Why? Well I don’t think complaints and negativity about a silly li’l game will be top of any of our to do lists at this time. So I thought why don’t we have a post where we get to know each other a bit better.
I, as most of you know, despite my name am in Scotland at this time, and here we are heading towards a complete lockdown. I’ve a head full of plans to pass the time indoors, and this will include doing some housekeeping on this site and hopefully sorting through my millions of wildlife photos, you never know by the time this is over I might actually have them properly organised and backed up to boot, something I’ve been meaning to do for a couple of years. But what about you, where are you and what will you be doing over the next couple months while we flatten that damn curve.

Upstate NY, the Capital District, 30 minutes NW of Albany…we went to alternate day shifts to limit our exposure to each other, we’re considered essential, chemical processing with the main business supporting power generation…so, last week, I worked onsite T-Th and from home M-W-F…I’m the technical director, my counterpart is the lab director, so when one is on, the other is off…until Friday afternoon when we decided he needed to stay home for the duration – he has a chronic cardiopulmonary disease, so he’s WFH now and I’m onsite full time…our boss is comically adamant about keeping 6 feet (1.8m) away from each other – he walks around with a 6 foot pole and yells, “DIstance, people!”, he’s a great guy with a good sense of humor, but he’s serious about staying safe…it’s an eerie time, every conversation I have with customers, vendors, partners, etc., is 1/4 business and 3/4 the coronavirus…
Wife and youngest son are furloughed, so they’re home the whole time…it doesn’t help that, although it’s technically spring, we got 6″ of snow today…
We have to stay optimistic, which is tough, trust me, I think we’re all teetering back and forth between some degree of depression and disbelief, but it’s critical we try to keep our spirits up…
Thank you for maintaining this website, RT, yes, it’s where we can scream and cry about our silly ‘lil game, but sometimes it s a place of outreach and shared common human experience…

Thanks Chris and also thanks for being one of the essential workers that are keeping our countries running whilst we get told to sit at home. Here we went into lockdown last night, too many people partying in the parks and beaches. Unfortunately after months of rain our weather although chilly is bright and sunny and that encouraged far too many to defy the social distancing measures. Now they aren’t being asked, they are being told. You stay safe and thanks again

I live in Manchester, UK. Work from home on occasion so know what to expect from it but now I’m stuck at home with the mrs and 2 kids and theyre driving me insane as today we’re on Week 2 Day 1 of self-isolation.
With the schools all closed this chaos is going to continue for weeks yet. The eldest kid is not interested in homeschooling or doing anything educational at all so is just sulking and being a swine.
Drinking tea by the gallon because it’s more easily accessible being at home and the kitchen is 1 of the rooms I have currently only have access to until self-isolation ends — even then i can’t go into work for the next few weeks/months so I’m still stuck in these 4 walls.
Not being able to go gym or play football is going to be a killer. I’m not a super active person but with them being closed for the foreseeable and me being stuck at home means I’m going to get fatter and lazier.

I’m home for the foreseeable as well, but I’ve already ticked off few things I’ve been delaying doing for too long. But I’m sure I’ll grow weary as I’ll miss being outdoors hearing and seeing wildlife. Enjoying photographing wildlife means I’m used to being alone and like it, other people just scare the wildlife but I’m missing seeing my mum, not seeing her yesterday was very tough. I’m missing my little niece, sucks can’t see her on her birthday. So whereas your trapped with yours I’m missing most of mine. Weird days my friend, weird days.
Would kids not join you in some home exercising? Stay well and step away from the damn biscuits.

Hi I am from north east Scotland. My wife is vulnerable to infections so we are keeping hidden away. We are lucky to have a garden with plenty wildlife visiting including red squirrels every day. So looks like a bit of photography will help pass the time.

I’m jealous, photography and wildlife are my things but where I live the garden is only visited by 2 angry magpies. Squirrels are my fsvourite, love both the red and the greys, being an urban kid grey squirrels were one of the few wildlife we saw and I fell in love with them. Would love to have squirrels in my garden. My dad used feed wee group of greys in his garden and we’ve continued that but I can’t go out as my other half is in the shielded group, missing my family, my squirrels but be worth it to beet this thing. And by the end of it I’ll be best friends with 2 angry magpies. Stay safe.

I am in Nashville, Tn in the US. So far no lockdown but a lot of bars and places that would normally have a lot of people have shut down Restaurants that are open are only having takeout. Alot of people I know are working from home. I work in construction sales and project management and there was a really bad tornado here on 3/3 so far not much had changed for me. Some clients are nervous about having people in their house but I’m still working dealing with a lot of people both inside and outside their homes daily 7 days a week since that tornado, it was on the grounds for 60 miles and was an EF3 for a lot of it.
Not sure how nervous I should be im one that’s almost never sick and I’m trying to be more cautious not shaking hands had been hard and weird. Ive been trying to stand farther back from people I keep hand sanitizer with me and use it quite often throughout the day. All of this seems very surreal.

I agree, surreal is word I’m using a lot, I honestly feel like I’ve jumped down the rabbit hole. It’s a shame that your area is just recovering from the tornado and now this. And I can understand the nervousness on both sides with your job. It’s so hard to not doing things you do naturally isn’t it. I never realised how much I touch my face until this unfolded, now when I try not to, my nose itches just to tempt me. Stay safe and thanks for the job your doing in these difficult times.

I’m in Toronto, Canada and I work from home FT so not much change there. Not going out in the evenings for over a week now is starting to get to me though. I do love to eat so I’ve had time to make better meals lately. Today I made spicy cabbage rolls baked in a chunky tomato sauce garnished with parmesan petals & paired with a Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon! *yummy*

Hi. From Canada here. I am a bartender and we’ve been on self isolation for a week now. I work in a bar and they were all ordered closed on Tuesday, which being St. Patrick’s Day was a massive blow. We had been preparing thw days events for months. Hopefully we can have a huge party when we come out the other side of it and if I never have to hear the term “social distancing” again when this is all over it will be too soon.
Good luck to everyone on lockdowns, and quarantines, and self isolation. If I’ve learned anything this week its that if I thought I wasted time on this game before I had no idea how bad it could get. I find myself counting down minutes til QHS characters are done just for something to do.
I miss all things sports!!

Hi, well I think we can safely say once this is over, you’ll be one of the busiest workers as everyone will want to go out. But I hope you are looked after financially, here the government will pay 80% of wages for staff affected. My sister in law and little niece had a trip to Dublin arranged, it was a Christmas treat, for St Patrick’s Day. They were looking forward to the parade etc, but like Disneyland only greener.
Sports are all off here also, most have taken it on the chin, only couple football teams bickering, namely Glasgow Rangers and Glasgow Celtic, its a toxic rivalry at the best of times. Few people say they’ve been watching the Australian league as it was still going. Me I’ve a million things to watch so I’ll try make some headway on them.

Ya I’m a huge football fan. My family is all in the UK and I grew up a Celtic fan. But we don’t get the SPL here unfortunately. I’m a Liverpool fan in the EPL so this break is soul crushing even though i understand the necessity. I could handle beong home all day if I had sports but with jothing but 24 hr news coverage its maddening. Luckily the sun is shining and its turning to spring. Need to look ahead to the brighter things, and just hope that we can get a handle on the outbreak and start getting back to normal.

That’s not good if you support Celtic and Liverpool, both on their way to winning their leagues, and ace,tic 9 in a row again. You can imagine heat the feeling about it all are in Glasgow. And yes hopefully we’ll see an end to things and all get back to doing what we enjoy. Stay safe

I’m in rural Pennsylvania. I own a small gallery and art publishing company. Our state has ordered non essential businesses to close so I’m using the time to cleanup some of my backlog of work and maybe wrap up some building renovation. The past week has been a roller coaster of emotional phone calls with my mom at her winter place in Florida wondering how long she might be there and trying to keep her in good spirits psychologically. Her first winter without my dad has left her feeling a bit isolated. It’s great to hear everyone’s stories of how they are dealing with this to remind us we are all in this together even if dealing with our own circumstances. A big thanks to RT for all your efforts and the insight to open this topic. Everyone stay safe and enjoy the diversion we all enjoy in FGTQFS.

Thanks Dewey. I understand exactly what your saying as I lost my dad in June and I worry that having to be inside will increase my mum’s grief to intolerable levels. The last few days she’s baked to keep busy as that’s her main at home hobby but now there’s no flour, sugar, I worry as she’s not one to watch TV or read a book, but hey we’ll just need to roll with the punches for now and get through it together as you say. My heart goes out to you and your mom with the loss of your father. I lost my dad in April and it’s been a rough 11 months since. Through this chaos the world is coping with right now I keep asking myself and my sister , how would dad have handled this? It’s certainly lead to a few memorable conversations as well as when I’m alone to some deep reflection. From all of this we will grow and learn. Stay safe and take care of your mom.

Thanks Dewey, as much as I hate the thought of someone suffering what we did, it’s comforting to know there are people who understand. I’ve wished my dad was here over and over as he was not only a beautiful soul, but a wise one also. However on the flip side if he had still been here, it would have killed me not being able to see him, as here all hospital visits are banned. You stay safe and all your family also.

Hi all. I live near Chicago, Illinois in the US. I’m a high school science teacher, and most of my students are 9th graders. Our schools last day was about a week ago. As of now, return won’t be until April 8 at earliest. I’m thinking if we return at all it won’t be until May. So, I’m home with my wife and 2 college kids trying to push out some e learning type lessons to my students, hoping to give them some sense of normalcy, but it is so weird – I miss interacting with my students. My oldest is supposed to be graduating this spring, but no decision if they will push her ceremony back or cancel. We are moving my youngest out of his dorm tomorrow. We’re doing ok for now, trying not to get in each other’s way. Best thing about this so far? We spent a couple of evenings watching videos of when the kids were little and laughing at how we looked back then and remembering a lot of fun times together. I hope all of you are coping as best you can, staying healthy, and staying away from others- let’s flatten the curve together and we’ll all get through this. Thanks for what your doing to try keep education going, so important for kids. Here they say schools are shut until August at the earliest unless you’re the child of an NHS worker etc, those kids will be looked after in schools. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if the outcome of social distancing was us all being closer at the end of this. Stay safe.

Hi! I live in Belgium 🇧🇪 and we are already a couple of days in ‘lockdown’. All borders were also closed in & out. Except for the life supporting transport etc… I could work from home the last week, but even that is getting suspended now, from next week on. Due to economic impact with my customer. Nevertheless, this game is a nice distraction. Also my digital administration needs to be done, so I know what to do next 😁. I got out the puzzles for this weekend and we are all eating more than we should 😂. Fortunately online ordering is stil available, and that will drain the account.
I hope everybody else is ok, and having a quiet/safe place to stay healthy for the length of this pandemic?

I am in the San Francisco, California Bay Area and my husband is from Taiwan. We have been watching the fiasco approach for weeks. I am a full-stack .net web developer who is hoping to get some learning and clean-up taken care of while we figure out how to get through this lockdown. Perhaps even get new websites built for my self-employed/business-owning sister and nephew, if they have businesses to return to, of course. We are gladly staying home to protect the healthcare workers and the people who will be sick. At least we also have a good sense of humor which made it possible for me to giggle a little when the coronavirus questline popped into our games. Was it appropriate? Who knows.
