A Look In The Rear Week 4 Overview

Let’s Party Like It’s 1979!!!

The time travelling TV is still active and ready to take you another trip down memory lane. Yes it’s  time to go on a new adventure in Week 4 of A Look In The Rear.

EVENT ENDS

10th October 2018 at 3PM PDT.

You can see the countdown timer for the event and other details by clicking on the Event Info Icon at the bottom of your screen.

ADDICTS ANNOUNCEMENTS & INFORMATION

Remember you can only place buildings etc in the event area time they belong in, ie 50’s, 60’s, 70’s or 80’s. This includes the TV Guide Grand Prizes.

You’ll now see the currency icon in each event area matches the currency collected in that era. There can be a delay adding to the Icon total but they are adding. You’ll see them adding in your Appliance store.

Again there’s just one freemium character to unlock this week.

The TV Guide Week 1, 2 & 3 Achievements can still be completed, in fact I recommend it even if you don’t want the prize, as you can trade up those currencies.

As mentioned above, in 1980’s Quahog you  can exchange Scratch & Cheddar for Charge Cards.

EVENT CURRENCY

Charge Cards (Always) – Get from completing TV Guide Week 4 Achievement Tasks, Tripping the Break Dancer, Trading in Scratch,  Trading in Cheddar, Clam Cheater, 80’s Nostalgia Mystery Box (Chance)

And remember to keep earning Bread in 1950’s Quahog, Scratch in 1960’s & Cheddar in 1970’s Quahog Quahog as you can trade these. Here’s a reminder of where to get them.

Bread (Always) – Get from completing TV Guide Achievement Tasks, Intergalactic Combat Mini Game, Clam-O-Rama Theatre, Swinging 60’s Mystery Box

Scratch (Always) – Get from completing TV Guide Week 2 Achievement Tasks, Clearing Mods on Mopeds, Trading in Bread, QPlex, Swinging 60’s Mystery Box

Cheddar (Always) – Get from completing TV Guide Week 3 Achievement Tasks, Clearing Vandals, Trading in Bread,  Trading in Scratch, Clam Theater, 80’s Nostalgia Mystery Box (Chance)

CURRENCY TRADING

As I said above, it’s crucial you  keep earning Bread in 1950’s Quahog, Scratch in 1960’s Quahog & Cheddar in 1970’s Quahog as you will trade these to get Charge Cards. Trades will only show in your store when you’re in 1980’s Quahog and you can only trade Scratch & Cheddar directly for Charge Cards.

Basically select whichever trade you want to do to complete the trade, you can only do this if you’ve got enough Scratch or Cheddar. The 1980’s trades are:

154  can be traded for 15

95  can be traded for 30

Please note some trades from previous weeks are no longer available.

And I personally direct trade one currency for the most recent one where that option is available.

EVENT MATERIALS

Switch Blades (Always) –  Get from clearing Punks, Illegal Weapons Car, 80’s Nostalgia Mystery Box (Chance)

Gears (Common): Get from Peter Try A New Trick, 1980’s Quagmire House

Banana Peel (Always) – Get from Crafting in A Pizza Paradise

Unicycle (Always): Get from Crafting in A Pizza Paradise

EVENT AREA IN QUAHOG

There is still just 1 item up in the usual event area and it’s the fantastic transporting device, The Cursed TV.  This will allow you to travel back to yesterday years, starting last week with 1950’s Quahog, 1960’s Quahog, 1970’s Quahog and this week 1980’s Quahog. Just tap on it to see the  Cursed TV decades you can be transported back to.

Be aware most things you need to do this week will be done in 1980’s Quahog not in your standard Quahog. This includes some items in the store only showing up when you’re in 1980’s Quahog. But don’t neglect your duties back in 1950’s Quahog, 1960’s Quahog & 1970’s Quahog as you still want to get your hands on those currencies to trade.

1980’s QUAHOG

By tapping on the Cursed TV in the event area or tapping the TV icon in the lower right corner of your game screen you can “travel” back in time to the 1980’s event area, here’s where you’ll earn stuff  and acquire items to further help you along in the event.

.

As the event progresses, more past decades will unlock for you to travel back to. But for now the latest decade you will see will be 1980’s Quahog.

To go to 1980’s Quahog, just select it from the Cursed TV screen, then tap “Let’s Go” and you will now be taken to an alternate play area. (And remember to return to your bog standard Quahog or go to 1950’s Quahog, 1960’s Quahog and 1970’s Quahog you just use the Cursed TV again, only selecting whichever of them as your destination).

Once there you will notice a hammer to “repair” in 1980’s Quahog as you progress. This is for the character 1980’s Quagmire . He IS timed so be aware you’ll only have 7 days to unlock him after repairing him. Only once he’s repaired can you start collecting items to unlock him.

As well as this you’ll all the usual event content such as buildings and baddies to defeat. And I’ll be breaking all this down below.

BOXY’S APPLIANCE SHOP

Boxy’s is where you will trade the Event Currency you collect while playing the game to unlock Buildings & Decorations to use to further your game play in the Event.

Here are the items you can unlock during Week Four…

1980’s Goldman’ Pharmacy: Required to unlock 80’s Quagmire

A pizza paradise

This will be you’ll trade your items, it’s essentially a “Crafting” area where you will combine materials to make the Banana Perls you need to trip the Break Dancer and the Unicycles for unlocking 80’s Quagmire.

 Stink Bombs

Needed to craft: 2 Switch Blades

Time to manufacture: 3hrs

 Unicycle

Needed to craft: 2 Gears

Time to manufacture: 1hr 30mins

You can be crafting up to 6 items in the Products Queue at a time. If the queue is full you will have to wait until one finishes before adding more into the Queue.

Basically just like previous weeks all you need to do is collect the necessary materials and then select the item you want to manufacture. Once you start manufacturing you’ll see items preparing in the section on the right. The clam cost to speed them up is also shown there.

And here’s a reminder of where you’ll get the materials you need for crafting:

Switch Blades (Always) –  Get from clearing Punks, Illegal Weapons Car, 80’s Nostalgia Mystery Box (Chance)

Gears (Common): Get from Peter Try A New Trick, 1980’s Quagmire House

Punks

You will be able to start seeing Punks in your 1970’s Quahog when you trigger Pt. 2 of the main Questline.

You will find them wandering your 1980’s Quahog Playspace, so look there and you will find them. I’ve only had 6 max available at any one time, and they seemed to be released in my game every 4 hours. Be aware if you place a Sidewalk that’s where they will gather.

Clearing them is pretty simple, you need one of the following characters, Mort or 80’s Quagmire to clear a Punk, both have a 3 hour task to do this.

Firstly make sure there is a Punk in your town and send Mort or 80’s Quagmire to clear him, you can access their tasks either by clicking on their profile or by clicking on a Punk and tapping GO.

Characters Used:
Mort
80’s Quagmire

Task Time: 3hrs

For example the task you’re looking for Mort is: Get Funky

As I said it takes 3 hours to clear each Punk and you can see the task progress by clicking on the character during their task. Once the character has completed  you it will auto complete and you can gather your rewards.

Per Punk Cleared:
3 Switch Blades (Always)
1 Pop Art Poster (Chance)

BREAK DANCER BOSS

The Break Dancer Boss will trigger as soon as you start week 4 of the event. This is your Main Boss this week of the Event. You will “Trip” him with Banana  Peels you craft during the Event to get defeat him to the highest level possible and obtain the most prizes.

Banana Peel (Always) – Get from Crafting in A Pizza Paradise

You’ll see him wandering your sidewalks with a timer above his head.

Simply tap him and you’ll see the level requirement trade and rewards. Collect the Banana Perls necessary for the trip then hit, eh, “TRIP“.

Here is the general breakdown of trades costs and rewards. The item you need to trade may differ from mine but the amounts needed will be the same.

1X – Requires 1 Banana Peel
Rewards – 1 Charge Card & 1 Donation Hat

2X – Requires 3 Banana Peels
Rewards – 2 Charge Cards & 4 Donation Hats

3X – Requires 6 Banana Peels
Rewards – 4 Charge Cards & 8 Donation Hats

4X – Requires 10 Banana Peels
Rewards – 6 Charge Cards & 13 Donation Hats

5X – Requires 15 Banana Peels
Rewards – 9 Charge Cards & 19 Donation Hats

You have 24hrs to hit the highest level before the Break Dancer will rest (cool down). His cool down is 4 hours.

Please note when he returns he will be back at 1x unless you’ve used clams to wake him at the level he went into cool down at.

TV GUIDE WEEK 4

You’ll find a full and more detailed post on up on the site soon!!!

Think of this as a “CHECK LIST” of items that will help you gather resources for the Event.

You can get to the current TV Guide Screen by tapping on the Icon in the lower right corner of the game screen. You get to the last 3 weeks Guides by tapping the Green Arrow when you’re in the Week 4 Guide, it’s at the top left.

Once you complete a task you will see CLAIM appear  above the icon.

You must  be mindful of this and tap on the “CLAIM” button next to an order to gain your reward. As I say be vigilant on collecting rewards in order you trigger the subsequent task.

To go quickly to location of a task you need to complete, tap on the “GO” icon next to it.

Here is the list of what I currently see in my game for this Weeks TV Guide  (as you clear one or progress through the event, another will appear)…

Wheelin’ And Deelin’

Gutter Punks

Head Spinners

Decade Of Excess

Reconstruction Period

Rearview Replay

GRAND PRIZE: If you complete 64 Achievement Tasks, you can also unlock the Clam Arcade.

There you have the overall basics to get you started through the fourth Week of the New Event. Where are you so far? Anything particular you like the most? Suggestions or tips to fellow players? Let us know.

  2. What’s the point of keeping collecting bread if you can’t trade it in now in the 80’s?

    • You can trade it for Cheddar and trade that fir Charge Cards in the 80’s

      • Cherry Bakewell

We can trade them…? Oh wow, this isn’t even the first time that I’ve only found out about trading in previous weeks currency really late in an event.

I have approximately 1500 of the currency from week 1, plus 200 from week 2, plus 300 from week 3… maybe this is a reason why ‘A Look In The Rear’ has been dragging so much!

Obviously, I should pay more attention to your articles! Just now traded in some yellows raised the whole amount to buy the 1980s Drunken Clam and plenty more trades still to do! Doh!

    • Isn’t the Shredderz Sk8 Park just the same as the Kool-Aid Sk8 Park released a few years park along with Kool Aid man?

  4. Hey, RT: I know it takes a while to get over these things ;-), but I think you left this in by accident… “yes you read that right, 36 turns to win 60’s Brian. This is absolutely not how a mystery box should work and I’ve contacted TinyCo to tell them this. But so you can cry along with me here’s what I got in order of tries.” 🙂 Without the repeats this time, it should be easier, for those who do try.
