Hey there Minions!
Phase 2 of the Romancing the Clam Event just dropped into our silly lil games. With it a LOT of cool new stuff and features. One of those very features includes sending Characters on “Dates”. Well, here to help break it all down for you.
First off, in order to be able to send Characters on dates you will needed to be to “My Funny Valentine” Part 1 and have completed the repair of the Morning Arousal Coffee.
HOW DO I SEND THEM ON A DATE?
This will be triggered in one of two ways…
You will get a prompt in the questlines to initiate a date… this is done by the usual way.
Go to the Characters task list and select the option to send them on a date.
You can also just tap on Morning Arousal Coffee and initiate the date from there.
HOW DO I SELECT A CHARACTER?
You will be able to select a total of TWO Characters to go on a date. The First Character once selected will appear in the box on the Left. If you decide to change your mind on them, just tap the X in the top right corner of the picture of the Character.
YOU CAN ONLY CHANGE THE FIRST CHARACTER!!!
Once you pick the first one, make your selection of a Second Character for a date. This can NOT be changed, so choose wisely. As soon as the Second Character is picked, the timer will start on the date and you either have to speed it up or wait for it to time out to start another one. (FYI, the initial Hint did NOT change in either location)
WHAT DO I GET FOR THE DATES?
If it turns out the Date was a Good Date, you will get Love Hearts.
If it turns out the Date was a Bad Date, you will get broken Hearts.
There will also be chances for other things too. Some combinations will produce more of the Hearts than another grouping. If you have a Special Combination, you can even get Materials, Decorations, and Buildings among other Rewards.

As you can see, you can win Materials and Clams too. Keep in mind though, you can only win the Clams ONCE. Next time you will only get the Heart Prize. Materials will vary on WHO you are collecting for.
CAN I SEND THE SAME CHARACTER ON TWO DATES?
Just as in the game, you can NOT send a Character to perform more than one task at a time. So if you want to send the same Character on a Date with a different Character, you will have to wait until they are done.
WHAT ABOUT A DATE IN THE PARK?
This is a side option and will be up to YOU to choose to take this route. A questline “A Walk To Remember” will trigger the option for you to repair the Romantic Thoroughfare” for 200 Clams. Again, this is optional.
UPDATE: TinyCo did confirm that if you purchase this, you will have a version of it for your town that you can keep once the Event is over.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE PARK AND THE COFFEE SHOP DATES?
Dates in the Morning Arousal Coffee will consist of mostly basic Characters and take 4hrs to complete.
Dates at the Romantic Thoroughfare will consist of more Premium Characters and take 2hrs to complete.
WILL THE PRIZES IN THE PARK BE DIFFERENT?
Yes. Again, the pair you pick will determine the Reward.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I ALREADY MATCHED A COUPLE?
There is a really cool tell tell sign in the game to let you know who you already matched and what the results were. Just select the First Character then scroll through the others.
You will see a Red Heart with an Arrow through it if the date was Good and awards Love Hearts. 
You will see a Knife stabbed through the Purple Heart if the date was Bad and awarded Hate Hearts. 
A more detailed and complete list of all the matches is coming up, so keep an eye out for it.

Is there a page that tells you the answers to the hints? I just got one saying, “If love were a popularity contest, this would be an unlikely match.” At first I thought the answer would be Chris and Connie, but then I thought it might be Peter and Meg. Anybody know the answer to that one?

Is there anyone who hasn’t had this start for them yet? I keep wondering when I’ll be prompted for Phase 2, but there are no prompts. I just keep having to send gorgeous Peter to perform the gun show or some other mundane thing. Shouldn’t a specific Phase be automatically prompted?

Is it worth repairing the throrughfair? I got clams for Valentine’s Day, so I did get Arnold, and a few other things. I have 250 clams left. I am torn on repairing it, or waiting to see if there is another premium character for 250 coming. What would you ladies do if this was the last of your clams for a long while?

Do you get the prize every time? Or is it just the 1st date you send them on? Plus is there other prizes that we don’t know about? Till we mix & match and send them on dates. Do the clues actually do anything if u match the right characters? I was sending Barbara and Carter on dates over and over and nothing changed I just got the 5 red hearts

I am unfortunately affected by the lois/ nerd squatter bug, the from the answer they gave me off sounds like I just won’t be able to send lois on dates until the squatters are clear.
Kinda really stinks since I can’t do that until. I unlock stewie… which will be for a while. 😦

No she’s free but doesn’t even have it as an option for her. Maybe because I have wizards yet? It’s taking forever for me to get stewie so I hope that’s not why. I can’t get the Peter and Lois item if I can’t make them date. Help

That was the next question. If you have the Wizard Nerds in your town there was a BAD glitch that would have shut your game down, so they had to disable Lois for those players while they work on it. Hang in there. They’ll work to get it fixed.

Hello! This is my first post so I’d like to thank you for a very helpful blog. Now for my question… I was wondering if you have anymore information about the Lois dating bug? I have the nerds walking around my town and have built Mid Life Crisis Lois, but I do not have the quest to clear the nerds yet. So I am worried about trying to send Lois on any dates because I don’t know if the bug applies to me or not.

What is with the hint? Do we have to start off with Peter and Lois?? or can anyone start? Does the initial hint change after you have sent the correct set of characters on their date?
Also, you may want to enhance the prize grid – some of the prizes earn valentines – the Brewhaha Carnival Ride does.

How am I supposed to get the Fire Hazard Bed prize if they’ve disabled Lois from going on dates? Also, do you have to send people on a date that match the hint in order to get the prize or can you still get a prize by sending whoever you want to work on?
Then when it comes to the prize of Brookfield Insane Asylum will the prize give out Valentines, because I have it from the Halloween event and it doesn’t give out Valentines.
Jesus and Peter give 1 Hate Heart and Peter says, “Uh oh! This date’s like a pair of school pants after an unexpecting punch to the belly.” I thought I would get Love Hearts for it.

CRAP! They took away the Rite of Passage tower clam glitch! 😦 Wish I had caught onto that sooner. I was only able to get 30 clams from it. DANG IT!

Is anyone else having graphics errors when viewing the Valintine’s Day section in their Quahog? The images jitter and if there’s a pop-up window I can’t close it because the hit box also moves. I think the problem has to do with Ida. I haven’t unlock her yet (2 Handbags to go) and when near her that’s when it acts up.

Okay, I narrowed it down. The graphics glitch happens when I send characters on dates. I finished Herbert and Chris and once the were released it stopped.

Usually when I see a graphics glitch in a game, it is due to a memory drain/lag issue. In other words TOO much going on in the game.

That doesn’t look to be the problem. It looks like the code or image that’s suppose to appear to indicate characters are in the building is screwed up. I also sometimes get the scrambled image instead of the jittery screen as the other person stated.

I get what you’re saying. I’m letting you know odd things like that happen when a LOT is going on in a Game. Lots of actions and animations drawing memory in the game. You start getting texture glitches. See it all the time in the other game too. Still report it though.

For the quest to send Peter and Lois on a date, I only sent Peter with Meg and it finished the quest. I didn’t have to do Lois.

So each prize is 50 clams because you pay 200 to unlock. I guess that’s not that bad but I rather save my clams for something else they might release.

I agree, on all counts. 50 clams a prize isn’t bad but there is nothing there, so far, I really want to spend 50 clams on.

Normally I would agree (I’m not big on spending clams for decorations–I think I’ve only bought 1 aside from ones won in mystery boxes) but the Thoroughfare dates also give you hearts and quest items you need to unlock Glenda and/or Cheryl.
I’m hemming and hawing over buying it myself, but just wanted to throw out there it’s not just about the decos–there are other benefits if you’re really into earning the other prizes (like I can see it potentially being very useful to unlock Hot Meg at the end of the event).
I’m talking myself into it, LOL.

I’m pretty bummed about the ratio of hate to love, particularly on the thoroughfare. I figured the clams would be worth it since I have all of the premium characters too, but not if you’re after love hearts. Hate hearts won’t do me any good this round, as I have the insane asylum already. So boo, TinyCo. And I did email them to tell them what I thought 🙂 I do like all the prizes, I was just hoping for more love hearts for random matchups.

I love the concept and creativity behind the premium park option, but it’s a bit too rich for me for 3 decorations that will go straight to inventory. The glasshouse looks wonderful though, just not 200 clams wonderful! It would have been fun to send the extra characters on a date and, assuming the material drops are guaranteed, a good way to collect stuff quickly. More interesting than buying just a skin to drop stuff anyway.

I really like the concept and creativity behind it as well IMO, this type of method is much better than buying a Mystery Box. I like that it allows the user more control over what prize they will actually end up with.
