Update 2/6 9:15 am EST: I know many of you are having issues with the PDA couples. They’re rough, I know. Here’s a tip that many readers have mentioned in the comments & something Bunny & I have found to work as well…Watch the limbs when they stop. If his leg goes up it’s a heart if her arm goes up it’s a broken heart. So make sure you’re watching when they STOP. And I know 2 minutes is rough to watch/tap…best thing to do if you think you need more time is send a request to TinyCo. We know they listen, so hopefully they’ll make an adjustment if enough people feel it’s needed. Good Luck!

You can build either Love or Hate in the Affection Meter by shooing Enamored Couples (Hearts) or Angry Couples (Broken Hearts). When you reach one end of the Affection Meter, you’ll win a prize!
You can view the Affection Meter by tapping on the cupid’s big, illuminated heart.
The prizes for Love and Hate are different, so be sure to take a look at the Affection Meter page in the event hub for a list of prizes. You can only choose one!

The Couples
There are two types of couples…Fighting Couples and Enamored Couples. BUT they’re the exact same couple. What determines which heart you get is when you tap on them. You have to watch them closely…if he starts to dip her… you will get a love heart and they will start walking again shortly after… if she starts to yell at him…gotta be ready cuz she will slap him and you got to tap them between that yelling and smack to get hate heart. So pay attention to what they’re doing to make sure you get the right one.

So what’s the spawn rate? (again from TinyCo’s FAQ)
Couples will spawn every four hours. After they appear, these couples will only be available for two minutes. Shoo them away before they get a room!
Remember when they appear you only have 2 minutes to clear them. A timer will appear in your game in the bottom right corner. Watch it to make sure you get them all before time runs out!

Game Currency
The Game Currency for this event is Valentines Cards. These will be used to purchase unique event items & unlock various characters (you’ll need them for Handsome Peter for example).
Various characters have Valentine earning tasks. We’ll cover who can do what in another post…but they are out there. You’ll also earn 25 Valentines each time you complete part of the questlines for the Event. And they’ll also drop from event themed buildings.

After you start Beautiful People Pt. 6 you’ll get the trigger for Ida Davis. My Fair Lady will start up. You’ll have to repair the Park Bench, which can be found in the Valentine’s Day Event Area. It takes 8hrs and costs 50 Valentines.
Now…IDA IS TIMED!!! You will have 5 days to unlock once you repair the bench. So don’t do it until you’re ready!

What About Arnold?
Arnold is supposed to be part of this phase of the event. He is premium (250 Clams) BUT i’ve yet to uncover how to get him. Per TinyCo’s FAQ:
After you start “Clams and Muscles Pt.1,” Arnold Schwarzenegger will become available to purchase in the shop (along with the Action Hero Jet 2600) for 250 clams.
TinyCo has changed the FAQ to show it’s now when Beautiful People ends. Will finish that up and let you know what I find out.
Update: Finally got to a point where I’m able to purchase Arnold. He comes with the Hero Jet, which earns Valentines.
Here’s the benefit to Arnold…he has TWO actions that drop hearts. (broken or regular) Each time you complete it you’ll get 3 hearts (I’m fairly sure it’s an always drop. I’ve done it 3 times and gotten hearts each time. Pretty sweet since each action is only 4hrs to complete!
I’ve completed all the questlines (except for Beautiful People, there’s a part where you’ll need to clear 8 PDA couples so I’m held up at that), unlocked Handsome Peter & Ida Davis…yet I still don’t see the option to buy Arnold. I’ve sent a message to TinyCo about it & will let you know what happens once I know.

Couples too confusing and not enought tasks to earn valentines in an efficient manner without spending real money. Every event gets more and more of a money grab, more confusing, and less fun. BUT when you say a money grab I’ve got to disagree. Normally I’d say yea there’s a lot of items to blow through clams on, but with this event there isn’t a ton of clam items. And you can’t even use clams to do anything with the couples or the affection meter items. So when you say it’s a money grab I’m not sure which aspect you’re referring too with this event.

I am a big fan of every thing this game has done so far,(day 1 player), but right out of the gate this event seems to be a dud. 20 or so couples clicked and still sittin at zero. They look too similar and my town is too big to search all of them out and wait to see what they do all in 2 min? Waste of time. Also no good buildings or decos. Not normally a complainer against this game, but couldn’t help myself with this one. If it gets better I’ll eat my words…but so far ehh. On the other hand…. ARNOLD!!! Its NOT a RUMOR!! lol

For everyone struggling :
Like someone commented before. 10 couples spawn – 5 lovers and 5 haters. Which one they are is decided when they spawn not when you click on them.
Now to determine which is which – BOTH COUPLES KISS!
Loving couples kiss and then the man dips the woman and he raises his leg.
Hating couples kiss then they stop and the woman leans back and then slaps the man.
it doesn’t matter when you press them and you have to watch until they’ve finished kissing to be sure which type they are.
Stop being so impatient and just watch them!
Also like has been said before, once you have cleared 5 of one type of couple the remaining couples of the other type will disappear. 2 mins is enough time. Just!

Can you collect items for Ida before repairing the bench? If so, at what stage? I don’t even have the option to repair the bench but would like to plan ahead if possible!

I don’t believe so. You’ll need Ida unlocked before you can collect items. BUT you can build the Self Love tunnel before and it’ll count.

So far from my experience, it seems that couples walking around keep their previous love or hate “state” – so do watch for the dip or the slap and don’t risk tapping couples that walk around unless you saw their last dip or slap. They seem to keep that state of love or hate while walking around until they stop and dip or slap again.

My first thoughts on the event.
1) not part of the event but being able to click on the needed building in the quest menu and taken straight to it in the inventory is a great addition.
Pretty much the only good addition this event imo
2) the couples. I can tell them apart, but it takes way too long. I followed a couple around for about 30seconds before I just gave up and clicked on them (murpheys law, wrong one haha). You only have 2 minutes to find 5! Thats simple if you tell the difference, but boring and based on luck if you have to wait for ages. Just think they should have made them different even if it was just different colour clothes, something.
3) you should never make people choose between 2 things and not give the option for both. Especially in a game like this, why?
If someone only wants the building, they’ll get the building and move on. They wont be happier because they had to make a choice, they’d be just as happy as if they had got both. (Even if they just put the deci in their inventory)
However, the person that wants both will be unhappy no matter what choice they make. Also some people WILL regret their choices later on 100% guaranteed.
I just dont get why they have done it. Its a meh-lose situation, I dont see how they can win, Unless they put the the other thing up in a mystery box for clams at the end which would be a s****y move imo.
The christmas+halloween events where great, the new additions this event are pretty bad (in my opinion if course) I dont see how they’ll add to the event scheme in anyway.
I thought the couples would be like Santas list but they’d just give you a picture of lois and you have to find the right match for her by making her go on a ‘date’ (joined 4 hour task for instance) with anyone and if its a match (example: One of the kiss members or peter) you get the prize and move on to the next character.
You could even add to that and give 5/10 clams if you complete a persons list of matches. (They could give a ‘riddle’ to who it is too).
Thats what I was expecting and I think would have made a better addition than the couples+affection thing. If they wanted people walking around: Cupids that drop valentines cards.
Could even do funny ones like for Chris have Herbert and Meg as 2 options 😛
Anyway I have started to ramble haha. I dont think the whole event is bad though, because I do like Ida so cant wait to unlock her. Wonder what the rest of the event will bring haha.

They roam around the streets and can be hard to see. Try hard closing and restarting your game, just in case they’re not appearing for that reason.

Hi Bunny and Alissa, I just wanted to ask you a quick question. Since the Valentine’s Day update I’ve noticed that Phineas does not have a voice anymore (Barnaby and the other characters still have voice). I was wondering if either of you are experiencing this aswell, or is it a glitch I have?

None of my characters have valentines actions and Peter doesn’t show up at Als… Do I have to go through a couple quests to get that stuff?

My characters do not have tasks to earn Valentines. I have reloaded and restarted the game, and still no way to earn Valentines. Besides contacting them (it usually takes them 3 weeks to respond to my questions), what else do you suggest I do?

Dear Clamers, is it just me, or do your lovers take AGES to finally stop walking and start kissing/slapping?
Within the period of two minutes, it’s really hard to know which couple to tap, as they just keep walking, walking and walking.
I even shortened my roads, but they boldly continue!

Based on the chances to get valentines, clams or valentine producing items from the Cupid Brian Box, I chose to take a punt. The two items I DID NOT want at all were the non-valentine producing items: Holderdowner 5000 and the Perennial Pervmobile. After two tries (150 clams), guess what I got? Yup – the only two items I did not want. Go Figure…

The FAQ has already changed. You get Arnold AFTER the Beautiful People Quest. Which according to the Vajmire page has AT LEAST 10 parts.
SO, what the deuce withe the Arnold task in People Part 6? 5 full quests before Arnold is purchaseable?!?

Oh nooo!!! I just made a long post to ask a few questions and when I clicked to comment, it said, “Sorry, this comment could not be posted.” Let me try again.
I’m having a problem with the couples that it seems others are having. I’ve clicked on some couples that were obviously enamored, the man is holding the woman and they are kissing. I click and get a broken heart. Is this a glitch?
Is there any way to get information on the prizes that we can win with the Affection Meter? Like, for Peter, I can see that the Wicked Cocoa Chocolatier is a building … but have no idea if the Cool Your Jets Hot Tub is going to be a building or just a decoration.
Also, any idea if Facebook friends will be involved in any way in this event? It’s nice to be able to get a little extra of the event currency when they have that set up.
I had a few other things that I had asked, but I cannot remember at all. Oh well. I’m super excited for this event. I’m right at the end of what I have left for District 10, so this is great timing to get started on something new. 😀

Let’s work backwards with these….
-Facebook Friends. No word yet, maybe at a later phase or maybe not at all. I think Christmas was the trial run and it had a lot of issues. So they might skip it for this event.
-Affection meter prizes. We’re still trying to earn them ourselves…once we do info will be up. 🙂
-Couples. It’s going around. You have to watch REALLY close. When he dips her you’ll get the heart, when she hits him you’ll get the broken heart. Anytime between that is a toss up.

Thanks for the thorough update. This site has definitely become my number one resource for Family Guy info.
Can you please let the Tiny Co folks know that it’s fairly difficult (and rather annoying) to distinguish between the enamored couples and the angry couples? It was confusing initially because they looked exactly the same. Now it’s pretty irritating that I have to watch each couple to see what their animation is (especially when they duck behind a tall building so I can’t see them at all).
I’ve been playing this game consistently since I got started last summer, but this event… I don’t know if it’s just me, but the mechanic of having to stare at identical-looking characters and figure out what they are doing is a big turn off.

If the stay together when they stop they’re in love, if they break apart, move on to the next one.
The loving couples stay in continuous hold. I’ve tapped a few of the ones who’ve stopped and not disengaged (before he lifts his foot) and been lucky enough to get the red hearts.

I’m gonna miss my snowy Quahog… Seeing all that wonderful snow almost made me forget that it’s summer here and most days are unbearable since in Brazil summer just means the insanely hot season that follows the unbeliavably hot season and preceeds the “how the hell is it still hot?” season, and then there’s “winter” somewhere in between.
But I digress. Thanks for all the great info as usual, but I have one question: does Beautiful Peter help with the stuff you need for Ida?

I keep seeing people talking about clicking on the lovers during a certain animation and then not receiving the correct reward but that’s not how it works at all.
The game spawns some happy lovers and some hateful lovers every time (I think 5 of each). Both walk around looking exactly the same. Occasionally they will stop and do their special animation. If you see them fighting they are hateful if you see the making out (he sticks his leg out behind him) then they are happy. They will continue to be happy or hateful when the special animation stops. It doesn’t matter at all what they are doing when you tap them, the special animation just tips you off.
Also when you clear all of one kind the other kind will vanish even if the timer isn’t up so you know when you’ve got all of the kind you are looking for.

I have observed the same. There is no special timing required to collect broken hearts. Once you know a couple is fighting, you can tap them while they are walking to collect for hate.
The tactic that I’m using is to reduce the amount of streets and zoom out to observe several couples at once and look for the telling limbs;
raised arm means hate;
raised leg mean love.

I think you are right about the couples. I issue I seem to have is 2 mins is not enough time to find and observe each couple long enough to determine if I should tap them. They walk around for quite a while before doing their special action. My town is large and sprawling as I’ve been playing almost since the very beginning. So the couples offer disappear behind a building and do their action out of view, plus it’s time intensive to even locate them in my town in the first place.
Love the variation in this event though! Just need more than 2 mins. Of course perhaps the event will be long enough for me to win each prize level even if I don’t manage 5/5 every 4 hours 🙂

Wait and watch? But they are only on the screen for 2 minutes and I have to search just to find them let alone watch for a specific animation. This part is really annoying and I end up getting both kinds of hearts so my meter is just stuck in the middle…

So I thought I’d “hop” on here (oops sorry) and throw out the biggest problem I’m having when it comes to the couples. And that is that it takes so long for a couple to actually stop and do either respective animation, that two minutes is no where near long enough to go through every couple. I mean, I’m awesome and all, but I’m only one man! 😛

I could careless for the event. Seems I have lover lag? Dont matter what they doing it just a tossup as to what I get approx 60% heart so that not to good.
I do love they added the ability to find buildings off of actions. No more searching for hours for this clammer.

Actually…if you just watch them… watch for the ones that start fighting, just as she reaches back to slap him… tap on them. I got “hate” hearts every time.

It is tricky. If they are not the ones you want… you have to wait 2 mins for them to leave and 4 hrs for them to respawn. This is gonna be interesting. Gotta be careful… the hearts will cancel each other out.

So I finally figured it out, I think if I had 30 more seconds I would have done better, my quahog is big so following them around waiting for them to kiss or slap took a while and unfortunately the couples I followed this time we’re all the broken hearts that I don’t want to collect :/. If you are away from the game during the four hour interval will they spawn when you re-open the game? My next is at 4 am and I’m pretty sure I won’t be up then.

Respawn when you open your game back up. Takes a few seconds but they’ll respawn if you’ve been away for more than 4hrs

Is there a timer anywhere to show when the couples will respawn? I kinda hate just having to remember when its been 4 hours.

They respawn on a 4 hour rate. You log in after 6 hours, they spawn immediately and you get 2 minutes clock. You don’T physically have to be there at the 4 hour mark. 🙂

And it still crashes like crazy every few minutes, losing pretty much most actions that I’ve performed before. It’s almost unplayable. Not impressed.

Thanks. It’s not actually lagging. I play normally, then it exits all of a sudden and unrelated to any particular interactions. Often it seems if I exit actively after playing for about 30 seconds to a minute, it successfully saves the state. But as you can imagine this isn’t actually fun. I’ll try reinstalling later today.

I’m gonna be honest. This event seems like it is gonna be lame. Not looking forward to three full weeks of Valentine’s. Buy a card and some flowers and be done with it. Thanks for the update though.

Does anyone use an emulator to play this game? ie: Genymotion? I use it on my desktop so I don’t drain my phone battery during the day, but after updating the game on it tonight it crashes upon loading 😦 Just wondering if anyone knew how to fix it.

Despite mixed results on previous mystery boxes I decided to risk 75 clams on one. Recieved the drone card delivery and thought meh, then tapped it and realised it pays out 1500 cards every 16hrs!!!

Apologies for being cynical, but you girls must get a heck of a lot of free clams to be so “on the ball” with clues and info on wot is wot, either that or the TinyCo “film couch” is well used and the animators are smiling a lot

Ummmmm… I don’t think so. Bwahahahah. I am quite proud to boast that EVERY Clam in our games is bought and paid for by myself and Alissa personally (my mailbox is full of google/iTunes receipts to show for it). This is OUR site and as such it is OUR games and OUR money providing the information. We are very proud of that. “Free Clams” from TinyCo would be really cool. I know our bank accounts would thank them as we go through at LEAST $100 worth every 2 weeks during high event times.

In my opinion tho, TinyCo should reduce the time for those quests that earn the required bits n pieces, so that we the players play the game more, rather than, set it going for 8 hours then come back to find the character didn’t drop the item 😦 if that makes sense

It does make sense. It’s actually more the style of gaming is one that is not suitable for all players. This is closer to an RPG style. In that, you will not succeed each quest. Many times the boss has to be attacked multiple times before you defeat him. Many times you will fail. It is a challenging style of game. Multiple layers. To me… it is a style I LOVE. Reminds me of games like Zelda. I have fun playing those kinds of Challenging games.

They are good to us in the way the communicate daily with us on the game. A LOT of correspondence back and forth with them. I wish other gaming houses would understand just how important that level of communication is on a game.
This is just a silly lil blog. We didn’t set out to make millions off of it. I don’t think that’s possible anyway. Lol. Both Alissa and Myself have giving hearts and love to share. We get by, that is good enough for me. 😉

I agree. Without this site I would never have gotten hooked to stay. I had this game downloaded for months and didn’t start playing till I stumbled across this site. It also helps to know what might be coming and that I’m not the only one struggling not to scream in frustration sometimes because I gotta say tinyco did not start responding nicely to me until I started playing iOS. When I was playing on android, I got the dumbest responses if they responded at all

The love meter prizes don’t seem to be very balanced. For Quagmire one of his prizes is a building which I believe helps with Ida while the other is a decoration. I think it makes the choices very biased from a strategic point of view.

The first couple I clicked on was a couple kissing and rocking back-and-forth. It gave me a broken heart so I decided instead to gather hate hearts. I clicked on all the other ones that were arguing and slapping each other and I gathered all five hate hearts and waited for the others to despawn. They never did. Nine hours later and I still have the in-love couples wandering around that I can’t click on, and no new angry couples ever spawned. So I am still stuck on 5 hate.

Best thing to do is Contact TinyCo. Let them know what’s going on in your game. Also, try a hard close of the game. Sometimes various actions just get stuck and restarting helps.

Watch the limbs when they stop. If his leg goes up it’s a heart if her arm goes up it’s a broken heart. Anything in between (and when they’re walking) is a 50/50 shot

2 sets of couples, if she hits him that couple will ONLY give hate if he dips her that couple will ONLY give love there’s 5 of each once you clear 5 the other 5 will disappear hope that helps.

If they kiss… a loving heart.
So go off what side YOU are trying to gain for. Hate or Love and watch them. Kissing and leaning back and forth will give you love. Fighting n slapping will give you hate.

Okay, I took out my roads, cleared the space in front of the event land and squeezed my buildings closer together, V-Day event here I come.
Not sure how I feel about the love/hate thing. The images are small on my phone and what if I want both? What if one prize turns out to be better (building vs deco, animated vs boring) than the other one? Is this another way to get me to spend clams at another best of event? What if I like one character’s hate prize but another one’s love prize? Too many choices and yet not enough options, a true conundrum!
I wonder if I should lean back and watch what other people report on prizes, which ones are cool etc. or will I fall too far back to advance appropriately if I have to wait days until all the information is collected.

Both types of couples walk around kissing, you have to wait until you see the small red hearts or purple broken hearts appear around them.
