I went in my game and Peter had a ! over him. I tapped to see what it was. Ends up its a 24 hr timed offer for Death. I assume me placing him triggered it, but still waiting for word back on exact trigger point. CONFIRMED… Placing house triggers it
I also triggered the Weekly Challenge too by getting Death unlocked.

DEATH AT THE DOOR 24HR CHALLENGE
Questline Death at the Door. Requires you to unlock Death in 24hrs and you’ll get a Bonus Balloon task.
I hadn’t focused on him much so it would take me 1200+ Clams to unlock him. For sake of info and the site… I bit the bullet and bought him out.
It unlocked an 8hr Task that ALWAYS drops
Holy Water Baloons.
UPDATE 10/3: As many of you seem to be missing this point… I am now going to be putting the sentence in my post originally in BOLD and in RED…
So if not a big deal for you… take your time and save your Clams. You have till end of Event to unlock him.
THIS IS ONLY A BONUS FOR 1 TASK. AS STATED RIGHT ABOVE THIS… YOU HAVE TIL END OF EVENT TO GET HIM STILL.
Think of the MANY MANY MANY Timed Bonus Offers TinyCo drops to “Buy Clams to get Materials”, “Buy Items to get a Free Costume”, Etc. IT IS JUST A BONUS. NOTHING MORE. It will NOT change the Character’s ability to be unlocked normally during the Event if you pass on the offer.

I’m at 44/45 unholy nuns for the weekly challenge and the game hasn’t spawned any at all this evening so I tried rushing the spawn with clams spending like 100 and now I’m out of clams and have about 30 vampires running around and still no nuns with 7 hours left only on the timer. Now I wasted all this time and money and won’t even get this stupid task competed. I tried reporting it to tiny co but they likely won’t get it in time either. Uuuggghhhhh I hate this game sometimes!!

I have a question. I am still busy completing the ‘get 45 nuns’ challenge, but vampires already started spawning as well and I see less and less nuns… Are there still nuns spawning? Or is it too late for me to complete the quest now?

I just noticed today that if you have Murder Point, Joe has a task “Look for Murderers” 4hr that also gives you Holy Water Balloons now.

I was really worried, because I had intended to store up balloons before triggering the 36 hour nun destruction challenge, but accidentally triggered it unthinkingly with only a 3 nuns stored and no stored balloons. But here I am a couple days later, and only 3 nuns away from hitting the challenge, with 19 hours still on the clock. Not a clam spent, not a minute of sleep missed! I have seen this a few times with some of the challenges, where if you just work at a goal, in my case, trying to earn enough reels to purchase both the pumpkin tower and slasher cat, you end up completing the challenge, or earning the materials you need. Cool beans!

Hmm so I would have to spend around 1300 clams to unlock death, making him by FAR the most expensive character yet… and only for the ability for one more character to do baloons… I’m sorry.. no.. just no. I don’t have a problem with forking up 1300 clams if it’s really worth it but seriously.. baloons??

Alright, so clicking on peter after you put death’s house down triggers the 24hr quest…but what if I hold off on clicking peter and just collect death’s items freely until I am ready to start the timer? Or will the quest automatically appear after so long? Thanks Bunny 🙂

As long as you in no way trigger it. Any taps on Peter will. Including clearing him from another task. So it’s tricky

But wanted to check about hitting the nuns is everyone the same as me that only 1 balloon will hit 1nun and No more
Just I tried for a while tapping them to turn them etc until I got 3 in the circle 2 of the nuns were practically on each other yet still only 1 would turn purple and die.
I thought maybe it would be like previous events where you can blast a few at a time with 1 hit.

Wouldn’t it be possible to place Death’s house, but not trigger the 24 hour challenge until you’re ready? All you have to do is keep from tapping the ‘!’ and collect the items you need in the meantime. There are other way to set Peter on a task besides tapping directly on him.

Not a visual, indoor. I assume that anyone else will still get the task, just not the added drop feature. I won’t know until I get feedback from other Players.

You have Mort’s balloon task listed as Always, but mine says Chance and AT LEAST once today he did not drop balloons, but it may have been twice.

They are Always. If they do not drop Always alert TinyCo from your game ASAP.
As for the “Chance” that is just a default message. As many of these material very from Always to Extra Rare, their tasks and buildings will say “Chance” to let you know there is a Material with a drop rate inside. Nothing more. 😉

Bummer about Deaths water task. I’m not gonna pay that. We have 5 people that get them every 5 hours. More than enough to get the 45 unholy nuns killed in 3 days.
So Death is on the back burner for now, besides there is no way to get him in 24 hours or less with out using clams. We don’t even have all of the buildings he needs for the drops yet.

I tend to find that the first ‘ingredient’ or currency from an event is useful in large quantities for only the first week. With Joe’s Car Wash only paying out one and a bit per day, it’s only good for about 45 Holy water or about 3 clams each, and only 10 while they are useful.
At near 1500 clams, Death can only farm you about 3 a day for a total of maybe 100, or 15 clams each. Given that as the guest of honour he should be quite busy, that number will come down. Alot.
I tried to figure a way to game the challenge for free, but thanks to you ladie’s requirements breakdown, I can’t see it being possible. Even if you could you’d be behind in other tasks by avoiding buying any of the other Projection Booth goodies.
Thanks for the tip-off. You probably saved a lot of people a lot of clams.

Anyone else having the issue where the unholy water balloons aren’t killing the nuns but is still taken out of inventory? A LOT of time wasted today to have 7 not kill them. I’m now out 70 popcorn tubs…and starting to be out of patience with this game and all the bugs.

I just earned Deaths Moms House earlier today, and I don’t think it’s worth the Clam price to get him just for an 8hr task to get Water Baloons, as I already have 5 characters and Joes Car Wash earning them, so I’m gonna pass on this one. I also only need 2 more Funny Cigarettes for Slasher Bait Peter, so I’ll be starting the challenge soon, and it sound like it’s not going to be too difficult to get this one done.

I highly suggest to do so. Make it go faster. Keep in mind the Nuns spawn tines and amounts by tapping on Movie Screen. It’ll give you an idea of how long you’ll have to wait for 45 to spawn. So also let them stack up in your town to at least 12

I apologize in advance, but I am thoroughly confused, lol. According to the help and support info from within my game, it says users have until the end of the event to collect items for Death, and never mentions anything about a 24hr limited time to earn things for his unlock. I trust you, and I’m sure there was indeed a timer in your game for him, but do you think they will change that to reflect the information they supplied in the FAQs? I’m not quite to the point of placing Death’s Mom’s house yet, but there are lots of items to collect for Death including extra rare scythes, not to even mention the “no-seconds-lost” 8 hour tasks for Peter to complete thrice. I would LOVE to have him in my game as you have him, but with only 600+ clams, I will never be able to combo earn/purchase him either, lol. I sent a message to TinyCo, and still awaiting a response…..just wondering if you had any more clarification on this? THANK you SO much for ALL you do, Bunny! You’re definitely sweet like honey! 🙂

You are confusing two separate items. As it says in this post. This is ONLY for a Bonus 8hr Balloon task. Nothing more. You do NOT have to do the Challenge. You still have all Event to unlock him. Hence why my post states if you don’t want to spend Clams, avoid it… and take your time.
Think of it this way… TinyCo drops “Options” to buy Coins to get Clam or Buy Clams to get Event Materials. ONLY a Bonus for doing something within a certain time to get an extra item(s). Nothing more. It does not mean if you don’t take a Clam offer you can never buy Clams again.

I agree with the assessment of this being a bonus offer and NOT a challenge… unless the challenge is how to get the offer for less than $50+ worth of clams. Not sure that a one event use action is worth such a high price as, unlike other offers to get something AND clams, this is an outright purchase. With other characters and even a clams purchased item, can’t really see the value in this unless I missed something. Did anyone actually complete this purchase?

It was a Challenge to get the price dropped down as low as you can and still try to get as many items as you can in under 24hrs. To me that is a Challenge in that aspect, to NOT pay the 1400+ Clams full price. Regardless, there will still be a Clam buy out no matter what on the Bonus Offer. Just like I noted right by him in red “So if not a big deal for you… take your time and save your Clams. You have till end of Event to unlock him.”

I have been doing the weekly timed Challenge. I have killed 10 -45 nuns. All the characters that can collect balloons are doing so, but now the ! Has appeared over Peter. He is also collecting balloons for the nuns. When he has finished the task he is on and I collect the balloon will that also start the Deaths timed mission? I have not yet placed the (deaths mothers) house? Will this make a difference?

Question -the game is asking me to tap the movie screen. I have,several times already. The screen moves,so I know my tap is registering,but the game isn’t reflecting that I completed an action. Any thoughts or advice?!

You said scream level 1/2 has a popcorn exchange at 30, 3/4 is 35 etc…I am at scream level 2 and the popcorn exchange went to 35. Is that an error? Or did they change it?

When does the week 1 challenge expire? I’m working hard but not close to getting Peter (drops are awful – 3/8 jackets, 1/4 pomade, 0/14 cigs (I just got murder point since Peter is the only character who drops bubbles and doesn’t drop for his costume), and 2/12 footballs) . It appears to be in my best interest to not work on pomade but to focus on the bubbles instead? That way I have a shot at the weekly challenge? Thanks!

If you have Quahog Banks take them out of inventory. Helps tremendously with footballs.

Go for the bubbles first and let buildings get his costume parts. The bubbles become popcorn which becomes reels which become buildings that will also drop items for his costume.
I’ve had all five doing bubbles and ignoring his costume and I just placed death’s mom’s house and I’m over half way done with his costume in the meantime from just the buildings and the few characters who aren’t doing bubbles.

Are you positive about this 24h for Death thing? It doesn’t say anything about this in the FAQ. Just says available until Nov. 5.
Meanwhile for Slasher Cat it clearly states that he is a 24h challenge.

So basically, if we don’t spend clams to unlock death. We have to save up movie reels I think I counted 190 to get all of the buildings and slasher cat before buying deaths mom’s house. Because the items in the other buildings and slasher cat you can only get from the buildings in the projection booth. Am I looking at this correctly?

Actually, once you place murder point it goes pretty fast. It drops 2 funny cigs every 4 hours. The funny cig are the first item I competed for Peter. I got 14 in a couple days. What I did was concentrated on getting balloons for the buildings because they give you scream points as well as items for Peter. I think I need 5 more jackets to finish. I think the jackets is whats taking the most time, but that might just be me.

So if Death isn’t bought by clams or unlocked within 24 hours, the only difference is that unlocking him after 24 hours will be that he will have no balloon task? And also, how is the “Death at the Door” questline triggered? Can we gain the items we need, or most of, to unlock him before the 24-hr questline starts?

The trigger point is listed right in this very post. Up top. Only difference is Balloon Task. Most items are from places you unlock AFTER him in Booth…. so advance options will be rough.

Wait. So I’m confused. You’re saying the second you place Death’s house it triggers a quest to get him in 24 hours? But, what’s the point of slasher cat’s action then? And doesn’t death need items from the pumpkin tower? And slasher cat’s cave? So how is it possible to get him 24 hours after you place the house? There’s gotta be some problem there or some other trigger that caused it.
Also, for the Peter one, you’re saying the second I unlock the costume it starts the 3 day quest for 45 nuns? That one sounds hard but doable, especially now that they added Quagmire to it. I’ll just make sure I stockpile a few before getting the costume.

But that’s not “challenging”. Not trying to complain or especially complain to you. That’s just a purchase. It’s literally physically impossible to have the other 2 buildings before death’s house unless you hold death’s house. And even then, the buildings won’t drop the items until he’s out. So it’s completely and totally impossible to do this challenge without just buying the character outright for about 1000 clams.
Again, not complaining about the difficulty. Some things cost clams. But challenges are usually at least possible. This one is way off. Not sure why they went that way.

It is a Challenge to earn all you can in the 24hrs then decide what you want to pay for him and what is worth it. Essentially, get Peter first and then those tasks will knock a huge chunk off him.
Let them know your thoughts on it.

Bunny, we know you are in internet hell, but could a post be developed or information highlighted within an existing post (this one or the content release one) as to what is timed with the trigger, the requirements and the “prize”? It is somewhat confusing and there seems to be more than a few timed challenges on-going and some of them are “use or lose” and some are decos. Hate when Peter triggers timed tasks because it just isn’t prudent to have him sitting with an “!” over his head for days but if we can sit and wait to build before launching the trigger we have a fighting chance. Thanks as always for all the tremendous info!

Bunny, it seems as everyone is confused by these timed challenges. I see them outlined in both posts and have read them numerous times and I am still a tad confused.
(1) I get that you have until the event ends to collect what is needed for Death. What is triggered is a 24 hour challenge to get him in that time frame so you can have an eight-hour task to get balloons. So since you can’t start collecting for death until the building is dropped in your game, you can’t work ahead very much (can’t bank items). Since there are extra rare items needed and Peter needs to do an 8-hour task three times within this 24-hour time frame, this isn’t really feasible without spending some clams or getting extremely lucky with the drops. One can try but it really is intended for a clam purchase because the prize (8-hour task that drops balloons!) is so great. Do I have that one correct?
(2) There is a three-day challenge as has been the case in other events where there will be weekly challenges to perform each week to win a prize to build up to a grand prize at the end. This is outlined in the game tab as well and this first one triggers once you get Peter’s skin. So a good way to build for attacking the 45 nuns is to save up water balloon launchers to use prior to the challenge triggering (crafting Peter’s skin) so you can start with a bunch in the kitty. Do I have that one correct?
(3) Whenever you reach the point of Slasher Cat in the Projection Booth (NOT Slasher Cat Cave [the building], but Slasher Cat [the character]), you will have 24 hours to collect for him or he will be gone forever and conceivably Lois will be chased forever and she will be completely useless for the remainder of the event no matter what comes down the pike since you will never be able to free her and move along the main quest line and continue in the game. So, the best way you make sure and get him would be to make sure you have 120 movie reels close to being banked BEFORE you craft the Pumpkin Tower building (the item before Slasher Cat) because you will start the timer the next time you enter the Projection Booth AFTER you craft the Pumpkin Tower. So get close to 120 movie reels banked, craft the Pumpkin Tower (costing 20 movie reels), the timer will begin once you go back into the Projection Booth again, then you have 24 hours to finish however many movie reels you need to finish getting 100 movie reels for Slasher Cat. Do I have that one correct?
I think the guy was asking for an outline like this because it is quite confusing and easy to make a mistake if you aren’t paying attention to what you are doing. We all come here to avoid making a mistake and triggering a timed challenge before we are ready, especially when it is a character or skin that is so necessary to moving along the quest line and continue in the game.
If I have this correct, I hope people take the time to read it or feel free to post it on its own so more people will see it. It may cut down on numerous questions regarding the same topic and (if I am right) might be good information for players to have and know so they avoid making an error.

3. Incorrect. There are TWO Slasher Cats. Don’t get them mixed up. One is ONLY an NPC that chases Lois (just like the Unholy Nuns are just NPCs and have no merit except one main use) and ONLY Slasher Bait Peter can clear him. So ONLY Slasher Bait Peter is needed for Lois & Slasher Cat “task”.
As to Slasher Cat the Character in the Booth, once you get the item just BEFORE him (Pumpkin Tower) in your game, the very next moment you tap on the Booth again… no matter what you are doing or why you are in there… you will start the timer. So if you got Pumpkin Tower, put it in Inventory or your town, STAY AWAY FROM THE BOOTH until you have close to 100 Movie Reels stored. You ONLY have 24hrs to get 100 Movie Reels & him as soon as you tap on Booth. He will sit in there until end of Event… as long as you do NOT tap the booth. ANY tap on the Booth during the Event starts that 24 timer once the Pumpkin Tower is created. 🙂

Bunny, sorry to ask for something in one post, but it seems my confusion is shared by others based on replies I am seeing so this helps clear it up. Unfortunately, we all freak out when we see timed challenges because of past experiences so it is helpful to see Mike’s outline (and Bunny’s corrections) attempt to make it more clear. Now I know what to do as I work my way through this week’s content.

Ok, so if I’m reading this right, you have 24 hours to unlock Death for the challenge, but you also need the Pumpkin Tower to unlock him, which creates an additional timer to unlock Slasher Cat? I don’t think I’m getting that…

Basically you will HAVE to spend Clams to do this… so where you are in the Movie Projection Items won’t matter.

As it takes an hour to get the launcher once you have the balloon that’s 15 out of 24 hours a day to not only get 15 balloons but to remember to be always making the launchers to use. Wow. I guess what I’m really saying is that I’m not going to be getting much sleep over the next 3 days!

Wow. That is a lot of clams to spend to get us the info a little quicker. Bunny you are truly dedicated to this site and I salute you, but I personally wouldn’t mind waiting a little bit of time for the information if it saves you these massive piles of clams.
But what this also suggests is that I should consider stockpiling my balloons for a bit until I unlock Peter’s outfit.
