Hello There Clammers!
Well the Mysterious Sarcophagus as FINALLY hit both games. (more thoughts on the delay for iOS users in a bit)
So now that it’s finally available on both platforms many of you are asking….what’s the deal with this guys? Are they worth the clams? What’s OUR opinion on them?
Let’s take a look…..
As we broke down when they first hit the games (for Android users) on Friday night….the mystery boxes are basically a way for you to spend clams and get more prizes, booty or free clams. While we’ll break down more specifics a little later here’s my initial thought on them…..
Save your clams, at least for now. These boxes simply aren’t work the clams they cost. Yes, there’s a chance to win clams but spend clams to win clams just isn’t what I had in mind with this event. Now if you could open/unlock them with Event Currency (Say every 1000 booty earns you a try), then I might be all for them. But NOT a fan of the spend money aspect of these….at least not yet. That may change as the event winds down (And we’ll do another post about it if it does), but for now I’m in the “Stay away” camp.
Now I want to talk about another aspect of these boxes that frustrated me over the last few days…the EXTREME delay to iOS users on getting the new content. For days iOS users were teased with the Sarcophagi popup, and unable to do anything about it. All it did was cause frustration for may player AND some confusion as well. Many players thought they had something wrong with their game because the popup was there, but no boxes to purchase. Not cool in my opinion. Not cool at all.
Personally, I’m not a fan of this process with the two different App Stores. This is FAR too long of a gap between when Android hit and when iOS became available, especially when new content is in the update. This is happening WAY to often. Other games can manage to get updates for both devices available on the same day (when it’s brand new content), so why can’t this game do the same? They really need to start the iOS approval process sooner, so they can be matched up a little closer. Granted, I honestly don’t think you’re missing all that much in the way of content…but still should be on the same page.

I refuse to buy any gambling boxes in games on principle. They make the game companies the most money, but they are rotten to the consumer.
Were you even able to examine the game files to find out what the odds are, like in Tapped Out?

I hate the “games of chance” concept that Fox seems to be fond of. Since that seems to be the only thing added in this update and since it sounds like the mummy rate (and subsequently the moon idol drop rate) decreases with the update, I’m resisting it as long as the game will let me.

I feel so bad for everyone. I bought one Stewie Sarcophagus. Landed the grand prize and now I am earnin 2000 butt idols every 18 hours.

Don’t feel bad it’s like it is with any gamble if you can’t afford to then DONT… I mean congrats ur one of the lucky ones but hey if you have a flutter on the bingo or fruit machines remember if it fails you just have to walk away sometimes you put one coin in and walk away with the jackpot or put 10 in and walk away with nothing remember it is a game not a test or qualification, wow a PhD in FGQFS I’d like that hanging on my wall…lol but if they used moon idols instead of clams that would be better…..what u say tiny Tiny?

Not worth it! Id hate to spend 120 hard earned clams and get some lame lotus pond or something. Why do they place so much value on that thing anyways whats so special about it that they make worth 20,000 idols or 120 clams. I just got the evil monkey statue which i think is the most awesome decoration in the event so im satisfied with that. No sarcophagus for me.

I must be a gambling addict. Saved up 200 clams this whole time. Then bought the mystery boxes and lost them all and got very few moon idols. Now I need to stop playing this game for awhile and mourn my clam loss

Not wasting my clams. My husband did for fun and 25 clams got him 375 butts. His co worker got some rare statue on his 25 clams so is done spending. I am so bored with nothing to do but level players. I don’t care about any of the moon idol prizes so am not pushing. I go in every 8 hours.

I had much more success with Peter for eyeball than the doctor. About 2 weeks with 2 or 3 task each day with doc for 1 eye. Then I got 2 eyes out of peter in few days trying. Didn’t get as many idols in those days though.

I have been leaving my game open on my iPad and it generates two dude mummies (and sometimes a random chick mummy) every minute. This is cool as hell! Still not purchasing any sarcophagi, however.

Yup, you can easily earn 300-500+ moons an hour by leaving the app open and tapping on the flood of mummies every 10-15 mins. Makes the sarcophagi even less appealing!

i spent 25 clams 2x! the first was 800 booty and the 2nd gave me just enough clams to set me where i was before trying the first time! i see everyone complaining about eyeballs but my issue is Lois’ watches, ive been stuck on 2 of 5 for some time now! i understand extra rare but this is getting ridiculous!

I did ok, I spent really low end. I am a freemium player and had 90 clams saved, I spent a few tries on the cryptic, first got the fancy shrine, then just repeatedly won 30 clams (5 clam profit/roll) eventually I won enough to try the stewie one, and got the Dj booth. While it is not the best prize, I’ll be happy if it stays exclusive. If it becomes available for purchase with clams then I feel tinyco should give us refunds on those particular prizes. That being said, idol prizes are winnable and they probably shouldn’t have put theses exclusives in there in the first place. Final thoughts: not too bad a price drop on the stewie one would be great so that freemium players don’t need to spend their “life savings”. Otherwise not bad.

I bit the bullet and bought clams (gasp) only to fulfill the bonus mission on the side and went for another Stevie roll, got another dj…. I wasn’t expecting the epic shrine, but 2 just looks funny now. They should have implemented a limit on the amount of epic things you can get. That being said, kudos and grats to all people who got 1 or more epic shrines!!!

I have people in my Facebook group reporting they bought over 30 of these things. A few saying they spent like 2k in clams lol. Very mixed results on the prizes BTW, really hoping the Addicts team can get the odds posted up for everyone.

I am working on it. It is sooooooooooo random in each test game. VERY random. I am looking though. Bunny’s lil mind won’t settle until I see more data on it. 😉

Due to the limits of the game, the animations come and go. It helps the game to run more smoothly when there is not a lot going on to bog it down.

I agree the sarcophagi are a rip off! How the he$& do you earn more clams without buying them ? And getting that last eye- frickin impossible!

If it would have been all clam prizes and the exclusive prizes, it would have been worth a gamble. Even the DJ Booth and disco floor is not worth 120 clams each if given the option to buy them. They should cost moon idols instead of having to win them by spending 120 clams. To get 1600 idols from the Stewie sarcophagus for 120 clams is a rip-off. I can get that many idols a day without spending clams. I’m saving my clams for premium characters instead.

I’ve opened 7 Stewies (yes, 7) and all I got was booties, and 2 oasis’, and 150 clams, which I used again. And as the OP said, it’s NOT worth it. I would have been happy with at least a dance floor or DJ mummy, but nothing. Pretty pi**ed off right now. TinyCo will hopefully change things up, this does not bode well for the game.

This update is so unimpressive and I will definitely not be opening either sarcophagi. I play on iOS and don’t want to update yet because I heard that it reduces the amount of mummies generated and I want to save up as many idols as I can to buy decorations before the event ends.

Hi Kristen. I play on an iPhone too. I updated the app this morning. The main difference for me is that when I launch the game after it’s been closed for a while there are less mummies that pile out of the pyramid; however, if I leave the game open and run quick timed tasks (like Peter’s 1mn Surf the Bird) then the pyramid rapidly sends out mummies every 30sec. I’m collecting a lot more butts now!

I totally understand that they have to navigate two app stores (or whatever it’s called on android), but the notifications pissed me off. I was out and about this weekend, not checking in here, so I assumed my game was broken. I went through the typical game fixes, including uninstalling and reinstalling before I sent a message to tinyco. Not that it took a ton of time, but there never should have been notifications if the content wasn’t available yet. This is completely unacceptable (as was the BS response I got from tinyco).

I havent’t seen these, nor have I seen the update icon on my ipad, or ipod. What exactly do these do? Can you keep them and place them, or are they like the Gold Homer stature in the Simpsons? I got the swordsman last night. I feel like I have nothing left to do witht his event.

I’ve opened RS 2 times already; my result – 3000 booties and 150 clams. So, I think that it’s worth to try, but not very interesting. It’ll be better, if TinyCo solved all that problems with getting the last eyeball, for example, because I’ve got frustrated for not being able to get that f*cking eyeball so far!!!

i cannot believe there are some people still waiting for that damn eyeball. Wow !! took me almost 14 days to get that last damn eyeball. I am done with all the quests now in the game and it is getting dull. Tiny Co….Bring on STEWIE !!!!

I started trying to get my last eyeball 2 weeks before the pyramid event and I have unlocked Adventure Peter and Cleveland and still no eyeball. If I haven’t received it by the time the pyramid event is over I plan on quitting the game. It has gone from fun to frustrating. TinyCo needs to put some sort of trigger in the drop rate that after a certain number of attempts it is guaranteed to drop.

I’m on android, over the past couple of days, I’ve been playing these sarcophagi. I’m up about 1,800 clams and have three large shrines, I started with 800clams.
However I could see how it could go the other way if you are unlucky. I only initially lost quite a few clams then I got a couple of clam dunks in a row.
While I’m happy with this update due to the huge increase in clams and the shrines. Im sure there will be people who are as unlucky as I am lucky.

Im a bit more lucky than you I think. I started with 400 clams and ended with 11 giant shrines and 6000 clams. The amount of clam dunks I got was ridiculous.

How about we not judge those we do not know. For many of us that have been here since the start, the game glitched a few times and clams dropped like mad. Some were able to get upwards of over 1000 free clams due to the glitch. Secondly, many of us actually pay cash money for our games. Us Addicts have paid a few hundred dollars for each of our games and we have a lot of clams in them, so are you accusing anyone that has more than you of it?
You are entitled to your opinion, however…we won’t allow bashing and vulgarities towards other players on our site regardless. Please keep your comments relating to the post itself. No trolling allowed here. Thanks. 😉

I KNOW the glitch that happened that allowed MANY to start off with over a 1000 clams (Even TinyCo confirmed this as a glitch as I communicated with the Director of TinyCo on it for MANY players afraid they would take them back). Again, regardless of your personal thoughts…you do not know what people do and do not spend their money on. You do not know their winnings. Just because they say that is what they started with…why are you assuming it was not purchased? I started with over 3000 clams…that I purchased…but I did not post banners out or inform everyone of it. Why do I need to? People do not owe anyone explanation how they came about their clams. Again, you are not sticking to the topic of the post and inciting hatred towards someone you do not know for no reason other than your personal assumptions. If we SEE someone posting specifically on hacks, mods, cheats, etc…we will send them along to the proper location. But we do not assume everyone guilty the moment they make a comment. That would be unrealistic.
As far as the Sarcophagi, I am working on a post and have won 500 clams now several times. Odds are just that…odds. You can win all sorts of prizes with the purchases of them. Again, why are you picking another player apart? There is absolutely no cause or reason for it other than inciting anger and/or trolling. No reason for that kind of behavior at all. Again I ask that you stay to the subject manor of the post. This will be the last I comment on it.

I agree with You. I’ve been playing since the beginning. I never got any such glitch on the outrageous number of clams people claim to have gotten. That’s cool if they paid hard earned money for a chance at something. But the other way isn’t fair. Where’s my thousand free clams?

You will eventually earn them too. It was a glitch in the payouts over time. So those that got them all at once, will not get any more in the future. Similar to the bonus clams for finishing character groups. Some players, even though the sets were not complete, got the payouts anyway for all of the sets. It just means they will get them all now and NONE in the future for them.
A glitch is a glitch. Nothing you can do about it. No way to go back. Again, let’s stick to the the topic at hand. 😉

I agree with Rob and Nixxi. There have been no glitches within the recent update. Thats straight from the developers mouth. The sarcophagi were heavily tested after the game crash bug to make sure they were working correctly and that the drop rates and prizes were working as well. Theres NO WAY that guy got 11 huge shrines and 2000 extra clams by doing Sarcopagi. The developers want you to lose clams on these deals not make clam, otherwise its like giving away free money

I guess all the players right NOW getting several dance floors or the same item over and over all must be playing the game wrong? So I guess I need to just speak very plain and simple as it seems no one would like to pay attention to actual facts. (I was putting all this in a post, but it seems some are just too impatient to wait…) so… Here goes…
A Tank of 3,500 Clams for 99.99$ USD. (As the commenter specified they purchased at least this. Addicts has also done this.)
Stewie Sarcophagi @120 Clams each
That means you can open 29 of these if you wish
Brian Sarcophagi @25 Clams each
That means you can open 140 of these if you wish
In testing Stewie it seemed around a 30% chance of the exclusive prizes hitting…mainly…the Shrine. So if we take 29 and divide it by 3…that equals 9. Hmmm there is that darn old math.
Clams won on Stewie varied between 12 and 15%. So that gives about 2-3 Clam wins (I got 150 and 500’s). That equals out to being able to buy even MORE Sarcophagi and keep playing odds. Guess what you can win with more buys? …Shrines.
For Brian, those odds you can wait for the post. 140 opened, plus keep winning clams which give more options to open…on n on n on.
In conclusion, winning 2000 Clams…VERY likely chance. Especially when you bounce between the two and their odds. Winning many Shrines…also a great possibility. I have had no problem doing either. You just need to invest to get some kind of return and do the math. As you can see, the house is still winning as you replace clams with product. Paying out 4000 clams and getting a 50% return on them, seems very likely odds to me. 😉

I do not think you are looking at the math. Why you continue to pick this apart is beyond me.
You buy 4000 Clams…so that is money right away in their pockets. Through out game play you use up a lot of those paid for clams and they only gave you a portion of that back in winnings, but mostly items.
How on earth in any mind is that not a benefit to the house? You are giving hard earned cash to get in game goods and “stuff” from them, not cash back. Once the clams run out, MORE will have to be bought with hard earned cash.

I agree, Bunny. And man, some people get really angry. I may get frustrated, but I do remember it’s a game! Remember when I got locked out of TSTO during one event and I was freaking out? I’ve never really gotten mad, though. The house always wins, we play to enjoy, and some ppl have straight up gambling addictions. I tend to avoid anything that involves chance, as I have an addictive personality. Those egg boxes during TSTO Easter? I spent way too much on donuts to get Shary Bobbins. I can’t get too wrapped up or I’ll go crazy. (And I have to work!)
I’m gonna give it a couple days, and then I may break down and buy some clams…but only to get the cool guaranteed items, like Ricky’s Cantina. (Cause it looks cool).
Did you say the Sarcophogi are going to be around until the end of the event?

I don’t know if it’s just my game or what but I’ve been stuck on journal entry 5/7 for weeks. I thought maybe with the new update it would change but it hasn’t is anyone else having this issue?

I agree with all your points Alissa. And I too, brought up these same concerns and observations in earlier comments I posted. Also, fun fact that most iOS users are aware of, Apple seldom (except in rare occasions) post updates on weekends. So I kinda knew I was waiting until Monday for the first chance to see it available.
IMO, TinyCo needs to stop with the Friday evening updates (make Wednesday or Thursday your “Day”) to give a better shot for multi-platform synchronized updating (plus you have more trouble shooters on the clock during the weekdays than weekends).

I agree with CyberSilly, the timing needs to be better. They are aware that the process at Apple is longer, so they should be taking proactive action about submitting for approval much sooner before Android. I understand this doesn’t work as well for a weekly update model, but that means they should be submitting content intended for the following week much earlier.
I’m not sure if mummies spawn less overall after updating (in hindsight, I probably should have waited to assess this), but I also found that 2-4 mummies will spawn every minute and if you play extended like an extended time (like making Peter do the bird), there is a greater frequency of seeing female mummies. My mummies only seem to spawn in-game and active.

I commented on this in a different post but will paste here as this is the specific topic: I’m enjoying the game, I like it overall. But I feel that this event is worse than the Easter event from TSTO. It’s all one big clam drive without a substantial payoff. Once you unlock Cleveland the fun factor plummets.

Dear Alissa and Fam addicts. Guys I loves u really I do I want a bit nuts opened two on weekend got 4000 bu…I mean moon idols then I thought I’ll go again and got an oasis….yeah eh what I couldn’t of been more disappointed than the time I met … [insert generic cut away here] so I decided as I was having a cr**py day at work I would like Charlie from chocolate factory fame ( the older film not the Johnny Depp nightmare vision) ” give it one last shot so I saved up my clams selected the stewie sarcophagi I got…I got ……another flaming Oasis….that will teach me then I thought sod it once more then I got …..A BADONKADONKING SHRINE!!! SWEEEEEEEEET! So if you can’t afford to clam up then don’t but if you can then do it on events It can be well worth while I spent my “real money” when the event adds extra not before that’s where Tiny and me work well I feel like I one the lotto another hour I will have 2000 idols….I’m soooooo happy! And yes the shrine looks awesome. Just one thing I would of liked to keep a sarcophagi as a decorative I didn’t resize u do that he to keep it 😦 and I have just relieved I have list my king Kong Camel….now he’s too small…lol Until the next time I am out of here……DTX

I agree with you across the board. This aspect of the event was disappointing. I understand that they want to make money; I would to… but it seems like at every turn, they’re exclusively asking for more clams. I had been sitting on my clams building up to either Consuela or Buzz and then they announced double idols for specialty characters so I bit and picked up the horse and Jake. Then days later, they release another clam exclusive aspect. It’s a bit ridiculous. I don’t plan on ever opening either of the boxes.
Regarding synced updates, they should be familiar enough with the approval process by now to know what kind of lead time is required for iOS and Android. I understand there is a schedule to this event with a hard deadline, but that is entirely the responsibility of TC. They need to clean it up pronto. I’m on Android, myself, so I don’t see a lot of those delays, but it’s just simple logistics and forethought.

To break the line, I think it is worth trying, why well because i am a collector and if ( IF ) your a collector then you have to do it :).
So i done it, it costed me 2500 clams and i got it all ( some double ) and a nice refund of 750 clams will bring my spended clams back from 2500 to 1750 clams.
Is it a must to do it, well NO not really, but it is fun, well it is 🙂
So to be quick for all players don’t spend it if you don’t have it, but do you have it and your a collector you can give it a try ( i got the dance floor, turntable and the Badonkadonk temple with in the first 15 try’s ) but i could not resist it to leave it alone so i spended more then i had in mind 🙂
So to all just give it a try and some will have luck some other will have not its a gamble afterall.

I play usually on both my iphone and android tablet, when I play TSTO I swtich between both platforms with no issues. However, with FGQFS I can play a game on my android tablet, however, I cannot get my level 33 game playing on both devices. I have tried everything possible and everytime I try and move my FGQFS game level 33 to my tablet it keeps asking to reset the game to level 1. I have used my facebook account (reluctantly) as my logon for FGQFS. Anyway I gave up trying and only use my iphone for FGQFS…(BTW….I am an IT guy so I tried everything I can think of). Anyway, other then hearing form this site about the update, I did not see any glitches on the iphone with pop ups. I did the update today on the iphone, but I am NOT using my hard earned clams for the sarcophogus’s.

With regards to prizes, I think its disgusting that they’ve included so many prizes that could otherwise be bought with your collected moon butts. Unless they release more content that require moon butts to purchase, people are going to have a massive haul of butts with no value at all (assuming you win the evil monkey etc).

I think it’s a bizarre glitch with how it interacts with the Facebook app in Android, if you delete it (Facebook app) and then open the game in your android device and go though the ” login with Facebook” or whatever the wording is, it will then ask you to enter your details you used to log in. And you should be able to play no problem.
I would also suggest creating a separate facebook account for games and things like that without any real details of yourself as It is easy and then it’s not a big deal to give your facebook stuff as it seems to be a bit of a trend for games now.
Anyways if the instructions weren’t so clear, just reply and I can do something. Step by step.

I’m not a fan of the Sarcophagi either. In truth, it’s getting incredibly frustrating that our Coins do not have more value! Why couldn’t they give us some Booty exchange rate policy, like 1,000 Coins for 10 Booty, or better yet for 1 Clam?? What good is collecting coins if they serve no greater purpose? WTH?!

Agh, yes! An exchange rate for both clams and moon idols during the event is a great idea because yeah, coins have been pretty much useless since the event started. The only good thing about not needing them for the event is that it gave me the chance to get enough coins to clear all of the land, buy decorations and save up for new buildings once District 8 becomes available.

I’ve done the exact same thing. With all of the land and one of each building, the money starts stacking up fast. I just hope they don’t charge $200k to rebuild Quahog Funland.
