BETA Mode Sneak Peak: Quests

One of the advantages to being a blogger for an already HUGE mobile game is you make friends all over the world who share your addiction to the games.  In the case those friendships come up huge when you’ve got friends in other parts of the world able to access the BETA Version of the Family Guy Game and send us back screen shots and feedback!  So you can bet we’re doing a TON of stuff behind the scenes to get ready for the launch of FGG that’s for sure!  However, I wanted to give those of you, like us here in the US, a little preview of some actual elements of game play.

Now keep in mind FGG is still in BETA mode, which means TinyCo can change their minds about ANY aspect of the game and game play itself until the initial launch.  (it’s that very reason why we’re hesitant to publish the cost for premium currency because it can still change)  So that being said lets take a look at how quests work in the Family Guy Game….

FamilyGuyGame Splash Screen

Much like other mobile games, where you’re tasked to rebuild a city for scratch, the Family Guy Game comes with quests for each character that lead to being able to unlock more buildings and sections of Quahog.  Those quests are usually multiple parts and contain humorous dialog and animations by the characters.  Here’s a few shots our friend sent us showing part of the tasks and some of the animation:
FGG handshake1 fgg handshake2 fgg hangshake3

Now something that IS different with Family Guy is the added element of having to collect some items in order to unlock characters.  Generally when you unlock a character (with a building, after the building has completed) you have to help that character complete a task in order to fully unlock them and allow them to be usable players in the game.

They’ll ask for specific items for you to collect from completing other character tasks or from buildings.  Here’s an example of what it takes to fully unlock Mort in FGG:
mort1

You’ll need to collect each of those items in order to unlock Mort completely.  When you tap on one of the items it explains how to unlock it.  Here’s how you unlock the antacids:
mort2In order to unlock the Antacids (and you’ll need to collect 2 of them) you have to Make Bruce Fret About Something and make Peter Overeat.  When you click Go on either task it takes you to the character’s task screen where you can assign the task.  Here’s how Peter’s looks:
mort3

Once you assign the task and it’s completed…if the item is achieved it’ll pop out with the coins and XP.  He didn’t send me a specific SS of the antacid popping out, but here’s a shot of some other items:
mort4

So there you have it, the two vary quests (so far) in FGG.  Again, keep in mind this game is still in BETA stages…which means anything can change before the full world wide release.

What do YOU think of the different quest options?  How do you feel about having to collect items from completing actions?  Are you excited for the game to finally hit our app stores?  Sound off in the comments below and let us know what you think!

  1. Im a HUGE Simpsons tapped out fan, spent a lot of cash of that damn game lol, and Im VERY excited for this game as well! But to be honest the “odds” thins would most def make me not wanna play and id do away with it all together. I love the whole collecting idea, but I dont understand why we cant just go do what needs to be done to collect said items and then just get it. If I were to have to cook veggies for 20 hours just to get one item to unlock a character, id just give up. So I PRAY when they release the game April 10th, they would of listened to the people and just done away with the “odds” component!

    • I hope they listen too. I know they’ve been tweaking the files periodically, mostly just the numbers, so hopefully some of those odds will change. Although it could take the initial launch of the game to have them change those odds. But we’ll know in just over 1 day 🙂

  4. I think these Quest will be better than what we have with the Doughnut Destroyer! I find myself with nothing to do, in my favorite game it is ==> TAP & WAIT My wife does that with the furniture in the house.
Or should I say Has Me Move The Furniture in the House.

  7. I noticed the “odds of” section. Does that indicate that it is possible to complete a task but not earn the item you are after? In other words, does a 50% chance of antacids mean you will only the antacids only half of the times you make Peter overeat?

    • From what I understand yes. I had to ask our overseas source about this one just to clarify and the response I got back was yes. There are times when you’ll do the task and the item will not pop out, so you’ll have to keep doing it until it does. And in his words…”It can be VERY Frustrating!”

      • I can imagine. If you look at the “cook disgusting vegetables” task in the image above, it shows that it takes 4 hours and has only a 20% chance of generating the item you need. If true, it would actually take, on average, 20 hrs to get the item. For some, it could take much, much longer (like the wheel in TSTO). That sounds incredibly frustrating.

    • So far from what I’m seeing in the screenshots nothing too outrageous in tasks…as far as time length is concerned.
However, from what I’ve heard from other users it can take a little while to earn the little items that are needed to complete the unlock quests.
