Firefighter Event Clarifications

Hey there Pyromaniacs!

Bouncing by with some help and clarifications on “issues” we keep seeing pop up in the comments section for the Firefighters Event. Firefighters Event

MISSING GAS CANS

Gas Can

I am seeing more comments of players stating they are “missing Gas Cans”. In speaking with TinyCo as well as players with this “issue” there seems to be a reoccurring theme…

The Gas Cans are used in THREE places.

Sexy Firefighter Chris MenuSexy Firefighter Chris: Requires 20 Gas Cans

Train Fire CaptainFire Captain: Requires 2 Gas Cans per Training

Train Fire Chief UnlockedFire Chief: Requires 2 Gas Cans per Training

As you can see, Gas Cans are not only used for Chris, but also to Train the Fire Captain/Chief to use against the Fire Creatures. Those messaging in to TinyCo as well as commenting here are found to be using the Gas Cans to Train a Fire Captain/Chief, so it will change the amount available for Chris as 2 Gas Cans are taken to Train each time.

So you need to make a choice, are you going to Train? Or are you going to get Chris? If you want Chris, earn all the other items you need for Chris first then focus on getting enough Gas Cans for him and do NOT Train any Captains/Chiefs until you have unlocked Chris. Every time you Train a Captain/Chief that total will drop by 2 Gas Cans used for Training.

MISSING BRUSH FIRES

Brush Fire 2Brush Fire 2

The amounts of Brush Fires in each Players town will vary, so you may not get the same as your neighbor. That being said, I am seeing reports of Players “missing” their Brush Fires.

Speaking with TinyCo, we are seeing a reoccurring theme on this one too… a patch of sidewalk that is blocked or unknown/forgotten by player where the Brush Fires are hanging out.

What does this mean? Well the Brush Fires are there in your town, just may be hidden by a very tall building or decorations. So how do you locate this? Use your movement menu. Tap on the Movement Menu Icon…

Movement Menu Icon

You will be taken to the screen where you can move objects around as well as add and/or remove sidewalks. In this screen you can essentially see THROUGH Buildings. That means you can now see a patch of Sidewalk you may not be able to see in Regular Game Mode. Those Brush Fires may be hiding there. Like in the image below, the sidewalk piece can’t be seen behind the tall building. Neither can any smoke plumes from the Brush Fires. So make sure there are no hidden spots you are missing. Hidden Sidewalk

You can see in the next photo how only the smoke is barely visible behind the Brewery. The sidewalk behind it makes it really difficult to see the smoke. Hidden Brush Fire

Another “issue” I see personally in my town, well… it is not so much an “issue”. More an “illusion”. The Brush Fires tend to “stack” on top of each other. In other words it appears as though there is only one Brush Fire in this picture. In fact, there are 10.Brush Fires Hidden

You will not know until you tap it though just how many are stacked on top of each other. Just look at how many Fire Extinguishers pop out.

Brush Fire Fire Extinguishers

In this next picture you can see more Brush Fires. Depending on where you look, the top of the smoke makes it appear there are only 5. Closer observation on the sidewalk shows a count of 7. But tapping on it showed even MORE. 10 total were in this grouping. Brush Fires Hidden 1

So don’t let the illusion of “not that many” fool you. Tap and keep tapping until you see no more smoke billowing up in a spot. Use your movement menu to locate ALL your sections of sidewalks and make sure you remove them. It is better for all aspects of the game to keep sidewalks in locations you can easily view them and not hidden behind buildings and decorations.

CREATURES DROPPING COINS

This one is a bit different. It depends on what YOUR Material counts are in the game on what you will see.

Angry Fire CreatureFire AxeAngry Fire Creature: Fire Captain Battles them and in the end you get a Fire Axe. Since right now you need Fire Axes for ONLY unlocking Chris And 3rd Firepole, once you get all you need the drops will change to Coin Only drops. Clear Angry Fire Creature Coin

The next two Fire Creatures are a lil different…

Crazed Fire CreatureJaws of Life 1Crazed Fire Creature: Fire Captains Battle them and in the end you get a Jaws of Life. They are needed right now for the Rupert Mystery Box ONLY. A total of 6 Jaws of Life for each one. Once you hit a TOTAL of 6, the Extreme Creature will stop dropping them and turn to coins. So watch closely. Don’t Battle them at this point. Open a Jaws of Life Mystery Box first. Clear out the 6 Jaws of Life. Then the Crazed Fire Creature will go back to dropping Jaws of Life and you can start the collection for 6 again. Jaws of Life Mystery Box

Extreme Fire Creature 1Fire Chief HatExtreme Fire Creature: Fire Chief Battles them and in the end you get a Fire Chief Hat. They are needed right now for the Rupert Mystery Box ONLY. A total of 6 Fire Chief Hats for each one. Once you hit a TOTAL of 6, the Extreme Creature will stop dropping them and turn to coins. So watch closely. Don’t Battle them at this point. Open a Fire Chief Hat Mystery Box first. Clear out the 6 Fire Chief Hats. Then the Extreme Fire Creature will go back to dropping Fire Chief Hats and you can start the collection for 6 again. Fire Chief Hat Mystery Box

To recap, the Orange Angry Fire Creature will switch to Coin Drops once all the Fire Axes are gathered. The Purple Crazed Fire Creature and Blue Extreme Fire Creature will only turn to Coin Drops temporarily until you open a Rupert Mystery Box.

FYI: This will also apply to Fire Dog Brian’s Task to drop Fire Chief Hats. If you already have 6, he will only drop coins. The task also will not even show Fire Chief Hats on it til you open a Mystery Box and clear the count back to zero again. So do not tap the Check Mark to complete his task until you reset those counts.Fire Dog Brian Missing Fire Chief Hat

WHEN DOES IT END?

As in our Main Firefighters post, in the FAQ of the game, in numerous pop ups in the game, and all over FG:TQFS Facebook & Twitter… the end date is still the same…

WEDNESDAY MAY 27TH, 2015. 3PM PACIFIC TIME

This means there is still a week and still MORE to come in the game.

  2. Um, ya… I’ve found that TinyCo’s instructions can be cryptic and they tend to change up their explanations mid trip. I don’t mean to say they’re changing their rules, but the graphics used on splash screens. It’s super confusing and a bit convoluted trying to keep up with their intent. I’ve also experienced missing, confusing or incomplete instructions in their “help” section.

Other than confusion and subterfuge so we’ll have a hard time, waste time, spend clams and money, I don’t see a reason for the do this, then that, then turn around five times, spin pates, wait ten hours then you might get a prize theory for game play. KISS.

Also… unless I missed it there’s no mention in this post about Seamus needing the two Jaws of Life in addition to the Mystery Boxes.

  3. I’ve read through all these posts and still don’t get how I train 3 firefighters for the large building fire. I train 2 and they just stay in the academy until I use them. Do I HAVE to pay the 150 clams to open a 3rd pole just to do it? If so, they can forget about it.

  4. i haven´t seen a single purple fire creature in my town yet. only the red ones that give the axe, and the blue ones i can´t smack as a freemium player. guess i can´t get the sheamus fire fighter outfit 😦

    • Where are you on questlines? Unlock Chris yet? If so, finish Part 7 and they come after that.

  5. What the…? I have three gas cans left for chris’ outfit. Trained three fire fighters, tapped one burning building, went to tap another building and the game told me I had no fire fighters?! I had three just a minute ago! And to top it of I didn’t even get a gas can from the building I saved, I got a fire alarm… So I guess now burning buildings require three fire fighters, and I can’t get anymore gas cans for Chris?

  6. Could you do a run through of what is in the mystery box? I got one box bc I had extra jaws of life, and got the ‘hunka burnin love’ which appears to be a building w rent & xp. I assumed all box items were just decorations, so I was pleasantly surprised…but what about the rest of em? Just decs? Worth collecting jaws of life or no?

  7. I just checked my game, and Seamus the Firefighter is now able to be unlocked by finding stuff.

But now I have yellow fire alarms on big buildings that my regular fire fighters can’t handle. When I hit train from the alarm, I don’t get any “big building/yellow alarm” choice for training. ??? The same buildings used to burn with red alarms and the regular guys always could put the fire out. Can’t see anything in the support faq.

    Like

    • Now three of my identical Average Office Buildings are on fire- two with red alarms and one with the yellow alarm. Curiouser and curiouser. Is this a glitch or a feature?

      Like

    • Must have something to do with Seamus- one item needed to unlock him is a round smoke detector, and when I hit the yellow alarms it also says (in addition to something about a big building) that it always drops those smoke detectors.

    • I sent Tiny a message in the game and they say three of the regular yellow guys are needed to put out the big building/yellow alarm fires.

    • It’s clearly explained in game that you need 3 firefighters to put out the big fires. Unlock the third pole and train 3 of them.

      Like

      • There were no clear explanations in my game (iOS version). They still haven’t updated the in-game faq or the info within the training academy. They just need to provide a little more information in those spots. The only thing I see is the /3 thing before the Ready button, but that’s not actually a “clear explanation” at all. I didn’t know what it meant until they told me I needed three regular firefighters, then I figured it out. At the academy, they didn’t even have the yellow alarms indicated as something the firefighters could fight against (just the red alarms). I’ve only been playing this particular game a few weeks, so I don’t know if this approach is so standard in their events that long time players instantly understood it. But there was nothing here about it at the time I asked and nothing in the game to explain it. The assignment of red and yellow alarms to the exact same buildings made me wonder if it was actually an error. The game needs to stand alone with better explanations of basic game play within the game, that’s all. Just a little bit more in the academy info area is all that would be needed. Their faqs also need some work and need to be updated more frequently. It’s not hard to write “you need three firefighters to put out a yellow alarm fire, one firefighter for a red alarm fire”, for example. Or do it in pictures as in the academy info sheet.

        • Tap on the building. It say #/3. Meaning you need 3 to do it.

Same with the other Firefighters. If you tap on the Creatures or Red Alarms, they will all say how many needed on the last number. The amount you have is the first number.

The info was here, you were just looking at this post and not the same one.

It is also in your game and was as soon as the new content launched in the FAQ section of your game. Sorry if you missed it, but it is always there to help. Our info is just more thorough on our posts.

As far as at the Academy, it shows under them when they are done training what they can fight. There are two house images. One with the smaller fires, the other with the larger ones. (Screenshots in the Fire Academy post here too.)

          • The faq was definitely not updated to explain the yellow alarms when I wrote my query. That was the first place I looked. I looked again a while later, and it still had not been updated. I always close the game and relaunch, and did so several times. In any case, since the notice about Seamus came through to my game, the faq should have been updated at the same time but it wasn’t. I checked later, still no update, so I told Tiny about it in-game. I think there was just a lag, maybe different on different systems, or in different regions if they run different servers (like Google gives different hits for people in different areas of the U.S. because different servers come into play – verified when I was on the phone with an editor and we both googled the same term at the same time). I couldn’t find an update on this site either until later – I looked for that also. I must have just hit it when the change first happened.

The /3 in the train/ready box may be obvious to a long-time player, but it wasn’t obvious to me (have played computer/video games for decades, but this one for only a few weeks). I hadn’t run into anything that required knowing that yet, everything so far had needed just one guy. The updated faq would have solved my problem instantly, but they might consider putting a few words somewhere in the train/ready box such as “you need 3 firefighters”. Great though this site is, no one should need to leave the game to figure out basic gameplay. It’s a common failing with games, though, they tend to assume social players (who have game-playing friends and can easily ask a friend in realspace) but really should make it possible for a solitary player to understand easily. Tiny has the right framework set up in the support section in-game, they just need to be a little quicker with updates.

By the way, the info inside the training academy still indicates that the yellow firefighters just fight red alarms (that’s the only icon attached to them). That was part of my puzzlement, since I expected to see something about the yellow alarms. So I assumed a new type of firefighter would be needed, never would have realized three yellows would be needed. The yellow and red alarms are just shifting around aimlessly and interchangeably from building to building now, so I’m ignoring the yellow alarms (let ’em burn!) and just training one regular guy plus two captains for jaws of life. If I wait long enough, a yellow alarm turns into a much more useful and cost-effective red alarm that produces a gas can using only one firefighter …. 🙂 Once Seamus is unlocked and smoke detectors are no longer needed, the yellow alarms just drop $10 at a cost of three firefighters.

  13. I’m really enjoying this event, I’ve got Chris’ Firefighter outfit, and brought Fire Dog Brian. I’ve also got over 1000 extinguishers, and around 20 gas cans, plus I only need one more prize from the Mystery Boxes and I’ve got them all. Now I’m just waiting for them to add the final outfit.

  15. Nice post as always and thanks for the heads up on when you get six jaws of life. I am one away and was planning on opening the box almost immediately once I got six. It took me two times to realize I needed two captains to defeat the monster.

  17. I am one of those effected by the missing brushfires. I know that they were not hidden. They just weren’t there. I messaged TinyCo in game at 930AM that I had not seen any brushfires in 15 hours. At 2PM, I started to see them. I’ve put out more than 30 fires since then. I believe it was a glitch and needed a patch. Thank you for fighting the good fight for us. Ready for the next phase. Bring on Seamus.

    • Are their timers done at the Academy? What are you tapping exactly? Each Firefighter goes to a specific Creature or Building.

      • I go to the academy. Do two one hour fire fighters. Wait the hour. Come back. Click a burning house. It asks me to train again.

        • I got that part, but what do you see in the Fire Academy itself? Is there a check mark on it? Do you release them to go fight the fires? If you tap on it, do you see the two you sent standing in the Fire Academy on the poles ready to go? No longer a timer on them?

  19. So far I am fairly unimpressed by this event. Seems poorly planned after Star Trek. Maybe it is just me. Have Firefighter Chris and not bothering with Brian. Prizes in the mystery box not really doing it for me either. Fire effects are at least cool.

    Like

    • It is a slow one. What I think players needed after Star Trek. To get a chance to take your time in the game. Catch your breath. Reorganize. No rushed feeling. Work at your own pace. More will come for this event. It is not over. It is only a mini 2 week event. Star Trek was a full blown Event that lasted over 45 days. It was massive. 😉

  21. Any idea if Fire Dog Brian’s task that drop fire hats stops dropping fire hats once you’ve collected 6 fire hats?

    Like

    • Yes. His tasks will actually even stop showing the Hats as a Material dropping for completing the task. So watch the totals. Just tap on the italic “i” in Menu Mystery Box next to the Fire Chief one. It will expand and show you the current count. Don’t tap on Brian’s check mark to complete the task or battle any creatures if you are at 6. Open the box first.

Once the Box is opened, it will zero out the count and you can start collecting another 6 again.

many a good idea for a future update. Make that we can help our neighbors. Whith fire’s our other stuff. Not only getting coins from buildings but also from helping. For the rest it’s a great game keep it up.

    • They used neighbors for the Christmas Event. It was helpful, but may players are still fighting option to link Facebook to the game. Myself… I would prefer we lean on neighbors more to help out on Events. I personally think it adds more to a community feel.

      • I liked it. Gave a better excuse to check out neighbors towns see their updates and get a chance at mini prizes or another small amount of clams. They need to bring that back.

      • I would like to have neighbors too, but I just think they should do it “in game” or something. I don’t see why everything has to go through facebook. Its insane. I will never use it, its a tool of the government…wake up!! ahh but I digress.
Actually I was just thinking it would be cool to be able to trade items with people. So…I’m trading my valentine archery set, 25 beer rivers and my American Dad billboard, for a lobster shanty and a borg kitten….any takers?:)
