Hello There Clammers!
It’s Valentine’s Day in our Tiny Quahogs and with this event TinyCo is trying something new…either or prize scenarios.
Within the Affection Meter you’ll find the main prizes for this event. These are prizes you can collect after clearing PDA Couples & earning either Broken Hearts or Love Hearts. Bunny did a great job of breaking down the how-to on the Affection Meter, but many of you are still asking “which prize is right for me?” So now let’s breakdown the prizes so you can choose which one is right for you…
First, let’s do a quick recap of the Affection Meter. Remember, Bunny broke it all down in detail here but for those of you that are still confused (or just don’t like to read) here’s a quick recap…
-Collect hearts from Couples to determine which prize you want.
–
= Love Prizes. 
= Hate Prizes.
– If you collect a and then a , they’ll cancel each other out. Giving you a net of 0. So try to only collect the hearts for the prizes you’re going for. (For example if you collect 10 and then 5 , you’ll only have a net gain of 5 , even though you collected 10. Make sense?)
-You can only collect one prize for each character. Some of you are still getting confused with this. Once you claim a prize for a character you cannot go back and get the other prize. It’s a 1 shot deal. So choose wisely!
-After you’ve collected enough hearts for a prize and claimed it, your heart counter will reset back to 0. So you’ll have to start collecting for the next prize starting at 0. (so don’t start collecting a ton of hearts now thinking you’ll be able to use them for Hot Meg. Each time you claim a prize (and it will automatically claim it for you once you reach enough hearts) your counter will reset.)
Ok, so now that we’ve recapped the basics let’s FINALLY break down all the prizes!
Let’s get things rolling with Quagmire and the first set of prizes…
To earn either prize for Quagmire you’ll need a net of 15 hearts. Let’s start with the Hate prize.
Crimes of Passion Archery Set- Net 15 .
What does it do?
It’s a decoration for your Quahog. No characters will use it and it’s fairly small. Good prize if you like decorations and/or are into archery.
Love Prize:
Clammy Secrets- Net 15
What does it do?
It’s a building for your Quahog. While no characters will interact with it, it will earn you additional Valentines. How many Valentines? It’ll earn 8 Valentines and 20xp every 8hrs.
Clammy Secrets will also occasionally drop Hormone Pills for Ida… 
The Verdict/Which Did I Choose?
For this round I went with Clammy Secrets. The bonus of the Valentines plus the chance to drop more Hormone Pills far outweighed the Archery Set for this round in my opinion.
Of course that doesn’t mean choosing the Archery Set was a bad call. It’s your decision which path you want to take, we can only suggest based on what we would do…and in this situation I choose Clammy Secrets.
Now let’s take a look at Peter’s prizes…
To earn either prize for Peter you’ll need a net of 50 hearts. Let’s start with the Hate prize.
Cool Your Jets Hot Tub- Net 50 .
What does it do?
It’s a decoration for your Quahog. No characters will use it but it is animated (it will bubble like an actual Hot Tub). Good prize to fit in someone’s backyard.
Love Prize:
Wicked Cocoa Chocolatier- Net 50
What does it do?
It’s a building for your Quahog. While no characters will interact with it, it will earn you additional Valentines. How many Valentines? It’ll earn 8 Valentines and 20xp every 8hrs.
The Verdict/Which Did I Choose?
For this round I went with the Cool Your Jets Hot Tub. Personally I wanted the Hot Tub for the look of it & right now it’s in Peter’s Backyard. I wanted to mix it up a bit, instead of just collecting buildings, and I thought this was a good prize to break it up with.
Of course that doesn’t mean choosing the Wicked Cocoa building was a bad call. It’s your decision which path you want to take, we can only suggest based on what we would do…and in this situation I choose the hot tub.
So what’s next?
Well, at this point only 2 rounds of prizes have been released. So you cannot progress any further than those two rounds.
So if you see locks past Peter, don’t freak out. It does not mean your game is broken. EVERYONE is seeing those same locks. They won’t be removed until TinyCo introduces more character prizes. And based on the number of locks/levels it looks like there will be 2 prizes per phase. So when phase 2 hits, which will happen on Thursday February 12th, two more prizes should open up.
And yes….we know Hot Meg is there, but you can’t get to her yet. It’s TinyCo’s way of giving you a little teaser about what’s to come when the event ends…
What Should I Do While Waiting?
It’s really up to you if you want to continue to collect Hearts in-between the rounds.
Here’s my suggestion….think about what prize track you think you’ll want to continue on for the next prize and collect hearts for that track. However, I wouldn’t collect more than 70-74 hearts of that color. My guess is the next prize will cost a net of 75-100 hearts, so if you collect between 70 and 80 that will keep you close to the next prize, but still give you the choice when they appear to choose between which one you’d want.
Remember if you go over that number just collect the opposite hearts (broken for love or love for broken) to bring the count back down.
Note: There’s a chance that the heart counts could reset when Phase 2 comes out (much like the reset back to 0 in-between each character). I’m waiting (and hoping) for confirmation from TinyCo to see if this will happen or if hearts collected in-between phases will count for the 3rd prize. Once I receive word back I will update this post with it. But until then, collect at your own risk and know that it’s possible the counter could reset back to 0 before the 3rd prize is released. Just received word back from TinyCo that it will NOT reset once the next phase hits. So any hearts you collect between Prize 2 and Prize 3 will be able to go towards Prize 3 once that phase hits. However, I cannot stress this enough…DO NOT GO ABOVE 70-74 HEARTS. This will ensure you’ll still get a choice when the new prize is released, so you can still decide between love/hate. More details will be coming about this shortly.
Why isn’t my meter moving in either direction?
If you’ve collected both prizes and are collecting hearts in anticipation of the 3rd prize your meter will not move until that prize is released. Why? Because there’s no goal there yet. So the meter has no idea how many hearts the end goal is so it can’t rise or fall based on it. Instead it’ll just stay stagnant in the middle until the next prize is released.
Are you sure I can’t go back and collect the other prize after I’ve already collected them?
Yes, I’m sure. You can only choose 1 prize per character. Once you choose and you’ve claimed that prize you cannot go back and get the other prize. So if you chose Clammy Secrets for Quagmire you cannot go back and get the archery set.

Since they didn’t warn me that Joe’s meter had unlocked I got stuck the deco. They should have had a popup letting us check out the prizes and give us a choice to reset the meter like someone said earlier. Since they didn’t and a lot of players ended up stuck with a deco, they could at least offer the building in the store for valentines cards or a few clams.

Strangely I was on about 130 love hearts, logged in to find the 3rd prize was available, checked my love heart level and it had gone down to 74!
Think I’m going to go with the bumper cars still, I know it’s only a deco but I have a little waterfront Park going on with bob’s funland, tunnel of love and a few other bits so some bumper cars will fit in a treat!

Ok so I seen that joe is ready for the next prize so I went to the red hearts side cause u said on here the building would always be on the red side so now I have 74 they took some of mine away but I want the broken heart prize should I try to get that or stay with the red side will I have time to take the meter the other way and not mess it up so I can get hot Meg at the end of the list let me know what u think ASAP need to find out what I am doing ASAP

Woah woah woah….when did we say the building will always be on the love side? We never said that. We said that for the first 2 prizes the building was on the love side, but no one knew what the prizes after that would be.
And you can choose what prize you want for each character. So you can choose the hate prize this time (just collect broken hearts to counteract the love hearts) and then the love prize next time. For each set of prizes you have the choice of going love or hate. What you do now should not impact your next prize.

I can’t believe I just got screwed with a decoration for joe and am going to miss out on the building. They really should have told us what the prizes were for everyone instead of letting us blindly collect hearts. I wrote a complaint to tinyco in game. Hopefully they will undue this tragedy.

I’m super frustrated with my Joe prize. I would ALWAYS pick a building over a decoration, there is a big chance they will help collecting stuff in the next round and I prefer them for my town. Decos go to my inventory almost instantly, I have zero space for them. I just kept collecting hearts because I thought that was the way to go and got awarded the bumper cars before I even realized it was there. Would have switched over to hate otherwise… My bad, I guess. From now on, I just don’t click the couples anymore. Damn!

so annoyed with tiny co right now. All the characters past Peter griffin in the affection meter are locked so I can see whether I want to go love or hate. I’ve been collecting nothing but love , because they’ve been buildings . Well I magically hit a 100+ love amount and was rewarded with a @&$?!$? decoration instead of a building . I would had gone for hate had I know that it was a building . That really pisses me off . Show me the damn prizes already.

I don’t want a bulky cumbersome decoration, I want buildings. I hope this liquor building doesn’t have any important drops.

After reading this I think I’m gonna get a few broken hearts, as I’ve collected 99 Love Hearts and think what you guys have suggested is safest. For the prizes so far I’ve gone with both love prizes, Clammy Secrets because it earns currency and because it helped earning Pills for Ida, and I went with Wicked Cocoa Chocolatier because it helps earn event currency, I like the look of it, and just incase it helps earn materials for Glenda Vajmire, or next weeks character.

On another note, I can’t help but wonder what the top Hate prize will be, as we know that the Love prize will be Hot Meg, I just hope it’s not gonna be another character/outfit as that would mean missing out on one of them.

Argh! Had 100 or so love hearts so they bumped me down to 74, which is fine, but then the building (which I’d prefer) is on the hate side, so I’m in the hole now. So much for trying to get ahead and be ready. Oh well, Every three hours or so, and you can catch up pretty easy.

Just to clarify love is bumper buddies bumper carts and I was wrong its a decoration NOT a building. The hate is Liquid Sorrow liqueur store and its a building. If I would’ve know the prizes I would’ve gone with hate however I’m happy with this unique deco.

Just got Joe’s love prize. It’s a bumper cars decoration, and it’s enormous. The hate prize was a liquor store. I figured that the hate prize would be a decoration, and the love prize would be a building, as in the previous two. So if you want the building that pays out in valentines, start collecting hate hearts now. Personally, I’m upset that I ended up with the giant, useless bumper cars decoration. Much rather would have gotten the liquor store. I thought we had until the 12th for the new prizes to hit. I wish they would have shown me the prize choices before they just went ahead and stuck it in my inventory.

This may not be the right place to ask. However, searching hasn’t turned up my answer. Do you know how to contact Tinyco via email? I have been getting an error message trying to play on Samsung phone since last night. “Sorry! The application Family Guy (process.com.tinyco.familyguy) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again”. Have tried restarting phone and checking for update in App Store with no luck. Almost done with Handsome Peter. And still can’t transfer to iPad for months, so can’t play. Thanks for all you do!

I went with both the love options. I cleared out the top half of my tiny little Quahog to add all the cool new stuff from this event. I’ve collected about 70 love hearts so far but I’m stopping there since we are unsure of what’s to come. I’m alittle nervous what will be the hate option against Meg. I’m sure they will both be awesome and we only get to choose one😁

Did TC tell you that the hearts reset to zero between prizes? If not, what are you basing this assumption on? We haven’t had a situation where it has been possible to over collect heart’s because as soon as you got 15 of one type they were used to purchase Glenn’s prize thus zeroing your total. The same for Peter at 50. It wasn’t like you were given the option to skip Quagmire to get Peter’s prize first. So it may be possible to say collect 150 hearts, then if next prize is 100 hearts be left with 50 left over for 4th prize.

The hearts reset between each prize…read the Affection Meter instructions box (in the post above). The 3rd one says “after you help a character the affection meter will reset and move onto the next love story”
Reset to me means 0. Of course we won’t 100% for sure know what happens until phase 2 hits, but whenever something says reset that generally means back to 0/start.

The meter did actually reset already after Peter’s prize. So we’ve been working the meter back up from zero since then. That doesn’t mean TinyCo won’t reset it again for the next phase, but technically that rule has already been met.
I didn’t get a reply but a couple days ago I messaged TinyCo to ask them to deal with this fairly so we don’t all get upset when we get the prize we don’t want. Either have an option to confirm, a choice to reset to zero, or other way so people aren’t penalized for just doing what they allowed us to do – collect more and more hearts. Hopefully they will offer a solution.

The affection Meter is not the same as one’s heart count is it? Right now our heart count is still going up, but our affection meter is stuck at 0. I’m not counting on keeping extra hearts, but who knows.
Either way these dual prizes are ridiculous and I hope Tiny Co. never does something like this again.

affection meter is just showing you how close you are to the next prize. Since there’s no new prize it won’t move…even though your heart count goes up or down. Once there’s a third prize it’ll start moving again

You shouldn’t have, you can’t get Peter with out Quagmire. Go into your Affection Meter and check to see which prize is checked off under Quagmire. It might be in your inventory

Soo.. i have 130 hearts now. . Already have both prizes. That means no matter what as soon as they release the next prize I’m getting the one i have 130 hearts for, then meter goes to zero? Or meter will go to zero when they release the next prize giving me a choice of which to go for first? .. if the first option i wonder if i should start farming the opposite hearts to bring me down to zero. .

Check your prize track, see if it’s checked off. If it is then contact TinyCo and let them know it’s gone missing.

They should be in your inventory. Check under Buildings and decorations. Make sure you’re checking your inventory & not your store…it’s been known to happen a time or two 😉

Still don’t see them in my inventory, I’m not looking in my store. Contacting TinyCo seems worthless, I did before and it took them 2 months to answer me unsatisfactorily.

Double check the town. Go to the movement screen and look behind every building. Also, the placement of items in Inventory is very odd. Items are mostly grouped by Event… but then there are some that are tucked in between strange places. I know I had to scan my inventory REALLY slow to find all mine in there. Buildings and Decorations tabs. I must have gone past them 6 times before finally realizing where they were.
If all else fails… there is always the Nuke Option. Store it all, then look for them if you don’t want to contact TinyCo for help.

Honestly, if the collected heart counters go back to zero instead of counting towards the next prize, it will be a bit of a kick in the teeth. Why have the PDAs in the game in between phases if they serve no purpose? They’re making my Santa sick (or he could be gorging on cookies, but still, you see my point…) 😉

Aaaaaand, they switched. Had over 90 red hearts, now 74. Gonna take some time to clear 74 red hearts and earn 75 purple. So happy. -_- Wish I had just ignored the PDA couples now…. I’m going for the building bc there’s a chance it might help with unlocking other characters. I kinda feel like they enjoy punishing us for thinking we can use any strategy in this game. Lol

I opened my game this afternoon to discover I automatically received Joe’s love prize of a deco instead of a potentially helpful bulding on hate side. So a little peeved yeah, but I learned to leave them alone until they decide to release the prize next time.

I know you said that there is a possibility that the hearts will reset once phase 2 is unlocked, but I am hedging a bet (would even put money on it) that it won’t happen. When I collected my last item of phase 1 the conversation bubble said that even though we’d finished getting those items, people of Quahog will still need our help and to continue on.
Unless they do a ‘conversion’ switch on us when the other buildings open and we require purple and red arrows, or some such … I can’t see that happening. I think the hearts are here to stay for the duration of the game. Besides, with most people Arnold will probably not be available to unlock for a couple of days, yet and his actions produce either love or hate hearts.

I chose both buildings. I feel like the buildings help me out more plus they still look cool. I’m also assuming that when the event is over the buildings will drop coins instead of HV, so that seems like a win/win to me.

I kind of regret not getting the hot tub. I’ve never run short on the events and tend to have a stockpile of event currency, but I am real short on space. I liked both buildings, but if the buildings would have been swapped around that would have made me happier. I liked both of the second level prizes and felt meh about the first round.

I went with the Archery Set purely because there were no guarantees the building would be resized to the correct scale. In such a case, I wouldn’t use the building. Plus when I move things a bit it will go with
my LARPing forest…can extend that out a bit.
Being a fan of my local chocolatier – and Ghiradelli – my mind was already pretty much made up but the building is also beautiful. Having the other hot tub already, I didn’t feel a need for a second just yet.
Not knowing what the prizes are for round 3, I’ll wait and see before gathering any more. Don’t want to commit yet and be working towards the wrong goal.
