Guys In Black 101: Edgar The Bug

Time to put on your Skin Suits!

“Y’know, I’ve noticed an infestation here. Everywhere I look, in fact. Nothing but undeveloped, unevolved, barely conscious pond scum, totally convinced of their own superiority as they scurry about their short, pointless lives.”

With 78 Million mouths to feed, this crazy Bug has decided to drop into our silly lil Quahogs for the Guys in Black Event to see what tasty human morsels he can scrounge up. Edgar the Bug is in our games.

Just what does he do for the Event? Let’s take a look.

For more information on the Event, go to the Event Page HERE

WHEN DOES EDGAR APPEAR?

During the Main Questline, The New Black Pt 4, you will trigger Edward the Bug Information. You will have to wait for him to appear before you can battle him.

He will show up over by the Event Area next to his Crashed Spaceship. He will transform in and out of his Edgar Suit.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BATTLE EDGAR?

Extra Strong Bug Spray. You will need 2 for every Battle you want to start with Edgar the Bug.

Extra Strong Bug Spray: Clear Ballchinians

WHAT CHARACTERS CAN BATTLE EDGAR?

You have the option to select UP TO 3 Characters to Battle with Edgar. You will just need to make sure they are available, unlocked, and not in the healing process.

The more you add to YOUR TEAM, the stronger Hit Power you will have to Battle and take down Edgar.

Agent Zed

Agent Pee

The Worms

WHAT KIND OF DAMAGE CAN EACH CHARACTER DO?

The 3 Characters that can Battle Edgar the Bug each have their own Hit Power, Health, and % Chance they will deliver a knockout blow during a Battle and completely take their opponent out.

AGENT PEE
Health
: 6
Hit Power: 4
% Chance: 20% Chance

AGENT ZED
Health
: 8
Hit Power: 4
% Chance: 30% Chance

THE WORMS
Health
: 10
Hit Power: 6
% Chance: 30% Chance

WHY CAN’T I SELECT MY CHARACTER?

There can be a couple of reasons you are unable to SELECT a Character to go to Battle.

BUSY: If the Character you want to use is on a Task elsewhere in the game, you will see the word BUSY and a GET Icon next to them. If they are on a Task, tapping GET will take you to them and ask if you want to finish that Task right away for Clams.

NOT UNLOCKED: If you have not Clam Purchased a Character or you are still collecting Materials in the game to Unlock a Character, they will also show up with a Lock Icon and a GET Icon next to them. You will need to continue earning their Required Materials & Unlock them in order to use them for Battle.

HEALING: After a Character’s Health is dropped to Zero, they go through a Healing Process (Currently 8hrs). While they are Healing, you can’t use them to Battle.

HOW LONG WILL CHARACTERS HEAL?

The Current Healing time frame I am seeing on the Characters that dropped to Zero Health after a Battle… is 8hrs.

You will see a HEAL Icon next to them in the Battle Screen along with a timer showing you how much longer you will have to wait before being able to Revive them.

Can I Heal them Instantly?
YES. If you want to speed up the Healing Process and want your Character to Battle right now, you can tap on the HEAL Icon and use Revive Potion to give them their full strength back instantly. The Game will ask you if you are sure you want to use this method.

How many Revive Potions do I have?
There is a Revive Potion Icon above the Characters in the Battle Screen that will show your current available count of Revive Potions left.

How do I get Revive Potions?
Currently, these are only available as a Clam Purchase option. You will find them in your Shopping Cart to buy. More options may open up in the future.

x15 Revive Capsules600

x8 Revive Capsules340

x3 Revive Capsules150

Or you will see a pop up at end of a battle to HEAL CHARACTERS. Tapping in it will give you the option to pay 72 Clams to HEAL a Character just once.

Same if you don’t have any Revive Potions and tap on HEAL in the Battle screen, 72 Clams one time buy Revive option will appear.

WHAT KIND OF DAMAGE CAN EDGAR DO?

Edgar the Bug will be battling back against the Characters. He also will have a Health, Hit Power, and Chance of dealing Knockout Blows (though it is an unknown %). This is why using more than one Character can be beneficial to take him down. His Health and Hit Power are high.

EDGAR THE BUG
Health
: 16
Hit Power: 18
% Chance: UNKNOWN

This means he can attack multiple Characters up to 18 Points.

WHAT KIND OF REWARDS CAN I GET FROM BATTLING EDGAR?

The Rewards you will receive will depend on whether you WIN (NEURALIZED) the Battle or LOST (ATTACK OVER) the Battle. So your Rewards will vary.

These are the kind of Rewards I saw in my game. Keep in mind some may only show when that Character is available to earn.

WIN Chance Payout:
  +6 Neuralyzers
+1 Gourmet Soil
+ 20 Alien Slime
+40 MIB Badges

A Winning Battle means that you dropped Edgar the Bug’s Health to Zero, even if your Character is wiped out in the process too. You will still get Rewards for the Win.

LOSS Chance Payout:
+15 Alien Slime
+4 MIB Badges

A Losing Battle means you were not able to get Edgar to Zero Health before you Character(s) did, so you will still get a payout… just smaller for the loss. You can also keep trying after a loss until you defeat Edgar.

HOW DO I START A BATTLE?

When you see Edgar the Bug, with or without the Edgar Suit on, in the Event Area… tap on him and his Battle Screen will open up.

Then Select 1, 2, or 3 Characters to Battle Edgar. (You can UNSELECT a Character if you change your mind)

You will need TWO Extra Strong Bug Sprays for Each Battle. Once you have selected your Character(s) AND if you have at least TWO Extra Strong Bug Sprays, then you will see the Button under Edgar the Bugs Image light up green with BATTLE. Tap on it to Start the Battle.

The Animation Screen will then appear and you will watch as your Character(s) attempt attack hits on Edgar and Edgar on them. You will know how strong each hit was by the RED NUMBER that floats up to their Health Bar after each hit.

Once complete, the Reward Screen will appear showing you if you won or lost the Battle and what Materials you will be Rewarded will be.

NEUTRALIZED! = WIN

ATTACK OVER= LOSS

HOW CAN I DEFEAT EDGAR?

With a little bit of strategy, and a little bit of luck, you can take down Edgar the Bug. Overall, you need to find a way to Hit Edgar and take away all 16 of his Health Points.

Here are some Examples of how a Battle may play out for you…

EXAMPLE #1
Agent Pee
: Hit Edgar -4
Edgar: Hit Agent Pee -6
Battle: Loss
Result: Agent Pee will now have to Heal before he can Battle again. Edgar is down 4 Points to 12 remaining.

EXAMPLE #2
Agent Pee: Hit Edgar -4
Agent Zed: Hit Edgar -4
Edgar:
Hit Agent Pee -6
Hit Agent Zed -8
Battle: Loss
Result: Agent Pee & Zed will now have to Heal before they can Battle again. Edgar is down 8 Points to 8 remaining.

EXAMPLE #3
Agent Pee:
Hit Edgar -4
The Worms: Hit Edgar -6
Edgar:
Hit Agent Pee -6
Hit The Worms -10
Battle: Loss
Result:
Agent Pee & The Worms will now have to Heal before they can Battle again. Edgar is down 10 Points to 6 remaining.

Now looking at the Examples, it appears that winning can’t be done. NOT TRUE. I noticed fighting Edgar as well as the Ballchinians that there is the Element of Chance in there for Knockouts. So a LOT more points can easily be thrown at Edgar the Bug and he can be taken out sooner.

Also after you finish a Battle, Heal, and collect more Bug Spray, you can try again to take out Edgar the Bug. So if he is left at a lower number already (like only 6 remaining) then it will not take too much more to defeat him and win.

EXAMPLE #4 (Edgar only has 6 Health Left)
Agent Pee:
Hit Edgar -6 (Knockout)
Edgar:
Hit Agent Pee -6
Battle:
WIN!!!
Result:
Agent Pee will now have to Heal before he can Battle again. Edgar is now defeated and will disappear again to return at a later time.

EXAMPLE #5 (Edgar only has 6 Health Left)
The Worms
: Hit Edgar -6
Edgar: Hit The Worms -10
Battle: WIN!!!
Result: The Worms will now have to Heal before they can Battle again. Edgar is now defeated and will disappear again to return at a later time.

If you have all 3 Characters in your game and initiate an Attack on Edgar the Bug, you will have a greater chance of him not completely taking all 3 Characters out… as he only has the ability to attack up to 18 Hit Points.

EXAMPLE #6
Agent Pee:
Hit Edgar -4
Agent Zed: Hit Edgar -4
The Worms: Hit Edgar -6
Edgar:
Hit Agent Pee -6
Hit Agent Zed -8
Hit The Worms -4 (as he can only hit up to 18 Points)
Battle: Loss
Result:
Agent Pee & Zed will now have to Heal before they can Battle again. Edgar is down 14 Points to 2 remaining. The Worms can now do Battle again against Edgar as they still have 6 Health remaining after the Battle. That will be a good chance that Edgar will be defeated on the 2nd Battle now with his 2 Health Remaining.

HOW DO I KNOW HOW MUCH HEALTH EDGAR HAS LEFT?

You can either tap on him in the Event Area, or just look above his head. He does show a Heart Health Counter right above him as he is hanging out in the Event Area by his ship.

This can help you to know some possible combinations of Character(s) attacks that you can set up to try and defeat him fully.

WHEN WILL EDGAR THE BUG BE BACK TO BATTLE AGAIN?

Right now there is not a time frame for Edgar returning after he has been defeated in Battle. In my game, it is within 24hrs after a defeat I am seeing his return. Just not a pinpoint exact time I can offer.

  1. One huge improvement from these battles in the past is that there’s now an indicator to show how much health Edgar or a Ballchinian has if you have not defeated it. This is especially helpful if Agent Peter does not finish off the Ballchinian at one go, and you need to search for the half-defeated Ballchinian in your town after 8 hours of healing. Credits to Tinyco for this small but very helpful improvement. I am going to write a feedback to tell them to keep this going.

  2. Agent P can also miss completely, despite being at point blank range, so you lose your resources for no gain. Anyway, I attacked multiple times and eventually killed Edgar, which is probably going to be my greatest achievement in this event, as the worms might get away!

  3. So looks like Edgar doesn’t heal (or time out and return with full health like many previous boss battles have)? Is that correct? If so, that’s not too bad. Will take a couple of days to defeat freemium w/ just Peter and not paying to heal him, but doable. If he does heal, that’s going to be tough going.

    • He heals, but after being defeated and going away Then coming back full strength.

I have not however seen a timer on him like some bosses in past where you had like 24hrs to get them to zero health. A timer never sparked nor showed, at least not in my game.

  4. not battling him yet as i haven’t repaired the worms yet (i still need 2 buildings that drop their items) and i dont want to miss out on the item he drops for the worm
also why is it only Agent Pee who battles both Ballchinian and Edgar ? they should put another old freemium character like Quagmire or Lois to fight him while we collect for the worms ..!!!

    • I’ve found drops for the Worms to be good so far, and some good news the defeats of the Ballchinians I did prior to repairing the Worms actually awarded Luxury Cigars, so when I repaired them I had 3 already banked that I wasn’t expecting.

      • yeah i noticed im getting cigars too …

      • Same here, I’ve got 4 days 6 hours left on the Worms timer and at this point, I only need 9 more Party Games. I placed all of the building prior to activating their timer, and also was pleasantly surprised to have Cigars already counting…the buildings didn’t drop until the timer started, but Ballchinians did drop Cigars…
