Look out Addicts, as things are definately heating up with the first of the Quahog Heat’s Event’s Weekly Challenges.
Now in the last couple of events TinyCo seemed to be making these challenges just an eensy weensy teensy bit easier and we were seeing a flourish of happy comments, but then they upped the stakes again in the final challenge of Kung Pow Quahog, so it’s hard to predict what we will get in this events set of challenges.
Anyway this week’s challenge, if you should choose to accept it, seems a little daunting at first, but if you’ve managed to stockpile some police tape, or robbers, neither an easy task, then I think both freemium and premium players can do this as it should work in tandem with what a lot of us will be doing right now, clearing Robbers. If you do manage to complete it you will be rewarded with the White Hot Sports Car decoration.
And as per the last few events TinyCo have also released an image of the grand prize should you complete the full set of weekly challenges, the B-Team van.

Got 12 robbers right after the timer started, zero since…pretty discouraging especially since I have less than an hour left and I won’t finish the challenge.
I agree that the tapes should be a more common drop considering how it seems that most people aren’t getting very many of them. Either that or have more characters doing tasks to get them.

First time I don’t mind low drops (read: robbers). I could care less about decorations and never intentionally participate in challenges. I actually hate it when I get something automatically while gathering stuff for other purposes. It just goes directly to inventory anyway 😀

Not possible. I’m getting tape drops at a rate that allows me 1 investigation every 2 days. Combine that with a grand total of 6 robbers since they became available and needing the same characters to continue the story line and neither estrada or the prIze is a possibility.
Which seems to be the norm anymore. That doesn’t inspire me to spend money, it inspires me to stop playing.

Well, so far in the challenge I’ve gotten 0 robbers. I’ve investigated every time I’ve had enough tape, but haven’t had one robber drop yet. Not sure what’s up, but it’s impossible to do challenges when there’s no robbers… Anyone else with this problem? Luckily I chose to wait on starting Estrada. I don’t even have the buildings for him yet.

It’s 9 pm pacific, I have 16 hrs left on the timer for the challenge and have 0/33 robbers. Something is going wrong here…. after reading comments apparently people are either getting all robbers, or all handcuffs. I’ve gotten three Bertrams now, but haven’t triggered Ponchatoula because I still haven’t gotten a nought badges for the bottom row of buildings. This event is one that I’m finding impossible….

I’m getting a mix of drops, but still need robbers to complete the challenge. But I’m not too fussed to be honest as I’m not really interested in the prizes. That kind of helps when it’s a tough challenge.

I’m only getting enough police tape the last two days to send Lois one out three of rotations and then I’ve had two that didn’t drop robbers. I probably won’t even get 20 robbers, let alone 33. Still only two handcuffs as well as I’m 0-5 in my last five drops. And this is with the building that allegedly drops tape.

LIKE ALOT OF OTHERS REALLY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS EVENT. PROBABLY THE ONE I WOULD OF LOVED BUT REALLY GIVING UP. DIDNT EVEN START ERIK BECAUSE IM LUCKY TO GET 1 POLICE TAPE EVERY 4 HOURS. WITH A RARE CHANCE OF ROBBERS TO GET ITEMS NEEDED TO TRADE FOR BADGES. THAT IS REQUIRED FOR BUILDING THAT IS ONLY WAY TO GET ITEMS FOR HIM.SO MUCH FOR MOST OF US HAVING MUCH FUN.

I’m getting ****** differently than most it seems – I have 7 of 8 handcuffs, but can’t buy any robbers! I’ve still not even placed the 3rd building due to not enough badges. I “wasted” 6 tapes on trying to get Bertram twice, and got just donuts both time. after that I’ve only been sending lois to the first window, and almost always getting handcuffs. So i’ll probably miss Eric because of the Boots from Bertram, and basically no way i’ll get this weekly event it seems.

maybe tiny is helping out with the handcuffs. I will go back to trying lois at the handcuff room. I gave up on this challenge because I was getting low tapes. so I was going to concentrate on just finishing the main quest line since I had tried to get handcuffs like 5 times and now have zero of them. that meant going after Bertram, so of course 3 times trying and no Bertram! when I unlocked peter’s costume I found him and beat him fully twice in a row. this game seems to know when you are trying to do something and does the opposite, or does what i gave up on previously. only upside of this is that I may actually get this challenge. probably just paranoid.

wouldn’t you know it the first chance I got to try for the handcuffs after seeing this post I got a handcuff. people might want to adjust. I still have over 5 days of erik. thanks, timdog and RT.

Handcuffs dropped well straight away…. on 7/8 in just under 3 days from about 10 drops… fan mail on the other hand… 1 drop from over 20 collections… as you say, always something that doesn’t drop.

well lets see, since I activated erik, I have been averaging ABOUT 1 roll of tape every 4 hours(that’s with a chance at 5 rolls of tape every 4 hours). so during 48 hours I will have 12 rolls of tape. Lets say I root against me getting any handcuffs, the most times I can investigate is 6 times with a max of 24 total thieves.
If you are a freemium player and have ANY chance at erik or this challenge please let us know how you are doing it. I am an insomniac and have been clicking everything right away. is there any freemium player who “managed to stockpile some police tape, or robbers”?
I feel like I need to be realistic and maybe TINY will make the next phase doable. That means I need to be ready and complete the main questline by Wednesday, which means attacking Bertram again and ignoring the cuffs and robbers for the most part.
TINYCO knows what its doing. I guess they decided to make some money off of this phase/event. Would it hurt them to let us know that its mainly a premium event? Then we could come back when the freemiums can play.

I think to be fair to TinyCo they hope to make some money from every event, or how else do they pay the licensing fees and their staff. Playing premium should give you an advantage, a leg up as they say. Let you get everything without putting in as much effort as a freemium player. But I like it when if a freemium players is willing to plan and put in the time, and for this game that can mean a lot of time, they can do well in events. However I’ve bought Chopper Cop Quagmire and he’s not giving me the head start I would have anticipated as premium and freemium players alike have been impacted by the rare drop for police tape, So if it’s frustrating to fall behind when you’ve not put in any money, just imagine how it feels when you have. Because as I say this week hasn’t been a stroll in the park for either type of players, premium players are just as unhappy as you are with some of the drops etc. Hopefully TinyCo can tweak some things for Phase 2 and we can start to enjoy what could be a fun event.

This isn’t the place for it, but what is the purpose of purchasing a premium character/skin if it doesn’t help you within an event? I get that the goal is to make money during an event to help offset licensing fees (staff should be a fixed cost) but one of the reasons I stopped buying premium characters was that they stopped being of as much value during events (canned TinyCo response was that events had “elements of luck” in them) and were of zero value after the event. As for the tapes: I would rather have them be “always” drops and just have to acquire more to do the task. At least you feel good about collecting every four hours and getting some payoff.

I agree, premium characters/costumes should always be a big help, and in Kung Pow Quahog they helped immensely. In Undercover Gigg-Olo Charmisse was also good value, especially if you didn’t already have Condom Chrus and Schoolgirl Tricia. But in this first week, that value seems to have reversed s little. Don’t get me wrong Chopper Cop Quagmire is a help, he gives you immediate access to The Vault, which is only 1 Police Tape per investigation to find Betram, the freemium option is the Security Office at 3 Police Tape. So I’ve used him this way. The police tapes I’d have taken a common drop at the 4hrs, or rare at 2hrs.

Oh shoot. BA’s van!? I’ve given up even trying on these challenges but I wouldn’t mind that van. Now I’m curious about other possible adds; Kit, Magnum’s Ferrari, Starsky’s Torino… Rockford’s Firebird, etc.

Saw the exclamation mark, decided not to click it until I have some robbers to clear. Came to check and found it is 33 of them – given the tape drops and other issues, this will be a real grind potentially.
