapping the building or with Conseula’s vacuum. I also include the final day as if you purchased it immediately you will get be able get a drop on the final day, but be aware you may need spend a clam or two speeding the task to get the drop before the tree stops dropping. We will confirm this time as soon as we get it from TinyCo.
So that’s an easy way to pick up some free clams eh, however remember the faster you BUY, BUY, BUY this building the more profit you make. The table below shows the total clam profit you can make going by the date you purchase the Retro Arcade Christmas Tree. You can see purchasing it up until 10/18 you can still make a profit but from then on it’s no longer a profitable investment.

So as you can see it is only worth purchasing the Retro Arcade Christmas Tree until 11th December if you want any kind of clam profit, and if you ensure you collect each and every day, but I obviously recommend you BUY, BUY, BUY these buildings as soon as they are released to maximise your return.

Personally, my opinion is BUY, BUY, BUY if you have 250 clams sitting that you won’t need during the event.

I just discovered my Retro Arcade Tree was missing. It isn’t in my inventory either. I have no idea how long it’s been missing or how many clam drops I missed. I feel like I’ve been robbed! I’m 100 % certain it was there at the start of the event. It was the first thing I purchased. 😞

I am not buying this. If they auto-dropped like in the past, I’d consider it, but I got burned with one that didn’t auto-drop and won’t do it again.

Conseula’s vacuum will collect them but they never automatically awarded after the 24 hour, you always had to enter your game and collect via the vacuum or by clicking the building.

I’m loving all the animations for this event, especially this one. I played Q-Bert for hours as a kid, so with the clam return, this was an easy purchase. Have a little video game village set up for this event (I’m a stickler about how my town looks, at all times lol) and it looks great, Finding this event not too difficult, too.

Do you get commission on these Clam Generators? 😉 Fine: You sold me… I finally bought one, and hopefully that will feed me enough clams to get through the event, and be able to buy the next one. (Though I did have to make an investment of 130 clams to get started.) OK: It looks cool, too. 🙂

This is the first time I bought an event item for clams. Was thinking of buying it, went here to see if it said anything about it, and then bought it. So pretty. Really hope the game will be playable during this event so I can get the clams back. Ah, the excitement of christmas, 😀

If anything, just collect every 24hrs and you will end up with more Clams than when started. 🙂

I got the last two of these clam dispensers; they both malfunctioned for a couple of days at the start of the events but were good buys overall.
Sadly don’t have 250 clams this time having spent my entire stash of around 600 clams on characters for the Wizard of Oz event.

I always buy clam dispensers if I use them wisely by the end of this event I should have about 2000 14 every 24hrs 7 for watching the videos and 1 from olieland

It also drops 60 dream points every 24 hours along with the 14 clams. So it will help you level up as well.
Generally it takes abou 2.5 weeks or a little more to break even with these clam generators. So I make sure I have enough clams saved to buy one whenever they are offered in a longer event. I set an alarm on my phone to harvest the clams every 24 hours.
I hope the animation stays after the event.
