Hello There Clammers!
It’s Valentine’s Day in our Tiny Quahogs and with this event TinyCo is trying something new…either or prize scenarios.
Within the Affection Meter you’ll find the main prizes for this event. These are prizes you can collect after clearing PDA Couples & earning either Broken Hearts or Love Hearts. Bunny did a great job of breaking down the how-to on the Affection Meter, but many of you are still asking “which prize is right for me?” So now let’s breakdown the prize options for the 3rd set, Joe, so you can choose which one is right for you…
The third Affection Meter prize went live earlier today and many of you may have noticed a drop in your heart totals. If you were over 74 hearts (broken or unbroken) your counter dropped to 74. Why? Because there was a crashing glitch with the game. If you collected over 75 hearts your game would crash once the new prize was released. To counteract that TinyCo pushed a fix that dropped your heart total down to 74. This way you’d be 1 away from the prize, so you could see choose which path you want AND it resolved the glitch.
Here’s some more details from TinyCo on why the heart totals dropped:
Now let’s get into some prize analysis….
To earn either prize for Joe you’ll need a net of 75 hearts. Let’s start with the Hate prize.
Liquid Sorrow Liquor Store- Net 75 .
What does it do?
It’s a building for your Quahog. While no characters will interact with it, it will earn you additional Valentines. How many Valentines? It’ll earn 8 Valentines and 20xp every 4hrs.
Love Prize:
Bumper Buddies Bumper Cars- Net 75
What does it do?
It’s a decoration for your Quahog. Currently it’s not animated, and no characters interact with it.
Update: The Bumper Cars are now animated! Cars are there always now and when tapped they’ll move around…like actual Bumper Cars.
The Verdict/Which Did I Choose?
This round creates a more difficult decision for me. Both prizes look cool, but ultimately I can only choose one. So for this round I went with the Bumper Buddies Bumper Cars. While not animated yet, I’m holding out hope that TinyCo will animate this in the future (similar to other prizes that initially weren’t animated, but eventually got some fun animation). The animation is great, and I’m thrilled TinyCo added it back it! While the liquor store earns more Valentine’s, I felt that ultimately I’d have a hard time fitting it into my Quahog. Where I can put the bumper cars with my items from the Kool-Aid Event & create the carnival/fair area for my town.
Of course that doesn’t mean choosing the Liquor store was a bad call. It’s your decision which path you want to take, we can only suggest based on what we would do…and in this situation I choose the Bumper cars since I felt they’d work best for me in my game.
So what’s next?
Well, at this point only 3 rounds of prizes have been released. So you cannot progress any further than those three rounds. (you can find details about the first two prizes here)
So if you see locks past Joe, don’t freak out. It does not mean your game is broken. EVERYONE is seeing those same locks. They won’t be removed until TinyCo introduces more character prizes.
What Should I Do While Waiting?
It’s really up to you if you want to continue to collect Hearts in-between the rounds.
Here’s my suggestion….think about what prize track you think you’ll want to continue on for the next prize and collect hearts for that track. However, I wouldn’t collect more than 90-95 hearts of that color. My guess is the next prize will cost a net of 100 hearts, so if you collect between 90 and 85 that will keep you close to the next prize, but still give you the choice when they appear to choose between which one you’d want.
Remember if you go over that number just collect the opposite hearts (broken for love or love for broken) to bring the count back down.
Why isn’t my meter moving in either direction?
If you’ve collected both prizes and are collecting hearts in anticipation of the 3rd prize your meter will not move until that prize is released. Why? Because there’s no goal there yet. So the meter has no idea how many hearts the end goal is so it can’t rise or fall based on it. Instead it’ll just stay stagnant in the middle until the next prize is released.
Are you sure I can’t go back and collect the other prize after I’ve already collected them?
Yes, I’m sure. You can only choose 1 prize per character. Once you choose and you’ve claimed that prize you cannot go back and get the other prize. So if you chose Clammy Secrets for Quagmire you cannot go back and get the archery set.

You have to complete each phase to go on to the next. Last one won’t open until My Funny Valentine Part 13 and start Can’t Buy Me Love.

I was at 74 love due to the bug fix and decided I wanted the building instead of the bumper car decoration. I am finally past zero, now at 23 Hate Hearts. I figured I had time to go the other way and collect the 150 hearts to get from one end of the bar to the other. I am thinking the building might be used to drop items for the next unlocked character…much like the Clammy Secrets building from Peter’s Love Prize dropped items to get Ida Davis.
How big is the Bumper Car deco anyway? If it is as big as the Tunnel of Love, no thanks. I am running out of space as it is, and a 10 x 10 deco would just take up too much room. Ultimately it would end up in storage.

Awww! I would have gone for broken hearts for Joe, but I didn’t know as when I had finished the 2nd round, Joe’s items were still unknown!

i must say the only thing that really got me mad was the fact i collect the first (quagmire’s) without really going what was going on…
basically alll i ve got is decorations (which i dont use)
I dont really know how do you sya they let you “choose” i mean besides this page, theres nothing telling you what will earn valentines or not (in the prizes) i really thought both Joe’s were considered “buildings”

I am not mad at the way things turned out. Collecting before the next prize was released was going to be a gamble. Even if the glitch did not happen, the people who collected over 75 hearts would’ve automatically received the bumper cars anyway. Tinyco did not release anything saying the love track was going to be buildings while the hate track was going to be decorations so I don’t understand all these rants. Even the addicts warned everyone to collect ahead at their own risk.

I think I may be alone on this one but I probably won’t get hot Meg since it’s another skin. I’d rather get something I can use and that building look pretty nice. Meg is pretty much useless and I doubt it’s gonna change even if she’s hot. Too many useless skins in this game. New character I would go for but not skin.

As for me, I have the Brookfield Insane Asylum but not Mr Needlez Voodoo Shop. Strangely enough, I don’t even remember the voodoo shop being offered before. 😕 Was it from the Halloween event? Did it cost clams? If it cost clams, that would probably be why I don’t already have it. I prefer to save mine up for premium characters.

I didn’t even get a chance to decide on my “joe” prizes. The minute I got into the game I headed straight for the couples cuz u only got 3 min. Then boom, saw the bumper car. I tried to X it but it went straight to my storage. I kinda wanted the liquor store cuz the bumper cars was boring and not animated. Now it’s great cuz it is and I’m kinda glad I was force into it, hehehe.

LOL i got bumper cars to im not mad about it. what grinds my gears is Arnold does not have a task with the Predator. i would love to see Arnold play fetch with Predator. 🙂 lol

I’ve come to the conclusion that no matter what they put in the opposite box I am not going for anything but HOT MEG! I loved that character the moment I saw her. She will always be in that skin in my game.

75 hearts! I’m no where near even getting prize two! I guess it will help when you have characters generating hearts but I have to say I’m very unimpressed with the PDA couples mechanic. You have 3 minutes to get them – but you need to wait upwards of 30 seconds following them around until they finally stop and reveal what they drop! It’s so annoying, it means you’re lucky to get 4 within the time Window, and then you need to make sure you log back in 3 hours later to get some more, which is not always possible.
Who at Tinyco thought this was a good idea? The two types of PDA couples should not be identical when walking around – either they need to constantly display to the hearts over their head even when walking or they need to be coloured different or something. The current way of doing things is just frustrating and I have to say it’s my least favourite event so far because of it…

Try following more than one couple at a time. Zoom out and if you can keep track of a good few of them you’re sorted. They don’t all snog at the same time so no rush.

Still seems like an unnecessary frustration – especially on Android which is prone to crashing every few minutes, I try not to adjust the zoom too much that just makes it crash quicker.
Which leads to another annoying problem – the PDA couples appear, I complete the quest, the game then crashes on Android, log back into the game that last round of PDA couples didn’t count – but where are they now? If the game crashes they disappear for another few hours, despite the fact the hearts you’ve just collected didn’t count because of the crash!
I can’t be the only Android owner to get constant crashes? Looks like this event has been targeted and IOS players…

Summarizing a response from TinyCo when I had the same issue.
Some phones do not have the memory to keep up with the game (I have the Samsung Note 3) but after I redid my town with essential buildings, my game had ceased crashing.
A tablet may be more than efficient for a fully decorated town.

I don’t understand why everyone is so upset or feels cheated out of a prize… We all knew that no one knew what the next prizes were and it was a gamble to keep collecting hearts, as with the first two prizes you were given them automatically after collecting the set amount of hearts… I’m happy they show the upcoming prizes now, but at the same time it was kind of fun not knowing what was next. Anyway, I love the game and all the fun events tiny co has been putting out.. It keeps things fun and interesting! And thank you for being so quick to update the site! It really helps with the game play! 🙂

i had dropped down to 74 and was happy as wanted to change to building. but changed my mind again and will get bumper decoration next spawn.
happy that we can chose path for rest of event now love hearts all the way for me. hoping kool aid gf has task with kool aid (maybe they will bring him back for those that dont have as prem char) oh yeah 🙂

I missed something. Somewhere. It says I got the bumper car thing, but never got it. It isn’t in my storage. It isn’t on the ground. The check mark is there.

It is more likely considered a decoration so make sure you check the decorations tab in the Inventory. If still not there, contact them.

Question I’m hoping you can answer because I like your advice 🙂 I have 74 hearts. Really don’t want the bumper cars but I do def want the final 3-4 heart prizes. In the time it would take to get 149 broken hearts, get liquor store then start all over again with hearts is it possible to not get the final 3 prizes? If I just miss out on the building now then i will be bummed but I can start building up my heart collection again because I’m assuming the final 3 will each be at least 75+ hearts each and I don’t want to run out of time before the event ends. What you think?

Well I had about 35 towards love when the update hit….I’m justifying that it won’t take that long to get back to zero and start over. I really want the building. I’m probably wasting too much time, but oh well. I’m glad they released the future prizes so we know what to do. After this one, I’m going love all way.

Well, I knew it was a coin flip when I started collecting LOVE hearts for prize #3… I had no idea they would unlock it today! So I tapped one love couple… Boom! Bumper Cars deco. But I don’t feel cheated or whatever, I really like the look of it! The only reason I was gonna steer towards building-prizes was for the extra valentines cards… But I really don’t think that’s gonna be an issue at this point, so I’m satisfied. Also very happy to see the future prize options, even without knowing whether decors/characters/buildings…Though I do admit, the last prize is gonna be tough… I gotta have hot Meg, right? But that unique building… Hmmmm….. ANYhooo… The complainers will trash TinyCo for “unfairness” for making us choose between 2 things we REALLY want, but in the end we’ll all get something cool one way or another, so I do believe everyone needs to just calm down a bit… Maybe later TinyCo will offer the “other” prizes for clams or something. The bumper cars are animated now. I think it’s a pretty cool animation actually so even if it doesn’t earn hearts I’m happy with it. I haven’t checked yet to see if joe interacts with it like chris does with the gym.

Well as we all know, and as predicted, a bunch of us got stuck with the wrong prize before we had a chance to choose. TinyCo hadn’t replied to my message asking them to avoid this since I sent it two days ago, until moments after the new update when they said this:
“Hey there,
I’m sorry for the delay in getting back to you, and even more sorry that this ended up coming true. We’re doing everything we can to resolve this issue. Thanks for your patience in the meantime.”
So they suggest that they will try to make amends, or maybe this means just for prize 4, but in the meantime we are stuck with what we did not want, and no valentines collected from the new building.
(And now in reading the updated post, it says they dropped the hearts down to 74… well I have no idea if that was for everybody and it happened in my game, or if mine stayed above 75 and was automatic. I got no warning about the update until I suddenly had the bumper cars appear. So either I had more than 75, or it dropped it to 74 but I had no way of knowing, and hit a red heart couple when I was trying to touch a character. Either way, it puts a damper on the fun… and fun is why we play the game, no?)

It was for everyone. If it didn’t drop to 74 or less your game would have crashed when the update hit.

Ok…. then the right way to do it would have been to pop up a message saying so. Then everyone who was unaware, would have known they could have prevented getting the prize – and voila, bug or no bug, our request on this issue fulfilled. Unfortunately by simply not providing a pop up message they turned a positive into a negative. Too bad…..

I was collecting hearts since “Hot Meg” is on the heart side, and got burned with the oversized decoration. That was my decision to keep gathering hearts, and it’s just a game so I’m not going to start ranting. I also have played the game since launch, and through the last 5 or so events that are almost the exact same and realize that there will like come a box towards the end that will provide a chance at the other pieces.

Just sent contacted Tinyco telling them how unfair it’s was to spring that update, and how I fell cheated… I guess much like other committed clammers….. I have asked if they will reset the 3rd prize… Wait and see I guess….

I’m kind of ticked they pulled this switch. I really love playing the game but it’s this kind of thing that makes question the amount of money I spend and the time I devote to the game. If they feel the need to do stuff like that then have a pop up and explain it. Now I’m stuck with something I did not want. I should not have to check a fan site before I play their game. Don’t get me wrong I check this site all the time and love it but sometimes I just go in to the game. I just think it’s lame move to do. So now everyone will wait before collecting any hearts and then that puts you in risk of not getting the item because being under the gun for something else.

Tiny Co has now shown us the prizes for the next stages. It looks like the next prize is a choice between two decorations. Is this correct? Then it shows a decoration or a building we got during Halloween. Then it shows hot Meg or a building that we haven’t been able to get yet. Does anyone else see the flaws in this scenario? Why would you do two decorations and then a building we have been offered and a decoration and then a building we don’t have and hot Meg. WTF!!!!!

The previous building offer could be a gift for people who missed it. So if you have it go for the deco.
I am going love for Kool-aid girlfriend (probably deco, hoping for skin or npc) Then hate for asylum, then love again for Meg skin.

Everyone needs to calm down over these prizes and being “cheated” out of a better prize. Am I a little peeved that I chose to collect hearts and then was reward with a HUGE decoration that I have no room for? Sure I am, I would have chosen the building that earns valentines, but I am not going to complain about it. The only prize I care about is the last one and hopefully we will at least get to see what they put up against hot Meg before I start collecting the hearts for her.

I think your best bet is to wait till u see what the prize is then u dont have to back track but if there doing timed release on prizes u should have more then enough time to get the next prize

I got caught in the same boat. I did not want the bumper cars and was planning on going for all buildings (until Hot Meg).
I messaged them and got a generic response about “thank you for writing and helping us make the game better” BS.
My game has updated though and now all the prizes are showing. I just wish they would let me get the other item and not the lame bumper car deco.

Didn’t know if I should bother leaving a comment since I agree with everyone else about getting stuck with a decoration when I would of gone with a building but was pissed enough to finally say something. Way to go tinyco, you’really getting good at making us disappointed!

I hate to be another complainer…but boy am I peeved right now. You can’t win for losing. If you don’t play the game constantly and try to “work ahead”, you risk not being able to complete all tasks/win all prizes. Now, any incentive I had to work ahead is gone because I have no idea what the next prize is and if I want what I’ll earn with the hearts I’m collecting. (I’m one of those souls who got stuck with Joe’s Bumper Cars. I’m not a big fan of decos generally speaking, so I really only wanted the buildings. Thanks for taking my choice away, TinyCo.)

Exactly – I’m lucky to catch it, but now have to get 150 hate to get the building – which will most likely put me behind overall – and have 2 bad feelings = (1) it will put me a few days behind in collecting so I won’t have enough for Hot Meg at the end, and (2) they will end up giving out the Liquid Sorrow Liquor Store another way to “make up” to those who ended up getting the bumper cars (meaning those people will get everything – and I’ll be stuck missing things. I hope I’m wrong……)
