Kung Pow Quahog 101: Clearing Nerds

Hey there Nerdy Geeks!!

With the Kung Pow Quahog Event in full swing there are some questions arising about the Battles with Nerds. I’m sorry we didn’t get a guide to battling nerds up sooner, it was on Bunny’s to do list but she wasn’t able to put a post together, so I’m going to do this quick guide now.  I hope it will address some of the concerns and questions arising in the comments.

In this post I will go over the Basics of the Battles to help you out, so take a peek below and see if this resolves your questions/issues.

For the Main Event Post, go HERE

For the Main Phase 1 Questline, go HERE

You’ll find a post that will be updated each Phase to include our Foes and who can fight them HERE.

WHEN WILL THE NERDS APPEAR?

image

Nerds will appear when you start Mojo in the Dojo Pt: 3, this is when the side Questline Enter the Fatman triggers.

WHAT DO I NEED TO START A BATTLE?

First, you will need to collect Fight Contracts as they are needed each fight costs 1 fight contract.

Fight Contracts (Rare): Get from Squatty Tiger Secret Dragon Lair OR Jerome Sponsor Fighters OR Bonnie Bet on Fights OR Dojo Peter Give Kumito a Try

If you do NOT have the amount of Fight Contracts required, you will see “NEED MORE FIGHT CONTRACTS” on the Battle screen no matter what Character(s) you select.

Once you have a Fight Contract, then “FIGHT” will appear once you select your Character.

HOW DO I SELECT A CHARACTER TO FIGHT A NERD?

Just tap on a nerd then tap on the + sign on the Main Battle Screen. You will see only one + sign and this means you can only use one character per battle.

Tap on the Character you want to use for the current Battle and a check mark will appear on them. If you want just one, that is fine. Then tap on “GO” to take you back to Battle Screen. (If you see a lock on the Character, you do not have them available)

Also remember a character cannot battle whilst busy doing another task. They can however do tasks between battles or whilst healing.

WHAT CHARACTERS CAN FIGHT NERDS?

The Characters you can use will depend on WHO you have unlocked…

Dojo Peter: Health 8, Attack Power 4, Critical Hit Chance 20

Walking Joe: Health 8, Attack Power 4, Critical Hit Chance 50

Daniel LaRusso: Health 12, Attack Power 8, Critical Hit Chance 20

WHAT IS HEALTH, ATTACK POWER AND CRITICAL HIT?

Health – The amount of damage you can take before you’re knocked out.

Attack Power – The standard damage you can do to your opponents health during an attack.

Critical Hit Chance– The higher the number the higher the odds of you doing a critical hit to your opponent. These are random, basically look at it like a lucky strike where you do more damage than your standard. These work on chance, you have no control over them, so really don’t think about it too much. Just know that it means you can knockout an opponent with one hit, but on the downside they can also do the same to you.

Now their Health and/or Attack Power it takes to defeat villans may change as the Event progresses, as we may see new villains to battle, as of know I am not sure on this… but we will have to see what happens as the Event progresses.

HOW MANY  CHARACTERS DO I NEED TO FIGHT A NERD?

You fight with only one, and this post will be based around using Dojo Peter as that’s the only fighter I have unlocked just now.

In other words, you ONLY NEED ONE CHARACTER TO BATTLE but be aware you may need to attack more than once to win unless you hit it lucky with a critical hit to the Nerd. As I said I’m currently just fighting away with just Dojo Peter and progressing okay.

Now that you have the Basics, let’s look at a fight so you can see how things go down.

NERDS

Look around your town for all the available Nerds. In my game, I had up to 8 wandering my sidewalk.

Tap on a nerd and you will see the Battle Screen, here you will see….

  • How much Damage can they Inflict on your Character (fist) – 4
  • How much Damge will it take to Defeat them (health bar) – 8
  • How much Damage you can inflict on them (fist) – 4
  • How much Damage it will take to defeat you (health bar) – 8
  • The chance of a Critical Hit on them
  • The amount of Fight Contracts you need to fight – 1
  • The rewards you will get for defeating the Nerd

So if you use Dojo Peter, you have ok odds as Peter can Inflict 4 Damage with each Punch and it will take 8 damage to defeat Peter. And the Nerd is the same, he can inflict 4 damage with each Punch but can also be defeated when he takes a total of 8 damage. Basically you’re attack power and health is = to that of the Nerd. So there is a chance you can win this battle.

(The same odds go for Walking Joe as his attack power and health is = to the Nerds. Where your chances get much better is if you have Daniel LaRusso unlocked as his attack power and health are greater than the Nerd).

Now once the fight begins you can only sit back and watch how it progresses, you can’t control anything. You may see your Dojo Peter land a critical hit on the Nerd and knockout him out  straight away, or you may hit him and reduce his health by 4, or you may miss him altogether. And the same goes for the Nerd, he may deal you a critical hit and knock you out, or he may hit you and reduce your health by 4 points, and then again he may miss you completely. Watching the fight you will see what happens, but as I say you can do nothing to influence the way it goes.

If you do a critical hit you will have cleared the Nerd and you can just collect your rewards. If you miss him or just reduce his health you can attack again if you have a Fight Contract available by tapping the Fight Again button.

image

Basically you need to keep attacking the same Nerd until his health hits 0. If you leave the battle screen rather than choosing Fight Again make sure you select Nerd that needs further attack, you can check their health bar to ensure its the one you already inflicted damage on, you will know this as it will show 4/8 in its health bar.

If you win the battle you’ll see this screen. Collect you rewards.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I LOSE?

If you are hit and your health is reduced to 4/8 you can go on and fight again, however if you are knocked out and lose all your health then you need to heal your fighter.

WHAT IS HEALING?

Each time your Character goes into Battle, they will take Damage. Once their health hits 0 in order to be able to use them again they must heal from that back to their full Capacity. Please note your fighter will not start to heal if he’s only lost health, he must be at 0 health.

There are a few ways to Heal your Character. First tap on any Nerd and then go to the Character Select Screen (tap on +). Here you will see your Character has taken Damage and “HEAL” is showing over them.

If you are knocked out, lose all your health points, you will automatically start to heal, you will see the time to heal your fighter freemium is 7hrs, (7hrs is the standard time to restore all current fighters to full health).

But if you don’t want to wait 7 hours, below the timer there is a button to allow you to heal them immediately either using premium revive potions bought from the store or if you have no revive potions, you will get a message telling you the clam cost to heal your fighter instantly.

Remember you will receive ONE free revive potion for completiting Pt. 6 of the main Questline. Use it wisely as it is the only freebie this phase.

WHAT ARE THE REWARDS?

This will depend on where you are in the game but here is a general idea of Payouts.

24 White Belts (Always)
Laundry Detergent (Always)
2X Paint Brush (Uncommon Chance)

QUICK RECAP

  • Collect Fight Contracts
  • Find a Nerd
  • Pick a Character that will cause the most Damage and win the Battle
  • Collect Reward

There you have it, the overall idea of the Battles. Again I’m sorry this has been thrown together but I hope it answers some of your questions.

How are you doing in the Battles? Does this help you more? Any other tips you would offer fellow Players? Any more questions on the Battles not covered? Let us know.

  1. Hmm… my Dojo Peter seems to be taking a lot of critical hits… ;-/

    • If you look under the healing section in the post you will see the only freemium way to heal your fighter is to wait the 7 hours to their health restores, or to use the ONE free revive potion you get after Pt 6 of the main Questline.

  3. I didn’t know you could use two fighters. I swear when I tried, it just deselected the first. Strange. I’ll try it again when I can. Thanks!

  4. Reminds me of high school Wish we could give the nerds atomic wedgies or stuff them in a locker like the old days.

  5. I was having good success fighting nerds until the weekly challenge dropped. Then in my 1st battle 4 hours after starting the challenge I was hit right away with a critical hit and lost with no nerd win (he lost 4). Waited 8 hrs. Found the nerd with -4 points only to miss on my first hit. Paid third contract just to defeat him. Waited 8 hrs. Was defeated by the next nerd when I had a miss again. Now I’m waiting another 8 hours just to get my second nerd win. This challenge will be a close one for me unless my hits improve. Oh well. I’m having a blast with this event. Tip on the handdrums: after collecting from the Van’s Vans bldg put it in inventory then retrieve it and replace it in your town. I’ve collected the ‘rare’ item each time. This may just be luck but thought I’d share my results. Good luck everyone!

    • Ive had a couple of knockouts against me, but I’d say they have probably balanced out with the hits that have gone in my favour. I just completed the challenge, good luck.

  6. It’s odd that you don’t start healing as soon as you take damage. You actually have to get your health down to zero (as per the post). I did a battle and took damage. Then sent my character on an 8hr task. Then when done, they were still at the same damage. It’s also sad that whether they take 1 damage or 8 damage, they still require the same amount of potions to heal.More incentive I guess, to get them down to zero health I’m assuming…

  7. I wish there was a way to see which nerd was partially hit, rather than having to tap each one to see what there health is. Maybe like their belt could change color or something. ( hint hint TC if you’re reading this)
