Task Fast Forward Feature Addicts Poll!!!

Seeing quite a few comments from players regarding the recently introduced task fast forward feature.

I can’t give you a load of information as this is in testing just now, but basically this feature allows you to fast forward/rush tasks in exchange for watching videos. It’s in a limited number of players games and whether it is rolled out further will depend on how it impacts the test games stability and of course it’s effect on game play. So I thought I’d take a minute to find out how many of our readers have this fast forward feature in their games by putting up a quick poll. Thanks in advance.

  1. Not sure what others are seeing, but I had this feature when it first was released, then it disappeared for a while, and now it is back. I have not noticed any difference yet, in how it works, so I am not sure if they have changed anything or are just rotating who gets it.

    • It only looks like it disappears. You have a cap per day and then it goes away and reappears the following day around midnight. I did t actually count, but it seems like maybe 10 x FF for playable characters and then 10 x FF for buildings. Two separate caps. When I can’t speed up anymore players, I can go and speed up buildings that drop things — until I hit that cap.

      • No: It disappeared completely for about a month, and I certainly didn’t “use” the feature, as the Fast Forward icons were not there to use. Now they are back. I do see the limitations now, reducing the number of Clams for Videos, if I use FF, but that wasn’t the issue for the past month.

So far as I’m concerned this feature is great how it is and I hope it stays exactly as now. It’s really helping me to finish events and usually a bit early too. This has definitely contributed to maintaining my interest in the game, instead of giving it up. I don’t understand anyone complaining they’re bored – surely there’s plenty to do in life outside the game. So you’ll never hear that complaint from me!

My favourite use of the video rush has been after obtaining a building that gives double drops. Watch a bunch of videos and collect a whole pile of much needed items from those – very rewarding. Also as others have said, it’s really handy to speed up and sync tasks that haven’t quite finished before you have to get sleep, go to work, etc.

I think that clam TV pays out fewer clams after you use the video rush feature, so I’m receiving fewer free clams now, but don’t mind that since the video rushes are such good value. It would often cost several clams to rush by clams compared to just watching a video… making the video option a bargain!

  3. I love it. If I want a challenge, I try to finish the week’s events 5 days early. So I set a goal to finish the Wednesday Phase 2 events by the Saturday prior. But I love having 5 extra days to stockpile a dozen extra ice picks and 60 breath for the next phase, in case they are helpful. I can keep playing very leisurely without stressing about finishing. It’s way more enjoyable for me with the FF button. There’s a new element of strategy for choosing where and when to expend a 2-hour FF quota for the day. Spend 4 to complete an 8-hour tasks in 2 minutes — or spend 2 x 2 hours on one character and 2 x 2 hours to complete a 4-hour tank in 1 minute? I’m not bored finishing early. It gives me a nice break to relax, actually.

I don’t really see need for strategy any more if you can finish by the Saturday Tristan. I have enough clams to complete the Week within hours of the weeks content dropping, if the event mechanism allows, i.e. dont need wait for spawns, but I prefer to play some of it the way it’s intended, poor drops and all. It keeps my interest that way. But everyone plays different, my point is not everyone is getting the feature. However others are saying it’s disappearing from their game so maybe others will get a test of it now.

    • It is a much greater sense of accomplishment when your strategy pays off and you earn an event character with little time left to spare. It is much more satisfying to get the character if there is a chance thst you may not earn it in the time allotted. I want to play a game, not just tap and collect

  4. my best advice to everyone who has this feature is to really jus use up your ad-speedups wisely! daily obviously. i’ve noticed a little limit but after about an hour or so i , im able to use them again. don’t just go through them all on one thing or all at once because if you time yourself and get use to it then choose carefully will make your play more successful and gracious. your play will be awesome when you choose which and when how and why . so glad everyone is enjoying this!!!

    • This is the issue, it’s letting some players rush through, then next thing they are bored waiting for the next phase, whilst players who don’t have the feature get annoyed as they are struggling to be ready for the next phase when it drops. They need to find a fair balance.

  6. it IS limited for me .. i can only rush like 10 building tasks and 10 character tasks per day .. (maybe a bit more idk) but it’s really helpful 🙂 Unlimited would be a disaster …

    • Thanks for your info. So far I seem to have some players that are using it more than that so there must be a glitch with limiting it in their games, so basically it’s unlimited, others are saying the ability to fast forward possibly refreshes in an hour or so, others like yourself getting a total of 20 fast forwards per day, then the other half of the players don’t see this at all so get nothing. Mmm, mixed bag of crazy there.

  7. Unless they are rotating the feature among players, this may be a moot discussion . The FF option has disappeared for me, for a couple days now. Do others still have it?

    • Others are still posting about it, so looks like it.

    • the button for it disappears after you’ve used up a number of the speed ups per day it seems. i see around here that number 10 is the limit but that hasn’t been the case for me sort of kind of.

      • Yeah, I gathered that, but now I have not seen the option in at least 4-5 days, so I cannot have “over used” it… I have also not viewed the Clam TV for a few days, so I am not using up some assumed allotment of Clams there, either. It simply looks like they took the feature away from me. I don’t think I abused it; certainly not compared to others who have commented, so either it randomly disappears, or TC/JC decided I don’t deserve it. 😦 (Good thing I didn’t get too attached. ;-))

Could be they are randomly giving players for short Times testing out different devices and such, see if problems occur.

  8. It has appeared and disappeared a couple of times, but I have it now. I really like it. If anything, I’d like to see a counter of how many fast forwards I have available. Be nice for strategy purposes.

  9. One never HAS to spend clams. I am glad zi do not have the feature. A key to playing has always been patience. It kills that and makes the game less challenging. Msybe just a way to stop all the whining support ticketd from people who do not understand probabilities as the game dies.

If it is left in games as is it will for me signal the end of the game, as players rushing through the weeks event in a day or two then get bored waiting for more content. And those who don’t have feature and are struggling get irked at an unfair playing field. For me getting your strategy right for each week has been key. But we’ll see what happens but at end of the day it’s just a game.

      • I have the feature but it’s honestly not *that* easy to get way ahead. They still have a lot of mechanics that can’t be sped up, and it’s really quite tedious having to play dozens of ads to get ahead. I tried rushing a 4 hour task something like 8 times (in 2 hour sections) and gave up after that. While I don’t have to actually watch the ad (I just look at my 2nd monitor) it still takes time to get through it. It’s also fantastic for rushing a few tasks before I have to go to bed, instead of either staying up later or just missing out on the rewards until morning. Or I’ve rushed a “chance drop” task because I only needed one last item and didn’t want to wait until the next day. I’d much rather watch a couple of ads than waste my clams.

Some are managing to use it to speed through, I think it’s good if it a helping hand but for some it’s accelerating play way beyond what was anticipated.

          • Some people also use clams to speed through, so I really don’t see the difference. The last event had those building tasks, where they find the Alien or Protestors, that could only be sped up with clams. I think the item crafting (e.g. make a lobster plate) was the same. So as long as there’s still some limits then it doesn’t give that much advantage.

For example, to unlock Evening Prince I could the speed up function to get my remaining 20 ice cubes… but that would mean watching a minimum of 40 ads. Then I need 46 concealers, so I’d need to watch another 46-92 ads depending on if I can get 2 or 1 icebergs with each axe. I’m happy to watch a few extra ads here or there, but not that many.

If someone really wants to watch 100+ ads then good luck to them – but they obviously have no reason to complain at all if they are “bored waiting for more content” afterwards. Similarly if people want to shoot themselves in the foot “for the challenge” then good luck to them too. It really doesn’t matter how other people play, as it’s all throwaway content these days. We’re not in competition with each other either.

The only downside I see is that they’ll make the tasks longer or the goals further away, essentially making it required to speed up tasks.

Overall it’s a positive feature that I hope everyone will have access to soon.

I think the issues for me is there are players that are doing exactly that and rushing then complaining, and the other issue as I said is not everyone has access to it.

I just feel we need a better judgement call from TinyCo on what’s a priority, to me it’s fixing the ever increasing glitches that are seeing a haemorrhaging of players rather than testing out this function in games. Luckily for those who have it it’s not caused any new big glitches.

  10. While I like the feature, I think it goes a bit too far, at least without limitations. If it was limited to a few uses per day, like “videos for clams” and “visting friends”, it would be more acceptable to me. As it is, it seems like cheating. Disclaimer: I DO use it, but only to rush a task that I would like to restart before bed, that is critical to my progress, within a set time limit. Otherwise, I still use Clams to rush tasks, if it is only one or two Clams.
(I really think they should have designed the Video FF feature only serve to BYPASS a task (with NO drop), as we had asked for, for ages.)

Thanks for the feedback, I agree with you, without limiting it we will see players fly through content then be bored waiting for more, we need have a happy medium of it helping players complete a weeks content but not in a day.

  11. I like the feature also. The only drawback is you can only use it for 4 – 5 times before it stops working. I tried to speed it up for the last event to finish off the quest but fell short of the task. No point spending clams to earn 5 clams for completing the event.

  12. I actually kind of like this feature, as it saves you from having to spend clams to “finish” a task, in which those clams you are saving can be saved up for other items or characters/skins. It’s just a 30 – 35 sec ad for 2 hours.

    I like it.
