  3. I urge everyone who took time to comment here about the price of the skin being extortion to send Tiny CO. An in game msg. So they can forward players thoughts on the the team that determined the cost. I did and while it won’t make a difference right now it may in the future.

P.S. they told me Seamus will be unlocked by collecting items.

  4. Pure coincidence, but I found it quite fitting to see the South Park episode “Freemium is not Free” to premiere on German TV just as the obvious target of its critique seems to become exceedingly greedy…

  5. Skins should not be so much!! They should be less the 100 they really taking the
Fun out of this game now once my clams are gone I’m not buying any more sorry I love this game and spend lots of time on and have spent lots of money on it but they just gone too far now.. This skin won’t be used ever again when this event has finished and the prizes in the mystery box are quite lame too 😦

    • I’m with u Sean…. I’ve spent loads & loads on this game since the beginning. Tinyco are really starting to take the P**s now. In the last 3 months I’ve spent over £652…., I checked by bank statement yesterday and I was shocked. No more clam purchases for me! I dread to think what I’ve spent in the last year?? 🙀

  6. I can’t remember but is this the first time a premium was put in Al’s? That was the frustrating part for me. He showed up in AL’s like I would be able to earn him, but with no resource requirements. I thought there was a glitch in the game. And it had even said in the game that you could earn resources to unlock him (I understand that wording is going to be changed but that seems like and afterthought). I don’t care if they choose to make something premium (I didn’t buy tux Brian and have promptly forgotten that was and option) and I don’t complain about not being able to get premium characters or skins, but this seems exceptionally mishandled and almost like they thought they were going to do it one way then changed their minds (again not complaining, their game their right, but it is frustrating as a player).

  7. I guess if TinyCo wanted feedback on there prices they sure got it here. Curiosity…was there a lot of why why why when the tuxedo brian skin or muscle stewie released?

  8. I too was disappointed that the Brian skin costs so much. Yes I will probably end up buying it (and might be more inclined to buy it if they had a special offer on clams that include a bundle of gas cans or axes as those type of offers are usually when I buy more clams and spend them.) Brian and Stewie are my favorites so I like to have all their skins, so I’ll porbably buy it but 200+ clams is a little steep for a skin with limited actions.

One suggestion would be to copy what they did with Jesus at Christmas and make these expensive premium skins pay out 2 or 3 clams after every X number of task hours. That way people would feel like they could eventually earn their investment back AND be more willing to continue using the skins after the event ends.

  9. Not spending clams to get this skin seems like greed to and it’s not a new character I have purchase all the premium charters but will not spend that kind of amount on a skin just like the previous skin no way !!!!!!

It’s completely understandable that TinyCo needs (and wants) to make money and yes, not EVERYTHING can be free, but it is a little unfair to make it seem like Brian will be earnable only to find he isn’t.
Obviously, they made Brian premium, ‘cos let’s face it, many people like him and who would pay for Seamus? Anyone? Sorry Seamus!
However (and it has been said MANY times before), 210 clams?? Sometimes less is more and if he were 100 – 150 maybe more people would buy him (OR buy a couple o’ clams to purchase him with). I have 340-ish and I love the skin, but no thanks. The way things are going, I might not even get Seamus so no 25 clams return. Alternatively, make the clam return higher, like 50 instead of 25 clams.
Even if he were earnable, people could still buy him out-right if they wanted. (I think… There is a “complete now” button or summat in Al Harrington’s for earnable characters / skins, right? If not they should add one.)
It’s the “instant gratification” curse again. Get everything right away, this instant. If the drop rate is decent, it isn’t a problem earning skins / characters and people don’t get so frustrated.
Anyway, sorry for the length and rant-e-ness.

    • We get it. We do. Alissa and me were just discussing this same scenario at lengths. Upping the Payback on Clams Collection just a bit to help. 😉

And rant/vent away all you need on the What the Deuce. We know people need a place to get things out of their system. It is why we make them and leave them open always. So anytime day or night you need it… feel free to hop on a What the Deuce and “soapbox” away. 😉

Hehe thanks. I think I ranted myself out! I might (well prob not) buy the skin IF I get Seamus (sea mouse!) otherwise it’s (even more) way too expensive. I never bought clams, but at least watching free vids work.
Anyway, it’s not the end of the world, just upsetting because, apart from anything else, you won’t get to clear super adorable mini firemen dalmatian puppies from your town. How cute would they have been?? Especially if you could have got one in the Rupert gift box thingy.

  11. I found that they have gone way overboard on the costs. I’M a premium playre, lots of cams spent but no way I’m going to spend $10 bucks on a skin. I feel like greed has won out and I don’t think I’ll be playing much longer. The Star Trek event while great just required too much time devoted to the game. I do try to have a real life as well and logging into a game ever 2-4 hours is not part of it. 😉

  12. Oh come on….. clams for a skin??? Almost the same price as a premium character on the star trek event and not even a character from the TV series. I am now officially a free player having been a compulsive premium player. Money staying very much in my pocket from now on. Shame as I used to very much enjoy this game. 😦

  13. I’m seriously thinking about buying it. I didn’t spend that much on the ST Event, and I think a regular character skin is more fun for me on my collection; However, I realize it is going to be useless after the event. I’m completely aware of that.
My biggest issue about it is that for a premium skin is quite underdeveloped…TinyCo is neglecting the quality of its animations and options… Just like Steroid Stewie, and New Year’s Brian, those skins should have at least 3 animated tasks, something worth watching for their price. Watching them doing something funny is the only thing left for those skins once their events are over.

  14. Not sure whether to pick him up or wait to see if there is a clam deal for gas cans, maybe… Seems like a typical action tinyco has.
Also wondering when Seamus will pop up. Hoping he’s not a premium too. Want to save as many clams I can for next month!

  15. Hey everyone,
I agree that Brian’s skin is too expensive but I haven’t seen anyone complain about 150 clams for the 4th and 5th fire poles. I thinks that’s crazy. It shouldn’t be so difficult to play freemium. I feel the same way about unlocking workers. They shouldn’t make such a basic part of the game cost real money. I understand they have to make money but it’s not fun when you feel like you have to spend money. They are basically saying if you spend money the event will be easier and if you don’t spend money, no matter how much you play you prob won’t get much out of the event. I want to love this game but tiny co makes it hard to love. Thanx and have fun.

    • I did not bother to complain about it, I just did not buy them. Nor did I buy the Fire Chief. People did not complain so much about them because it is normal operating procedure, to offer a clam way to get things done faster. More poles, more firemen, etc. The Brian skin however does not make your game faster, it is not a new character that is linked to a firefighting episode, plus, it was made to look like something you could craft, but turned out to be a clam purchase.

  16. Totally understand the business reasons behind it, but after the original text on the Fire Chief screen it was disappointing to see Brian come up as Premium. Especially when he’s part of a FaceSpace set with Chris and Seamus! Bang go my hopes of completing that set – even at 185 clams (210 less the FaceSpace payback) I still can’t justify the cost for a skin.

  17. I really don’t understand the constantly repeating complaint that the skins or characters are ‘useless’ after the event. Has there been many times a skin has been useful after an event, weather premium or not? What you are paying for is help during the event as well as a new skin with tasks to keep forever. If they happen to be useful in a future event that’s just a bonus.

  18. I agree with Stevelew628 – I have been building up tons of cash – squishing in loads of items into reducing space (yes more land please!) all the items that don’t earn get stored, over 40+ characters just get 24 hour continual tasks now – just such a waste of time and to shell out clams on a skin that won’t get used in a week is farcical. I don’t have enough earnt in either of my towns and won’t be spending any readies to buy more to get Brian.
Star Trek had good points but was very stressful – missed out on a lot of things due to having to work (how irritating), went on too long and now just has a load of extra randoms to max up – then also put on 24 hours.
Definitely losing my interest here. But thanks again for all the work and tips from the team there – you guys are awesome!

  20. Not to be rude but I sometimes wonder if Tinyco has anyone with a basic business degree over there. Just saying per example that charging 200 clams for something small like a skin may get 10% of its customers to pay whereas charging 100 could get anywhere from 25% – 40% to pay making a much better profit and keeping its customers higher up on the satisfied scale. I also wonder if they have forgotten the random small free events that they used to have between big events and districts kept that pay to play vibe down in the past (I have a ton of things that were free originally that they resold later for clams …Cleveland, Rupert…) It was these things that helped me rationalize when I did spend clams. My group of friends and I are all way premium players with the income to do so but when this came out yesterday we all were like no way in messages sent to each other. Honestly it would of been more fun to earn him with items..just buying him does nothing in this case

    • This is one of the best comments I’ve ever seen! My husband and I would almost certainly pay out for the Brian skin if he was 100 clams – my daughter and get husband said the same. That’s 400 clams right there just by making the price reasonable. 400 clams and 4 happy customers! We’d probably pay 20 clams to unlock a pole too – definitely no more. Yes, the game has to pay for the developers but look at games like World of Warcraft or Runescape which have regular massive updates and only cost £5-£10 a MONTH and can be played continuously, ie, not having to be “set off” and then left alone for a few hours. Some people are paying that a week to play this game – it’s crazy. I really believe that lower prices would mean more revenue for TinyCo overall and happier players.

  21. Stevelew628 I feel the same way. I spent all my time unlocking the third firefighter only to find I have to spend 135 clams. Its turning more and more into a pay game than the fun I started out with over a year ago. Almost ready to delete the whole thung.

    • Just wanted to add this just to make sure you got this info from the main posts…. You only have pay 135 Clams to if you want the Fire Chief, but as I am looking at the other options you don’t HAVE to get him. The Fire Captains work just fine. It will depend only on your Jaws of Life drops and how many of those items in the Mystery Boxes you REALLY want. Right now it is the ONLY thing the Hats and Jaws are needed for. Everything else is earnable without Clams. 😉

Just don’t want anyone wasting Clams unless they really want those Mystery Box items.

  22. I like the fact that this event has it where you can spend money on stuff. I outright built all of the new buildings that were available, and bought several of the fun animated objects. No clams spent yet as I’m a big tightwad on those 😉 Tho I do want Brian…still considering…wish could earn instead.
BUT this event is allowing for a lot more to be purchased with coins, which is great.

  23. I’m seeing both sides to this, and I can understand both to a degree. In my case, I WANT to spend clams, I really do. But the prices I see make me stop and question every purchase, and when I weigh it out it typically doesn’t make sense. So, I suck it up and pass on the deal. Then I forget all about it because the characters never make an appearance again anyway.

I have to wonder how much TinyCo would make if their prices were lower- it would be so much easier for so many players to bite on an impulse buy if they weren’t spending everything they had on each purchase. Are the whales really driving their profits that much? If so, I guess I’m looking forward to missing out on a lot of cool items that I’m not willing to pay so much for. Unfortunately, it’s starting to take away from the enjoyment of the game more and more every time it happens.

  24. Ok people, we can stop beating this brain damaged horse.

TinyCo will realize if people don’t buy the skin, that it is too expensive and then change their pricing model.

  27. As someone who delves into premium character purchases occasionally at the beginning of this mini event I thought TinyCo had finally got it, here they were bringing us a 2 week event with 3 characters skins to collect, good drop rates and a necessity to only spend clams if you are in a rush. I thought this looks like an easy going event where you don’t need to be constantly in the game grinding away or spend any clams, a nice thank from TinyCo you to all the players who took part in the time and clam intensive Star Trek event. Well that theory bit the dust with the release of Brian for clams, I’m not too bothered as I wouldn’t pay more than 75 clams for any skin so buying Firedog Brian isn’t on my radar, but I think after Star Trek we needed TinyCo to pull back a little and this event looked like an attempt to do that and we were starting see little goodwill and positive comments on the game again, something we haven’t seen for a while. The clam charge for Firedog Brian has shot that goodwill down in flames, not a wise move by TinyCo when they are already plugging another big event is starting in June. Surely with Star Trek in April and whatever is coming in June, a little event in May where clam spending wasn’t necessary to complete wouldn’t have killed them, as I cannot see anything in this event that would cost TinyCo licensing fees etc.

We know TinyCo are making money, after all late last year they were able to absorb a $450,000 fine, if they were still a small struggling developer, financially that would have killed them. I’m not saying they shouldn’t make money, far from it, I bought clams during the Star Trek event as I appreciated there would have been massive costs to use that brand, but what I’m saying is not every single event needs to cost, after all a nice way to say thanks to your loyal clam purchasers is a little freebie event every now and then. A little goodwill goes a long way sometimes.

  28. My main gripe with the game now is that there are very few useful items/building/characters that come out that cost in game money. I have over $2,000,000 and nothing to spend it on. Maybe an event or something that you could actually spend the money on would be useful. I have decimated my town as I was just getting too much money, with no real benefit. I am the max level and most of my characters are in storage as they are maxed out as well.

I wouldn’t be trying to spend that money so fast remember the last time we had land expansion and how expensive it was

    • They literally just released like five buildings and as many decorations for in game money. I think there was only one clam building. Last weeks event had at least five buildings/decos for in game money

Me too! I cleared my town and threw all characters in storage, and all I have out now are the items they WON’T let you store (the Wonka factory, which GRIPES ME, and the weird stewie that does nothing and won’t go away), and fire stuff for the event. Remind me why exactly we have money?
