Quahog Heat – How Did You Do? Poll Results

Hi there fellow addicts.

Yes, finally they’re in, the poll results from the Quahog Heat Event that many of you will be keen to see.

Firstly I’d like to take a minute to thank everyone who voted, seriously big thanks to all my fellow addicts who take the time to respond to these polls, without your interaction it just wouldn’t be possible to have posts like this, or to show TinyCo what we are thinking and would like to see in our games going forward. So thanks for taking that minute out of your day to be part of this community.

Now in recent polls I’ve added a few questions that will appear in all polls going forward, they are just to give a quick insight into our thoughts about events. They cover the fun factor in the event, how you describe the event and you’re favourite character or costume from the event.

So I’ll start with these, then get on with all the usual facts and figures. So I asked you to rate how much fun the event was, where 1 is no fun and 5 is lots of fun, I also asked you to choose from a list of words the one you felt described the event best and finally your favourite new character or costume released during the event, so here’s what you said.

Quahog Heat Event Fun Factor Rating:
2

Seems like this was seen as a tough event that was lacking in fun by the majority of players.

The three words used most to describe the Quahog Heat event:
Hard. Annoying. Imp ossicle.

There tie in with the frustrations we saw daily in the comments, this event was tough going due to the random nature of drops from Investigations.

Pamela Anderson

  1. The Power Rangers event has been a lot smoother for me. I like that the buildings are free to get in any order instead of having to get all of the ones in front of it. The drops have overall been better as well. I got Erik Estrada with less than an hour to spare, while I had about a day and a half left when i got the Blue Ranger. I would have enjoyed Quahog Heat a lot more with a few minor changes, but overall I thought it was pretty fun.

  2. I think putting characters costumes and full characters in the mystery box is terrible. I don’t even bother with one purchase try anymore. Just sell me the costume for 150. Good grief.

  3. Do we have stats on the “one word to sum up the event” question?

  4. For me it was a good event but overall it could have been better. Also I unlocked blue ranger today!

  5. Each time you do these polls the “did you purchase any premium characters, buildings or decorations” question, the answer “none” tends to be at 75% or higher. Doesn’t this indicate that the prices for these items are just set too high? I think we would all buy more if the prices weren’t so unreasonable, but as long term players, we all know that new characters or skins will end up being used rarely or not at all going forward. I feel that pricing characters or skins around 100 clans instead of the typical 240 or greater might get more people buying them. If more people buy them at the lower price than pass at the higher they may actually make more money (and lower player frustration). I feel the same with Mystery Boxes, nothing worse than paying inflated prices and getting a decoration. I think Tiny Co needs to try a lower priced event and see if sales increase this model doesn’t seem to be working.

  6. A couple of takeaways (IMHO) and one surprise…

First, the Quagmire costume sales were probably driven by people like myself who were hopeful he’d make a big impact…while he certainly helped in Phase 2 to defeat Consuela and allowed me to collect enough badge/items to completely clear the shop, I’m still thinking he was too expensive for an event ‘rental’, because that’s essentially what he is, a short-term rental costume that becomes useless once the event is over…

Second, once again, the addicts demonstrate they believe the costumes are overpriced and underutilized – 3% or less purchased the Joe, Mort and Cleveland costume…TinyCo should really rethink the sales approach to those – cutting the price down would more than make up for the price decrease as players would see them as having value and something they want…at the present prices, expect to see 3% be the norm as only the completest or someone who collects a particular character’s costume as the available market…

Third, the sales percentages of the Hasselhoff and MacGyver characters are probably a majority of people who are fans of those characters and really want them…that’s fine, totally understand, if Jerry Garcia ever ends up in FGTQFS, I will be the first one throwing clams at TinyCo…but, again, IMHO, TinyCo is leaving money/clams on the table by really only appealing to the fan and the completest as the vast majority of addicts will simply pass due to the perceived poor value of the character…

It’s possible TinyCo’s actual internal sales numbers are very different from what we see in the polls, but I don’t think so – I think the numbers represented here are probably a good approximation for the actual as you have the most dedicated of the addicts represented here and willing to answer a poll truthfully…

Finally, the biggest surprise is 5% actually achieved the Grand Prize for the weekly challenge as I think the vast majority of us found the Phase 2/Week 2 challenge to be virtually impossible…

Thanks again for all your work, Tigger, Bunny and Lotty!
