Glitch Alert – IOS & Android Crashing Issues….

Just wanted to put up a post about a growing issue that seems to be mainly impacting IOS players.

Ok, what’s happening, well it would appear the game is playing up and crashing on IOS devices, mainly IPhones, and especially the IPhone 6. I don’t know if this is just an update glitch or the game becoming unstable on the older IPhone 6, I’m hoping it’s the former and a fix can bring you all back to the game.

Please reach out to support about this, either via the website or email. I’ve made them aware of it as well.

UPDATE BELOW – 30th July

Getting notifications from players that Android devices are also experiencing issues. Jam City are looking into all of this, they are also following this post so please keep posting your d vice & glitch details.

  1. I have an IPhone 6s Plus and as of today the game will not even load. It crashes every single time just before. Prior to this it was crashing while playing the game. I managed to correct it slightly by switching to low graphics mode but was very slow. I have deleted everything I possibly could from my phone and have 80 gigs available. I have deleted the app today and reinstalled. The problems continues with not loading.

    Is everyone still having issues playing on iOS?
    I play the game on my Android and have no issues at all but I’m trying to start a new game on my iPhone 6s and it keeps crashing and I can’t get past earning Chris in the very beginning. Please anyone with ideas or suggestions help me as I love this game..

    So even though the “PIE” event has ended I still have the same issue. Can’t update to new event because it crashes out immediately. I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling but still no joy. Haven’t heard anything from Jam City either. Looks like I’ll be giving up on the game, which is a pity as I’ve been playing for a long time.

  4. Same issue on iPhone 8plus. Customer support is blaming my device. Tried low vis graphics, clearing my browser, didn’t help. They went so far as to telling me to put items back in storage! I thought the multiverse was added for exactly the opposite reason! Very frustrating!

    • Yeah big issues. But I can only suggest putting things in storage to see if it does help, one or two players have said it’s let them play the event at least

      • Doing that (or rather, nuking my entire Quahog, and then only placing essential items) used to help for me maybe five months ago, but it really stopped working for these recent glitchy events as well as the previous patch of glitchy events, before they announced about two months ago that version 3.0.1 of the game would actually fix the Connection Lost error – which it did for maybe a month before it came back again in full effect, probably starting with the update to version 3.1.2 around a month ago or version 3.2.0 three weeks ago. I know I’ve mentioned this previously, so if I’m one of those players you’re referring to, you should subtract at least one of them for the current situation

        • The issues are getting worse and impacting more & more players. Hoping they can get it fixed soon or I think there will be a player exodus

  5. Had the bad crashing ever since the update with the multiverse. Contacted them and got some help then yesterday’s update crashing started again. This time they had me delete and reinstall. I did and now when game finally loads it crashes immediately so it’s now unplayable. Any thoughts as to what to do since I can’t even stay in the game long enough to respond with the results to their reply

    • You can email them, others have same issue so think it’s going need a bigger fix than the current clearing caches

  6. iPhone 7+ here and lots of crashing. It doesn’t seem to save up to the minute and when I get back in I need to redo some things I had previously completed. Does anyone know what the timing is on the autosave?

    Been experiencing the same issue. It started yesterday when the Phase 3 of the current event started. Before it crashed from time to time after some minutes, but now it doesn’t even open the app 😦 (btw, I have and iPhone 6)

  9. I Play on an IOS device and it crashes the same way it did with the Facebook problems. Not logged into Facebook. Game seems to crash on desired events. Longtime player hopeful for a fix but starting to recognize a pattern

  10. Iphone 11 Pro Max 256GB, iOS 13.6. Not every time, maybe three times out of 4, the game will just crash-close. Sometimes it’s when switching to an alternate Quahog (or Ollieland before the alternate lands dropped), sometimes it’s when collecting from QHS, and sometimes it’s just random. I’ve been lucky enough to not have had a crash while in a battle. When I restart the game it’s fine the second time around (never had a second crash immediately following the first). QHS is usually pretty slow to collect from also, especially if a character is leveling up. It’s nothing that’s been game-breaking for me, more of a mild and temporary inconvenience.

    I wonder if it might be worth their while to just basically rewrite the whole game? We keep seeing evidence of old pieces of code surfacing during gameplay (revive capsules being a prominent example), and old questline randomly appearing. Maybe over time the game has just become too bloated? Though if it were that simple they most likely already would have.

  11. Mine just started today. After updating my iPhone 7 to iOS 13.6 I’ve had some crashing issues with every game I play, but after updating this game today I can’t play for more than 60 seconds without it crashing.

      • So I fixed my game. Not sure it’ll work for everyone but I went to General > iPhone Storage > Family Guy > Offload App then Reinstalled the game and restarted the phone. Haven’t had a crash since I posted yesterday.

      • I’ve reported my glitches on here and contacted support, but it’s gotten worse, the game is unplayable now.
        I’ve cleared the data and cache, even reinstalled and the game is running even slower and usually crashes within a minute. I can’t even contact support via the game as it crashes!

  12. I’m having similar issues on my Android. My game loads and crashes within 2 minutes, it’s making the game unplayable.
    The annoying thing is the game lasts longer in Winterland before crashing

    Yeah, I’m on an iPad Pro (9.7inch) from 2016 that crashes every time. It happens when I complete tasks or send to tasks. Or when I switch worlds or try to redeem all coins.

  16. Intermittent game crashes have been happening on my iPhone 8 Plus ever since the historical society first got put in. I reported it to the developers, but never got a response. I’ll send “X” amount of people to the building, and it’ll crash. I’ll reload it and suddenly I have to put 40+ characters back on that job and am allowed to keep going until it crashes again at some random point and repeats. It keeps me from wanting to do that part of the game more than once or twice a day (if I even do it twice now).

On a 2018 iPad Pro 12” with latest game update, intermittent crashing, sorry, “unexpected closure of game interface” when changing worlds, I have not been able to discern a pattern yet, have had it happen when going from Quahog to both Grass and Winter, from Ollieland to Grass and “home”, but then I have done the same movements with no issues as well. Not consistent enough to fix cause.

  19. My Android phone is suffering exactly the same since the last update. Tiny have tried to reset, but still it crashes immediately or shortly after loading.

Don’t know if the Connection Lost error counts as something related or not, but I’ve had this on and off some time ago and then around a month ago or so, there was an updated version (3.0.1) in the AppStore which said “Fixes: -Connection lost error fix, -Clams modal pop up fix, where Alternate Quahogs is first mentioned as a new feature. Since then the problem has been gone until AQ was actually available in my game. Sometime after that, it started to appear again, and it only seems to be getting worse. It’s obviously not a device issue, since it was indeed fixed in a previous update. But it’s definitely ******* up my game, big time

    • Device is iPhone 7 on iOS 13.5.1 (I’m updating now to 13.6 just to see if it helps) and the game version is 3.2.0

      • Updating iOS didn’t help, also tried deleting the game, restarting my phone, and then reinstalling the game. Didn’t make any real difference as far as i could tell. The issue itself appears to kick in after some time spent in the game, and it looks like at least some of what I did is saved the next time I go into the game. Also, on some rare occasions the Lost Connection message will go away and I can continue playing, even though it tends to come back after some time again and then just stay

      • Updating iOS didn’t help the least, and neither did uninstalling the game, then restarting my iPhone and reinstalling the game. It did appear to work just a short while ago, except for the random Lost Connection pop up that actually did disappear quite quickly. So I’ve spent a considerable amount of time (as I have almost all the characters available in the game, save for a few that I’ve missed – mainly due to various errors and glitches, that is) moving characters into either the museum or the resort hotel, depending on whether they are on their maxed out level or not. Unless they’re needed in the event, as an obvious exception. When I’m actually done I decide to visit the alternate Quahogs and last but not least Ollieland to make sure it’s all saved properly. Going back from Ollieland, the game just crashes and when i go back in again, guess what? NOTHING OF WHAT I DID WAS SAVED! AT ALL! That’s just lovely, isn’t it?

        • I changed the quality of the game in setting to use low memory graphics and it all seems to work fine after I closed out and came back in after adjusting that setting. It at least appears to work for now. I adjusted it 2-3 days ago without any hiccups since.

          • Unfortunately, that doesn’t work for me at all. I can’t seem to get past Happily Never After part 1 in week 4 as nothing is saved of what I’m doing before Connection Lost pops up and won’t go away no matter if I just wait or click the Retry button

  21. Started around end week 1 of current event on my iphone 6, game kicks out after 1 or 2 steps made in the game, decided to exit unless bug fixed.

    I read your post and apparently I’m not the only one so I let them know it’s an iPhone 6 .. but really why should it crash ? it’s an excellent phone with good memory and processor !!
    Waiting for their reply … I can’t believe I’m missing out on the HOTTEST LOIS EVER !!

  24. I’m pretty sure I mentioend this last week or the week before and you had replied that no one else had the issue. Reconnecting facebook seemed to work but I’m not sure if that is an actual fix or just placebo.

      Nno one else was on the site was commenting about having this issue when you commented back at start July, this has just appeared with the more recent updates and most the comments have been in last week. Players have tried reinstalling which requires reconnecting Facebook and no difference I’m afraid.

  25. Mine has been crashing about every time I play and I am on Android. I open the app after a while, then play for about a minute and it crashes. Open it again and I can play normally. Rinse and repeat when I open it after not playing for a few hours.

    • This is exactly what I experience, Android as well. My in-game support hasn’t worked in months, well before the duplicate/triplicate issue, so it’s definitely harder to contact them as they layer their contact page to seemingly discourage people from contacting them with that avenue.
