Quahog’s Excellent Adventure 101: Redcoats & Generals

Hey there dudes, it’s time to do the time warp again!!!

Yes, a little bit of history has arrived in our towns with the arrival of the Colonial America Playspace, and this has seen Redcoats and Generals running wild in our games.

Now I wasn’t going to do a post covering the Redcoats and Generals as we’ve had a few events in a row where we’ve cleared baddies using character tasks and targeting, so we thought a guide was unnecessary as there are other new elements better covered in posts, but since we’re getting a LOT of comments from players wrongly assuming they can’t clear Redcoats without Colonial Peter, I thought I’d just go ahead and do a quick post to put the problem to bed. So if you’re worried you can’t clear Redcoats without Colonial Peter, stop worrying, you can, Chris can clear them, but you need to take him out of your inventory or Tan Lines in order for your game to recognise he can do the task. If he’s in Tan Lines etc when you click a Redcoat  and try to clear it you’ll just get a message saying you need Colonial Peter, so get Chris off his vacation and wandering your roads. And with that I’ll get on with the show. I’ll start with Redcoats, then cover Generals later in the post.

WHAT THE HECK IS A REDCOAT AND WHEN WILL THEY APPEAR IN MY GAME?

You will be able to start seeing Redcoats in your Quahog when you trigger Pt. 3 of the main Questline A New Excellent Adventure.   Please be aware they didn’t appear instant,y in my game, just be patient and they will spawn, however remember they wander in the Colonial America Playspace not in your Quahog. We’ve had few players say they aren’t triggering in their game, if your impacted in this way please use the support option in your game to message TinyCo, giving them full details of the issue.

At this point you will be instructed to learn about Redcoats. Clicking Go will bring up instructions on them and subsequently clearing them.

WHERE WILL I FIND A REDCOAT?

They will wander your Colonial America Playspace, so look there and you will find them. I’ve only had 6 max available at any one time, and they seemed to be released in my game every 4 hours. Now in my game they are bizarrely up among the trees that border the Playspace so if you’re not seeing them wandering around trying looking up there.

WHAT DO I NEED TO CLEAR A REDCOAT?

This is pretty simple, you need Chris or Colonial Peter to clear a Redcoat, both have a 3 hour task to do this.

HOW DO I CLEAR A REDCOAT?

Simply make sure there are some Redcoats in your town and send Chris or/and Colonial Peter to clear them, you can access their tasks either by clicking on their profile or by clicking on a Redcoat and tapping GO.

The task you’re looking for is: Run Off Redcoat

It takes 3 hours to clear each Redcoat and you can see the task progress by clicking on Chris or Colonial Peter during their task. Once the character has completed  you will see them with a check mark above them, simply tap this and collect your rewards.

WHAT REWARDS DO I GET?

Per Redcoat Cleared:
 1 Tea Bag  (Chance)
 1 Redcoat Hat (Chance)

So that’s Redcoats, now let’s have a quick look at Generals.

WHEN DO THE GENERALS APPEAR?

You will be able to start seeing Generals in your Quahog when you trigger Pt. 3 of the main Questline A New Excellent Adventure. Please be aware they didn’t appear instant,y in my game, just be patient and they will spawn, however remember they wander in the Colonial America Playspace not in your Quahog.

At this point you will be instructed to learn about Generals. Clicking Go will bring up instructions on them and subsequently clearing them.

WHERE DO I FIND GENERALS?

They will wander your Colonial America Playspace, they are on horseback, so it’s easy to tell apart from the walking Redcoats so just look there and you will find them. I’ve only had 8 max available at any one time, and they seemed to be released in my game every 4 hours. Now in my game like the Redcoats they are bizarrely up among the trees that border the Playspace so if you’re not seeing them wandering, look there.

TIP FROM OTHER ADDICTS: Now some players have been telling us in the comments how they have put a single piece of sidewalk in their Colonial America Playspace in order to get the Generals to stay in one small area. It does work but I’m not doing this personally as I’m worried having the sidewalk somewhere it really shouldn’t be could cause a loading issue with my game. In other words I’m a coward that’s not risking being locked out and missing my Quest For Stuff fix, lol. But it’s your choice whether to do this, it’s at your own risk. But as you can see from the visual I took in my game whilst testing it out, this it is possible.

WHAT DO I NEED TO CLEAR GENERALS?

You will need a Tea Crate to drop on them.

HOW DO I GET TEA CRATES?

Tea CratesCreate in General Store Whigs n Digs OR Bill Steal Tea Crates

HOW DO I TARGET AND CLEAR GENERALS?

First, you will need to collect a Tea Crate. Once you have collected a Tea Crate locate some Generals, tap on one and the Targeting Screen will come up.In the center is the target itself, you want to ensure you have as many Generals as close to this area as possible to get as the max 4 you can. Move the screen around with your finger or wait until the Generals wander into the Center. Then simply tap the  “FIRE” button, you tap this to release the Tea Crate on the target.

WHAT DO GENERALS DROP?

2X Sword (be aware though these won’t drop until you start the timer to unlock Ted)

QUICK RECAP

  • Earn Tea Crates
  • Locate Generals
  • Tap on General to access Target Screen
  • Center Target on Generals
  • Tap Fire to launch Tea Crate
  • Get Reward(s)

There you have it, the overall idea of just how to find and clear the Redcoats and Generals.

What methods are you using that are working for you? Any tips you want to share with fellow Players? What kind of payouts are you seeing? Let us know.

  1. Without any help they all rode into a posse of 7 on horseback, I had them in the sights, hit fire, it did the zoom in thing then stayed there and didn’t fire the crate. Five of the horse wandered away and then the crate flew allowing me to hit two of them. These are the types of thing that make my blood boil. I’m a software tester, that kind of thing doesn’t ‘just happen’. Another crate allowed me to ‘hit’ four even though more were around so it appears we are being limited again.

  2. Hi all, how are you enjoying the quest so far? Personally, it sounds like a lot of fun to me, but at present, I am bogged down by a dilemma in which I have tried to bomb the generals with the tea crates but nothing seems to happen. What I do get, however, is the game freezing after I launch the blast and nothing happens even when I tap on the X button.

  3. Like RussianTigger I was concerned about putting road in the Colonial area and it crashing my game but what I’ve been doing that is adding a single square of road, all the characters will then flock to it making them easier to bomb, and then just deleting the road as if it never existed.

I’ve had no issues so far doing it this way, and its quicker to drop bombs without waiting for them to group together on their own.

  4. HA, “Rednecks and Generals” — was that intentional, to see if we were paying attention?

  5. Chris’ task to clear redcoats isn’t at the top of the list for me, It’s listed in chronological order.

If you tap on a Redcoat then tap Go in the subsequent box that comes up it will bring up Chris and the task will be at the top. Otherwise just tapping Chris you got to scroll down.

  6. 4 seems to be the max you can get. I had 5 randomly bunched together and I still only got 4.

  7. I’ve put 3 plots of road down, 2 days ago, and the generals and Redcoats haven’t left since. I haven’t experienced any issues with the game since either. But, to each is own. Have fun!!!

  8. Tried the single street tile trick and they don’t stay on it, rather like the screenshot, my generals & redcoats are now aimlessly wandering the forest…but in a centralized area!

They don’t permanently stay on it, they wander to it and will stay for a little time before they move away again. I’m hitting 4 each time without road as mine are also in the forest. Why I’m not willing keep road down, worry it will effect my game in some way and cause issues
