  1. I think I need to take another break after this event. The game is stressing me out, and I hate that. Plus I just unlocked level 30 in TSTO and I got a whole crap load of stuff going on over there, lol. Especially w the casino event. And I enjoy playing that game. Don’t get me wrong, I love family guy, but as a gamer, I don’t feel challenged anymore, not right now. I feel tired. Bring out a new district and I’ll come back.

Watch, I’ll totally get hooked on the next event or whatever they do and not take a break. Absolutely no self-control.. 😝

  2. I may be late to the game…just now clearing last district. But I notice Neil, bottom tooth, and evil monkey now say coming soon. Did this always say it? I just noticed it.

  3. I see that I am not the only one starting to feel a bit burnt-out by the way things have been going lately. The events have been stacked end-to-end so badly that this current one actually overlapped the previous (via the “opt-out” feature). Heck, I sat out the football event because I just needed to take a break from the relentless grinding.

It just does not seem fun anymore – I would say that it all went downhill after the original Star Trek event. After that, I started to get less and less of the freemium content overall (typically 2-3 days behind the curve when a new phase would launch) because I simply could not keep up. It also felt like the intensity level went up severely (the handful of characters being used needed to be in 2-3 places at once, and the variety of different materials needed went through the roof), as if designed to thwart all but premium players. Nevermind the leaderboard feature that raised this sense of urgency and “Clam panic” to frenzied levels – like swimming through piranha-infested waters.

In short, I enjoy playing this game – but I feel like TinyCo is trying to make me hate it. Which is all too unfortunate for folks like myself who are just trying to have fun and enjoy a little distraction in an otherwise silly little game. All I can do is to continue playing with an extremely casual attitude, and not make myself crazy or lose any sleep or spend any Clams trying to achieve the impossible.

    • The primary issue is TinyCo has turned the game into forcing it to be a cash grab for all players instead of allowing there to be this delineation between those who are completists (read: mega-clam purchasers) and those want to enjoy the game for what it is (read: limited- or never-clam purchasers). I already hear Bunny in my head (“They need to turn on the lights”), but there can be a balance. For completists or those who are willing to have unlimited spending budgets, TinyCo could put volumes of content into the game and all of it would get purchased and exercised as part of districts/events/mini-events. There is a larger core of the players who would be willing to support the game on a much larger basis but have been alienated or frustrated and have completely lost trust in TinyCo as a company. The leaderboard debacle that continues to plague honest players continues to be Exhibit A for that. The first event I didn’t fully complete (after a very long string of completed ones), I still woke up the next morning and the game was still there and not very much was missing. Plus, when you consider that a majority of the time, buildings or decorations from an event just get inventoried and characters the same once they are leveled up, I don’t feel as anything is “missing” from my game by not completing an event. Heck, the limited number of districts we have had have resulted in many of those acquired characters sitting in inventory even though they are allegedly in the games of most players (have Olivia or Pawtucket Pat been used for ANYTHING since hitting our games?). I stumbled upon the game the week of its release just by chance and grabbed it because of my love for Family Guy, fell in love with the mechanics of the game and its presentation, but find myself falling further and further away with each passing event as I see the direction TinyCo is attempting to head. I want them to be successful and continue to put out a quality game, but I am not sure how this is possible with their current business plan. I am not sure I will make it to the end of the game, but I think it is coming markedly faster than any of us could ever have expected as we haven’t even reached two full years yet and clearly what they attempted to do just isn’t working and they scramble to find a formula that will keep on those lights.

  4. After almost half a year I picked up an old and retired Galaxy Nexus (due to broken phone module) last week and updated TQFS out of curiosity, just to check out what’s changed since I departed the game. I was really shocked to see that there was only added a tiny strip of land up northwest. And even more so about the fact that the game was almost unplayable now in terms of performance. It has become so aw-ful-ly slow.

  5. The only thing I’ve been getting frustrated with recently is the current quest I am on of unlocking Pawtucket Pat. One of the ways to unlock the flutes is to have Stewie round up the Chumba Wumbas, because it says that it will always drop one, but that hasn’t been the case at all.

Ah well nice to do something different for a change (it’s only an annual event). Nearly messed up the Yorkshires for mum’s dinner cos I was tired though!!

            • Gore?? Hmmmm… more kinda funny gore… not gross gore if that makes sense? But it is all in how your level of special effects runs. I worked in haunted house for years doing their special effects as well as had a blast one summer at a “first aid” fair putting bullet holes, burns, scars, etc on people to show them what the “real thing” would look like. Lol. So I kind of get desensitized on things… unless it is just gross. Me personally I do not like gross gore, the kind you feel they did just to make you puke. This is more “oh no, I lost a body part and their is blood… it’s only a flesh wound” to me.

I probably started laughing in the opening and laughed all through to the end. It was more just humorous than anything to me.

  8. I’m sompissed I was removed from the leaderboard in Star Trek. I didn’t cheat. I contacted them in game via their support/contact tab. They’ve still not responded. I do enjoy this game, but the least they could do is tell me why????

I literally spent hours the last two days cashing in the pink currency in the replicator for pod plants. I have over 1,000 pod plants. Each replication dropped latinum bars. I was so happy I managed to wiggle into the top 500 as a free player. Maybe they banned me because I didn’t pay? It’s just so disappointing to have all your hard work yanked away! Rant over….

I’m enjoying the new event. Although there are some similar actions in this event to other events, it feels fresh and new. My progress has been very slow. Trying to gather arrows and gloves all the while trying to fight a dragon has been a challenge.

I can’t imagine trying to do it all at the last minute. It must’ve taken you several hours. That really sucks.

  10. I’m sorry if any of this goes into WTD territory. It’s not meant as a rant, just my observations and thoughts on the game. Something I’ve been thinking about for a while and typed up the other day. I debated whether or not to post it, but decided I would…

I’ve been a freemium player, pretty much since this game came out. If not day one, then the first week, for sure. This game has gone through a lot of changes since then. At first it had districts, without time limits and every once in awhile an event (big or small) with limited time items. Now, there hasn’t been a new district since July of last year. And the events are non stop. Lately I’m seeing more and more comments about what can and cannot be earned in these events by freemium players. I thought I’d go back and look at my experiences with all the events.

First off, I’d like to explain how I play the game. During events, I will play as often is necessary to maximize my game play, in my waking hours. If that means playing hourly I will. Luckily, that hasn’t often been needed. I will not set alarms to wake up at night, but oftentimes I do wake up and if I can’t sleep I’ll reset tasks. And I rarely sleep much more than 6 hours so I’m able to reset 2hr tasks 9 times a day, 4hr 5x, 6hr 3x (and sometimes 4x), 8hr 3x etc, of course for some tasks the time slips and eventually I lose out and sometimes “real” life intrudes, but on an average day, that’s how I play.

Here’s my breakdown of the big events. When I say “everything” I mean all freemium characters, skins, and decorations that are part of the prizes. And, as it’s been awhile for some of these, I may have forgotten some details.

Kingdom of the Full Moon-I got everything, but I needed help from the jello-shot (or whatever it was) glitch. No clams spent.

Comic-Con-Earned everything, and had 3-4 times what was needed. No clams spent and earned 100+ clams.

Halloween 2014-Earned everything, no clams spent.

American Dad-Earned everything, no clams spent.

Christmas 2014-Earned everything. Spent clams on McClane.

Valentine’s Day-Earned everything, no clams spent.

Star Trek-This is where the grinding in events really started. Before they extended it, I would have gotten everything, but after the extension I just didn’t care so I didn’t try and missed out on a few of the new items. No clams spent, and earned a couple hundred.

Mobsters-Missed out on Bonnie’s costume, no clams spent.

PeterPalooza-Earned everything, taking advantage of player friendly glitches (secret concerts, and Hayley Smith attacking the “boss”). Spent clams on Weird Al.

Those are the events you have listed on the site, I might have missed some since then.

Halloween 2015-Other than Slasher Cat, I didn’t get any of the final prizes for each phase. Spent clams (50-75) on rushing tasks to unlock Meg’s friends.

Christmas 2015-Didn’t earn any of the final prizes for each phase, but got everything else. No clams spent.

Football-By far my most frustrating event. Spent clams on Tom Brady and Cam Newton and the only way I was able to start week 3 on time was paying clams to win the games. And in week 3 I got Peter’s skin just before the event ended so used more clams to win the last games and get Touchdown Jesus.

Current event-Spent clams on the Black Knight and Fezzik, and I’m in decent shape right now, but still feel it necessary to log in every 2 hours or risk losing out.

There are too many mini events to go over, but the first, Pee Pants, I missed out on by one item. Since then I’ve gotten every “main” prize, whether it was a character or skin, but not all the decorations. The only clams I’ve spent in mini events are on characters.

As I said, the grind started with Star Trek and every event since then I’ve needed to play more than I’d actually like to in order to earn what I want and even then I couldn’t get it all. I think, in order to fully enjoy this game, I’d need to adopt a “be happy with what I can get” attitude, but that’s not how I’ve ever played games. This may be an imperfect analogy because they are so different but I grew up playing games like Super Mario Bros. I wasn’t happy just getting to the final castle. I had to save the princess.

It may have once been “pay or play” but that is no longer the case. A truly freemium player has no chance to get all the freemium items. Which begs the question, if the only way to earn a freemium item is by using clams (either speeding tasks, or buying clam buildings or characters) is it still freemium? And it’s not just a question of using clams, it’s how many. With the football event, the only way to get Touchdown Jesus was either to spend clams to rush tasks or to win the games. Why even have an event? Just put Jesus in the store for 500 clams (or 1,000 or whatever you think it’s worth).

What bothers me the most is that this game could be really fun. I want a challenge, as long as it’s reasonable. I like that you need to strategize and plan in these events. But, if the only “strategy” is using clams, I’m not interested. Not only because I don’t have unlimited clams, but because it’s just not as fun, for me.

So, in conclusion (finally, right?), this is going to be my last event. If they release another district I might be interested, but other than that the only thing that might bring me back is a Star Wars event, but that seems unlikely and would no doubt just cause more aggravation.

    • For me… Freemiums have always struggled from my view. Without this site hinting to “glitches” many would’ve missed out on items.

I’ve also seen that the changes they make due to player complaints end up backfiring. Example: complaints of too many items left at end of event and Player’s want a Material Mystery Box or something to spend it on. After multiple complaints of this over several events I’ve seen drops tighten up and less available.

They have made good changes, but I still see some areas I hope continue to be worked on.

I also see another game we both play going same route of Event after Event vs “Levels”. I think it’s the way of gaming now with apps. People complained things were too slow or they’re too bored… now… begging for a break or slow down. In my opinion it may just be us as people always wanting “something new, something different” all the time. More and more I see people become ADD about basic things in life. Lol. I’m guilty of this too… SQUIRREL!!

This game has always had a challenge to it to me. Never been simple. I hope they continue to grow and improve the game or more may go and feel just like you.

      • 2 years is a long time to play the same game every day. Day one players are naturally going to start dropping like flies very soon just because at some point you just want to find something new. I dont think it has to do with the game itself too much. I stopped playing the other game after a 2 years and before that I had a different game I played for about 2 years too. For me 2 years is the time to find something new mark. Its coming up on 2 years for me in family guy and I’ve slowed down a lot and have been trying out lots of other games for a potential replacement filler of my free time.

About people complaining about extra currency and wanting the return of the currency mystery box that they use to faithfully give us at the end of each event. The obvious solution would be to offer some kind of reward for the extra currency like the return of mystery box as requested or a clam per x amount (I remember the other game doing something like that for the over achievers). It backfired because instead of taking the suggested solutions, they thought it would be a good idea to become event currency stingy. I’m finally seeing this go back in the right direction though in this event with the beans. Im having no issues collecting enough beans without any bean stalks and its the only currency which is great! I still want a currency mystery box though with the event area items in it like they use to.

I like Currency Boxes because they’re fun and it’s “extra” items.

Burn out will happen. This is true. It’s why I tell people to take a break. Step away a bit. See if the passion cones back. If not, find something to give you enjoyment.

Ugh I hated the 30 player leaderboards, didn’t have a hope in hell of winning on them as extreme premium players just leapfrogged each other constantly for the top 2 places. Yuck. Please no, imo.

The currency Mystery Boxes, the sectioned 30 each leaderboards and community goal leaderboards..
            Please come back lol!

I wish they would bring those back.
Or allow a “bonuts” or “blams”, haha, deal for extra event currency. Or not making it less abundant, which like you said affected drop rates. I don’t know if they fixed that.
There’s so much potential to make this game better and still challenging.. But I feel there should be rewards for over-achievers which aren’t just clam spenders, freemiums end up with huge amounts of currency. Or even things made a little simpler, and a few adjustments to make things less “clustered”. Like some “events” could be permanent, so until you reach a certain level the event won’t unlock until said level.. Then you have more characters to spread out tasks.. Just some of my thoughts.. Yes maybe I’m taking some of this from TSTO.. Am I? I haven’t gotten too far into the workings of it, so I’m not sure, I’m just trying to compare the two and come up with a better idea, I see so many unhappy people here. And I’m so tired lol
Maybe this was more WTD, but I’m just trying to brainstorm here.. Meh.

      • You do get to see all the complaints, how fun! 😛 And I know that not everyone plays as frequently as I do (while others set alarms to wake up in the middle of the night). But that first year, after Kingdom, the events were very doable for freemium players who were willing/able to put in the effort.

I was talking with simp7fan a few weeks ago about all the donuts being given away in TO. Since he doesn’t play this game, I mentioned some of the similarities between the games and how I thought that was EA taking something from this game (clam tv). It seems they’ve taken the event after event idea, as well. I just wish there would be a balance between limited time and level based items. Take the best of both and make the “perfect game.” Except someone will still find something to complain about lol.

And I do like the challenge of this game, instead of just tap this, repeat. It’s just gotten to be too much. But who knows, maybe I’ll just get bored with that one and come back here for some more punishment lol.

        P. S. I really want to watch Up now. 🎈🙂

      • But in all fairness, TSTO allows strictly freemium players to realistically win at least all prizes if only they play regularly. They may not be able to craft everything possible, but the basics are attainable. That’s quite a difference from where TQFS has gone since about last year’s Star Trek event.

        • Craft all the Freemiums, yes… with hard work. They also still have a lot of Premiums to catch your eye as well. 😉

Like I keep saying, THIS game is very challenging. Nothing like the other where it is more just tap tap tap. This game never has been nor I think never will be a simple one. It is more a strategy game. It is why I tell people if it is not for them, find something that is. You will be tested time and again in this game. The other one you just show up and get rewards.

It is all in the style the game houses put out. Each has their own quirks. Though I do have to say that EA has taken a lot of things done here and now incorporated them into their game too. 😉

TSTO is a lot simpler to play compared to this. There if you send a Character to get an item… you get the item. Here… it is all a game of chance. Think of it as a game all based around everyone’s “Favorite Wheel of Fortune” in TSTO. Lol.

And I don’t think Ralph would play the game so much as try and eat it… all those donuts… he is bound to try to get a few out of the phone. 😛

“Daddy… it said I get Free Donuts. What button do I push to make them come out? Daddy… I broke the phone open to get the donuts out, but the Donuts taste like metal. Daddy… look… these sharp Donuts turn my mouth red.”

The first time I played with him he was in last place and I was in second to last, trying to lose, when right at the end I got one of those bullets and got first place. I felt bad. I made sure not to hit anything like that again lol.

                    • Lol. I never bothered with PS2. I hate how expensive everything is now… so I enjoy the ones I have. It’s fun to go back and start an old game like Zelda from beginning and watch it change as I keep moving to next one.

Group games are the funnest. Lots of hours of laughter with those. Just Dance included. Bunch of geeks dressed up after Comic Con dancing to a goofy song is hilarious. Especially when “adult beverages” are involved.

      • My trick worked! Now you’re commenting here, you’ve no doubt downloaded the game already and now you have no time left for family, friends, work, a life. 😛

A district would be the equivalent of a couple levels. A couple characters and a few buildings.

        • Thanks for the clarification.

Hah, I considered it, theoretically, but I have zero room on my phone. I can’t even update my browser…I’m scared of the next TSTO update because I might have trouble then.

  11. There hasn’t been a new “What the Deuce” post since January. Are those still a thing here? It’s one of my favorite posts to read comments on.
