Update 2/6 9:15 am EST: I know many of you are having issues with the PDA couples. They’re rough, I know. Here’s a tip that many readers have mentioned in the comments & something Bunny & I have found to work as well…Watch the limbs when they stop. If his leg goes up it’s a heart if her arm goes up it’s a broken heart. So make sure you’re watching when they STOP. And I know 2 minutes is rough to watch/tap…best thing to do if you think you need more time is send a request to TinyCo. We know they listen, so hopefully they’ll make an adjustment if enough people feel it’s needed. Good Luck!

The event ends on February 26th. So it’s a shorter event…but still should be fun!

You can build either Love or Hate in the Affection Meter by shooing Enamored Couples (Hearts) or Angry Couples (Broken Hearts). When you reach one end of the Affection Meter, you’ll win a prize!
You can view the Affection Meter by tapping on the cupid’s big, illuminated heart.
The prizes for Love and Hate are different, so be sure to take a look at the Affection Meter page in the event hub for a list of prizes. You can only choose one!

The Couples
There are two types of couples…Fighting Couples and Enamored Couples. BUT they’re the exact same couple. What determines which heart you get is when you tap on them. You have to watch them closely…if he starts to dip her… you will get a love heart and they will start walking again shortly after… if she starts to yell at him…gotta be ready cuz she will slap him and you got to tap them between that yelling and smack to get hate heart. So pay attention to what they’re doing to make sure you get the right one.

So what’s the spawn rate? (again from TinyCo’s FAQ)
Couples will spawn every four hours. After they appear, these couples will only be available for two minutes. Shoo them away before they get a room!
Remember when they appear you only have 2 minutes to clear them. A timer will appear in your game in the bottom right corner. Watch it to make sure you get them all before time runs out!

Game Currency
The Game Currency for this event is Valentines Cards. These will be used to purchase unique event items & unlock various characters (you’ll need them for Handsome Peter for example).
Various characters have Valentine earning tasks. We’ll cover who can do what in another post…but they are out there. You’ll also earn 25 Valentines each time you complete part of the questlines for the Event. And they’ll also drop from event themed buildings.

Finally Handsome Peter has arrived in Quahog! Here’s what you’ll need to create him:

Ida Davis
After you start Beautiful People Pt. 6 you’ll get the trigger for Ida Davis. My Fair Lady will start up. You’ll have to repair the Park Bench, which can be found in the Valentine’s Day Event Area. It takes 8hrs and costs 50 Valentines.
Now…IDA IS TIMED!!! You will have 5 days to unlock once you repair the bench. So don’t do it until you’re ready!
Here’s what you’ll need to unlock once ready:

What About Arnold?
Arnold is supposed to be part of this phase of the event. He is premium (250 Clams) BUT i’ve yet to uncover how to get him. Per TinyCo’s FAQ:
After you start “Clams and Muscles Pt.1,” Arnold Schwarzenegger will become available to purchase in the shop (along with the Action Hero Jet 2600) for 250 clams.
TinyCo has changed the FAQ to show it’s now when Beautiful People ends. Will finish that up and let you know what I find out.
Update: Finally got to a point where I’m able to purchase Arnold. He comes with the Hero Jet, which earns Valentines.
Here’s the benefit to Arnold…he has TWO actions that drop hearts. (broken or regular) Each time you complete it you’ll get 3 hearts (I’m fairly sure it’s an always drop. I’ve done it 3 times and gotten hearts each time. Pretty sweet since each action is only 4hrs to complete!
I’ve completed all the questlines (except for Beautiful People, there’s a part where you’ll need to clear 8 PDA couples so I’m held up at that), unlocked Handsome Peter & Ida Davis…yet I still don’t see the option to buy Arnold. I’ve sent a message to TinyCo about it & will let you know what happens once I know.

Hi. Just to clarify. When the couples stop, they give off purple or red heart ‘bubbles’. That’s the colour hearts you get when you tap them. Must say, not the easiest challenge they’ve given us.

Do you all notice the new ability to place buildings for a task easier by pressing go that appears over the task it takes you to the building needed weither in inventory or the buying area. So helpful.

I don’t get it: arnold has a task that drops an item for beautiful peter, but he doesn’t appear until you complete the beautiful people questiline, which means you have to complete beautiful peter first. What the heck?

I know Ida is a timed event and you say be ready before starting but I can’t get any Ida items yet. Just handsome Peter. Do I have to repair the bench and click the check mark to get items or is there a way to get a jump start? I have these timed tasks.

After Tiny Co added the heart animation i have noticed this problem within my game’s store….
All of the items in the store now say “Go”. This is a major problem because some players may accidentally buy premium stuff. When i click go on anything it atomatically prompts me to just place the object without any idea of what it will cost. 😦

In regards to Ida, I don’t want to start the countdown clock on her till I have almost everything. If I repair the bench do I have another option to hold off before the countdown starts or is it right after fixing the bench?

I purchased the skin for the Founding Father to get item drops, but when the skin is on it does not show the Chance to drop anything! Does yours have the little yellow items box showing on the timer? Mine just shows it earns cards and experience.

Shooing away couples is turrible, just turrible.. I’m surprised to say it, but I’d rather throw bombs than clicking them.
I’m shooting for love hearts for Quagmire and I’ve been at 14 a few times only to knock myself down to 8 or 9.
Many thanks for posting hints on when to tap them. That is at least giving me a shot, but i foresee myself not really fooling around with them in their current state. I’ll just have to hope i can get outfits/characters the old fashioned way without help from buildings/skins pertaining to the love meter.. *sighs*

Why the HECK would they require you to finish a quest line just to be able to buy arnold. I have no qualms in buying premium chars. I actually always do. These premium chars always give an advantage to these events. My gripe is why would they have me wait to spend my clams to get the most benefits out of it, by requiring me to finish an outfit first. It is not like these outfits can be obtained just like that (unless you speed them up with clams). I am already paying for the character. Why would they waste my time by having me wait/work for it.

I guess I am confused by the couples.. Sometimes I click them when they are kissing and I get the heart I am supposed to, the red one.. Other times I get the purple. Sometimes when they are waking I get a red and sometimes purple. It’s just so inconsistent. I had two standing right next to each other doing the same thing and clicked them both, got one red and one purple. I just wish there was a clear cut way to tell when you would get each color..

Only way I see how you can get the heart you want is to find couples who are standing still than if they start fighting click if you want hate if they start making out like there’s no tommorow click for love

So I got the 15 hearts for quagmire and got the building. I’m trying to figure out how to upload the picture I screen printed. For Peter, the next one you can choose love or hate, however he requires FIFTY hearts (love or hate your choice). To get his prize. I can email my screen print to you guys if you have an email. Or I can try to find an old email I exchanged with bunny…. You guys are probably way ahead of me and already know this though lol.

Excactly how do these spawnrates work?
Mine are almost never 4 hours apart?looks random to me?
For instance the couples apered at 17:15 so +4 hours should be 21:15
I logged in at 21:00 and waited until 21:30 but no sjow at all?..
Maybe a timer should be a good idea or at least a solid 4 hours instead of random?..

As every player controls when they are in n out of their game… that may not be so easy. No one plays on the exact same time frames. The timing has changed as well. See post below…
They will spawn ANYWHERE there is roads and usually within 2 minutes of entering your game for the first time AFTER the now 3 hour mark. So try also to force close and reset your game to see if that triggers them to pop up. 😉

Logged in a couple of times in between to manage a couple of tasks so i could not have missed them

Keep the force close in mind. I know that sometimes the game needs a lil “kick” to let it know you went out and came back in to trigger the spawn. Force close usually does that. So … if after 3 hours now… you do not see them, try it. 😉

Did you get past the questline to trigger them yet? The one where you start off with clearing the 5? After that, they show up more frequently and also see the new times and spawns in the Couples post.

Yep, I had the questline for them. They showed up around the 6 hour mark. I was at the build ida portion in both games around 6am cst. The timing of them just seems very inconsistant. Hopefully it evens out. =)

Same here! I spent 800 clams to get everything but no clams. Finally stopped after that because i didnt have enough clams left. So i bought 1,600 MORE clams but those im keeping for another time. No more mystery box experiments for me lol. Thats what i get for trying to exploit a glitch! Lol

Just once you clear all the prizes you can still earn clams and valentines. Usually the box disappears once all of the bigger items are gone

One question though, you say don’t repair the park bench for Ida until you’re ready but you need items that characters drop to get her, so don’t you have to repair the bench in Order for the characters to start dropping them? Basically how do you know when you’re ready for her if people won’t drop stuff for her until she’s psychically there? Sorry if that’s confusing :-S

When I say ready…I mean prepared to send your characters to grind to get her. if you’re working on Handsome Peter, wait on Ida. Also earn Valentines first before unlocking it. You’ll need to get the Self-Love tunnel & that could end up slowing you down, since it’s 800 tickets

I know it’s already been posted, but the value of Arnold goes way down if we aren’t able to purchase him until after the Beautiful People quest. Since we have to craft Handsome Peter during the Beautiful People quest, that means we aren’t able to use Arnold to get Hot Wax for Handsome Peter.

Ok that’s what I assumed should be happening, but its not happening in mine. I have gone in multiple times since the 4 hour mark and left it open and they haven’t appeared. I did send them an in game message so hopefully it gets corrected soon. (And tiny co has always been very prompt and helpful when I have had issues – kindness does go a long way)

Tried the cupid prize bix and wasted 150 clams. Got the worst prize the stupid bed? What a useless decoration, and 250 valantine cards. Will not be wasting any more. Got to follow the couples like a hawk to see if he lifts his leg, although this was a good thanks, but come on, why make it so difficult to choose. Not to impressed with this update up to now.

Why in the world does Arnold have tasks to get items for beautiful Peter but, you can not get him until after you complete the get Beautiful Peter quest? I thought the whole point of these purchasable characters were to help out on the item collections during an event? Thanx for posting, as always, but so far I find the couples hard to read. I stop and stare (nothing pervy) and still get the wrong hearts 1/3 of the time. Why can’t they just make it obvious, like loving couples where red and hating ones wear black. 2 steps forward, one step back is a slow process. I’m not in love with this game mechanic. I don’t even have a crush on it.

I think three minutes would be perfect. I also watch the couples eyes if they are blocked by buildings/ect. Angry couples open their eyes and enamored keep them closed…. Angry separate and enamored stay in the embraced position. I just miss out because I follow them while they walk in their random pattern and it takes so long for them to stop and show what they are!! Honestly it took me a few rounds but now I’m confident in my ability to at least get the desired heart that I want, thanks to you guys 🙂 still, with the two minutes I’m stuck with only getting 3-4 of the hearts I want, unless I get impatient- which sucks because it usually counts against what I’m going for. I have 14 hearts right now for quagmire. Hopefully in four more hours I will get my prize.
I’m totally going to send tinyco an in game message requesting more TIME for the PDAS! I hope everyone else does too!

Before i actually mail TinyCo, anyone else notice their Dansu Dansu building go missing? I could have sworn my daughter and I both had this built. It’s required for Hayley Smith to do a long task. Her long task after the update is locked and I have to rebuild it.
Maybe I’m just crazy but having others check will help me figure it out.

It’s part of D7, so I don’t think they’d pull it. Could be a glitch, double check your inventory to make sure it’s not there.

I thought I was losing it. My dansu dansu is gone too. Only noticed early morning after saw locked tasked on Hayley. I had to sit and think if I ever bought it.
This game is making me crazy.

I am confused with pda couples: they show up every 4 hours and last 2 minutes. So if I login into my game after 4 hours and 3 minutes does that mean I won’t see them at all until the next 4 hours? Or should they spawn (after 4 hours) when I login my game.

They’ll spawn when you log in. Just give it a few seconds for them to popup, it won’t be instant

Ok that’s what I assumed should be happening, but its not happening in mine. I have gone in multiple times since the 4 hour mark and left it open and they haven’t appeared. I did send them an in game message so hopefully it gets corrected soon. (And tiny co has always been very prompt and helpful when I have had issues – kindness does go a long way)

Are magic flutes still dropping? I only need one more for Pat. I’ve had Bonnie, Lois, Bruce, & Stewie exclusively doing their flute-dropping tasks non-stop for days and that last one wont drop. 😦
