Tell TinyCo What You Thought Of The Battles For Supremacy

Hey Addicts it’s time to gather your thoughts….. I won’t give you a penny for them but I would appreciate hearing them. As I want to chat about the new game dynamic that was recently released, team battles.

Now that both battles have been and gone I wanted to ask you to share some feedback on what you thought of the battles. So please use the comments to tell us what you thought of the new feature, what you liked, what you didn’t like, what you thought of the Battle 2 changes and of course what you’d do different.

These were fierce but supposed to be fun, but Battle 1 had a bitter sweet ending if you backed the losing team. However after feedback from that battle TinyCo immediately made some changes adding an additional way to win the Battle 2 main prize through a side Questline.

For me in Week 1 I looked at it as an extra, with a 50/50 chance of winning a new costume. I felt the odds were better than a mystery box and taking part cost me nothing. I could contribute or not to the totals and still have a 50% chance of a prize. In Week 2, I was delighted to see they increased the odds of winning a little by offering a 2nd way to win the prize, but this would mean playing more actively by clearing Paparazzi.  But for me the main point in the difference between the two battles was TinyCo listened and made the change very quickly.

I also like fact they are bringing new mechanisms in, even if they are from one of their other games, i think this is a good indicator the game has a future. This is good to know as over at our sister site TSTO Addicts there is a sense of doom as Tapped Out has had no new content in nearly 2 months and very little else in the 3 months that preceded those. Personally I think both games will continue but TinyCo/JamCity are treating their long term players a lot better than EA are at this time, as this shows they are listening even if they don’t always get things right.

But that’s enough about my thoughts, now it’s over to you. Oh and I’ll have the usual End Of Event poll and post up later for your general event thoughts, this is really to chat about the battle formats.

  1. I didn’t mind the competition. You didn’t really need to do anything to win something, and the basic prize for both winners and losers were clams, a good thing (not random deco). Get clams just for being there. Better than a mystery box I guess.
The change made for the second battle was a smart one in my opinion. If they repeat this feature and stick to reasonable numbers (not the original 300+) it’s a feasible second chance or plan B in case you pick the losing side. 100 paparazzi was a reasonable number. You needed 9 guns to clear them (getting 3 bombs per shot, and then 4 bad guys per bomb). And every part of the quest gave you a few clams, so it was worth trying to see how far you got anyway. I don’t remember another event that gave you so many free clams as this one. The only negative aspect that I see is that the characters who dropped guns were needed for other items, especially Quagmire with the uncommon autographs. But then again, it wasn’t compulsory to clear those bad guys.
As for the clams sets being incomplete if you chose the wrong side, it’s the same chance of getting them incomplete if you have terrible luck with drops and miss the last character, so not really a problem in my opinion. For example, I chose Marshmallow Team both times (because I like blue better than red; childish I know :p) so I got those two, but my autograph and bribe stuff drops were terrible, so I couldn’t get Joe. Nothing different than any other event.
Also, let’s admit it, we keep complaing that we don’t need extra outfits that are never used again. Now we can’t complain about not getting the extra outfit we’ll never use again lol 😛

  2. It’s luck of the draw based on which team you choose but I agree that free stuff is free stuff and that is the quest of the game afterall! 😁

If it were to be done again, the Grand Prize should be a decoration and clams. The losing team should get a lesser amount of clams. Then having a side questline that can earn you a character, whether or not your team wins like they did the second time, would get more people trying. However, any characters or tasks associated with the battle should have either nothing to do with the rest of the event or should at least not hinder. Example, not having to choose whether you are using a character to get Pistols to help in the battle or Money Bags to help in the main event portion. Or with the battle being based on clearing Paparazzi, as long as the Paparazzi are dropping things we need for the main event, the goals are in sync.

  4. Rather than having a “Team A vs Team B” battle where players have a 50/50 chance in winning the top prize, I would rather have a “collective” leaderboard where all players would get awarded the prize if they amass all together a total of 1,000,000 medals or trophies (for example) similar to 2016’s Xmas event where God was the final prize to claim if players have managed to amass 40 billion medals:

Yeah that’s how God made an appearance but to be fair there was lot complaining about it at the time as players thought targets were too high and such.

I didn’t like it. In my game the Bad Boys set remains incomplete only because the random team choice I made in part 2 was the wrong random choice. There’s no real challenge or satisfaction when success or failure is merely a random choice.

  6. Never got a chance to play it due to all these glitches since the end of March and the dumb I.T. peeps not smart enough to fix it.

I answered fully on your other comment but this glitch is nit a simple fix I’m afraid, hence time it’s taking to get a fix.

  7. I think there was a good and bad point too however in my case I felt the bad more.
I’m really happy that they didn’t just give the opportunity like you get the character or nothing but actually gave us “comfort prize”. But at the same time I don’t feel that it would be fair in any ways to have people who won both characters and who won nothing as well. Of course there was still the chance to clear 600 paparazzi….but…guys…seriously? Like a big juicy laugh in our faces would’ve been more appropriate.
Also this is my personal case but I’m the typical super pitifully unlucky person in my everyday life and I don’t want to be reminded of this even in my beloved game. I like to work for the prize not let my sh*tty luck decide instead of me…

  8. Didn’t like it. Bust your butt for a 50/50 chance.

  9. Definitely liked the second week better where I was in control of my own destiny. Glad they changed the number of paparazzi that needed to be cleared. Tough but not impossible and still able to work on the main questline. Also enjoying the extra opportunities to earn clams. Put me in a good enough frame of mind that once I got BBPeter I sprung for BBCleveland to complete the set.

  11. I am less than enthused at this new gameplay but am really disappointed that this was presented as “new” and “exciting”. I didn’t have to do anything different than I was doing before and my opportunity for ultimate success was based on luck of picking a side. It was far from “new” (we have tried leaderboard rewards in the past to less than positive results) and it was anything except “exciting”.

  12. It felt like a setup. The numbers jumped around pretty much every time I looked. For the record I was team marshmallow so I got both prizes, but still didn’t feel like an honest game.

  13. Who cares? Just ignore it (like I do all premium characters/costumes) and if you get a free one, good for you.

  14. It is a bit lame that this is what passes for new content after years of re-skinning the same handful of game mechanics over and over. At any rate, it is not terrible – considering that we get a reward even if we pick the losing side. Free stuff is free stuff…

If we are to expect this sort of thing happening more often, I do think that offering a challenge questline to earn the prize outright would keep all the pitchforks and torches to a minimum. The opportunity to work for an item is so much more gratifying (and so much more within our ability to control) than hoping that the team you have chosen completely at random comes out ahead. After all, a happy player is one that keeps coming back.

  15. So you actually think TSTO is going to continue? Do you know if they are planning to release any new content?

I don’t know anything regarding new content but I’d be surprised if the game were to end without a big finale. I think there’s a lot of glitches that are starting to spread throughout the game and my hope is some downtime will see those sorted. But I do think young forward things will be more sporadic than players are used to.

Please dont ever do this again. This was a horrible experience. And the changes in the 2nd battle to allow you to win the costume individually was a joke. You had to clear like 1k worth to get it.

No you didn’t need Over 1k, they adjusted the numbers, but you still needed clear almost 600. Which was a lot.
