Hey there Brave Knights!
Bouncing by with some help with A Grimm Knight in Quahog Event. With Phase 2 now live in our games, I wanted to focus on the New Wandering Characters, Mort Trolls.
In this post I will be going over some of the Basic Information on how to best take down the Mort Trolls and to be able to manipulate them so you get the most out of your Flash Bangs.

For more information on the Main Event, go to the Event Page HERE.
WHEN DO I START SEEING MORT TROLLS?

You will start to see them as you enter Phase 2 content and trigger them with Twice Upon a Time Part 1.
HOW OFTEN DO THEY APPEAR?
In my game, it seemed that at least 2 Mort Trolls showed up every 2-4 hrs in my game. I had around 8 wandering at one time.
WHAT DO I USE TO CLEAR A MORT TROLL?

Flash Bangs! They are the item you will use to take as many Mort Trolls down as you can.
WHERE DO I GET FLASH BANG?
You can get Flash Bang from a few different areas of the game.
Flash Bang (Common): Fairyjail Tower (Bazaar) OR Robbery Point (Bazaar) OR Peter Overeat OR Joe Raid Personal Weapons Stash
OR
You can buy these in the Shopping Cart for Clams… of course this is optional and your choice.
3 Flash Bangs: 48
Clams
6 Flash Bangs: 90
Clams
12 Flash Bangs: 160
Clams
HOW DO I KNOW HOW MANY FLASH BANG I HAVE?
There are two locations in the game to let you know how many Flash Bang you currently have. The first is in the Lower Right Corner of your Game Screen.
![]()
The Next one is if you tap on the Flash Bang Icon on the screen and go into the Mort Troll Target Screen, your current count will show on the Lower Right side of the Pop Up.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I RUN OUT?
If you are in the Target Screen, it will tell you to “BUY MORE”. Tapping on “BUY MORE” will take you to the Clam options above to buy them. You can just exit out and continue earning more through the Buildings and Characters instead. You do NOT have to Buy them if you do not want to.

HOW DO I TARGET THEM?
In order to take down the Mort Trolls, you first need to have at least one Flash Bang to drop on them. Once you do, just tap on the Flash Bang Icon like shown above. This will bring up the Troll Targeting Screen.
Here you can watch to see when the Trolls appear in the Cross Hairs of the Target Screen (this one I have 3 in there), and you can also see the current amount of Flash Bang you have in the Lower Right.

Once you have the amount of Mort Trolls you want in the Target Screen Cross Hairs, tap on “FLASH BANG” and it will drop the Flash Bang onto the Trolls. The screen will Zoom In and flash bright white, then the Trolls you actually hit will hunch over to cover themselves, turn to stone, and crumble to dust.

Then you will get your Reward for destroying them.

WHAT REWARDS DO I GET FROM THEM?
The Rewards I am currently seeing randomly appear are the following. The Rewards will vary, but you will at least get Magic Beans.
Magic Beans (+5 to +15, though I saw mostly +15)
1 Golden Egg
1 Giant Gym Sock
HOW DO I GET MORE THAN ONE AT A TIME?
This is where it can get a lil tricky. The Mort Trolls can appear ANYWHERE. That means they will wander all over your town. Into corners, behind buildings, on the beach, etc. To catch more than one them will be a lil bit of a Challenge, but we have been here many times before.
Here are a few tips…
- Place Buildings/Decorations in a line touching building to building to create a “path” to direct Mort Trolls down the path and keep them in a specific area.
- Direct the Mort Trolls down the middle of an area and into a “Maze” to cause them to be corralled and easier to target as it will take them longer to walk through a “Maze”. (There are several posts on Making a Maze all over the site. Here and Here are a few to give you a good idea.)
- Tap on the Mort Trolls. Tapping on them can cause them to stop moving for a minute, as well as change the direction they are going. With a lil time and effort you can make Mort Trolls turn and start walking toward one another. Tapping on them to stop them moving a minute can give you time to Target then drop the Flash Bang.
- Remember, also have them walking INTO the Target Screen for the best results before dropping a Flash Bang. If they are walking away, there is a chance you will not get them.
These are just suggestions. You do NOT have to move around your town, that choice will be up to you. Just using the “Tap on them” option can work just fine for many.
HOW MANY CAN YOU GET AT A TIME?
So far in my game, the most I have got at one time is 4. That is due to they were stuck in my “Maze” and made it an easy Target for me. It may not seem like it, but there are FOUR Trolls in the image. They were walking so close to each other that it only looked like 2 of them.

But when they got hit and the payout appeared, you can see at the bottom of the screen that 4 were indeed hit by the 1 Flash Bang. WOOHOO!!

HOW DO I KNOW I HAVE MORT TROLLS IN MY GAME?
If you can’t see any Mort Trolls and are unsure if you even have any in your game, use the Flash Bang Icon or a Task (if you have one to take them out open) to see if they are in your game.
If you tap on the Flash Bang Icon on the Lower Right of the screen, you will open the Target Screen and at the bottom will be an image of a Mort Troll. If the Image is there and you see your “FLASH BANG” Target button lit up, you have Mort Trolls. You can then scan your game to try and find out where they are hiding.

If you tap on the Flash Bang Icon, and in the Target Screen at the bottom you see the Mort Trolls crossed out and the “FLASH BANG” is gone with “NONE LEFT” in its place… you do not have anymore Mort Trolls in your game. You will have to wait for them to respawn.

If you are on a Task to Clear Mort Trolls, like the Main Questline for Twice Upon a Time, tapping on “GO” next to the Clear Mort Trolls Task will also let you know if you are out of Mort Trolls. You will see a Pop Up appear telling you to “COME BACK SOON” if they are all gone.

QUICK TIPS
- Collect a couple Flash Bangs so you can fire more than once if needed
- Try to get as many Mort Trolls as you can to one area then drop a Flash Bang on them. That way you will get more Trolls with less Flash Bangs having to be used.
There you have it, some tips and tricks to take out some Mort Trolls and get some cool rewards for the Event.
How are you doing so far with the Mort Trolls? How many have you taken out at a time? What kind of payouts are you seeing? Tried the Maze Method to get them? Tried the Tap Method to get them? Tips for other Players? Let us know.

How did you get the maze?!?!?!?!

Made it. See the many links on Maze in this very post. 😉

Just got 11 trolls this morning again. Instead of the maze, i have a large open area where it’s easy to click and keep them in the same basic area. Here’s the screen so you can see my layout and flashbang area. http://imgur.com/N0alUXm

Like I said, no need to use the mazes if you do not want to. It works more for those that like to hit them as soon as they enter the games. Otherwise, tap and redirect works great. 😉

I’ve gotten 12 trolls at once just by keeping them in the same area by clicking and redirecting. you can let them walk a little and then redirect to keep them in the same vicinity. didn’t use the maze technique, but didn’t need to.

Wow! Such Good! Much Dropping! I finally got 6 trolls, but I really don’t know what to do with all these darn Golden Eggs! (I have at least 30, as shown on Prince Charming’s Castle purchase screen.) I can’t even use them up on stuff I don’t need, because everything needs Sapphire Eggs too, and I can’t get enough of those to get the Medicine Shop I need to get past Twice Upon a Time Pt. 7, never mind the Manner School I really want for Harps! Grrr.

I’m earning flash bangs like crazy and some arm armor I think…my question is since I’m stuck in phase 1 hell…1/4 of the way through Honor Level 3…is all of the stuff I’m getting now going to be there when I get to phase 2? Is the game saving all of my flash bang and armor drops?
Thanks!

Yes. It will be. You can use the items in the Bazaar from Phase 1 as well as Toadstools and Charming Bunts to help “up” your HP if needed.

Where do they spawn from? The Castle? Or is it just random? I remember on previous events it helped to start your maze at the area they originate

I’ve tried to verify it… but I miss it everytime. I honestly think they just appear on the sidewalks then start walking.

Yes, they appear in a puff of smoke on the streets just like the knights do.

If anyone has been able to get Prince Charming’s Castle yet I was wondering how big it was. If too large I probably won’t bother using all that material up as even with the new land there just isn’t enough room for it.

Disregard that question Bunny I just went to your town and saw it for myself lol. I should always check there first 😉 Thanks

Question – how much money are u all spending ?! That is min 30 bucks a week I suspect to be waiting around at this pint in the game.
I’m a free player and sending my people to get arrows all the time and 1 egg away from complete 1st week bazaar items.
Wesley is still locked only got the dragon 1once above 2 times – (Peter Was on the day quest) sending all 3 from the mask and down to 1 mask missing :).

Are you asking me? You don’t wanna know if that’s the case. Lol. I spend a lot more than an average player to be able to bring game stats and advice to the site.

I only buy 1 “batch” of Clams, if the event I am playing is important to me, and I only buy when there is a “Buy Clams get free XXX” offer. I bought some Clams during Star Trek Second Contact (free Torpedoes?), and during Christmas (free Presents), and once last summer or fall. Other than that, Freemium, relying on leftovers from those purchases, watching videos, and rewards during events. Total since I started playing last Spring, about $40 CDN. (3 batches of the “$9.99” Clams, plus exchange rate.) I would certainly not spend $30 per week, or even per event, personally.
Of course, that means I don’t excel in the game: Rarely even on the leaderboards, never mind winning (except the “grouped” leaderboard), and usually don’t get the final prizes in the events, but pick up a few interesting characters and decorations on the way.

I used the maze technique (brilliant tip by the way Bunny!) And got all the socks now. I think all in all I only used about 15-18 flash bangs.
It seems to me you have a higher chance of getting socks if you hit 3+ at the same time. Whenever I attacked 1 or 2 I didn’t get socks but I almost always got socks from every troll-Mort if I hit 3 or more at a time. So give the maze a try guys. I used simple flower beds. Cheap.
Good luck all!

You see the first picture beneath “How Many Can You Get At a Time?” That’s what my screen looks like when I click “Flash Bang”. The target is so big that I can’t see the buttons. I can’t fire or close the screen. I can’t even log out. Has anyone else had this problem?

Mine does that AFTER I drop a Flash Bang but then turns normal again. If yours is stuck there… try some basic troubleshooting and contact TinyCo if it continues

I’m stuck on Phase 1 because Honor Points are coming very, very slowly. I get one every two hours from Bruce, Herbert, Chris, Jerome and Quagmire. Is there anything I can do to get more faster?

Hi I know I’m far behind everyone but I can’t buy the potions to defeat the dragon. My game doesn’t have hem in the shopping cart… At all. No one else has talked about this glitch and I wasn’t even able to attack the dragon until 2 days ago… I should just message tinyco?

Are you fully into Phase 2? Twice Upon a Time Questline running? Or are you still in Phase 1 with Once Upon a Time?
The potions did not appear until Phase 2, so if you are not in it… you may not see them in the Menu just yet to buy. Just keep working on earning them Free from the Characters as you unlock them.

I’m still at the phase one, but I can buy potions. They are in my store at the end of the deco section. I also can get flash bangs from my tasks, but don’t have chance to use it, so partly I’m between phases 🙂

I never got more than two in one spot, somehow they always seem to wander the opposite ends of my town.

I tap and manipulate them to change direction and go towards one another while I tap on one to keep it in that spot I want them all to come to. I did this with many other items that had this option in the past.

It can be tricky, but I have taken out 4 Trolls at a time, twice, using this trick… Thanks! What is your record?
I remember, with the flocks of bats last year, I once managed to get 10 at once. And that was without knowing any tricks; just having LOTS of flocks in my town at once, and waiting…. and waiting… 🙂

I’m getting good at taking out groups of 4, but you must have more talented fingers than I do, to get 6! 😉

I use my corralling strategy too. I tore up all my roads ages ago. So the only “sidewalks” in my games now are in the center of my permanent Mazes. It helps so when they spawn they are already in the center of it. 😉

Slow down! I finally got 5 yesterday (and feel I should point out I don’t use mazes or corralling [yet!]), so if you get up to 8, that’s not fair! 😉
I may spend some time erasing roads soon, though: I can see the advantages now, even if my town won’t look as “organized”. It will mess with my CDO* tendencies, but I may just have to suck it up and do it anyway!
*OCD: In alphabetical order, AS IT SHOULD BE! 😀

We have to wait till Thursday? I’ve waiting 6 days already. I’m on le. Dragovel 10. I thought leveling up would do it. Killing the dragon is useless now. I don’t need beans, hats or bothers. The last dragon required 48 earth , I forget how many FBS, and 72 lightnings on the final battle. I’ve been using up 10′ s of thousands of beans bying toad stools for HP’s. Used beer river to make a moat around castle wall I built. 1 million coins spent on that.
Thanks

Wait til Thursday for what? The Next Phase? Yes, that is how it always is. Many are still just getting to Phase 2 now… patience. No need to rush the game and be done in one day. 😉

Save your money and clams and play the game! If you are not caught up by the new phase release, then spend your money. Much more enjoyable that way, at least in my opinion.
