Hello There Clammers!
So we’re into day two of the Valentine’s Day Event. As we’re all working on getting our bearings in this new event a lot of you have questions. And now that we’ve worked our way through just about all of phase 1 we’ve got answers for you!
So let’s break down some of your most common questions for Phase 1 (including Love/Hate Prizes, Couples, Handsome Peter, Character Tasks and more).
Handsome Peter isn’t in Al Harrington’s, Why Can’t I See Him?
Handsome Peter won’t appear, to collect items for, until you’ve reached Part 6 of the Beautiful People questline. Once that starts up you’ll see Handsome Peter appear in Al Harrington’s & the Store (under characters).
Can I Collect Items for Ida Davis before Repairing the Park Bench?
No. You cannot start collecting items for Ida until after you’ve “found” her. This means you’ll have to start the timer to collect the items.
What Strategy Do You Recommend for Earning Both Handsome Peter & Ida Davis?
I recommend focusing on collecting Valentine’s first. Earn as many as you can BEFORE repairing the Park Bench. You’ll need to build the Tunnel of Self-Love to unlock Ida, which costs 800 Valentines. I suspect this could be one of the biggest delays for many of you. So focus on earning as many Valentines as you can first (800 for Ida & 500 for Handsome Peter) & build the Tunnel of Self-Love before repairing the bench.
I also recommend working to get Handsome Peter first, because he has an action that will help you get Ida. But remember Handsome Peter isn’t timed. So if it comes down to it, focus on Ida and the timer first.
Why Can’t I See Tasks from Characters to Earn Valentines?
Various characters earn Valentines through tasks, we’ll have a complete breakdown up later, but they don’t start to unlock until after you progress through the questline. So keep moving through the various questlines and you’ll uncover more Valentine earning tasks. 🙂
What’s Up with Arnold? How Come It Says He Has a Task for Handsome Peter, But You Can’t Unlock the Ability to Buy Him Until After you Have Handsome Peter?
So initially there was an oversight with Arnold. Here’s the deal….he’s a premium character available for purchase at 250 clams. The ability to unlock Arnold won’t happen until you’ve completed the Beautiful People questline (at least past part 9). You’ve you’ve completed that questline the Clams and Muscles questline will start (Chris should start it). That questline is what will unlock Arnold in your store for purchase.
Now…initially it was indicated the Arnold could help earn Hot Wax for Handsome Peter. Of course this doesn’t make sense since you can’t get Arnold until after you have Handsome Peter. So….TinyCo has fixed this. Now Arnold will help earn items for Ida (Ribbons and Hormone Pills), as well as earn extra hearts.
What Happened to the Hot Wax Task Then?
TinyCo has moved the Hot Wax earning task from Arnold to the Tunnel of Self-Love (all the more reason to unlock it ASAP!).
What’s Up With the Couples?
Bunny wrote a VERY detailed post about the Affection Meter. (You can find that post here.) Since that post went live TinyCo has made some changes…in addition to revised spawn rates & an extended timer to 3 minutes…they’ve also added animations to float over each couples head to distinguish which couple is which. Here’s the guide:
Fighting couples = a cloud of broken purple hearts will be animating above their heads
Enamored couples = a cloud of red full hearts will be animation above their heads

Should make it a little easier to spot which is which!
Speaking of Affection Meter, How Do I Know Which Path to Choose?
It’s up to you if you want to go the Love route or the Hate route. Take a look at the items and decide which one you want to go.
Here’s what I can tell you…at least right now (for the first 2 prizes). So far all of the Love items are buildings. Buildings that earn extra Valentines and can help you with this event (and generate cash afterwards). While all of the hate items are decorations. Just items to look at but offer no payouts/tasks.
Remember, you can jump back and forth between the two for each character, but you can only choose 1 item for each character.
And yes…the Hot Tub is just a decoration. It is animated BUT no one uses it (at least not that I can see).
How Many Hearts (or Broken Hearts) Do I Need For Each Level?
So far Level 1 (Quagmire) requires 15 hearts (Broken or unbroken) and Level 2 (Peter) requires 50 hearts (Broken or unbroken). Remember…the hearts cancel each other out. So if you collect 5 Broken Hearts and 5 Unbroken Hearts you’ll have 0 Hearts. Make sense?
So I think that about covers your most commonly asked questions. Of course we’ll have posts going more into detail for each one..but for now I think this gives you guys a good overview.

I was tap-tap-tapping away on my lovers & all of a sudden a prize fell from the sky! Joes prize, to my surprise fell. I checked all day & never got to see the 3rd love/hate prize. I am loving the Valentine’s day event scene, especially the hanging flowers and the red brick road. Do you think there will be any kind of road other than the grey one we have now? how about the flowers? I guess I’m just a romantic at heart because It’s all so sickly sweet pretty to me.

Any idea why “The Scary Guys” have appeared in the characters list? I wasn’t around for the Halloween event last year, so can only assume it’s an error on the part of TinyCo reusing components for this Valantines event?

Maybe it’s been asked before, but the only one choice is a bit confusing. If I understand correctly you can decide per character if it’s love or hate? So in the end we have to choose between Beautiful Meg and something else?

Hey alissa and bunny can you plz do something with this major bug every time I go though to put someone on a quest it will freeze and then I have to take out my battery out of my phone plz fix this immediately

We’re not TinyCo, so unfortunately we can’t fix it. My best suggestion is to contact TinyCo. Let them know what you’re going through and see if they can help you troubleshoot it

I really have no idea if i want the love o hate prize for peter…i got the love prize for quagmire but really cant decide with peter… kinda like the hot tub….ugh choices! Someone help

Hot tub is just a decoration, although it is animated (it bubbles), while the building will help you earn more valentines. Not sure if that helps you decide. I can tell you I was going love side in my game, but I really liked the hot tub so I got that with Peter. I figured I’d make the Valentines up elsewhere.

Thanks i was thinking the same thing just because the first building only gives 8 valentines every 4 hours and i already have so many buildings in storage with nowhere to put them…i think im gonna go with the hot tub so i can have another decoration

You need 1300 total. BP is more a priority over Ida (as long as the timer isn’t running), since BP will help you get Ida. So I’d work on BP first.

Morning all. Freaking looked out my window this morning to another freaking foot of snow and more on the way. Dont know if it’s just me, but now that I have both heart prizes, when I tap the couples and get hearts it doesn’t register on the meter. I was gonna build up hearts so im guessing you can’t collect hearts till the next set of prizes, right.

No you should be able to continue to collect them. The meter might not move but it’ll tell you how many you have.

On the hearts the very last item when you scroll down has hot meg do you know if that’s a costume or a character?

Apparently if u visit ur friends cupid park and click on the 2 unfixed bench it’s Cheryl tiegs and cupids. Oh and u can see the names of the other buildings too.

Don’t know if anyone else has noticed…If you tap on icon below the star (the missing one that’s now back), it says next episode (phase 2???) starts Feb 12th, but you have to complete The Beautiful People Pt. 10.
For those that have tapped the check mark for Ida, what exactly do you need to collect? I’m just curious 😉
So far I’ve really enjoyed the event, it’s nice to have things a little differently (ie. tapping specific couples, not all).

Thank you for your recomendations on Ida Davis! I tend to get overly excited in the beginning of a new update and always miss out on some of the timed character. I had decided before the update went live to wait for your input before building anything in the valentines section. And as expected, you didnt disappoint.

So far, so good. Liking this event! Always a bummer when you can’t earn everything but I do like the buildings! My only curiosity is that I’m done with the first two love quests from the couples, but I keep collecting hearts from the couples. Are those going to be applied when the next round opens up? Are they just going to be wiped clean so I have to start over and therefore shouldn’t be bothering with still doing the couples when they appear?

Morning addicts, bunny and alissa. No complaints on this event, I am glad they extended the timer, only one heart away from the hot chocolitier. My question is on ida’s bench. I repaired it a couple of days ago but did not hit the check mark yet, does the timer start after I hit the check mark? Or has it been running this whole time. Have a nice day girls.

Thanks so much for the quick reply. Just to clarify, the timer starts when I hit the check mark, or when the check mark appears. Hopefully not the latter, that would mean I lost 2 days. I dont want to hit it till I get handsome peter, and the love yourself tunnel. Stupid me didn’t check in with addicts page before I repaired the bench, I didn’t want any spoilers. Got all love prizes, its pretty easy to collect hearts. I got 50 in 1 day.
I don’t want to risk it and get a not good looking prize so I might ignore the hearts for now.

Very helpful! I noticed Glenda in the menu and it said him/her find love….so i got me questing who it is. So i found her espiode. After watching it got me thinking of things i would like to see in this event. Mayor wests wife, Glenda being a costume/skin unless they are doing a multi-verse with this event, and Lois from the summer of love 1970’s basicly stewie’s age.

I brought the affection meter all the way to love for peter and I’m supposed to get the wicked cocoa chocolate but I pressed a button and now I can’t find it. Where can I find it? Or is it gone forever?

If you won it…check your inventory. It usually pops up in the game once you’ve collected all 50 hearts.

Glad they updated the timer, not so glad they made it so you can’t get items for ida until the timer starts. When you work 8 hour days it’s hard to check in often enough, and getting things ahead of time made it more plausible.
That being said tinyco has been good at fixing drop rates that are too extreme.
Theres two ways a freemium game company can make money. 1 is to charge for everything and frustrate people into buying. Good short term, bad long term as players leave. 2 is to make players not feel like they ever need to spend money to enjoy the game. Happy players like to shop. Guess which one is EAgames and which one is TinyCo 🙂

It seems that when I opened my game that I had twice as many as spawned couples. I had more time, but it wouldn’t let me click on the remaining ones. I thought that couples switched between Love and Hate, or are half of them Love and half of them Hate? It seemed after I clicked on all the Love couples and I still had some time, the message said you clicked on all the PDA couples. Not quite sure what’s happening. Any help?

I don’t know if anyone else has mentioned this yet, but if you go to a friends town and click on the stuff in their Vday event area, it lists what the other bench characters will be and the names of the buildings that aren’t open yet.

they really should give a hint at what the next prizes will be because once you unlock Peters you come to a stand still.. I went love on the first 2 so do i keep collecting love? what if i collect 50 and then the prize is announced and i want the hate prize.. I’m now -50 in the hole. If we don’t collect which is really what you have to do unless you wanna gamble, then theres a lot of wasted time going on atm where we could be earning. thats gonna become a real disadvantage once the prizes start requiring hundreds of hearts each.

I get they don’t wanna make it too easy but the type of “challenge” there giving us isn’t really a fair one. if they wanted to challenge us just increase the number of hearts required while giving us an idea of what the prizes are gonna be so we can play accordingly. I haven’t clicked any couples in almost 3 days now because theres no point until we see what were playing for.

Get 3 extra love hearts or 3 extra hate hearts every 4hrs by simply doing one of Arnold’s tasks before or after you do the 3 min couple search.
You choose which task to do for whichever hearts you want but it helped me to get the love prizes quicker by giving me 3 extra love hearts after each couple run.
Hopefully, towards the end of the event we might be able to buy the prizes we didn’t get like the hate ones for me. Maybe Tinyco, maybe?

A couple follow-up thoughts:
– The floating red/purple heart animations are a solid improvement, so thank you, Tiny Co! The increased visibility is useful on my iPad Mini, and it’s super-useful when I play on my cell phone (because of the smaller screen).
– I also took the advice of removing most of the roads in my town, save for a small patch of streets far away from any tall buildings. INFINITELY BETTER. I don’t have to hunt the couples down anymore–they’re all right there. Now I can just focus in on which color I want. And once I’ve got them all, the rest disappear. Far less annoying than the initial set-up. Thank you again to Alissa and Bunny!! Keep up the great work!! 😀

Has anyone started Ida yet? Is she difficult after you have the self love tunnel but not handsome Peter? I’m afraid to wait too long to unlock her and then have her stacked with next weeks new characters.

Started Ida asap and I’m halfway done with her and handsome peter.
I just got tunnel of self love today. The action with handsome peter to help get Ida isn’t necessary as long as you keep using Bruce and have clammy secrets (quaqmires love prize)

I have and the drop rates don’t seem to be as advertised. Some of the items are earned from character tasks that drop other items (brewery or peter), so it’s taking forever to get what I need.

It’s not bad so far. From what I can tell, Handsome Peter only helps with the military badges which have a common drop rate (I still don’t have him, but I’m close!). I already have the Beach Body Gym which also drops them and in less than a day I have over half of what’s needed. The Hormone Pills are the only tough ones which Handsome Peter doesn’t seem to help with. But Clammy Secrets occasionally drops those if you got it.

Hi. Just got Handsome Pete and started the timer on Ida. I also have collected 10/50 hearts for the 2nd love price. Now… I really need Arnold but you say he is not available for purchase until completion of Beautiful People Part 9. Part 8 is a quest to collect 15 from Couples. Issue here is that going after Love Couples only I collect just 3-5 per spawn. I can probably get around 10 per spawn if I tap Couples randomly. What is your advice: stick to the Love Couple collection and finish part 8 late or go for any Couple with the chance to be set back on the love price? Appreciate your tips on this….

At least 8 of each spawn every time, so you can get 15 pretty quick. I’d just keep going with your collection choice. We won’t know new prizes til next phase. Or…you can tap them all then just collect opposite to cancel out the others.

Don’t know if anyone has mentioned this yet but there are a few characters that have 24hr tasks that earn Homemade Valentines, Cleveland, Francine Smith, Freddy Krueger, John McClane, and Gene Simmons.

Why don’t the couples have different appearances? They walk for a long time then you have to wait like 30 seconds for them to stop kissing and show hearts.

How come there isn’t a countdown timer for couple releases? I’ve seen this for earlier events, am I just missing it?

There’s not a timer at all for spawning characters. Never has been. Only for ones popping out of portals or event areas.
Just set one or more of your characters on a task as close to if not 3hrs exact to help you keep track.

Any tips on which hearts to collect AFTER you’ve got Peter and Quagmires love/hate prize?

It’s hard to say, you SHOULD keep collecting. But I don’t know which prize will be which next go round. So it’s hard to say. If Love continues to be buildings then that’s the best way to go, but it’s hard to say if TC will switch it up next time around.

Yes, but what happens if you have collected 100 red hearts when the update comes and all the item-dropping buildings are on the purple side? You would have to work twice as hard to get that first purple heart prize. The collections numbers can’t be that significant since the counter resets to zero after you collect a prize. I am avoiding the whole task until Thursday. Next week, however is a different story. I HAVE TO have Meg’s skin. I will be all about banking red hearts after I collect the fourth item. I don’t care what the red heart item is in the fifth spot and what is on the purple side. I am taking it and making sure I get Meg’s skin.

The trouble is, if we keep on collecting Love hearts and we get enough to unlock the prize once it’s revealed, they might switch the “good” prize to the Hate side, and it will automatically buy the wrong prize before we can choose which side we want. We don’t know the prizes, and we don’t know how many hearts will be needed.

I was wondering if anyone was talking about this. I got the 2 love buildings so far but now I’ve decided to start collecting broken hearts. I should have a fair amount by Thursday so I hope my gamble pays off.

If you collect hearts and you get to make it to get the winning item you won’t be able to get the hate item so you have to choose the item you want ib each character… Sorry for bad English thanks

Some general observations, I play this on IOS:
My star tab was always missing after the start of the event, but appeared yesterday and is still there?
Not sure why so many players are still having problems over the couples, the latest animation fix makes it easy to pick the right ones
I’m averaging about 90 minutes between couple spawns not the advised 3 hours, which does make it easier
Following other players advice, I’ve removed all roads except for a small square patch down by the trees and water. I’ve no buildings within it and it does make it much easier to collect the couples
