Alternate Quahogs – Addicts Area

Getting a lot of comments about Alternate Quahog so thought I’d set up this Addicts Area as I’m afraid I can’t do full posts or answer every question immediately as I’m having an issue seeing this in my game, hopefully Jam City can sort this for me ASAP and I’ll get full coverage going. But hopefully what follows will answer some of your questions and other players can chip in with information also.

But before I get to all that I’ll give you a warning..

***SPOILER ALERT***

WARNING – This is current,y being tested in some Android players games, but even if you don’t have the feature fully activated in your game via the new Questline you may still see the Alternate Reality Portal available to buy in your game for 10,000 coins. Don’t buy it if you also plan to play on an IOS device as once you do so your IOS game won’t load. So hold off buying this until the feature is fully activated and the Questline directs you to buy it, ok!!! And if you don’t see it, don’t worry it’s coming as long as you’ve reached the required level in the game, more details on this below.

Okay now here’s the things I can tell you about Alternative Quahogs.

  • The requirements to see Alternate Quahogs once it’s fully live are having District 5 unlocked, having Al Harrington, and having completed the social questline  that unlocks your ability to visit Ollieland and other players towns – so work on meeting all these requirements or you won’t see the feature even once it’s fully live in our games
  • Currently Jam City are only running a beta test on selected Android games so we won’t all see it for another week or so
  • Not all Android players will see the feature, and those who do may see different Alternate Quahogs during the final beta testing, this will let them pinpoint any issues that occur and fix them before the full release
  • Those that see the feature will initially only see one Alternate Quahog – Grassland Town, others will follow as you complete the Questline
  • Once you complete the Questline the feature fully activates in your games and initially there will be 4 Alternate Quahogs, Grassland Town, Winterland Town, Desert Town, Night Town
  • And yes, before you ask more Alternate Quahogs will be released in future, I’m personally hoping for a Halloween Town
  • As I said in a previous point a Questline will take you through activating this feature, so until you see that it’s not supposed to be live in your game, so don’t panic as it will appear soon unless you’ve not complete the game level requirements
  • Again the Questline will only appear if you’ve reached the requirements explained at the top of this list of points, and it will basically introduce you to the feature and have you place the new Alternate Quahogs Portal and then place the Grassland Town
  • Once the feature is fully activated the current social button will disappear and be replaced by the Alternate Quahogs Button, you will still be able to reach Ollieland through this
  • You’ll use the Alternate Quahog button to travel between towns you’ve unlocked, and of course to travel back to your default home Quahog
  • Alternate Quahogs will have their own workers you’ll use to unlock land and place new buildings you might buy, you’ll get one in each town but if you want others you’ll need to buy them just like in original Quahog
  • Alternate Quahogs will have blocks to clear, you’ll need different materials for these, it will include coins, Stewie Buck, Clams and another new material
  • Alternate Quahogs will have some unique buildings to buy but you don’t need them to design as you can use all those event buildings you’ve collected in the past
  • To start the Alternate Quahogs released will be a mix of freemium and premium unlocks, 2 can be bought with coins, (Grassland Town & Winterland Town) and 2 will cost clans, (Desert Town & Night Town)
  • Future towns to be released can be purchased with Stewie Bucks so keep collecting them
  • New materials will be needed for some lands, such as Winterland and other lands still to be released, characters will have tasks to drop these and a new building will be used for these tasks, the QUAKEA
  • The more characters you have, the more tasks you can do, so keep working on those QHS unlocks
  • Any of the above might change if glitches appear in the final testing
  • And finally please give the new feature a fair shout before criticising it, let it bed in and try to enjoy it at your own pace, it’s not a race to the finish

So that’s all I can tell you today, but those who have the feature can share comments and of course I’ll try get answers for any questions as always.

It’s different costs to unlock in games by looks of it, as some can open Winterland with coins for me it’s a mass of materials or high, very clams to skip the materials.

And yes it’s for folk who wanted more land to design things

      • ok cool. thanks.

i suppose its a good side task for those who have cleared everything and have nothing to do in the downtime between events.
i’ve collected a few tools and building materials from qukea(?) and it seems like this it a long term thing as tasks seem to 12hrs or longer and items drops seem to be rare or higher

Still trying get info as some players don’t need collect the materials they can unlock Winterland blocks with coins – some materials are epic drops so yes it’s meant keep folk busy, but I could also see they could use a land instead of an event, say Halloweetown or that

  3. I’ve just read your notice not to purchase the $10,000 alternative portal but I have already purchased it but nothing else happens. What should I do?

Just leave it where it is and be glad you’ve not got locked out your game.

It’s useless at this time so ignore it until you get the feature in your game

  4. I am so ticked right now and wanted to give everyone else a warning. I spent 200 clams by accident unlocking land in the winter land! I feel like muscle memory in the previous quahog when you were on a piece of land it cost coins. So I tapped on a square and tapped again to purchase and after doing that twice realized it was spending my clams! There was also no confirmation screen slowing me down enough to make sure that’s what I wanted to do. So upset about that! I am a freemium player so it takes a long time to save clams. I went to contact their support but of course it says they will not refund accidental purchases. So pissed off!

    • I’ve put up a feedback page, comments like this would be good there as I can direct support to all player feedback there, but I’ve actually highlighted this to them, and asked for a confirm you want to do this pop up to come up before spending anything to buy land.

  6. All the bonus characters unlocked that i usually have “go for gold” now have a purpose to gather material from Quakea, but I now see another purpose to put them back in the resort to unlock green and red bucks to unlocks land in the alternative quahog too. Be prepared to spend all that useless Loney we’ve racked up over the years now too and some areas of land require 100 clams.

I can’t wait to get the Alternate Quahogs!! I have the beta version, but I don’t have access to the new features. I’ve been playing since the beginning and have a Whole lot of things in storage. My Hotel is filled completely with more characters making gold coins.. So excited for the possibilities

  9. My coin counter has shown 50m for years. Now that coins are useful and there are lands that cost 1m to clear, that number will diminish quickly. My question is whether I actually have way more than 50m, I should. Also will there be any tasks to perform in alternate Quohogs other than clearing land. I’m cool with just having new places to put my 100s of buildings and decos. With all these myriad tasks, time will move real slow accomplishing them, especially since I abandoned Tan Lines when Qhs started and characters are hitting the 10000 mark to obtain. Game will be in play for a long time.

    • I can’t answer for certain but from what I’m told towns will develop so we might see Questlines.

Your coins will be between 50m and 60m, 50m is not the max

  10. Planning to make Winterland into a Christmas Town…with all the Christmas stuff from storage, and not sure what I’ll do with GrassTown. Maybe a Superhero/ComicCon thing? Music Festival with the many Musicians and such? Taking my time on it, but its nice to have this option and see buildings long since stored and forgotten.

  11. I’m have this update. So far, I don’t see a point in it, unless your someone that wants more space to design a town (which im not). I also don’t see Desert Town as being available in my game.

  14. I’ve got Grassland and Winterland, and as Matthew pointed out, you can shell out 674 Clams for Desert Town. I did purchase an additional worked to clear Grassland as that only requires coins and Stewie Bucks to clear (so far) – Winterland requires more stuff from tasks by characters. I looked through the task list for clearing Winterland areas and it includes a lot of characters that would only be gathering medals or wasted in Tan Lines, so that’s good.

Really hope they expand the use of Stewie Bucks – I’ve got a bunch collected and was hoping they’d come up with a method for us to use them.

Characters that are in the game but not on task will show up in the alternate Quahog as well, so I’m guessing that’s how we earn the Winterland stuff.

I’m really liking the fact TC/JC – warts, glitches and all – is providing new content for us addicts.

All NPC’s transfer over to whatever Quahog you’re currently looking at, so why can’t workers? Particularly if you’ve already paid for them, and can’t use them anymore in original Quahog. That’s just a cheeky cashgrab by Tinyco.

And 674 clams for Desert Town. No thanks.

    • You don’t have to buy new workers for the new towns. Each of them has its own worker and it’s free to use them. I’ve tried this. You don’t need to spend real money or clams (save for premium stuff of course).
I don’t like the NPC’s transfer though. I have them as decoration in one area and would like them to stay there

    • The only NPC’s I see carried over to the Alternate Quahogs are the ones that move around town, usually on the streets. I normally don’t have those out because they annoyingly tend to get in the way when I’m trying to tap the event characters also roaming the streets. NPC’s are technically decorations, but it is strange that those particular NPC’s would transfer over like that, so it’s probably a glitch.

As for the workers, each town will have one worker and you will need to spend clams to purchase additional workers. But I don’t see the need to have more than one worker at this point as this new concept is still being ironed out and some of the blocks require getting items for them. Besides, the way I see it, most of my time will be spent playing the events and occasionally checking in on the Alternate Quahogs.

      • I can’t say if everyone else sees the same costs as I have. But so far, I’ve used:
Grassland:. Coins to unlock. Coins to buy land (around 2.5M in total). Stewie bucks to buy water. 500 Clams to unlock the ‘bottom’ row of land. (5 x 100 clams).
Winter land: Coins to unlock. Coins to purchase QUAKEA. Materials earned through tasks to buy land. 5 x 100 Clams to unlock the ‘top’ row of land.
Nighttown:. 400 Clams to unlock. Haven’t spent that yet so I don’t know what’s inside.

I’ll try and keep track of the Winter Town drop requirements as I start to unlock it.
