Mighty Morphin Griffin Rangers 101: Boss Battle – Flame Kaiju

Welcome to the world of Kaiju, where the monsters are in control!

With Mighty Morphin Griffin Rangers Phase 2 underway there’s another new monster to battle, the Flame Kaiju. and I’m here to help you defeat him.

Let’s take a look and see exactly how to attack and ultimately defeat him as well as chatting about everything he’ll be dropping during this phase of the event.

For more information on the Event, go HERE

WHEN WILL THE FLAME KAIJU APPEAR IN MY QUAHOG?

You will start to see the Flame Kaiju in Quahog once you trigger Part 2 of Power Command

WHERE WILL THE FLAME KAIJU APPEAR IN MY QUAHOG?

The Flame Kaiju will appear in the upper left corner of the Event Area and looks like this.

WHAT ARE THE FLAME KAIJU HEART LEVELS?

You will need to attack and defeat the Flame Kaiju at various heart levels, and you will receive different rewards for each level you defeat. The Heart Levels are 2, 4, 5, 10, 20 and you will receive different rewards for each.

You will also notice he has a timer above his head which tells you how long you have to defeat him through all of his 5 heart levels before he goes into a Cool Down and resets to the lowest heart level once again. The total time you have to fully defeat him through his heart levels is 12 hours, so be mindful of this when planning your attacks.

WHAT ARE THE FLAME KAIJU HEART LEVEL REWARDS?

The rewards for defeating him at each Heart Level are as follows, but please bear in mind the PowerCon Red T-Shirts are a rare drop, not always, and in all our games, that’s Bunny’s, Lotty’s and mine we have only saw them drop at the 2, 5 and 20 Heart Levels, although even those have been sporadic, we’ve yet to see any drops at the 4 and 10 Heart Levels in our games, so can’t give any details on the potential amount of PowerCon Red T-Shirt that might drop at those levels. And again, they are a rare chance drop, so even the verified amounts in the table are not guaranteed when you defeat that Heart Level. Please feel free to share any drops you’ve seen of T-Shirts at the 4 & 10 a Heart Level in th comments.

Update April 3rd –  Thanks to regular commenter Etrigan for sharing that they received a drop of 6 PowerCon Red T-Shirts by defeating the Flame Kaiju at the 10 Heart Level and to Jamesterss for verifying they received a drop of  2 PowerCon Red T-Shirts by defeating the Flame Kaiju at the 4 Heart Level.

You’ll  also get PowerCon Pins and Power Medals awarded to you for completing the Attack Task, the amount you get depends on which Attack you’re using, you’ll find full task details a little below.

WHAT DO I NEED TO ATTACK THE EARTH KAIJU?

You need 2 things, first you’ll need at least 2 Pink Zeo SubCrystals. You can get these from: Clearing Pink Ranger Cosplayers or Purchasing packs from your Store.

***I recommend trying to build up a little stockpile of these before you start attacking, especially if you’re playing freemium***

Once you have these you will need to use them to Combine (energize) your Pterodactyl DinoZord in the PowerCon Command Centre, as this is what you use to attack the Flame Kaiju. You’ll find full details on combining your P.DinoZord in the PowerCon Command Centre post HERE.

WHAT ARE THE ATTACK TASKS TO DEFEAT THE FLAME KAIJU?

Your Pterodactyl DinoZord has 3 Tasks that allow you to Attack and ultimately eventually Defeat the Flame Kaiju at his various heart levels, be aware that each task costs a set amount of energy to complete so use the tasks wisely. The tasks are as follows.

Pterodactyl DinoZord Task:
Attack Flame Kaiju – 2 Damage
Cost of Task: 4 Energy
Duration of Task: 45 Seconds
Reward for Task Completion: 1 PowerCon Pin, 3 Leaderboard Medals & 30xp

Pterodactyl DinoZord Task:
Attack Flame Kaiju – 3 Damage
Cost of Task: 6 Energy
Duration of Task: 45 Seconds
Reward for Task Completion: 3 PowerCon Pin, 7 Leaderboard Medals & 30xp

Pterodactyl DinoZord Task:
Attack Earth Kaiju – 5 Damage
Cost of Task: 10 Energy
Duration of Task: 45 Seconds
Reward for Task Completion: 5 PowerCon Pins, 12 Leaderboard Medals  & 30xp

And remember if you fully defeat the Flame Kaiju during an attack you will also get the rewards listed for defeating him at the different heart levels in the table further above.

HOW DO I USE TASKS TO ATTACK FLAME KAIJU?

Simply combine your Pterodactyl DinoZord and select the most energy efficiencient task from the 3 Attack tasks, basically you want to defeat the Flame Kaiju whilst using up the least amount of energy.

You can select the task in one of two ways, either tap your Pterodactyl DinoZord and select the task you want to use from the 3 Attack Earth Kaiju Tasks.

Or simply tap on the Flame Kaiju and you will see the Attack The Flame Kaiju screen pop up.

Then simply click on Attack and you’ll see your Attack options, they are 2 Damage, 3 Damage or 5 Damage. However which Damage amount you will select will depend on the Heart Level you are trying to defeat and the amount of Energy your Pterodactyl DinoZord has.

For example for the 1 Heart Meter Flame Kaiju, you only want to select the Attack Flame Kaiju – 2 Damage task. This will result in you fully defeating the Flame Kaiju for the minimum amount of energy, which for this task is 4.

So basically look closely at the Heart Level of the Flame Kaiju and then plan what is the cheapest way to fully defeat him using the various Attack tasks. Personally by stockpiling 4 Pink Zeo SubCrystals and purchasing Alpha 5 I only managed to defeat the Flame Kaiju up to and including his 5 heart level, and I got a total of 5 PowerCon Red T-shirts for those efforts. Now  with just Pink Ranger Lois you could probably manage an attack streak of just the 2 and 4 Heart Levels, unless you stockpile a higher amount of the Pink Zeo SubCrystals. And with just the basic Pterodactyl DinoZord you will probably only manage to hit him at 1 Heart Level, unless again you’ve a higher stock of Pink Zeo SubCrystals. So if you’re playing purely freemium getting Pink Ranger Lois ASAP and building up Pink Zeo SubCrystals is a must to give you any chance with this Boss.

Once I unlocked Pink Ranger Lois I used a further stockpile of 4 Pink Zeo SubCrystals to attack again, this time using both Pink Ranger Lois and Alpha 5, again I only defeated him up to and including the 5 Heart Level, and this time despite defeating the Flame Kaiju at 2, 4 and 5 Heart Levels I got 0 PowerCon Red T-Shirts at all. So when TinyCo say they are a rare drop, they mean it. So it’s time to stockpile again and have another run of attacks in a day or two.

I know this sounds a little bleak but I just wanted to share my experience in order if you’re seeing similar low drops you know you’re not alone.

Now back to the actual attack info, once your chosen task is underway you will see your Pterodactyl DinoZord attacking the Flame Kaiju and clicking on him will show you the tine remaining.

And once the Task is complete you simply need to tap the check mark, if you defeated the Flame Kaiju, you can simply collect your rewards. If you just damaged him you will need to attack him again until he is fully defeated.

But remember you only have 12hrs to defeat the Earth Kaiju  up to his highest heart level of 20,  before the Flame Kaiju will go into “Recovery”.  When in recovery, which last 6 hours, he will vanish from your Event Area, and you’ll just see this.

Tapping on the area will bring you up the following box.

This tells you the time until the Flame Kaiju will return, and the clam cost to bring him back immediately, please note this clam cost will vary depending on what heart level he was defeated to when the Recovery initiates. Once he returns from his Recovery he will be back at Heart Level 2, and you can start trying to defeat him to the top-level again.

And there you have it the all the info about the Flame Kaiju and his drops. How are you getting on attacking the Flame Kaiju. Are you winning the battle or will you be needing re-energised before trying again? Got any battle strategies to share with your fellow addicts? And are you enjoying the event so far? Tell us in the comments as you know we lone hearing from you.

  1. To do all 5 levels in one go I figure you need 18 crystals which takes 4.5 days of collecting. Does that add up correctly?

Depends on characters you have, if you’ve got Pink Ranger Lois and Alpha 5 you can do it with, I think I used 12 pink Zeo, obviously with only Pink Ranger Lois it will take a lot more than this, and yes I think 18 is about right.

  2. FYI I got 2 red shirts at the 4 heart meter

  3. I’m just attacking at the 2 heart level, as I don’t have Pink Ranger Lois. It also takes most of the day to collect a couple of crystals anyway. So this is really really slow going!

  4. My strategy has been to stockpile. Even allowing the kaiju’s to drift into slumber. I feel like I get a more maximum payout the higher the heart level of the kaiju. It’s working for me but it does require a ton of patience.

Speaking of kaiju, with this event I found myself binge watching Power Rangers on Netflix and discovered while corny and a little redundant it’s kind of a fun show! I remember the original but I quickly grew out of that demographic. I had no idea that they’ve had 24 different seasons and it’s still ongoing. That’s madness! Hindsight being 20/20, I’ve come to appreciate the level of effort they’ve put into those costumes. “Ranger Wiki” or http://powerrangers.wikia.com/wiki/RangerWiki has an incredible in-depth list of all the monsters that have appeared in the show and everything else that’s Power Rangers related. It’s definitely worth checking out if you want to know more about the source of the event.

I agree patience is a big part of these battles, grinding out the Crystals, and not being tempted into battle too quickly seems to be the way to go. I’ve actually been surprised how much I’m enjoying the event wit my previous ignorance of all things Power Rangers. I’ll be a fan by the end of this, lol.

  5. As the shirts payout mirrors the cups payout on what you do have, I was anticipating 2 and 6 respectively, but as noted in my WTD post I got nothing in my first three heart levels, so cannot confirm for heart level 4. I am hoping to come back and confirm the drop for heart level 10 for you in about 5 hours 😀.
