Well, we’ve all made it through another “work week” (kinda, sorta, almost) and the weekend looms large up ahead. All week we field your comments about your frustrations in the game (those damn bathtubs!) and we wanted to give you (and us) a fun new way for you to voice your frustrations and get it all off of your chest. So welcome to What the Hell?!

Here’s my What the Hell?! For this week:
-The Sarcophagi….why do they have to cost clams? Why can’t 1 cost booty and the other cost clams?! What the hell?!
-OMG with the updates! Holy crap TinyCo every frakkin day another update in the Google Play Store…are you kidding me?! Get it together with these updates, my frakkin sports apps didn’t update this much during NHL & NBA playoffs! What the hell?!
-And why we’re on the subject of updates….what’s with the iOS/Google Play update delays?! I know Apple has a longer approval process, but now it’s legitimately taking play time away from iOS users. Come on TinyCo…Apple users want a chance to mindlessly spend their clams too! What the hell?!
-And finally…the other day while driving home from work I had to merge lanes. Every other car was going…you know like you’re supposed to do…until it was my turn. The stupid jack-wagon car next to me wanted to be a royal PITA and nearly ran me off the road! All that to get 5 seconds ahead of me in the line of cars. Are you kidding me buddy?! Are you THAT impatient, that you can’t bother to frakkin have some respect and merge the right way? Not only that…you nearly run me off the road THEN you have the nerve to lay on your horn for a good 30-40 seconds at me. Really?! WHAT THE HELL?!

P.S. for those of you wondering why this is called What the Hell?! and not What Grinds my Gears…it’s because What the Hell is the running joke in the show. Every episode someone says What the Hell (or some version of it). So it’s a little kick to the show. That AND What the Hell is closer to something you’d say in real like (kinda like a tamer version of WTF), something odd happens you say “What the hell?!” and not “That really grinds my gears”. 🙂

I have been trying to get an eyeball for almost a month. I don’t even have one for Anime Peter. I’ve almost unlocked Cleveland, have Adventure Peter and S&M and Mid Life Lois. No eyeballs. Not sure what to do, because I paid for a bucket of clams at the beginning and they’re not getting any more money.

So here’s my WTH..
1. People complaining about the in game spending! If you think the sarcophagi/buildings are a rip off, don’t buy them? Ignore them and when the event is over they all go away, problem solved. Remember this game is free with OPTION to put money into it, key word being option, chill out!
2. The free dance floor looks out of place and it’s really frustrating me that I can’t find somewhere good for it.
3. I need more land! I’ve had to store my baseball field and Olympic pool to make room for st elmos clam and party pyramid and they had their own spot in my town and everything 😦

What I have noticed if your looking to get an epic item. Clam shell,whip,eye ball get your character that is doing the quest for it to nearly levelling up and when they level up you should get it. I just got a whip and a shell for the lighthouse and fire station because I got two characters to level up

So i opened up a Stewie Sarcophagus the day they came out, and got a dance floor. Well that was a WASTE of 120 Clams that i earned since i started the game… because now they give us a free dance floor. So i pretty much WASTED 120 CLAMS!! Im honestly so ticked off with this, and wish they would do something about this… -_-” cause I’m sure its happened to a lot of people.

Alright, welcome to: TinyBox doesn’t know how to plan events, or you’d better pay us a lot of money, or you won’t get much out of the event
It’s Maths time:
The event lasts for 33 days, so 792 Hours
Assuming of course, that the last prize is at 100k butts (Fair guess), this means you need to be earning a consistent 127 butts per hour. From the beggining. Every hour.
Now let’s look at what they gave us (and keep in mind, I started the game 2 days before this event, so I had nothing unlocked). Hell, let’s not even do that. Let’s pretend that I, as a new player, would start with everything somehow. All costumes, all chars, they’ve already doubled up the butts, zombies have come out constantly throughout the event.
If I was attempting to Maximize my return without spending clams, by spending every minute of every day, with no sleep, and 0 delay in any inputs, I would get:
Bruce: 8/hour
Peter: 120/hour
Jerome: 8/hour
Lois: 16/hour
Chris: 16/hour
Quagmire 8/hour
Bonnie: 8/hour
Museum: 1.25/hour
Zombies: 60/hour (3 zombies every 15 minutes, averaging 5 butts a zombie)
For a total of… 253 butts/hour. requiring 395 hours of game time, or 16.5 days.
Obviously, this isn’t the slightest bit realistic as you miss clams for quests and events neccesary to complete the event, and of course, the amounts have been steadily increased, but that is what you, as a player, are required to do, to complete this event without spending clams.
Just as an example, spending clams would get you another
Jake – 16
Conseula – 16
Buzz – 16
Horse – 16
Shrines – 6/25/62
Adding another 157 butts/hour, for 310. Or to make 100k butts, 322 hours. Or 13 days. Of constant, minutely playing, or hourly, if you take away 104 butts/hour for Peter. Also note that it costs 400 clams for 62 butts/hour. Or approximately 15 bucks.
To complete this event, you either need to drop a butt load of cash, or play minutely like you were a bot. Or, like most sensible people would do, just note that this event was clearly planned by an idiot.
Let’s just say that if you are satisfied with this event, you aren’t paying attention. Not to say the event itself isn’t neat, but the butt and prize distribution is frankly, pathetic. It seemed to not have been planned at all, but just randomly guessed at that “Sure, this’ll be enough”. That, or it’s a blatant cash grab, because I can’t see an elementary school student planning this poorly, let alone a game development company.

I totally get where you’re coming from. But there are a few issues you might not be taking into account. First is, I don’t think TinyCo wants everyone playing to actually get all the prizes…especially without spending real money. They want things to be hard to get, partially to get people to throw down real cash to get them, and partially to reward heavy-users that grind the game to get moons.
I don’t think it necessarily means that a long event is poorly planned if every player, no matter their starting point, can’t get all the prizes without spending money or a ton of time. There are lots of other things to criticize about this event (uneven updates between platforms, speed-drop buildings coming out days after new characters or skins that need the drops etc), but not getting everything by playing freemium isn’t one of them, imo. TinyCo needs to make money in order to develop and maintain games. There aren’t any ads in this game, so if people don’t buy clams, there’s no cash to keep things going. That said, if they don’t make interesting content that gets people to buy clams, the game will die from cash-starvation.
All that said, there is one major thing lacking in your math: the mummy drop rate. After the last update (the sarcophagi one), mummies started spawning at a rate of 2-3 per min as long as you have the game open. They max out at 24 onscreen at a time. If you want to get more moons fast, the best way is to just leave your app open and tap all the mummies whenever you get the chance (every 10-15 mins is obviously best). If you can do that, you should get at least 150 moons every 15 mins, or 600 an hour – and usually a lot more than that. I’m freemium (except I had to buy Consuela, she’s hilarious) and have all districts open, and I get at least 7,000 moons a day between the characters and the mummies. One 15 min round with the mummies gets more than any character can get doing pretty much any long action. You can spend time, or you can spend actual cash if you want to get more prizes. And spending time actually gets you a lot more moons (a large shrine gets you 62 moons an hour…you can get more than that just by leaving the app open for 10 mins)! If it was easy, it wouldn’t be as fun!
So it is possible, but it’s not easy. But I’m an addict, and get some joy from tapping a boatload of mummies a few times an hour and seeing my idol count grow. I can’t say I’m totally satisfied with the event, but I’m having more fun than before, when I had all the districts open with no quests left to do. And I think, despite what you said, I might actually be paying attention! …Although I guess I might not be sensible since I pretty much always have the game open over the past week…good thing my job allows me such insanity! And finally, I look at the prize distribution as motivation for my tapping addiction! Besides, the clam prize is easily obtainable by anyone, and that’s really what most people want, right? If I could give you my gorilla, I would! Hell, I’d trade in all my prizes so far for more clams!

Brian and Chris together gives 20/ hour
Bonnie and Joe can do 8hr task for 80 which is 10/hr
Cleveland can also get 12/hr by doing 10 min tasks
The horse can get only 12/hr because it doesn’t have a one hour task lowest is 3hr 36idols
As for a green mummies spawn 3/15 min no matter if ur in game or not

I opened the Stewie sarcophagus 11 (you read that right, eleven) times. And the Brian one once. Yes, with real money I spent on clams. Thought, “well, I’ll give it a gamble, contribute to the game… I trust TinyCo. And, hey, they’ll look nifty in my town.” (Obviously assuming you get one to place for 120 clams. Wrong!) All I really wanted was the damn DJ booth. This is what I got: 6 (SIX, effing SIX) dance floors, a lotus pond, butts twice and 150 clams twice. I don’t even remember what the Brian one got me, I’m so disillusioned. Please note I did the first few when they first launched. I really thought you got the sarcophagus as well as opening it to see what ya might get. That’s why I did each one. I know, I’m an idioth. But that’s messed up. REALLY messed up. I played their game 11 times, (12, if you count the small, pointless Brian one) I think I should get the choice to buy the DJ Booth! Lol.
Then, my favorite; they announce the “buildings?” literally HOURS after I used clams to hurry up & get Pop’n’Lock Cleveland, or whatever he’s called. I was worried there wasn’t enough time to get the skin & do the quests before the next update, which seem to be scheduled every 10 hours now! Wtf? I figured when they do (a real, affecting gameplay) update, I’ll need Cleveland for tasks. Also, although I’m a bit of a completionist, I used all my clams. After the Gardens and carts fiasco, after the sarcophagus fiasco… I’m absolutely never handing my money over to this company again. I’m sorry. But I feel used. I need a shower. I know, I was asking for it; trusting TinyCo, gambling, worrying about time limits. It’s probably my fault for playing every day, loving Family Guy (even when it’s clear FG doesn’t love me back), wanting to contribute to payroll. My family tells me I’m a fool. I should leave and never look back. Even when King Butt begs me to stay. I have to admit, I’m starting to think my loved ones are right. This has all gotten out of control. It’s just use & abuse me and then make some small, useless gesture to ask for forgiveness. No more! Stop the insanity! 🙂
Anyway, I also had an idea: how about the decorations unlock an action in a character? Kinda like how the flower bed, bake sale & ring of fire can be used. Otherwise, they’re kind of pointless & take up precious real estate.

to ANYONE whose complaining about king butt being last prize(and if you check back to this blog) its not. game files show fart of the covenant and gold adventure trophy(obviously, they state it on the bio for silver) but yeah, there WILL be more before the event end. just wait on it 😉

No king butt is the final prize. Tiny Co had another thing in place but changed it throughout the course of the event. Which it’s why we don’t post about items until they’re in the game.

Really? Another useless prize? The gorilla is a let down. I’m really hoping for a Gold Adventure Trophy, but I’m starting to think that’s not going to happen given the last spot is for an “original character”. For realsies?… bronze and silver but no gold? WTH! smh

Not sure about this gorilla…but this is why we don’t post spoilers. So many people commented that they knew what the last 2 prizes were, and we insisted we don’t post until it’s released because TinyCo can change anything in the files at anytime…and here’s a classic example of that.

A gorilla named “not-so-angry gorilla” showed up in my game, presumably from my rather high butt count. Now there is only one question mark left on the treasures tab from that screen that pops up when you tap the big pyramid. That question mark has “Original Character!” above it, and “#party #rage #thrash #repeat!” as well. So… I’m not trying to spoil anything, but a) my game isn’t hacked and b) I have no control over what TinyCo makes show up on my screen.

They tried to tell us we were wrong and knew nothing because we wouldn’t post those last 2 items. So we were just laughing that TinyCo changed the last 2 prizes on those players. My WTH is not about the event or updates…
I’m on Level 40 – Why the hell do I still see XP dropping from buildings? It’s not going anywhere! It’s not like we have XP count that would go up from it, it’s just plain annoying and makes the game slower from all the XP icons flying around to nowhere.
I understand XP for characters that still aren’t maxed out – but when the game ls at level 40 and the character doing the task is maxed out I really think that XP icons shouldn’t be dropping anymore. Buildings dropping XP after level 40 is just pointless…

Was debating whether or not to play the sarcogagi. Had a yolo moment and played the stewie. Got the worst 1600 butts!!! Figured “hey, anything is better than this” so i played a second time and got the SAME THING!!! 240 clams for 3200 butt!?!? What the hell!?!?

Anime Peter Costume: 2 weeks later & I still haven’t managed to get a character to drop the last Eyeball…!!!! This eyeball say me coming & rolled off….80’s Pop Star Cleveland 10days left to complete…what!! there not dropping the items either grrr!!! I give up! Sooo I liked the “Exclusive” items in the Stewie Sarcophagus and decided to roll the dice a couple times to see if I could get one. I used my whole clam stash (Which is my own bad judgement, I’ll admit) and was thrilled when the last one netted me the Dance Floor.
NOW I find out that I could have got it for Free just by unlocking Cleveland? This comes after I had also purchased Consuela on Day 1 and ended up spending way more than I had to. I really need to learn to wait a week or two before making any purchases in this game. TinyCo changes their mind too often…

They do change things often. That is what makes it more difficult to advise on this site. We see something, post about it, then it is changed. I guess it is good as the players response is really impacting the game and TinyCo itself.

I’m not going to spend my clams on it that’s for sure. I’d love the Elmo’s clam but i would rather spend clams on the Pawtucket brewery if it’s ever gonna be in the game…

WTH… I opened 10… Yes, 10 Stewie sarcophagi. The best thing I got was one 150 clam one, which went to another Stewie sarcophagus. Every single other one was booty, and just one 4000 booty. All the others were crap!!!
Not one dance floor. Or DJ booth. Or new booty shrine. I’m fuming right now…

Mine is more of a future what the hell. About half of my characters are maxed and my game is a level 39, which we know maxes at 40. If and when Tiny Co. bumps up these limits, what the hell is going to happen? Are we going to get credit for all of these tasks we’ve run while it said MAX or is all that work just kind of wasted?
