Hello There Clammers!
It’s Valentine’s Day in our Tiny Quahogs and with this event TinyCo is trying something new…either or prize scenarios.
Within the Affection Meter you’ll find the main prizes for this event. These are prizes you can collect after clearing PDA Couples & earning either Broken Hearts or Love Hearts. Bunny did a great job of breaking down the how-to on the Affection Meter, but many of you are still asking “which prize is right for me?” So now let’s breakdown the prize options for the 3rd set, Joe, so you can choose which one is right for you…
The third Affection Meter prize went live earlier today and many of you may have noticed a drop in your heart totals. If you were over 74 hearts (broken or unbroken) your counter dropped to 74. Why? Because there was a crashing glitch with the game. If you collected over 75 hearts your game would crash once the new prize was released. To counteract that TinyCo pushed a fix that dropped your heart total down to 74. This way you’d be 1 away from the prize, so you could see choose which path you want AND it resolved the glitch.

Now let’s get into some prize analysis….
To earn either prize for Joe you’ll need a net of 75 hearts. Let’s start with the Hate prize.
Liquid Sorrow Liquor Store- Net 75 .
What does it do?
It’s a building for your Quahog. While no characters will interact with it, it will earn you additional Valentines. How many Valentines? It’ll earn 8 Valentines and 20xp every 4hrs.
Love Prize:
Bumper Buddies Bumper Cars- Net 75
What does it do?
It’s a decoration for your Quahog. Currently it’s not animated, and no characters interact with it.
Update: The Bumper Cars are now animated! Cars are there always now and when tapped they’ll move around…like actual Bumper Cars.
The Verdict/Which Did I Choose?
This round creates a more difficult decision for me. Both prizes look cool, but ultimately I can only choose one. So for this round I went with the Bumper Buddies Bumper Cars. While not animated yet, I’m holding out hope that TinyCo will animate this in the future (similar to other prizes that initially weren’t animated, but eventually got some fun animation). The animation is great, and I’m thrilled TinyCo added it back it! While the liquor store earns more Valentine’s, I felt that ultimately I’d have a hard time fitting it into my Quahog. Where I can put the bumper cars with my items from the Kool-Aid Event & create the carnival/fair area for my town.
Of course that doesn’t mean choosing the Liquor store was a bad call. It’s your decision which path you want to take, we can only suggest based on what we would do…and in this situation I choose the Bumper cars since I felt they’d work best for me in my game.
So what’s next?
Well, at this point only 3 rounds of prizes have been released. So you cannot progress any further than those three rounds. (you can find details about the first two prizes here)
So if you see locks past Joe, don’t freak out. It does not mean your game is broken. EVERYONE is seeing those same locks. They won’t be removed until TinyCo introduces more character prizes.
What Should I Do While Waiting?
It’s really up to you if you want to continue to collect Hearts in-between the rounds.
Here’s my suggestion….think about what prize track you think you’ll want to continue on for the next prize and collect hearts for that track. However, I wouldn’t collect more than 90-95 hearts of that color. My guess is the next prize will cost a net of 100 hearts, so if you collect between 90 and 85 that will keep you close to the next prize, but still give you the choice when they appear to choose between which one you’d want.
Remember if you go over that number just collect the opposite hearts (broken for love or love for broken) to bring the count back down.
Why isn’t my meter moving in either direction?
If you’ve collected both prizes and are collecting hearts in anticipation of the 3rd prize your meter will not move until that prize is released. Why? Because there’s no goal there yet. So the meter has no idea how many hearts the end goal is so it can’t rise or fall based on it. Instead it’ll just stay stagnant in the middle until the next prize is released.
Are you sure I can’t go back and collect the other prize after I’ve already collected them?
Yes, I’m sure. You can only choose 1 prize per character. Once you choose and you’ve claimed that prize you cannot go back and get the other prize. So if you chose Clammy Secrets for Quagmire you cannot go back and get the archery set.

I was told that the prizes you dont earn will be in the store by the end of the event.

what’s going to anger me is if when we get to the last prize, we have to choose between sexy meg & another costume/skin for another character ! the completionist in me will be majorly pissed! also, i’m wondering if there will be 2 more characters that will need to unlocked in the same way as ida, because if you look closely, it looks like there’s 2 more park benches that need to be repaired too.

If this was what they were going to do, they should just stop those pesky couples from spawning if you managed the obtain last available prize. Very pissed off that I got the decoration. Was not even aware that third prize was open. Was just doing what I regularly do upon opening game. They should have had a pop-up appear notifying players of third prize. Rather than having the couples immediately spawn. I hope community backlash would give them something to think about. Sorry for the profanity, but this was an A**HOLE move they pulled.

I had the same thing happen to me. They spawned when I opened and I did as I always do (because I didn’t know the 3rd prize was available) and I ended getting the stupid deco., that I would have never picked! I’m just going to ignore the couples for now.

As with most everyone else, I’ve collected enough love to get 1 more & the DECORATION – or I guess I now need to collect 149 HATE to get the building.
Well I’m going to waste a lot of time now to get the building – but mark my word, I will get screwed a 2nd time since I’m sure TinyCo will hear the complaints and make the building available some other way for those who don’t want to go through the trouble like I’m getting ready to do….. I’m kind of screwed either way I go…. Ugh. Time to collect some hate I guess – I dedicated it towards TinyCo.

May have been reduced but that still killed me with a stupid bumper game. I don’t like the carnival stuff. I clicked on a check mark and it also got a pad couple. A love one. Now I won’t be hitting any until the next one comes out.

Agree with everyone about the flipping of buildings to the hate side. I’ve sent TinyCo a message via the in-game menu to see if they can fix it for future character unlocks so we don’t have to second-guess. Here’s hoping…

I spent a bunch of time and clams on Arnold getting my hearts down to 70 and still went with the bumper carts! I love the deco… I have tons of buildings and am not disappointed! I’m waiting to see what the counter for hot Meg! Thanks for always being so quick with your updates on the game! I’m hoping Joe gets a fun task at the deco later! 🙂

Not right, I had no idea what the next prize was until I logged in again and the PDA couples showed up and after a few red hearts I was rewarded with the bumper cars (I had collected up to that point about 72 red hearts). I don’t like how TinyCo silently updated this, if I did I would have had a chance to get the liquor store. Now it’s too late, thanks (not) for letting us know TinyCo.

I’m really bummed, I jumped on my game and PDA ppl showed up I clicked one and bam I got bumper cars, I didn’t even get a chance, I wish it had reset I would have taken the store, I hope I can just buy it later

I’m pissed. I spent the week clicking on those couples. Now I have some stupid bumper car thing which I totally don’t want. Which by the way, I never clicked on the 75th couple. I closed the dialog box!

I’m not sure if I was part of that specific glitch or not, but just wanted to say right when prize #3 for Joe came out, yeah my hearts were sent back down to 74, i had like 85 I think, so then my couples came out and I was just tapping all of em not paying attention cause I figured I would get ALL broken hearts…LOL NOPE! I got a love heart and put it up to 75 and I had won the bumper cars?! meter went back to 0 and SOOOO when I was right about to place it, my game CRASHED.and as soon as I could get back in, my love hearts were back up to 74 and I have a second chance at getting the other building instead like I wanted in the first place! lol that’s the one I was trying to get before it crashed. is that the glitch they are talking about maybe?

I am also very unhappy with the way this is set up. I didn’t want the stupid, ENORMOUS deco but had no idea what the hell I was collecting hearts for. This is a major flaw.
Well from now on I will be ignoring the couples until I know what I’m actually getting. This is just plain stupid.

No I chose the Bumper Cars because I thought it would work well in a specific area of my town, similar to how I chose the Hot Tub over the building for the hate prize. How many buildings does one honestly need? I’ve been playing since the game started..I’m pretty sure I have plenty. I’m sorry you feel you can no longer trust us, but I think you’re just angry at the situation. However, if you don’t like our insight/opinions you’re more than welcome to write a guest post for us full of your insight and opinion.

While I was bummed about getting the bumper cars with my saved hearts, I am still going to collect red hearts for the next prize. Each prize takes more and more hearts. My final goal is Meg. I don’t want to be frantically getting hearts for her just because I changed my mind on a decoration. I’d rather be ahead of the game.

agreed. the bumper decoration was selected immediately without collecting hearts for me. I dont need no decoration, i want buildings that generate revenue in my town. they should really just show everything you want to earn beforehand and tie it into a quest for each character.. now i know i will not be collecting any more hearts until i know what to get next time. the problem with that is that it will take a lot longer to collect either love or hate since you dont know what to go for. I hope they reverse it so you could choose the other one (even if its a one time switch or something)

Same with me. No notification no chance to change my mind. And the worst thing is i spent so much time collecting hearts on the assumption from love was gonna yield better prizes than hate only to have the other way. This event is a sham.

everthing was working fine after you ended the christmas event and now its back to square 1 with the black screen after the blue tinyco FOX screen.

wtf tiny co! not fair!! I HATE DECORATIONS so you trick me and don’t even give me the option to go back and get the building. this is totally not fair. the least they can do it let you know its available and do you want it or not. cause i SOOOO would not have picked that. UGH. very frustrated with this. at least let us know whats next so we can work towards the prize we actually want instead of being forced into something that will sit in inventory annoying me.

My game just had question marks for joe so I collect red hearts stupidly thinking I’ll have enough for when the next prizes are unlocked so I can get a building thinking the red ones would still be a building but no just now it said I had unlocked joes prize of bumber cars I had no idea of the prizes I had checked 5 minuets before I got joes prize I had a place in my town for a cute liquor store not a bulky carnival ride:(

It’s frustrating at the moment with the switch and not knowing which hearts to keep collecting, I’m guessing as tinyco’s had to do an abrupt about face and make changes to improve the PDA couples spawn rate and make them easier to identify that we’ve now all collected hearts way to quickly and they’re struggling to keep up.
Still shouldn’t take too long to collect in my case 140 broken hearts… 😳

I see TinyCo switched prize tracks for this stage, ie hate became building, love became decoration
With this in mind I cannot see the point of collecting either hearts while waiting for the prizes to be released. I don’t require any decorations so unaware of their intended switch after prize 2 I carried on collecting love hearts (yes I know it was a risk), unfortunately I carried on collecting without realising prize 3 had been released and automatically ended up with the Bumper Ride Dec, which to me is less than useless
I know you can switch tracks before you claim the prize but that means having to earn double hearts, 74 hate to counter the 74 love already earned, followed by 74 hate to win the prize.
Everyone will now think that TinyCo will switch tracks for prize 4, but TinyCo know we will think that way and more than likely not switch, which takes me back to my earlier comment, “what’s the point of collecting etc etc…..
Sorry for the endless rant, but I needed to vent my frustration about this particular stage in the game

Well that’s why it good for me. I like that I won’t have to start collecting until the next prize is released. I actually started collecting for broken-hearts before Joe’s prize released since I knew they would switch them. And they did. But either way, you have ample time to collect hearts right now so I wouldn’t stress it right now.

How I’m easily finding the correct couple that I’m looking for.
do the couple’s in love not disappear until they have been all clicked on, I know the broken heart couple’s disappear once all the love couple’s are clicked but doesn’t seem to work the other way.
Also don’t know if it’s a glitch or whatever but storing the Rite of Passage Tower and replacing it back into your town will restart the collection quest.

Weird. I had almost 150 love hearts, once the new prize was released they dropped down to 75 love hearts.
Oh well, I’m going to other way for the drive thro liquor store…wish me luck, only 150 away.

Being that buildings drop items for characters, I’d rather have a building over a deco. So I’m working backwards. Not too bad since I already started doing that yesterday just in case. I had a sneaking suspicion that they’d be dicks and switch it on us.
It really is unfortunate that they switched it. They should either let us know what all the prizes will be, keep buildings on one side and decos on the other or not let us collect hearts at all until the prizes are shown. It’s not fun at all the way it’s set up and actually is kinda dicky to switch it on us. What’s the point of getting a head start on a gamble? I know I won’t be bothering to collect anymore hearts until I know for certain what is what.

I would have rather had an option to wipe out all of my hearts rather than just drop them to 74. I wanted buildings and figured the Love streak would continue. That’ll teach me for trying to get ahead. Won’t lie … I was really enjoying the event so far but feel a little disappointed now that I need 151 hearts instead of 75. 😦

Super disappointed they switched the deco and building to the opposite heart…I do not want any more buildings, I had placed my bet that the decos would continue to b under the hate side and had over 150…oh well I bet I don’t do that again lol. I didn’t see what that the prize was in the box as I had seen the more was coming Feb 12. so I was just collecting for the Love side. And yes I did have over 100 Red Hearts but didn’t look to see my count went down. When the PDA arrived once again. I had to just tap a one and then Joe was popping up saying something but I was trying to get back to the couples next thing I knew the Bumper Cars was there to put in my town. I was just going for the buildings so now I may just go slow on collecting hearts.

I suffered the exact same situation, although I had stopped at exactly 75 Love. I didn’t even realize what had happened when I logged into the game and won the Bumper Cars. So, while I’m somewhat relieved at not having to earn 149 Hate in order to get the liquor store, I would have liked some form of “heads up.”
IMHO, TinyCo should just stop the PDA couples from appearing once you’ve earned the current prize. Then there’d be no chance of someone earning “too far” in the opposite direction.
But I think I’m going tap enough couples to reset my count back to 0 and then just ignore them until the fourth prize is released.

When I logged on to the game the bumper cars automatically was selected for me. I came here to see which I should try for and being that the liquor store netted hearts I would have chosen that one. Now I am stuck with the bumper cars

Well, I guess that answered my question about reset to zero. TC stole half my hearts by dropping me back to 74. Also it would have been nice to let us know in game that the next prize was released. I got the bumper cars by default due to my finger hitting a lover when I attempted to move my town to where I had finished tasks and they populated at same time. I wonder if they could keep the prize locked but let us see what is next in the queue. That way we can make the decision which way we want to start collecting, especially since I was at 150 hearts (I still have my maze setup from Halloween and the lovers only have 3 blocks of street to appear on, as well as, where everyone else gravitate while waiting for something to do. I just lucked out and hit way too many love hearts while attempting to task my characters) and would have probably gone broken hearts this time to get the building instead of the deco.

Think I must have accidentally clicked a couple without meaning to as I ended up with the bumper cars without realising why until I checked my heart count. Luckily I wasn’t too fussed about either prize, but don’t think I’ll be collecting anymore hearts until I know what I’m in for

Is it just me or is anyone else bummed by how this was handled? I would have chosen the building but unknowingly got the bumper cars. Seeing as how the couples pop up within seconds of starting and you have a small panic attack trying to get certain ones before reminding yourself its just a game.
They needed to have a pop up screen telling you about third prizes being unlocked before any couples showed up and not just a facebook post about it. Hope the liquor store doesn’t have anymore value other than valentines down the road.
Great now I’m one of the whiners I usually roll my eyes at and judge……

I mean it’s a gamble. If you started collecting before they showed the prize it’s not really their fault that you didn’t get what you wanted because again that was a gamble, a risk you wanted to take. Being as they are just random buildings I doubt they will be useful after this besides for coins. But I guess I understand what you’re saying about them telling us about it, so you do make a good point.

Wholeheartedly agree. Would prefer a reset option, but I’ll begrudgingly get the bumper cars, and vow to never buy the liquor store if it does happen to pop up in the future.

I got the bumper cars as I can’t be bothered to drop down from +74 down to -75. Disappointed. Now waiting at zero until next prize is revealed. Arnie and Ida have heart dropping quests to help boost next level

Unfortunately, I did not see this update in time.
I logged in about a half hour ago, collected some PDA hearts and then lost Internet connection.
But, no info on the next prize.
Then, I logged back in, started sending people on tasks and didn’t realize that another set of PDA couples had started.
I noticed in between sending characters on tasks and tapped on a PDA couple and presto! Bumper cars. Completely unexpected. And, never had a chance to make a choice because I was not aware that the next prize choices were open.
So,… I might recommend more than just one PDA buffer.

Damn! I would’ve totally gone for the earning Liquor Store over the passive Bumper Cars given a real choice. I was just merrily going about my business of collecting hearts when all of a sudden I won a prize I didn’t even realise was released yet!
Here’s an idea… Why not have the prizes at least visible, so that we can see what to work toward, but don’t unlock them until they’re ready to be released? Even if I had of known, I’m not sure I’d have been that keen to backtrack 70 odd love hearts then start on collecting the 75 hate hearts required.

What time of day did this happen? I posted in the other thread a short while ago about my issue with this. I had nearly 100 love points as of around 2am CST last night and didn’t check back in to the game until just after 2pm CST. Saw my couples pop up, and after the first love couple I popped, Joe’s message came up and I automatically received his love prize without even seeing options or realizing the next phase had started *two days early*. I was still running under the assumption that the next phase would be Thursday, which now that I think about it is weird because I believe it has been Tuesdays since at least Thanksgiving / American Dad when I first started my game. I get now why things happened the way they did, but it was a bad call on their part to allow collection of any hearts before showing the prizes because of anal retentive drops hoarders like myself. Yes I didn’t have to keep collecting them, but they have had a pattern of exponentially increasing the number of drops needed for collection of the next step in prizes like it was for Christmas with presents needing at least double cookies and increasing the stockings counts. I was only trying to stay ahead of the curve. I’m just disappointed, but at least, so far, his building isn’t also dropping items for characters or skins, which was my biggest concern of missing out. Who knows, maybe they will allow these things to be bought for clams at some point, but by then I won’t want or need it.

This is terrible news…!!! Here’s the thing: I love buildings. I’ll take a building over a decoration EVERY time. I bet / assumed that the Love track would continue to be buildings and the Hate track would continue to be decorations, just like the first two sets were, and I already collected over 100 Love Hearts, in anticipation that the next Love prize would be another building!!!
So, now, to get the building, I’ll have to collect **149** HATE Hearts, to clear out the 74 Love Hearts and build up the 75 Hate Hearts needed for the building. THIS SUCKS SUPER HARD. But, I’m enough of a purist about buildings that I’m gonna do it anyway (since I don’t foresee TinyCo giving folks in my position any way to even reset back to 0 Hearts without having to nullify the Love Heart queue we’ve got now)….
… Sorry for the tone. This is pretty much the most pissed off I’ve been about event details / benchmarks changing or being inconsistent! I still love the game, of course, just wish we’d either known up-front which prizes would be buildings and which would be decos, or had a way to clear out all our current Hearts, if we decided to earn for the opposite prize–instead of being enabled to continue collecting them in only one direction and then being stuck in this exact situation if we decided we wanted the opposite item.
Anyone else in this predicament, now? I CAN’T BE THE ONLY ONE!!!

I was stacking Love so I got the Bumper Buddies pretty quick when it opened up. For people having troubles with space… this thing is pretty big (9×9). For the time being I had to plop mine where I normally have a street.

I’m with you guys, logged in collected my first PDA Heat and bam some huge building(decoration) popped up. And for the record, I had almost had 200 hearts. I guess the only one we can really save up for is the one before Meg. I was figuring that the buildings would stay on the love side. I’m only after the buildings for the Valentines droppings (I have 6k saved up so far) and that in order to get Meg, we’d need at least 200+ hearts so I was trying to get a good jump on it.

aahhhhh nuts! … I would really like to go for the liquor store but I already collected 72 love points and to switch now I need nearly 150 hate points … I’m no mathematician but at 8 per set and a set every 3 hours … it will take me 57 hours to make the switch … that’s over two days with having to wake up every 3 hours at night! … I think I am committed to the bumper cars now! … Now the question is “do I gamble and continue to collect points after this prize or wait and see what the options are?” … if I wait and the next prise takes 100 points that’s going to take around two days to get … what to do, what to do …

Was at the same point too. They need to post them all so we have choice. Stuck with the same issue too collect or let them sit and not have enough to go either way.

I have a strong feeling that the love/hate prizes will be offered in an event currency box. That way they don’t unbalance the event and your decisions are important, but completionists have the ability to obtain the full collection.

Or this could be the first event that TC realizes that this is going to be a multi-year event and make us wait until next year to go the other way to collect the opposite prize (of course, with a new set of prizes to replace the ones we get this year).
Jeez, I am in evil mode today. Where I am thinking the worst in all situations. ;-P Maybe I need a nap. 😀 😀

I didn’t like not knowing that the love one was a decoration and I had stored up love clicked one person and it says I got Joe’s bumper car thing. It would have been nice to know the buildings were going to change. The first two were won with love. I dislike that everything is always wait and see…especially with this where when it.comes out next I’ll have lots of love hearts again…guess I hope there will be good prizes on that side

As much as I love buildings that make me money I will go with the Bumper cars because the Liquor store looks really depressing and drab.

What if they hate price is something you need to unlock another character and you don’t know it just kind of silly because then if you collect one and then the other one is when you need you have to do double the amount that’s why I think this is a little silly

Yeah I agree with you….. They should let us see what we are playing for. I got the giant decoration that will just sit in my invontory along with all the other decorations (except trees & flowers) plus I don’t have anywhere to put it. Not liking the way tinyco have done this event . I really don’t know what hearts (if any) I should bother collecting
