Hello There Clammers!
So we’re into day two of the Valentine’s Day Event. As we’re all working on getting our bearings in this new event a lot of you have questions. And now that we’ve worked our way through just about all of phase 1 we’ve got answers for you!
So let’s break down some of your most common questions for Phase 1 (including Love/Hate Prizes, Couples, Handsome Peter, Character Tasks and more).
Handsome Peter isn’t in Al Harrington’s, Why Can’t I See Him?
Handsome Peter won’t appear, to collect items for, until you’ve reached Part 6 of the Beautiful People questline. Once that starts up you’ll see Handsome Peter appear in Al Harrington’s & the Store (under characters).
Can I Collect Items for Ida Davis before Repairing the Park Bench?
No. You cannot start collecting items for Ida until after you’ve “found” her. This means you’ll have to start the timer to collect the items.
What Strategy Do You Recommend for Earning Both Handsome Peter & Ida Davis?
I recommend focusing on collecting Valentine’s first. Earn as many as you can BEFORE repairing the Park Bench. You’ll need to build the Tunnel of Self-Love to unlock Ida, which costs 800 Valentines. I suspect this could be one of the biggest delays for many of you. So focus on earning as many Valentines as you can first (800 for Ida & 500 for Handsome Peter) & build the Tunnel of Self-Love before repairing the bench.
I also recommend working to get Handsome Peter first, because he has an action that will help you get Ida. But remember Handsome Peter isn’t timed. So if it comes down to it, focus on Ida and the timer first.
Why Can’t I See Tasks from Characters to Earn Valentines?
Various characters earn Valentines through tasks, we’ll have a complete breakdown up later, but they don’t start to unlock until after you progress through the questline. So keep moving through the various questlines and you’ll uncover more Valentine earning tasks. 🙂
What’s Up with Arnold? How Come It Says He Has a Task for Handsome Peter, But You Can’t Unlock the Ability to Buy Him Until After you Have Handsome Peter?
So initially there was an oversight with Arnold. Here’s the deal….he’s a premium character available for purchase at 250 clams. The ability to unlock Arnold won’t happen until you’ve completed the Beautiful People questline (at least past part 9). You’ve you’ve completed that questline the Clams and Muscles questline will start (Chris should start it). That questline is what will unlock Arnold in your store for purchase.
Now…initially it was indicated the Arnold could help earn Hot Wax for Handsome Peter. Of course this doesn’t make sense since you can’t get Arnold until after you have Handsome Peter. So….TinyCo has fixed this. Now Arnold will help earn items for Ida (Ribbons and Hormone Pills), as well as earn extra hearts.
What Happened to the Hot Wax Task Then?
TinyCo has moved the Hot Wax earning task from Arnold to the Tunnel of Self-Love (all the more reason to unlock it ASAP!).
What’s Up With the Couples?
Bunny wrote a VERY detailed post about the Affection Meter. (You can find that post here.) Since that post went live TinyCo has made some changes…in addition to revised spawn rates & an extended timer to 3 minutes…they’ve also added animations to float over each couples head to distinguish which couple is which. Here’s the guide:
Fighting couples = a cloud of broken purple hearts will be animating above their heads
Enamored couples = a cloud of red full hearts will be animation above their heads

Should make it a little easier to spot which is which!
Speaking of Affection Meter, How Do I Know Which Path to Choose?
It’s up to you if you want to go the Love route or the Hate route. Take a look at the items and decide which one you want to go.
Here’s what I can tell you…at least right now (for the first 2 prizes). So far all of the Love items are buildings. Buildings that earn extra Valentines and can help you with this event (and generate cash afterwards). While all of the hate items are decorations. Just items to look at but offer no payouts/tasks.
Remember, you can jump back and forth between the two for each character, but you can only choose 1 item for each character.
And yes…the Hot Tub is just a decoration. It is animated BUT no one uses it (at least not that I can see).
How Many Hearts (or Broken Hearts) Do I Need For Each Level?
So far Level 1 (Quagmire) requires 15 hearts (Broken or unbroken) and Level 2 (Peter) requires 50 hearts (Broken or unbroken). Remember…the hearts cancel each other out. So if you collect 5 Broken Hearts and 5 Unbroken Hearts you’ll have 0 Hearts. Make sense?
So I think that about covers your most commonly asked questions. Of course we’ll have posts going more into detail for each one..but for now I think this gives you guys a good overview.

I just started this in the begining of dec and didn’t have to many people runing around my lil city so when we had the joggers I left 1 man and woman. They’re still there. Just wondering if anyone else has done this and if so , if I touch one of em ,will they dissappear?

QUESTION: Has anyone else noticed that sometimes the “other” couples don’t disappear even though you have collected all their counterparts?
On my last PDA spawn I got eight “hate” couples and all the others were “love” couples. Yet the spare couples didn’t vanish until the timer ran down to zero…

The love couples will stay if you collect all the hates, but the hates will disappear if you collect all the love. Why? No clue…just know that that’s what they do.

After you get the second prize do you recommend not collecting either heart until the next prize is revealed or keep collecting and guess one or the other?

From what I can tell they build up. If you know which path you want to go down I would continue to collect. Of course with out knowing the next prizes it’s hard to say which is the best path for the next batch.

Since others are mentioning it I figured I’d also weigh in that my game (ios) and my partner’s game (Android) are both missing the star tab. I’m not overly concerned about it though…wasn’t that just the promotions tab anyway? It is a bit odd having a blank space there, but I probably wouldn’t have clicked on it much anyway.

Didn’t see this mentioned here but I noticed clevlands item drop for handsome Peter is an always drop. I guess it’s uncommon and it could be coincidence but clevlands been like 8/8 in my game when uncommons usually hover around a 50% drop rate. Maybe his is so much shorter than the rest (only an hour) and set to always drop because he is a premium character. Is he still in the store for people who don’t have him. Bought him back before Halloween so I wouldn’t know.

You’re not allowed to. You can only choose 1 or the other. Once you get 1 you can’t go back and get the other.

To add to my comment above, the same post also includes this text…
Also, once you complete the first Prize collection the Affection Meter will reset and you can start a new collection for another Prize.
Everyone makes mistakes, but you should clarify the text so someone else doesn’t come along thinking it resets so you can collect the other character prizes as well.

I unlocked the second “love prize”, the chocolatier building, but the next set of prizes aren’t showing yet. I tried closing the game and reopening it but it still just shows two locks. Do you guys know what the prizes are? I kept collecting hearts, so I hope I don’t end up wanting the hate prize.

I wonder for some tasks that you do it to get some items, do you definitely get that item if you use clams to speed it up? I have done it a few times and it dropped everytime, even on rare items.

It varies more on if it is an ALWAYS drop or what level rate the drop is. In other words you are less likely to get an extra rare item each speed up where with common or uncommon you are more likely to.

Tinyco did a great job changing the animation slightly, it’s still a little hard, but not like before:) Ive actually gotten all 8 each time now. I’ve a ctually counted out loud how many I was tapping, and even got 11 so even if you tap your 8 I would keep looking, there might be more getting frisky 😉 I have every piece of land and my place the way I like it. I have taken out any roads or moved my buildings, I decided only to move thing now if there is absolutely no other way around it. Best trick for me is to zoom out to almost all the way and scan first to see any red, sometimes at the start of they are already stopped and very easy to pick off the love or hate ones, don’t stay in one spot or even follow them its best to find some already stopped and wait a few seconds to see the cloud. Hope that helps 🙂

I’m glad I wasn’t imagining it lol, that’s why I keep looking now till they tell me they have gone away. I’m close to finishing the second love prize. Definitely much easier to differentiate between the lovers and haters.

When the couples first appear they are all kissing and hearts show up right away. I caught 4 hearts and knew 3 I didn’t want right away!
Halfway to Peter’s love prize. Personally, I like this event. More entertaining than some other game I play.

So if I read all of this right, it sounds like the best thing to do (if you’re not spending clams) is…
1. Collect tons of valentines
2. Get Tunnel of Self-Love
3. Get handsome Peter
4. Repair bench to unlock Ida which starts 5 day timer (so start by 2/20 to be on afar side)
I hope I can get all of this accomplished!

I went back into my game after about 1 hr 15 min to check on some stuff and the PDA couples spawned again. So it was a lot sooner than the 3 hr wait time. I’m also finding it much easier to get the hearts I want – got 7 out of the 8 possible red hearts. I was going to destroy most of my roads but now think it’s not needed.
As with most events (& of course thanx to the Addicts invaluable advice) I find that getting most, if not all, of the stuff you want is doable. Also thanx to TinyCo for listening and adjusting on the fly!

I have a question about the hate couples. Why is the girl still latched onto the guy while she’s slapping and yelling at him?

As far as the whole event, it seems overly complicated. I have played the Simpsons for years, and enjoy the linear story line. I also appreciate the fact that premium characters earn a bit more coins and xp. And that special events (especially lately) are timed to make use of most characters while allowing new users to participate.
Family guy seems to be all over the place. There are always a ton of story lines running using the same characters that are also needed to collect items for timed events, each additional time making items harder to earn.
I enjoy a challenging game, but this is starting to become a tedious task. (i.e. Bonnie spends 90% of the time twerking for items) Moreover, unless you check websites like this (thank you guys, for breaking down events, answering questions, and running an awesome site :-)), it is very likely you won’t be able to unlock timed characters unless you spend $$. It’s almost like they trick you-not cool.

As a seasoned player of both from pretty much game launch of both, they are not nor will they ever be the same game. I prefer it that way. If they were identical, I would be bored to death.
I know that Family Guy is a different style that players may not be used to. It borders more a RPG style game. There is a main questline with interwoven side ones. It still runs in a sequence, but a style that you may not be used to at all.
We get the same comments on TSTO is what makes me giggle. Too much going on, need website to explain, etc. Lol. Don’t sweat it. It’s not for everyone.
As for the Star issue, I have it on both my Droid and iOS devices, so not sure the issue but please report it from your game.

Got Jailhouse Meg yesterday, busy with those quests. Almost done with Blimp, but a few characters have crossed over and needed for the Valentines Day stuff, should have the Blimp done later today (fortunately Brian and Stewie aren’t needed yet for the VD stuff). Got Beautiful Peter a bit ago and Peters Love Prize and I’m repairing Ida’s bench (already have all of the heart generator buildings). It’s a shame that if you keep collecting hearts that they do nothing on your Affection Meter. It’d be nice if they kept them rolling so you can save them for the next character. I’m guessing we’re gonna start needing a ton of hearts to get to through all of the remaining characters to get Hot Meg.
(PS Hot Meg is the final Love Prize on the Affection Meter).

FYI I put in a request to see if they could have the couples at least drop valentines when you are done with collecting for the current roll out’s prizes so there would at least be a reason for them to appear.

Looks like they got my suggestion implemented before I sent it to them.. They reading my mind!! J/K When I got Peter’s item it didn’t look like i was getting more hearts, but later when I came back it showed 5. So yea it works like that.

As the next phase of prizes has not even been dropped… there is not a way to confirm what you are saying. As you can see TinyCo changes their game as it progresses, so what you think may be coming in the future… may change to something else. So… until confirmed, its just speculation.

they definitely don’t give you enough time to shoo away the couples because u have to wait until the hearts show above their head to know if they’re good or bad….that makes it a little bit harder and takes a lot longer….need to add more time for their appearance…..

spotting which couples are which is a bit easier now, if they “always” had that animation on top would be even easier, or being always fighting… (because those couples start kissing… after a couple of secondsthey start fighting and THEN the broken purple hearts appear…
you have to keep the couples on sight for several seconds to disciver which is which

I took out most of the street in my town which REALLY helped. Now they all span and walk around the same block so I can see multiple couples stop at the same time. I clear all of the Love couples way before the timer runs out now.
Also, in case you didn’t notice, Hot Multiverse Meg is earned as a Love prize at the very end of the prizes list. It does not show who earns her yet though.

So until Thursday, the couples are a non-factor once you get both prizes. Without knowing the next prize, what sense is there to attempt to bank hearts? I guess you could gamble for purple hearts since the best two prizes were red hearts this go-round. Plus the counter resets to zero after collecting so they can’t make the levels in Phase 2 be absurd where you need to be banking them now. Too bad we can’t work toward the other two prizes we didn’t get just to keep us in the event until the next phase launches.

Alissa, I really have to thank you for this. It cemented my decision for the Chocolate Building. I aim for buildings, but with that being a hot tub, I was torn. Never got the American Dad hot tub….
Knowing at least now, it is JUST a deco, I am 35 into the building and glad for it. 🙂

How is arnold voiced? Did they use quotes from movies or did he actually synchronize the character himself like Patrick stewart?

Usually, they will try to use what appeared in the TV Series. Easier to get a legal OK a second time around then renegotiated for all new lines.

Loving the event so far (I was even enjoying the couples bit before the made the changes!) can’t wait to get Arnold!
I have a question though as I have never sped up creating a character before, if I sped up creating Beautiful Peter with clams would it use any of my valentines?

Yes, if you have Valentines they will get used if you speed them up. The amount of Valentines you have will reduce the amount of clams he costs

Good call on not starting Ida until after you get handsome peter. I hope it doesn’t come down to it but do you have to collect Ida by the end of the event, or do you just have to start the timer?

That we don’t know yet, we’ll have to wait and see if they keep her around. My gut tells me you have to unlock Ida completely before the event ends. The good news is you have until the 26th to do it.

I just can’t tell the couples apart… The animation only seems to appear when they stop… And most keep moving the whole time… The meter for me has hovered around the centre I.e. Equal lovers and haters… So I am currently screwed… Come on TinyCo, this is way poor!!!!!! Please change the colours of the couple or something to make it a tad easier?

Yep I’m having the exact same issue… Even before they added the heart animations (which admittedly does help, but my town is huge and it takes a long time to follow each couple around until they stop), I was thinking it would make more sense to have them wearing different colored clothes.
And yes, I did try removing all of my roads, except for one small strip, and while the couples were easier to watch, they were not contained to the road and continued to wander around all of my land. Of course, when I realized it didn’t make a difference I put all of the roads back..

Leave the roads out. Once they’ve spawned, yes they are going to keep walking where they are, but the next time they will spawn only on the roads that exist. I have just a short strip, I can see several at a time and get all 8 well before the timer ends. I also out away all NPCs that would be wandering and I send characters on indoor tasks if I can.

I’m in the same boat. The couples never seem to stop. The animations and hearts don’t do me any good if the couple is always on the move.

I know I don’t gain anything from it other than ‘ooo, pretty’ but I’ve gone hate in both directions. Have the archery set, depending on my clicking abilities, I should have the hot tub some time tomorrow. Then I can focus more on beautiful Peter, and maybe gain enough cash to partially unlock Stewie!

Hi guys… A couple of observations so far:
Firstly, I feel like we could really benefit from having a timer somewhere to tell us how long until the couples spawn again. Other events have had something like this located in one of the event dashboard tabs, I’m fairly sure.
Also, it seems like the floating heart indicators only appear when the couple stops and “performs their action”. Wouldn’t it make a lot more sense for these to be floating above them whilst they are walking about as well, or is it intentionally this way so that we have a much greater chance of not being able to collect them?

I’m so glad that Tinyco have done something about the couples (even though just looking at the mans leg is just as good) thanks to you guys. I’ve got the 1st prize I went for the building. I’ve also got Beautiful peter and I’ve unlocked Ida. Just working on getting peters love prize now (the building again) I’ve got 27 out of the 50 hearts needed to unlock it. Will we have to wait till the next update to get the next prize after peters?

the very middle tab labled with a star has disappeared completely from the Valentine’s Main menu. i checked my bf’s game and his is there so i didn’t think they pulled it to work on it or ssomething,..weird. Anybody else?

I have a question. How does everyone get through everything so quickly. Unless you’re spending hundreds of clams how can you already have Beautiful Peter or such? Lucky people they are and me, I can barely get on to the game. Since the event started the game is crash happy, but I guess that always happens during the beginning of an event. I think it’s really those damn lovers who keep lagging everything up, and it’s so hard to control myself from just tapping all of them as soon as I see them.
Off topic, but I’m still getting a null-ad-decoration-white-picket-fence (or something like that) error that either makes my game take ten minutes too reload or crashes it. I got rid of most of my american dad white fence, but there might still be one out lost in the clutter, but don’t want to nuke cause that will likely cause so much crashing and I’m not prepared for that right now. or ever. Is anyone else seeing this though?
I love this game, but this is the worst it’s ever been crashing wise, but I’m not mad, just a lit’ disappointed.

As far as the other… high paced events always drain MORE memory on those outdoor animations going in full speed. So… I follow my usual steps… INVENTORY INVENTORY INVENTORY. Put a bunch away til after the event.

Hello all, as with the last few events with these types of characters roaming our fair Quahog, TinyCo’s gameplay has ruined the abilty to actually tap them.
Ok, yes I have been playing since day dot, and have pretty much all fremium and most earned content placed, however unlike TSTO Tinyco has chosen to only preload content once you scroll over it. The problem is that it takes a good couple of minutes to move around and “preload” the town before you can then move around freely, with characters and npcs glitching and jumping around all over the place. If you are timing your taps for those spawn rates, its impossible to see what is happening until after you preload everything, by that stage you have seconds left to quickly see if any are lover or hater npcs to tap before they all disappear!
I have written to Tinyco relating this, there is no way it is a memory problem, I have far more content in TSTO than FGTQFS, it simply comes down to sloppy programming, something I am seeing with more regularity in these types of apps. 20 years agp when I started programming we called this “bloatware”, needless code and bad programming habits that asume everyone is using the latest greatest device and fills the resources with no abandon.
Sorry for my rant here guys, as mentioned I have contacted Tinyco although I suspect there is little they can do about it now, it seems to “built in” to the inherent programming.

FYI… it functions a lot different than TSTO. These are the tips I used for crashing and lagging (that I also get on TSTO with “too much” going on in the game. Like getting locked out of TSTO for 3 months until they rolled it back far enough I no longer had “too much” in my town. Lol)

Cheers Bunny, I do appreciate the differences between TSTO and FGTQFS, and as per posts above, it’s what makes the two individually enjoyable in their own way 😉
And thanks for the links, I guess as a programmer and a bit of a maths nerd it does, er, challenge me when certain concepts are compromised for overall cohesion.
I also appreciate that TinyCo is also not EA, I would assume that it is a smaller, less funded production which is understandable given their two differing scales.
Ah well, I know both teams are doing their best, and are both actively listening to their communities, and at the end of the day, if we don’t speak up to try and improve these games they would stifle and die, which none of us want 🙂
At the end of the day, last said, they are free. Yes they do receive for donut / clam purchase but I still think the odds are stacked in our favour!

8 of each kind of couple, 3hr spawn rate & 3 minutes to clear. All up from 6 of each, 4hr spawn rate & 2 minutes to clear

Am I the only one not getting the new, ADDED animations i.e. the floating clouds of purple/red hearts over the couples? I tried force closing the game and rebooting, but no change. The next time they spawned, they still weren’t there. I keep looking back at the screenshots you guys posted, and going, nope, def not, haven’t seen them floating over my couples heads. 😕

You have to watch. It is not instant. It pops up about the same time they did their “tell tell” moves. Like the leaning back on one leg and the slap. Round then is also when the hearts start to float. Just prior until a few moments after the action before they start walking again.

They need to change the shirt colors or something on the couples, this animation only to tell them apart is terrible. I spent half the 3 minute timer just following one couple around trying to tell which one they were (they kept stopping to do their animation behind buildings) But, I’ve been falling out of love with the whole game model of the freemium games anyway (play every single time a timer resets or never get all the things!), so maybe it’s just time to stop playing, anyway. 😛

Delete most of your roads. I have a big block of roads bout 5×6 that’s where my lovers spawn. Can keep any eye on multiple lovers that way. Helped signifcantly

Yeah, the heart animation isn’t very helpful because it doesn’t start until the couples do the original animation (fighting or kissing) to tell them apart in the first place!

Do we have until the end of the event (which was February 26?) to unlock Ida, Handsome Peter and finish Level 2 Peter or just until February 12?

Handsome Peter yes. BUT you can’t move onto the next phase until you unlock Peter. Ida, you have 5 days from when you repair the bench. So it depends on when you repair it.

YAAASSHHHHH!!!!…you girls are AWESOME!!!!…the changes they made make everything so much more easier for me HONESTLY. everybody needs to CALM IT DOWN lmao! it does take some time getting use too, but doesn’t take that long at all! I’m currently waiting on the next group of couples in which i did set a timer for 3 hours at 7:15 annnnd now the couples haven’t respawned yet?!…don’t matter I’ll wait around a lil bit more. just don’t know for sure if my game is running at every 3 hours OR 4 hours with the couples spawning.. ❤

*Welp just as a I got into my game a minute ago, the couples were there! so I’ve won the very first prize building on the Love Heart side. my understanding is you can only go with one or the other right? Like just Wondering I can’t go back and win the archery thing on the Hate Heart side?

You can’t go back once you claim the prize. BUT for the next character you can go the opposite direction. So just choose which prize you want. For example I got Clammy Secret & the hot tub.

It’s animated (it bubbles). Hot tub doesn’t drop anything…not sure on the other building (for item drops) yet. But it should award Valentine’s and XP at the very least.
