Seeing quite a few comments from players regarding the recently removed task fast forward feature.
As you know I can’t give you a load of information on this as I’ve not had it in my game, but basically this feature allows you to fast forward/rush tasks in exchange for watching videos. I’ve named this playing “speedium“.
It was in a limited number of players games and whether it is rolled out again will probably depend on how it impacted the games stability and of course it’s effect on game play.
Anyway a fellow reader p, Chris K, asked if I’d put up a post where you could discuss the feature, and here it is. Feel free to chat about it here or fast forward to the next post.
I lost the fast forward awhile ago. I accidently spent a bunch of clams and dropped below 1300 clams and it returned. I just got the bonus clams and went to 1305 and lost it. Spent 100 clams and it came back so I think there might be a limit of around 1300 clams for the fast forward

Does anyone still have this working in the game? I contacted Jam City and the reply was basically “yes, we know it’s not working for everyone but we don’t control it. It has to do with your location and will return when it returns.” Thanks for the help. I’ve been without it for over a month and live in a pretty populated area so I don’t think that’s the whole story.

An update. After reading the earlier posts I tried lowering my clam count to see. I have under 1300 and the feature went away a month ago but I figured I would try it. Bought Buzz Killington, dropping me under 1200, and that seemed to do the trick. Maybe a new maximum? Why wouldn’t Jam City just say that?

I do have the FF, but lately, it hasn’t been working. Certain ads make it fail and not reduce the time on the task. It’s usually these weird Unity Ads (That’s what it says at the bottom of the ad). They have no timers or anything just a download now button. Even if you wait 1-2 minutes, still nothing. I have advised Jamcity of this and get the “wonderful scripted text” that they will notify the devs. I have tapped on the FF at least 4 times in a row either receiving the same exact Unity ad or 1 different unity ad. This happens almost all the time. At times I do get lucky and get a timed ad which in turn does reduce the time on the task. But most of the times it’s those pesky Unity ads that do nothing.

They are looking into the issues, some players gave lost ff,mothers have it back but like you it’s crashing their games – it’s a great feature for players but they need to get it working, and more importantly maje sure it’s done fairly as some players have unlimited ff whereas others don’t have it at all, which creates resentment.

Granted, my game doesn’t crash. I just don’t get any credit for seeing the video. I never get a reduced time for the task. I’ll try to catch a screenshot next time I try it, so others can see what type of Ad I’m referring to. Am I the only one that gets those kind of ads?

They’ve removed ability in lot games, maybe to try fix this

I’ve had it for a long time. So long I can’t even remember not having it, but it’s gone as of about 5 days ago and the lack of the feature is showing as It’s thursday, and I’m still stuck on Part 3 of the questline for week 2 and more than likely have no chance to even get Joe let alone get into week 3.
I also can no longer watch videos for Clams since the FF disappeared.

FF is the single greatest thing they ever introduced in the game. I have had it since the day they released it — and I have never not had it. No stability problems. If they take it away, I will stop playing. FF is what changed the game from boring and tedious work to fun again. The day they take it away is the day I stop playing.

It’s gone for many just now, and for others it’s crashing their games. If it’s still working for you then feel lucky. But the feature being stable in your game doesn’t mean it’s not causing issues for others, hence why they may have to remove it at times, if you’ve lost it, be grateful you had it for so long. If you chose to delete the game because you’ve lost it that’s a pity as others are in the sane boat and still playing while they wait for a fix. Not everything can be rushed….

100% stable in my game and helps a lot with the harder to find objects

I’ve had FF for a long time and I’ve never bought clams. Maybe they are trying to earn something out of me with the adverts.
Gone now though, just when I need to speed it up to collect the bones.

players that have had it think its great, players that have never had it probably resent those that do.
i’ve never had this feature but personally i think it should be that either everyone has it or no one has it, make it even and fair for everyone.
(although if we’re wanting to make it more fair then sort out the drop rates and get rid of ‘chance’ drops on any tasks of 8hrs!)

So, the results of my entirely unscientific study (sorry, I’m a chemist), I chose the Lois character task that drops dog bone treats, I had not used the FF in the last 24 hours, and it allowed me 20 tries before it stopped working…I was able to cycle Lois five time (8 hour task) and it yielded 4 dog bone treats out of 5 possible drops…
I buy clam packs on the order of every 6 – 8 weeks, $20 each time, again, I see it as part of my entertainment budget, I enjoy the game, (Hi, my name is Chris, and I’m an addict), and I will only purchase premium characters/costumes if I like the event and I think they will help me progress…I never buy the decos that drop currency, waste of clams, IMHO…
Here’s the funny part, I used to have FB Messenger on my phone, I stopped using it last year, it’s a memory hog and I use texts as my primary contact method…and in each of the five cycles (4 FF’s 5 times for each full Lois drop attempts), I was shown 3 FB Messenger ads plus one other random ad…huh…we have to allow FG:TQFS pretty serious access to our devices to play, TC/JC does not run the ad platform, I am sure that is a separate service that they contract with just like the tv/clams for offers feature…and obviously, they know I uninstalled FB Messenger, and I will pay for clams occasionally, so perhaps the algorithm I fall in gives me a specific number of FF’s per day and tailors the ads…
And it was maxed at 20 for me this evening, I tried various other tasks and buildings, not a one worked…
Interesting…YMMV…

I had it for a few months, but it disappeared 3-4 months ago. I didn’t use it very often, but the main advantage was speeding up tasks before going to work or bed. I’ve wasted clams on this event speeding up the dog treat drops before bedtime, so watching a few ads here or there would’ve helped. I could never use it to grind through content for meaningless “bragging rights”, as I’ve got better things to do, but it’s handy to compensate for some of the pain points in the game.

I’ve had the FF feature since it came out and noticed a few days ago it was missing. I relied on it a lot so it is going to take a while to get used to full time chores. The only problem is that the clams for watching videos has also been removed. That leaves only the two Jesus characters’ 24 hour tasks and the visit to Ollieland as the only way to get free clams. Thankfully it is possible to earn clams from the character rank sets.

I’ve had it for a while and still do. It is very useful for trying to get event items. It’s especially useful for characters that have a 6 to 8 hour task. You can use it to remove 2 hours off of that time (multiple times if you wish).
I actually have not seen the new update in my game yet, so I still have this feature and it works fine. I hope it is permanent because it is helpful. Although this week it still took me until today to unlock Joe, so it doesn’t necessarily speed the event up completely.

I think it depends on how much you can use it, some seem limited, others not so. But the update to 2.3.2 has removed it In lot games.

Don’t have FF feature, but I do get 5 gold clams about every 24 hours when I watch ads. Does anyone have BOTH the FF feature & free 5 gold clams feature?

This feature completely changed the game for me. From typically getting frustrated and not finishing events, it allowed me to actively complete all of the free material on time. As a result, I was more compelled to purchase Clam Packs as I now wanted to complete the entire event and premium characters. If this feature has truly been removed it will be unfortunate. My enjoyment of the game increased with this feature, and I downloaded a couple of the advertised apps. Thanks

Software makers of games like this are loathe to “allow players to burn through content”, the predominant feeling that if players become bored they will leave the game and eventually it will make little money. The problem with that is that a very large number of us have apparently proven that supposition to be wrong in the case of “this game”. Granted, if you are willing to drop X amount of cash on clams, or store the free ones up, they are more than willing to allow you to do whatever you like in the game, within reason. They have had the tv which allows people to watch commercials and build up a small amount of free clams each day, or the trials, etc to be awarded clams (I am not as familiar with these as I just haven’t looked at them as often), and these are true micro transactions, the company gets some small amount of money for each ad viewed or “thing done” that serves as advertisement for some outside entity.
They get this same payment when we watch the ads to advance a task but it is at a very different rate to the user. Four commercials viewed can immediately finish an 8 hour task where that same thing might be up to 40 clams to “speed up” the clam way. Players are able to “burn through content” in this manner with the game makers not getting as much remuneration.
At the same time, that reinvigorated me in the game. My hatred of myself for still playing went down, I actually made some clam purchases for immediate access to characters and costumes, something which, for the longest time, I did not do.
If it doesn’t come back, I will never play this game again!!!
Is something I might type in anger and then four hours later I would be right back in the game clearing tasks and getting back to hating myself.
I love it, wish they would bring it back, and wish they’d give it to everyone. Maybe make it triggered by teaching some milestone so it only becomes available after you finish all the canned content and just start playing events only?

Im not so mad at that as much as I am with the glitch when you tap the vacuum and it stops the game and you have to restart it.

Worked well in my game, especially with 8 hour tasks as it allowed you to complete 3 in a day instead of two unless you sleep less than 6 hours a night. Tho it did occasionally load up with congratulations you earned 15 clams, but then they disappeared next time you loaded the game

I had it for a couple of events last year, but then it was removed and never came back. It definitely helps, and may make it too easy sometimes, but I don’t understand the current practice of some people having it and others not. It’s seemingly been tested, so either give it to everyone, or take it away from everyone. As it is now, it’s an uneven playing field.

I definitely miss this feature on my iPad. But fortunately I am still running on an Android phone too, so not totally lost for me. The bummer is the fast forward feature was just about the only thing keeping me interested in the events and game as a whole. As a freemium player it is impossible to get past week 2 in a 4 week event without fast forward and the horrible drop rates of some items. Not fun anymore when you know at the start of an event that you will only be able to actually play half of it. I am not spending any more clams (real money) due to the increased difficulty of the game.

I’ve had it for the entirety of this event so far, but it usually comes and goes as an event progresses. I was able to use it for dog bone treats 12 times (using Quagmire’s 8-hour task) before it stopped for the day, but 24 hours again, I was able to use it. I only used it for dog bones, so I don’t know if that’s the number of times it allows in 24 hours total, or if it’s linked to specific tasks/drops. I’ve completed the week two phase, and since the next phase starts Thursday, I’m going to play around with it this evening if I can see a pattern.
Has anyone who plays completely freemium had the FF feature? I don’t, so I’m wondering if it’s tied to that. I’m on Android, latest update for LG.

I’ve always played freemium (Android) and had this feature since the beginning, but I pretty quickly stopped using it because I didn’t need it. I completed every event without it and I rather collected my daily 5 clams from the ClamTV than speeding up tasks unnecessarily. However, last time I tried to use FF (maybe last November) it had vanished from my game.
These last two events have been so difficult that I’ve really missed the FF feature and I’ve used clams to speed up tasks. And what bugs me with Jam City is that they don’t announce in time if they are moving the starting date of an event (=Valentine’s Day Week 3). I’ve spent at least 50 clams for nothing because of this between Tuesday and Wednesday.

When I got a new Android phone I also got Fast Forward. It’s possible might not still he playing (and occasionally buying clam packs) if I didn’t also have Fast Forward. I use it every day.
