The guys at TinyCo have given me a couple of peaks at the new feature that’s coming to a Quahog near you soon. If you don’t want to see them then move on to the next post.
Warning Spoilers Ahead!!!
Now there’s no word on exactly when this feature will be released into our games, but it will be soon, I’m hoping in the next week or two. And here’s how TinyCo describe it.
“Quahog Historical Society is a new feature that will open the opportunity for players to earn characters and skins from past events and complete their collections! Events will also offer an extra reward which will tie back to the feature!”

Seems like a naked money grab. From what I see, they are just making you buy MEDALS instead of clams. I don’t see any Freemium way to earn medals. Unlike clams, which can be purchased or earned, medals can only be purchased. Seems like the cheapest characters are $10 to $15. Is this a desperate Hail Mary to squeeze dollars out of the game in a way that doesn’t let players use clams they didn’t pay actual US Dollars for? Am I missing something here?

Nope there’s freemium ways to earn medals, but it’s been set up so players don’t rush through it unless they spend money. So play at a patient pace and you’ll not need spend anything.

Sorry if i’ve missed or misunderstood but is this going to be a long-term feature like Tan Lines or a one-off event style feature?
It seems good though and I’m looking forward to it.
Like in the last 4 days I’ve not even opened the app because the current event was over for me so I have no need to play. But if this was available I could have spent the last 4 days earning items or whatever is required to unlock missing characters.
Any news on what the earning requirement will be – Premium or Freemium, or perhaps a mixture of both?
I just really hope it’s not like that reward or stamp card crap they keep tacking onto recent events.

I think it will have a freemium slant and be available ongoing, I’ve not had any indications it will be timed so hopefully more in the view of Tan Lines

Can’t wait. This is my second time playing this game after losing it in a crash a couple of years ago. Will be nice to get some of those characters back.

Honestly this is a smart move for the team, this way it keep people busy so they don’t have to update the game every week with the little team they have ATM. the Halloween and recent quest made it obvious they losing team members for the more profitably Hogwarts game.

Will old buildings be available with this feature, or is it just characters and skins? I just started playing this year and there’s many buildings and decorations that I’ve seen that I don’t have and would love to get.
