Wet Hot Quahog 101: Camp Wars Phase 3

So…. ummmm… It would seem we’re still at war, so who wants to follow me into the minefield of details for the battles that lie ahead.

Yes welcome to CAMP WARS round 3, and this time we’ve a new enemy in our sights, as Camp Rising Star beckons.

WHAT ARE THE CAMP WARS?

Well I’m not going to go over all the mechanics again as Bunny covered them in this post HERE. But I do want to say a few things to clear up a bit of confusion we’re seeing in the comments.

Firstly, yes we are again fighting new rivals in this phase, Camp Rising Star, but not every streak features them. Look closely you will notice in some Streaks you’re fighting Camp Firewood or Camp Bellyflop again, and this means you can use the previous phases Leaders on the Cannon but unlike Phase 2  thankfully the prizes whether for a defeat or a victory will be Fancy Care Packages not the previous phases Care Packages.

Also there’s been  changes to the dynamic of the battles, they are not as easy as Phase 2 to fly through, especially in the later Streaks. And a side Questline called Roll Call is running alongside your battles giving you a heads up on what Campers you need as a minimum for a Victory. So pay attention to either the Roll Call Questline in your task bar or by clicking the new Camp Wars in on at the bottom of your screen.

And finally when I was defeated at Streak 8 despite the fact I was fighting Camp Bellyflop I was awarded an Okay Care Package, not a Standard Care Package. That’s so not Okay and I’ve sent a support ticket to TinyCo to tell them so.

So that’s  just a few things to keep in mind as you go into the affray.

WHAT DO I NEED TO PLAY CAMP WARS?

Just like Phases 1 & 2 you need Campers, Leaders, and Water Balloons. And below you’ll find details of  the  new Campers added in Phase 3. However remember you can still select the Phase 1 & 2 Campers to accompany the new ones into battle. Also you’ll now need 6 Water Balloons per battle. A ridiculous amount considering there’s a timed character and everything else  to be done this Phase.

CAMPERS

Phase 3 Campers can, as usual, be unlocked in the Infirmary.
   Jock
Deer
Cat Actor

LEADERS

Phase 3 Leaders: can be created or purchased via Clams, be aware you can still use Phase 1 & 2 Leaders but who you can use varies in each Streak.

 Playwright Stewie
Ben the Producer

Susie the Director

WATER BALLOONS

Water Balloons (Uncommon): Random Questlines OR Jerome Fill Water Balloons OR Bonnie Stockpile Water Balloons OR Camp Pranks OR Wet Hot Mystery Box OR Okay Care Package OR Standard Care Package OR Fancy Care Packages Premium Care Package OR Hot Dog Eatung Contest OR Clam Buy

PHASE 3 NUMBERS ABOVE CAMP GROUNDS

You will notice the numbers above each Campground. This is the amount of Campers that need to cross to the other side.

This means that in order to WIN the Camp War, X amount of YOUR Campers (Camp Griffin) need to make it across the Bridge and into the opposing Campsite without being stopped by their Campers.

Now if X amount of THEIR Campers make it to your side before your Campers stop them, they will win the Camp War.

WHAT ARE THE PHASE 2 LIGHTNING POWER/UPGRADES?

As you unlock more Campers from the Infirmary, you will need the “Lightning Power” to be higher to release them to try to go to the other Campsite too.

Here are the different levels of each of new Campers released in Phase 2. But remember you can any of the Campers released to date at any Streak.

  Jock:
300 “Lightning Power”

Deer:
450 “Lightning Power”

Actor Cat:
700 “Lightning Power”

You can Level Up by using the “Lightning Power” on the center screen to Level Up INSTEAD of sending a Camper. For instance, as soon as it hits 125 “Lightning Power”, you can Upgrade to the next Level.

Here are the Levels as I saw them in my game for the Camp Wars…

Level 2 Upgrade
Cost: 400 “Lightning Power”
“Lightning Power” Level Increased To: 2100 “Lightning Power”

Level 3 Upgrade
Cost: 525 “Lightning Power”
“Lightning Power” Level Increased To: 2600 “Lightning Power”

Level 4 Upgrade
Cost: 650 “Lightning Power”
“Lightning Power” Level Increased To: 3000 “Lightning Power”

Level MAX
Cost: 750 “Lightning Power”
“Lightning Power” Level Increased To: 4000 “Lightning Power”

So as you can see, the more you Upgrade the more Campers can be released including the higher level/damage inflicting ones that have a better chance of making it across and being stopped.

WHAT ABOUT THE CANNON AND LEADERS IN PHASE 3?

This is an “extra” element to the Camp Wars. As you unlock Characters (or Clam Purchase) you will have an option to add another person to the Camp War Battle. A “Leader”.

But obviously you want to pick your strongest Leader from those you have available at each Streak

OVERALL QUICK CAP

  • Unlock Campers (as you can)
  • Collect Balloons
  • Unlock Leaders (as you can)
  • Start Camp War
  • Continually send Campers to Opposing Campsite
  • Use Water Cannon when possible to push back Opposing Campers
  • Win Materials to use for Event

What do you think of this feature now TinyCo have made more  changes? Do you notice any odd glitches still happening with this feature in your game? What Streak are you at? Any suggestions for fellow Players? Any other suggestions we can send to TinyCo to improve this feature? Let us know.

    L4 Jock
    L3 Deer
    L3 Athlete
    L3 Campfire
    L4 Popular Girl
    Ben on Cannon
and I’m failing miserably .. i still need 10 pianos with 8 hrs to go on Susie’s timer … i just need one more win … any suggestions ????

I couldn’t win Streak 11 until I got All Star Athlete to L4, sorry. What I did in the end was looked at how many balloons I had built up and noticed I had enough to loose 4 battles to get the 8 Pianos I needed as remember they drop 2 for a loss at that Streak. Is that a possibility for you?

Also if it’s character you really want and were thinking of buying her out with clams, don’t rush in as its 20 clams per piano, so say you needed 6, that would be 120 clans, however in the store there’s a sale on Water balloons, you can get 20 for only 76 clams, and that would let you fight and lose 3 battles, getting you the same 6 Pianos, at the cheaper cost of 76 clams.

      • it’s impossible to level up the Athelte girl now as i have lots of fancy packages in cue .. there’s 3 hrs left on Susie’s timer .. im waiting for the next package to unwrap in an hour and hopefully give me the last 2 deer cards i need to level him up to 4 .. maybe ill win then .. and hopefully in 2 hrs ill get 2 more balloons to have 12 balloons and get 4 more pianos and buy out the last 2 pianos for 40 clams .. although i dont really care about Susie but im too close to quit now …

      • Pretty sure Streak 11 is destined for the TinyCo “Hall of Shame’…when I wake up screaming, “STREAK 11!!!” in the middle of the night, my wife will have no idea why…and the fact it takes 27 hours (let’s just think about that, TWENTY-SEVEN HOURS??!??) to open 6 random Fancy Packages that may or may not contain anything to help you succeed is just TinyCo sticking a proverbial sharp stick in the eyes of their customers…

  2. The side quest Roll Call has disappeared for me and I’m just on Streak 6, getting my butt kicked. I’m having real problems moving forward. Does anyone have any tips on strategies for Streak 6 and onward? All help would be much appreciated. 😃 Also, any idea as to why Roll Call quest has disappeared for me? I have 7 quests total in my queue and I’ve had way more than that before so it shouldn’t too many.

  3. Update. I finally defeated Streak 11 at my 7th attempt. Used Popular Gal level 5, Athlete level 4, Swimmer level 3, Jock and Deer level 3. But what made the difference is that the rate at which mimes appeared slowed noticeably, by 50%. My insight is that the camp war difficulty is random, and no matter if your campers do not meet recommended requirements fully, you mainly need the difficulty of the war randomly reduced. Only way to achieve is to try and try, but upgrading your campers at same time. Thanks to Jeff and Ertigan and any others who shared their winning ways.

Now 9 pianos away from unlocking Susie, so I will use RT strategy of losing 5 times to get remaining pianos as i have a day left. Reckon you don’t need to win Streak 13 as stated to unlock Susie. Thanks to RT for this strategy! Would not think this possible if otherwise!

  4. Anyone have a trick to upgrade the deer to level 3? It’s been over a week and after pranking and opening boxes not one deer badge. Can’t seem to beat level 10 Camp War with any combination.

    Like

    • Not for me. Upgrade cards are random, so just gave to keep unwrapping. But a week for you seems too long. I’m taking longer now as I’m trying to upgrade to level 4. Try and send feedback about it.

  5. Question about the “recommended campers” – I’m on streak 10 in one game and streak 11 in anothe, losing both over and over despite all of my campers being at or higher than the recommended level.

But, on the recommended camper screen, it says “recommended campers – 6” – does that mean it’s showing me what I needed to beat streak 6, and not what I now need??

Also, if we’re throwing our two cents in as to what TinyCo is doing wrong – in addition to making the camp wars making no sense and lots of needed items “rare,” why on earth are the timers for the care packages so long? It takes DAYS to upgrade one camper 1 level…

Seriously in need of a fresh WTD post over here.

  6. Not sure if TC threw us a bone to make Streak 11 easier, but I just won using the following:
    Jock L4
    Deer L3
    Cat Actor L1
    Prankster L5
    Campfire Man L3
    NO CANNON

    • Does your mimes keep appearing one after another? Until there’s about 10 plus of them? I played twice and just easily swarmed by the army of mimes. Non stop streaming out of their camp. I am using Athlete and Swimmer level 3, Jock and Deer level 3 and Fireman level 4. Only got 51 pianos so far. 2 days more to unlock Susie. Slim chance but will try.

      Like

    • Maybe that L5 prankster did the job.
I have been trying L4 Jock, L3 All Star, Swimmer, and Deer, L1 Cat (best combination of damage) and Ben on cannon, and no good. Tried swapping out All Star for L3 Popular (best combination of health) and no good.
If I can get one more ballon in the next three hours I can take one more run at it, and I am considering swapping in my L4 Prankster, except that makes no sense on paper, it would just be two L4s in the mix!

      Like

      • So using my L4 prankster paid off, and I was able to unlock Susie. My working theory is either having another L4 character in the mix paid off, or the prankster acted as a holding force (cannon fodder) as they can come in so much more often.
        Doesn’t matter – it worked!

  7. Has there been some fix to the difficulty level in Streaks 11 onwards, given the updates for Week 4, which just arrived in my game today? I ask because I am trying to get enough cards to upgrade my Athlete to level 4, which is what was recommended for Campers levels for Streak 11. But the recommended requirement has now disappeared. So, we are on our own?

    Like

    • I still needed the L4 All Star Athlete, just got her and won. Now stuck at Streak 12 but I can just lose few battles to get the pianos I still need.

      Like

      • Thanks for confirming. Will need another a day to clear fancy packages before I can start to queue for standard care packages. These camp wars are so confusing and draining resources!

        Like

    • I was just able to upgrade Jock to level 4 but still lost. At present doesn’t seem Camp Wars are part of week 4 and neither is Susie, so I’m not spending a cent to get her. I don’t even have the right kind of Packages to upgrade athlete.

The Jock and Swimmer at L4 didn’t help me either, only won when I finally got All Star Athlete to L4. And no Camp Wars are not part of the last Phase

        Like

      • I just gave Streak 11 a try although Athlete is at level 3 and needed a day plus to unwrap for her cards to upgrade. Caught me by surprise as I had fancy packages in queue. Mimes just kept coming which I think may not matter even if you have Athlete at Level 4. However, I suspect the camp war inbuilt system would trigger less mimes once it recognized a Athlete level 4 for your camp. Perhaps. I will give it a try after Ben has a rest so he can man the cannon again.

  9. No chance I can beat 11 despite almost all campers being a level above the suggested. No way to level any of them up in time and I doubt I’ll get enough balloons to lose enough times. The only hope. Ow is the new content drops tonight and it resets to lower levels which still drop pianos.

I had quite a few glitches in past phases and tiny co never addressed the packages that I was jipped. I got 1 okay care package instead of a standard, and a glitch made 3 standard packages I opened disappear with no items gained. Very disappointed in them

  11. I can not complete level 11. I just lost with a lv5 cat, lv3 deer, lv3 jock, lv4 choc man, lv5 schupel and Ben manning the water gun. The Mimes just kept coming and wiped me out. The lvs are well over the recommended requirements. I don’t see how you can complete this streak at all.

  12. Holy crap I beat wave 11…
Here was what I had to do it
    Stewie on cannon
Lvl 3 – Campfire man and deer
Lvl 1 – cat actor (from the free premium packages way back)
Lvl 4 – popular girl AND jock
I can’t stress how much you need the lvl 4 jock for this
I lost five times already but once lvled up I could spawn him faster and it made all the difference having him tank with the popular girl. When he was only lvl 3 the above team still failed horribly

    Hope this helps

  13. Did they lower the difficulty on streak 10? I was getting destroyed by the mimes but now I was able to beat it quite easily using all the same characters I had been using. I noticed that the spawn rate of mimes was a lot lower than the previous attempts.

    • Maybe so people could advance to week four?

  15. Completely stuck at 10 same as I was at 6 despite having all campers at the levels suggested. 6 balloons instead of 3 is really killing it as it takes so much longer only to fail and get next to nothing.

  16. My new strategy: Lose. I’m at Streak Level 11 with no hope of upgrading campers enough to beat this level before Susie’s clock runs out. But I can get 2 pianos when I lose. Need 12 more pianos and a lot more balloons, but it may be possible. I think someone @ Tinyco got the maths wrong this week on level difficulty/# cards to upgrade campers/ time to unwrap packages. I don’t really think it’s doable as designed.

    • By Jove LucyLucyLucy I think you’ve got it! Play to lose! Genius!
I’ve got just about over 24 hours to collect the last remaining 14 pianos.
Every time I lose I get 2 pianos, so if I lose 7 times in the next 24 hours then I’ve done it! ( or at least get close enough that I can buy out the last couple of pianos for a reasonable clam amount)
Sometimes you have to think your way around a problem 😉

  17. For what my four-Penn’orth (or half-cent to my American mates) is worth, I feel that Tinyco should be applauded for trying to bring a little original gameplay into the game – the gym challenges in the Rocky event were great for instance – but if we are honest this event has been a disaster.
There has been God-knows how many crashes and glitches and if an end-of-event poll shows that more than 10% of us have managed to actually unlock either Wild Brian or Director Suzy I’d frankly be amazed.
Someone far cleverer than me said on another post that Tinyco are now aiming beyond freeplay and even premium players to make the game almost impossible for us mere mortals, and sadly I’ve got to agree.
It’s a game guys! It’s supposed to be fun! I’m English and I can get my daily dose of misery from the weather, I play your game to get some light relief not to be mentally tortured for Gods sake…
Apologies for the rant and it’s really not like me, but this event has strung me out tighter than a damned mandolin!

  19. Here is the data from my last attempt at Streak 10, using exactly their recommended campers, namely:
    jock lv 3
    deer lv 2
    swimmer lv 3
    athlete lv 3
    fire guy lv 2
I paid attention to the achievement task stats before and after and concluded that I had:
    deployed 32 campers
    defeated 6 rival campers.
[This says roughly 1 mime = 5 of the above recommended campers.]
And at the end of the battle, in addition to the 7 mimes that scored, the opponents still had about 10 mimes walking across. (If the graphic didn’t disappear so quickly, I would’ve taken a photo.) And these are the ones I could see. So that means:
at least 17 mimes survived at the end of the battle.
So I would need at least 5*17 = 85 more campers deployed to have a chance? We don’t know because we don’t know the rules of the game such as, do all campers battle simultaneously? or only the ones “first in line”? This makes a big difference in strategy.

  22. Stuck on Streak 6. *sigh* I need a bunch more…Scripts? I think? Whatever Kid Quagmire collects & of course, Videotapes, to unlock Ben, meaning I’m stuck having only Peter as Leader. Meh.

The numbers above the headquarters/water cannon never update – it goes straight from, say, 6/6 to 0/6. I have no idea what the beep & applause are supposed to indicate – any ideas? Sometimes I can see the feuding Campers, other times I can’t. ARGH!

I actually kinda like the Camp Wars feature; I just wish I could understand what’s going on/where I stand better. Things like this TC absolutely needs to spell out for players, but they NEVER do. Very frustrating (as opposed to very challenging, which is still fun, kwim?)!

    Like

  23. TC needs to remove the “suggested campers/levels” for battles. Premium players are at a distinct disadvantage simply because a freemium camper is not at a requisite level (e.g. Deer) when they have more than enough firepower to compensate. Also, the badge drops needed to upgrade are too few and far between. I foresee many stuck at level 10 and waving goodbye to Susie due to poorly thought out game mechanics.

    • Same here. They defeat (even my very high level) characters in no time at all. They cut through them all (no matter what level any of my characters are – and they are at least a level higher than the in-game recommendations) like a [hot] knife through butter.

I would have to say that I think this is probably the worst event the game has ever had. There have been a few shockers in the past but they have really outdone themselves this time. Game crashes, glitches, things not working as they should.. the list goes on.

  25. Given that balloons are hard to come by and high cost of balloons needed for each Streak, I’d hope to have a very good chance of winning each time I play. Do you recommend you make sure that your campers are always meeting the recommended requirements? Or just go with it? Jock upgrades are tough and not easy to get.

  26. Camp wars would be more fun if it was possible to have more graphics that showed the “hit points” left in each combatant. This would at least show us how close we are to defeating certain opponents and how our combatants are doing. This would allow us to revise our strategies after a defeat. This would increase the fun factor because we would learn from defeats and defeats are okay if we learn something. But when all we see is that a group of mimes simply march right in and defeat us, we gain no knowledge to help us in future battles and that is just frustrating and no fun. I hope TC improves such game elements. There is potential for good fun if done better.

    • I have to agree. I’m giving them one more event. If iy has any of the nonsense that this one has had I am deleting this game. Between impossible to get badges and timed characters with unattainable item lists. I really like this game but if yhis is what Ibhave to look forward to it simply isn’t worth it.

    • -1 🙂

Sorry, but I feel I must again remind people that we BEGGED for “new game play”, and while it is obvious that more testing should have been done before this particular game was released, it sounds like it would have been a fun game, if it had worked as intended!

Disclaimer; once again: I am not playing this event, but am reading EVERY post, so I feel your pain! 🙂 I guess I just got lucky, or experienced a psychotic – Wait: I mean PSYCHIC! 😉 – episode before the event started, and decided to sit this one out… But I have been tempted, many times, to start playing, just to see if I was one of the lucky ones whose Camp Games worked, and to see if it was fun… Probably a good thing I have (so far) restrained myself.

Try to keep calm and carry on, fellow Addicts!

      • It wouldnt be so bad if it didn’t pretty much cripple your ability to advance. TC made it way to complicated, first we have to get mu)ple 3 hour drops, then maybe you’ll win the camp batlle then you wait 3-4.5 hours to get who knows what. Balloons & tokensbshould be an always drop and care packages should have been set sobwe know what we need. But the fact that we have pretty much no control over the battles makes it inconsequential, it’s not skill based or even equipment based, it is entirely what the fame lets slip through.

      • I’m all for new gameplay, but this one simply isn’t fun. “New” most certainly isn’t always “better”!

There really doesn’t seem to be much strategy or skill involved – you can play it like a well-oiled machine and still get steamrolled because your characters aren’t at the right level. The main issue being that there is literally no feedback as to the strength of the opposition, and until recently there was no way to know what level you’re supposed to be on to win.

I would’ve settled for some extra Strength & Defense counters so at least I know why I’m taking a beating. As it stands I’m just licking my finger and seeing which way the wind is blowing while my characters get stomped.

It is slightly better with the “recommended campers” display, but as of Streak 10 I am currently exceeding the recommendation and still getting my butt handed to me without explanation. Overall, it’s unfair and no fun.

I actually do wish I’d sat this one out – meh buildings & decos, completely unknown characters, no relation to FG, tedious gameplay etc.

  30. I actually like this feature as it’s exciting, something is happening immediately rather than waiting FOUR AND A HALF HOURS FOR A FANCY PACKAGE TO “UNWRAP”, REALLY??!??!?… sorry, sorry…I’m better…seriously, it’s a shame that they’ve had so many glitches associated with the Camp Wars, as it could have been a good feature…
