Update 2/6 9:15 am EST: I know many of you are having issues with the PDA couples. They’re rough, I know. Here’s a tip that many readers have mentioned in the comments & something Bunny & I have found to work as well…Watch the limbs when they stop. If his leg goes up it’s a heart if her arm goes up it’s a broken heart. So make sure you’re watching when they STOP. And I know 2 minutes is rough to watch/tap…best thing to do if you think you need more time is send a request to TinyCo. We know they listen, so hopefully they’ll make an adjustment if enough people feel it’s needed. Good Luck!

A couple of initial observations…the snow is gone and Quahog is green again!
The event ends on February 26th. So it’s a shorter event…but still should be fun!

Like events of Tiny Quahog past…there’s an event district located in the top center of your Quahog. Here’s what it looks like:
Remember…you cannot move buildings/decorations inside of this area.
Tapping on the giant heart in the middle will bring up the Affection Meter.

What is the Affection Meter?
You can build either Love or Hate in the Affection Meter by shooing Enamored Couples (Hearts) or Angry Couples (Broken Hearts). When you reach one end of the Affection Meter, you’ll win a prize!
You can view the Affection Meter by tapping on the cupid’s big, illuminated heart.
The prizes for Love and Hate are different, so be sure to take a look at the Affection Meter page in the event hub for a list of prizes. You can only choose one!

The Couples
There are two types of couples…Fighting Couples and Enamored Couples. BUT they’re the exact same couple. What determines which heart you get is when you tap on them. You have to watch them closely…if he starts to dip her… you will get a love heart and they will start walking again shortly after… if she starts to yell at him…gotta be ready cuz she will slap him and you got to tap them between that yelling and smack to get hate heart. So pay attention to what they’re doing to make sure you get the right one.

So what’s the spawn rate? (again from TinyCo’s FAQ)
Couples will spawn every four hours. After they appear, these couples will only be available for two minutes. Shoo them away before they get a room!
Remember when they appear you only have 2 minutes to clear them. A timer will appear in your game in the bottom right corner. Watch it to make sure you get them all before time runs out!

Game Currency
The Game Currency for this event is Valentines Cards. These will be used to purchase unique event items & unlock various characters (you’ll need them for Handsome Peter for example).
Various characters have Valentine earning tasks. We’ll cover who can do what in another post…but they are out there. You’ll also earn 25 Valentines each time you complete part of the questlines for the Event. And they’ll also drop from event themed buildings.
Handsome Peter
Finally Handsome Peter has arrived in Quahog! Here’s what you’ll need to create him:

7 Hot Wax (Rare)- Get From: Make Lois Freshen Up OR Make Jerome Play Darts OR Make Arnold Get a Checkup OR Get from Valentine’s Griffin House
Ida Davis
After you start Beautiful People Pt. 6 you’ll get the trigger for Ida Davis. My Fair Lady will start up. You’ll have to repair the Park Bench, which can be found in the Valentine’s Day Event Area. It takes 8hrs and costs 50 Valentines.
Now…IDA IS TIMED!!! You will have 5 days to unlock once you repair the bench. So don’t do it until you’re ready!
Here’s what you’ll need to unlock once ready:
12 Handbags (Uncommon)- Get from: Make Jerome Play Darts OR Make Herbert Be a Peeping Tom
12 Military Ribbons (Common)- Get from: Make Bruce Fret About Something OR Make Jake Tucker Eat Upside Down Kids Meal OR Get From Beach Body Gym OR Make Peter Put on a Gun Show

What About Arnold?
Arnold is supposed to be part of this phase of the event. He is premium (250 Clams) BUT i’ve yet to uncover how to get him. Per TinyCo’s FAQ:
After you start “Clams and Muscles Pt.1,” Arnold Schwarzenegger will become available to purchase in the shop (along with the Action Hero Jet 2600) for 250 clams.
TinyCo has changed the FAQ to show it’s now when Beautiful People ends. Will finish that up and let you know what I find out.
Update: Finally got to a point where I’m able to purchase Arnold. He comes with the Hero Jet, which earns Valentines.
Here’s the benefit to Arnold…he has TWO actions that drop hearts. (broken or regular) Each time you complete it you’ll get 3 hearts (I’m fairly sure it’s an always drop. I’ve done it 3 times and gotten hearts each time. Pretty sweet since each action is only 4hrs to complete!
I’ve completed all the questlines (except for Beautiful People, there’s a part where you’ll need to clear 8 PDA couples so I’m held up at that), unlocked Handsome Peter & Ida Davis…yet I still don’t see the option to buy Arnold. I’ve sent a message to TinyCo about it & will let you know what happens once I know.

As well all know by now, TinyCo likes to keep things fresh in the game during events by releasing new content every week. So we’ll see what the next update brings 🙂

I just got the option for a Valentine’s skin for founding fathers, 100 clams. Having a lot of trouble with the couples, I think I’m tapping when they will drop a heart but it still seems like a constant toss up. I played the brain box and got 150 clams the first time then quagmires bed the second. Those couples though geeeesh. They are going to be difficult!

Testing it out but from the wording… it resets once the prize is won then you can go for opposite, just be careful… once cancels out the other.

Is there a non-clam/quest related way to get v-day cards? And what’s with the first quest taking like 200cards to start…not showing a single character task for anything related to the new event other than Herbert’s task which is locked. Is it supposed to be like this or it it just a glitch-fest?

Everything looks cool so far except for those couples technique. Having only 2 minutes to find them on a game that crashes by merely watching the screen is ridiculous… tapping on them makes the game to crash… and only with the crashing-restarting process, there is no time to find them “AGAIN”…

Work on collecting cards & then go for Ida. You’ll need to get the Self-Love tunnel for Ida and it takes a lot of cards. Build those up and then repair the bench. In the mean time get Handsome Peter while you’re working on collecting cards

I am noticing on this event that I am not able to send tasks to earn the items for Ida ahead of time – will those tasks not pop up until after the build?

Exactly. You can’t start collecting until you “find her”. I recommend earning enough valentines to get the self love tunnel before you “find” Ida. That will most likely be the hardest task

Love how at the event start for me I ended up with mall santas and snowmen again. and I still get hoilday cheer icons now and then. At least they all dropped V-day cards as well so I didn’t get boned out of cards.

Easier to see hat than love. Every time their hot an heavy get a broken heart. So I get five hates then several loves and next thing I know back to zero. Even when they are smooching it up I sometimes get a hat. Frustration on an android phone. Also is peter suppose to be in the costumes do not see him nor do the boys or anyone else capable of dropping cards? Am I missing something hit the update button and all. Got the screen tutorial just no Peter to earn???

Characters that had 24hr tasks that paid Holiday Cheer for the Christmas event (Mr. Weed, Predator, etc) now pay Valentines Cards AND Holiday Cheer during this event. Also, when PDA couples spawn in Quahog, 3 or 4 of them are snowmen. LOL I reported both issues to TinyCo already. 🙂

I’m a bit confused about the angry and enamored couples. I made sure to tap on them while they were kissing and I still received broken hearts.
It would be a lot easier if they were either different color sets or not timed. Pretty frustrating since my vision is meh and having to zoom all the way in on each one takes time and so far doesn’t seem to even work for me.
(Meaning getting the correct hearts)

Looks like they messed up their support for soft buttons… Couples look exactly the same and you have no idea what “state” they are in unless you sit and watch… So far, weak. Not amused with this event.

How is the Memory space on your device? WiFi use? Many things can cause issues with loading the game. Memory and signal being number one.

Got a head start in the event. So far, only Peter, Joe and Quagmire can give you hearts in order to build something in this event so I’ll have to use them wisely.
Looks like a good event, I am a little disappointed that Ida is timed, but I did expect something to be timed. My only questions are how can we play matchmaker? I already came up with some good ideas for the Matchmaker part.

Hi Clammers! Thanks for the game update notice. I just started the Valentine event and there are 2 different couples that you can tap to earn either red heart or broken heart.
I just want to know if I need to focus on getting the red heart first or the broken heart so that I can claim the prize later.

The program is getting to huge to install on my tablet. With every update now I have to uninstall it to get the latest version. They need to streamline the program where all cached files are stored on a flash card while the main program is on the device.

Do you know anything about these couples? All of the couples in my game looked like the enamored couples, all of them were kissing and none of them were slapping, but some dropped hearts and some dropped broken hearts. Am I missing something?

Wow they really amped up the obnoxiousness of the walkers. Rather than annoying number of drones just walking all over your town, now you have to zoom in on each individual one, watch them, hope they don’t go behind a building, or risk losing them after a couple of minutes. What on earth was tinyco thinking?? I hope there are plenty of other ways to get hearts.

I downloaded the update, the game loaded as usual, but when I clicked on the “check out the Valentine’s Day event” action button, the game turned off. When I went to reboot the game, I had an error message pop up during the loading screen saying there was a problem loading the game. I can’t get past that. I’m going to email Tinyco with this tonight, just wanted to share…
