New Feature Teaser – Alternate Quahogs

The guys at Jam City have released some little details about this new feature  that’s coming to a Quahog near you very soon.  If you don’t want to know about it then move on to the next post.

Warning Spoilers Ahead!!!

One of the most asked after things in Family Guy: The Quest For Stuff recently is can we have more land.

Now there’s a new feature coming that won’t just give you more land, but more lands. Yes Alternate Quahogs are coming, and they should be with us later this week.

Here’s a some information snippets about it from Jam City:

You will be able to obtain all kinds of Quahogs 😄 each can have its own theme so you can make them into your own special Quahog!”

“We’ve been working on this feature ever since we released the Quahog Historical Society, and even before then. We’ve strived to give players back some space again since it’s the one thing you’ve all been asking for… and you’ve been asking this for years now!”

“We will begin rolling out a few select towns to different groups of players to test the waters at first and make sure that nothing explodes. But soon enough, we will roll out many towns to all players. We plan on adding towns periodically too so you get more and more space!”

And finally here’s a few images to give you a better idea of what is coming. As you can see below it looks like there will be a variety and that there will be both freemium and premium towns.

So if you peaked, what do you think of the upcoming features? Let us know in the comments.

I still haven’t got it. They made the alternate quahog building available. But nothing else is happening.

  2. Got this yesterday. Some squares in the new lands require Stewie Bucks to open. Some need materials collected (Like 4 lumber, 6 Coal, etc.) that take characters away from the Historical Society tasks. Others are just money and a time limit for the new land to be constructed.(only 1 worker given; additional cost Clams and the ones from our main Quahog do not move over.) More later, but…I thought I’d share.

  3. Alternate Quahogs is active in my game.
Grass land cost coins, and clearing land just cost coins and to send the landscaper to work. Extra workers from main Quahog are not available to work in alternate.
Frozen land (not the correct name) requires materials to clear lands. Most characters in my game now have a 4 hour task to collect different materials. I have seen several materials, bricks, power drills, wood, etc.
Night land cost 400 clams, I have not paid for it.
It seems like you can put any building/decoration you have in inventory into the land. I haven’t tried putting a building in a land then sending a character to a building in a different land. Switching lands takes about the same time as going to OllieLand (Android)

  4. Well said! Personally, am only willing to use 60 characters for this, recently upped from 40, and for a while I used even less. I also don’t use ones that will likely be used for Daily Quests for free Clams. Sure, I progress through the ranks of the Historical Society more slowly, but hey, I waited years to get these characters and I can wait a bit longer. 😊

  5. With these new quahogs I would wish that they would also add a “move group” option to decorations, and buildings, so we wouldn’t have to move one by one every deco or building. There are times where I want to move things in my quahog, but I don’t because it would just take too long, and I would forget where things are situated

  6. its open in my town, no desert though, just winter, night and grassland. Nice to see stewie bucks as currency, but were back to sending characters on 6, 7 12,14 15, 17 hours tasks to unlock certain pieces of land, removing them from go for gold, shouldn’t take too long to get the required materials but might throw out the sync for new events starting and waiting for characters to become free to start new quests. Better than nothing, but go for gold needs fixing, as does the cost of characters

  7. hopefully the alternate Quahogs don’t freeze as much as when I visit Ollieland.

  8. Are the new Quahogs referring to the Winterland, Grassland and Nightland Districts that have appeared with the list of Citizen and Guest Character collections in my game. Or is this something different?
Nothing working as yet, just the headings for each area.

  10. I’m glad I recently switched from android to iPad because I can finally play the game without crashing. I feel bad for anyone playing on android or older systems as this type of update is probably going to make the game unplayable for many people. I’m happy for the new space as it would be nice to start designing/planning for once. I’m just worried that this update is going to add a chunk of data to the overall game file size.

  11. I’ve got over 210 million coins after playing 5 years. I would love to see a place to put the hundreds of buildings I have had in inventory. I also started a second new game recently. Somehow, I have FF in both games. I love that. But they really do need a SEND ALL to Go for the Gold. I have over 400 characters in my two games. That’s a lot of mindless wiping. And we definitely need something to do with 65 Gold Stewie Bucks.

  13. So far I like it. It’s nice having something for every character to do besides Going for the Gold for a change.

  14. It’s pretty cool so far. Looks like a certain amount is gonna test the waters before a complete roll-out. I like the fact every character actually has something to do besides Go for the Gold finally

  15. I got the Alternate Quahogs quest today. I have two Quahogs available for coins and one available for clams. In the one required for the questline (Grassland), you can clear land blocks for 10,000 coins and water blocks for 10 Stewie bucks. They take 8 h to be ready. In the other, Everwinter, you need to collect materials to clear land (or 50,000 coins to skip the material collection if I’m understandint it correctly). I’m saving screenshots just in case they might be useful.

  18. Considering there’s nothing to spend cash on in this game, the only good thing about having alternative Quahogs would be somewhere to empty out my overflowing inventory. I’ve already squished as many buildings in my playspace as will fit right now, so whenever I have to add something for an event, I have to take something else out.

And, I find it incredibly insulting that I’ve played this game for almost all 6 years and have over $100M coins, and yet I’ve never, ever had the option to fast forward tasks.

  19. If parcels of land are opened with coins then we’ll finally have something to spend them on. I flipped over the 40 million mark quite a while ago. I have quite a clam pile saved up too but that doesn’t mean I want to burn the equivalent of $20 worth to open an alternate area either.

  20. More space in my view is a big waist,I’ll never get it,,,,,”send ALL “in “go for gold “is what’s needed ,why do you think everyone wants more space in the first place?

We see lots of requests for more space here, there are players who like to design. But send all has been requested so we’ll see

  21. Looks like most/some of the town will cost a good bit of Clams there. That might not go well for a lot of the players. Especailly the ones that don’t purchase clams.

I think there will be a mix of freemium and premium towns, that’s fair, after all if everything was free, no players would ever buy clans and then there is no reason for them keep the game going. They need to make some money out the game or we can wave goodbye to it.

  23. I hope I’m one of the first people who gets new land! I’ve played for 5 or 6 years and I have done the last 4 years or so with all 12 districts opened and I have a ton of excess buildings in my inventory.

The game is so much more fun now that we have fast forward and the Historical Society. They made the game fun again since I generally complete the entire quest and I slowly build up characters because I send 180 plus characters to go for the gold twice a day.

To think we’re going to get land, a place to spend my 10 mil plus bucks will keep me sitting on the couch longer than I do already.

    I love you, Jam City!

  24. Happy to see the addition. My only concern is sending characters on quests to various “towns”. Hopefully it’s not too tedious to visit them each.

  25. I love it!! So many questions- but finally a way to really do something new. I hope we’ll be able to use items stored in inventory. Maybe we’ll be able to find a use for Stewie Bucks and Coins. too. I’m one of those who has asked for this for a couple of years now and I think it’s great.

I’m not too fussed about more space. I try to keep it minimal anyway to make it easier to play.
However one little think I’d love to be able to do is a “send all idle characters Go for Gold”. That would save me a lot of taps (and time)

    • Right?! I gave up on sending players on the Go for Gold task a while ago. They all just live in Tab Lines again now. With 250+ “idle” players at any one time, not only does it take ages to get them all there, but finishing the tasks after 8 hours takes twice as long with the lag. Then you have the issue of needing a particular character that is caught up in that mess and not being able to be easily released 🙂

      • I have been given a quest to ‘buy grassland’ but when i try to it only asks me to preview the town. Is anyone else dealing with this?

      • It would be so good if you could cancel someones task in Go For Gold if you needed that character straight away like you said.

      • Although I totally understand the wish for ‘send all’ – and lots are asking for it….. I honestly think it will NEVER be allowed.

When you think about it… its up to the individual player how much EFFORT they want to put into the coin collection for the Historical Society. Why should it become totally effortless? Im pretty sure this is why they have not addressed this request.

If you want to send 10 characters, and accumulate 10 coins at a time then fine…. its going to take a while! if you’ve been playing the game for a long time and have hundreds of idle characters clogging up Tan Lines… then you can choose how many of those to use at a time – the more you use, the more effort you have to go to, and the greater the reward in terms of coins earned.

Believe me, I find it a HUGE chore to send approx 150 characters on the Go For Gold task twice a day….. I wont do many more than 150 as it takes too long and im getting RSI with that dragging… AND if the gold task isn’t at the top of the stack for a particular character (say for example they have something to do for the current daily quest) then its all too easy to mistakenly choose that rather than the go for gold one.

If they allowed us to have a ‘send all’ then people would be able to whizz through the ranks so quickly making a mockery of the ‘collection’ element here. All god things come to those who wait and put some effort into it after all!

Heres a tip. Make yourself two teams of characters – say 100 each team. Send team A off on the GFG task… then 4 hours later send team B off – in that way its just 100 at a time and you are getting 200 per 8 hours. This game is all about time management and strategy and sometimes people just want it all immediately for no effort and thats not the point surely!

        • I just received the update with alternate Quahogs and so far it looks great, but I just started early this morning. One thing of note in regards to the Go for Gold is that the alternate universes gives the opportunity to send characters(one at a time) on tasks to earn items that can be used to unlock land.in the new universes. Now you can choose to send characters to Tan lines, Historical Society or tasks in alternate Quahogs. I thi9nk an option to the Send All might be to be able put characters in Tan Lines and be able to select a floor and send the whole floor to Go for Gold.

          • I also received the update but mine seems to have an issue. I have a quest to buy grassland but when i click to buy all i can do is preview. It doesn’t allow me to follow through with the purchase. I have tons of money and have accomplished all things that were mentioned to be able to progress it just won’t let me. I contacted support but haven’t heard back yet. Any help would be appreciated.

            • It was a little wonky when I first tried it too- I tried some things to make it work, but I believe i finally had to go back to Quahog, the back to Grasslands and then it gave me the opportunity to buy it- I apologize if thats not exactly correct cause I know I tried a bunch of things and it finally asked if I wanted to buy it Same thing with Winterland Good luck!!.
