A Very Griffin Holo-Ween – Review & How Did You Do Poll

Hey there readers, I’d like to welcome you to this spooky story, where today I’m going to be talking about the event that just was, A Very Griffin Holo-Ween-ween. After 5 weeks and endless murder and mayhem it’s all over but for the poll, and that’s where we will find out if this event saw you feeling like a survivor or chopped liver.

Now I usually do a big, long winded, rambling review of events but I’m finding since many of the recent events are clones of what’s gone previous I’m writing the same each time. This isn’t fun to write and it must be getting boring for you to read, so I thought I decided after the last event to cut it short and just tell you what I liked and didn’t like.

What I liked:

  • Suitably horrifific Halloween themed content
  • 5 new characters available freemium
  • Demon Stewie finally released as a character costume in the game
  • Return of Achievement Task
  • No timers that saw Characters disappear is unlock requirements not met within them
  • Bonus clams for completing character unlocks within set time
  • Clam costs seemed a little better than in some events
  • Resoyrce drops were good, in my game anyway
  • Slashed sale prices on many returning characters and costumes
  • Zombie mini-game
  • Shorter side Questlines

What I didn’t like:

  • Nothing spend excess Zombie Metals on
  • Upgrade loop glitch rearing its ugly head again
  • Mystery Boxes containing materials
  • Freezing and lagging in game

Now if you can please take a minute to complete the end of event poll at the end of this post I’d be very grateful. Please note for those that experience the jump glitch when answering poll questions, there’s a direct link at the bottom of the page that will help you avoid this problem, just keep scrolling to the bottom.

And just incase you can’t see the poll or find it jumps about when you’re trying answer, here’s the direct link:

  1. I started the event almost a week late as I just needed to have some down time after the previous event. However, I still managed to get some items and a couple of free characters, so I’m happy. I only got to Part (Wave?) 3, so the Creeper was my last unlock. I’m now able to enjoy Casino event…….💜X

  2. I agree with everyone, basically. No timed characters, no glitches, the return of Achievement Tasks, and I managed to unlock three new characters, which is more than usual for me. Good stuff !
Funny dialogues too, and very meta when Stewie referenced the fact that players often skipped dialogues ! 😀
However, the second wave became very slow and repetitive. I don’t remember the details, but it took me forever to get all the materials I needed to unlock Zombie Chris. And that meant I was only in the third wave when the event came at and end.

  4. One nice thing Tinyco did that didn’t get enough attention was the ‘no ‘repeats’ on the 2nd mystery box. Even though I got him in 2 tries I really wanted John Wick and it was great that I could go in eyes open as to the max I could be looking at. If they’d done the same with the first one I’d have got Machete too.

  5. First 3 weeks were really enjoyable, the content was great, and everything was achievable so i was bang up to date with everything.

As it moved into Week 4 though I started to fall behind due to dodgy drops and then when Week 5 hit I was about 4 days behind, had no ‘brains’ available to spend on buildings, not enough items to exchange for brains, no weapons to kill anything, and about 500 livers and eyeballs which were useless, so I never managed to catch up and missed out on Candyman by quite a distance.

Like others have said, doing the zombie mini-game to get tokens that couldnt even be used for anything except some crappy pumpkin deco’s was a bit of a jip.

The clams for completing tasks or unlocking characters within a timeframe were a really nice touch though so I hope this continues for the xmas event.

  6. I found this to be a great event, the first three weeks being much easier than the last two. I unlocked candy man with twenty spare minutes, only by spending clams. The timed clams was such a bonus.

  7. I agree with the point that there were a lot of materials “ wasted” at the end of the event, but one thing that drove me crazy was being forced to pay cash in order to buy characters. Billy the puppet, Carl from the convenience store and maniac pope were all made available but only if you purchased clam packs! I am sat on nearly 700 clams but I couldn’t used them to buy these characters as I was being forced to buy a bundle package for cash.
What is the point of buying clam packs when there is a sale on, or when they come with bonus materials as a reward, then they make your previous purchase worthless as you can’t use them to buy new characters?
I also wanted to take a chance on the mystery box towards the end of the event, to try and win Danny Trejo, but what use were livers or hands in week 4 or 5?

  8. My only real complaint was the offers to Billy, Albert & Superdevil with cash, noboption to use clams. I also noticed a similar offer for another character today. I hope this is not a new trend. I specifically built up clams for this event but it turned out not to matter because it required cash instead.

  9. This event was around 2 weeks too long and I was bored having to collect 500 items each week. I truly regret buying Satan as it screwed me over for the whole event, generally causing me to be 1-2 days behind and missing at least half of the clam timers.

  10. This is the first event in a long time in which as a freeium player that i was a) able to get/earn everything and b) do it in a timely fashion such that I was able to build up items for the next week or even relax for the last 2 days.

what helped me out in this was buying Hannibal and Wick right away (with clams I had earned for free). Its seem with these events, if you can get that guy for the first week, it will set you far ahead for the next couple of weeks.

  11. Hi RT – you’re spot on with your comments, IMHO…

Overall, it was a successful and entertaining event for me…

My number one like was offering a reward for unlocking a character/costume with in a time frame rather than making it timed…I hope we’ve seen the end of timed characters/costume as they are just punitive and demoralizing…

My number two like was the number of freemium characters as well as the sales on costumes, etc…

My number one dislike is the wasted currency throughout and at the end of the event…early on, one could trade gas cans for fire bombs, so I thought that’s be a good trend going forward…not so…I wasted so many items in the Gun Store from early in the event – they were irrelevant, but the event precluded one from putting certain characters into Tan Lines, so I just kept creating irrelevant stuff…and while I liked the zombie mini-game, I ended up with almost 2000 medals that were evidently only useful for obtaining useless pumpkin decos…I saw no need to waste inventory space, so the medals went into the Great Internet Abyss along with hundreds of virtual weapons, silver bars, gun magazines, gas cans, etc…not to mention a lot of various body parts…

But, overall, pretty good, I really can’t complain…

    • Have to agree about the wasted currency as towards the end of the game had lots of items that couldn’t be traded for currency, also the number of baddies seemed to have an effect on the numbers spawned so towards the end the numbers that could be hit by the torches seemed to take forever to appear, so only started to hit 1 or 2 instead of the 4 despite waiting for hours for them to appear.

  12. I agree with most of your likes/dislikes with this event. Although, I personally thought that the zombie theme was a bit lackluster and one-dimensional (compared to previous Halloween events). Plus, the inclusion of John Wick items made zero sense, and seemed to be nothing more than content filler when they ran out of ideas.

I particularly enjoyed the Achievement Tasks and the lack of timers on characters. These two factors alone made the event worth playing, and helped keep the panic factor to a fairly low level. It also is worth mentioning that I appreciated not having a cap on fully crafted weapons – it made a huge difference.

The downside was having way too many squatters to deal with (again) – this always causes lagging/crashing, and has been the go-to device for events for far too long. Also, the lack of decoration options was painfully obvious – especially when the Zombie Shooting Gallery paid out an exclusive currency that could only be used for 3 lonely pumpkins. Pretty lame…

Overall, the gameplay was highly favorable on this one. However, the content was so poor that any evidence of my playing this event will be stashed out of sight into either the inventory or Tan Lines.

  13. The best event for a very long time IMO. TinyCo finally listening? Seems so.
Much fairer timers with the clam reward rather than losing out on a character. Much fairer collects with mostly common and uncommon (hardly any rare).
Lots of good stuff for freemium players.
    Like the achievements.
Could have done more with old materials and weapons. Especially on an event like this where we could kill more zombz. I’d have loved it if every weapon killed all zombies but you needed to use more of them.
