Event News – Evil Wizard Carter Drop Change

Hi fellow addicts

As many of you will be aware they have fixed Evil Wizard Carter’s drops which means you’ll now need to defeat him 5 times instead of 1 to get the Fortune Favors for unlocking Holy Knight Cleveland. As much as the original drops were a mistake, I know defeating him 5 times will now be a very tough ask for players and is extremely disappointing as you thought you only had to defeat him once. I’d therefore ask you stress your disappointment, politely, in this post and I can bring it to supports attention. It would be a shame for this to sour what’s been a quite well paced event.

  2. It’s very annoying. It would have been nice to have more than just Rogue Brian attack him. Maybe even if it was just Dragonmire Baby too so that Season Pass folks got a little extra.

  4. I have placed a complaint for this with support. I have spent too much money and too much time to be *** over like they’re intending to do on this event. I will either be given the amount of drops that I was told that I would receive, or I will be finally done with this game for good. This is as polite as I intend to be.

  5. I was getting ready to send a comment to the powers that be when I read your post. It actually makes it impossiuble to get the number of Fortunes Favor needed to free the new Cleveland character. Unless you are willing to spend actually real money for clams or use several hundred clams already in your posession to free up more characters that can attack the evil wizard Carter.
It took me 28 hours to defeat him once – there isn’t enough time to do that for 5 drops. I might have started earlier in the session had I known that I needed to beat him 5 times instead of just once – the players shouldn’t be held accountable for their goof.
In this case they messed up big time and might as well just never have offered the character in the first place.
They should go back to having him only needing to be beaten once, at this point, to free up the needed Fortunes Favor. So anyone who has already beaten the wizard once should have their Fortunes Favor unlocked.

  6. This will be impossible even if you have premium characters to help out. It’s a shame since this was a pretty good event until now

  7. For a freemium player it would take around 9 days at least to unlock Holy Knight Cleveland. To have only one character that can make an attack, who can deliver a blow of 4, on a character that will need six attacks to defeat, is just ridiculous. Brian takes 7 hours to heal. It’s made the final phase unachievable for anyone who missed the glitch and is a freemium player.

  8. There’s only one freemium character to attack EWC with. Given Brian only inflicts 4 damage, that’s six hits, Carter invariably defeats Brian each time, and each time requires a healing time of seven hours. That’s not even taking into account generating enough potions for al those hits. It’s irrational. Absolutely no way I’ll get HKC.

  9. Support seems to be aware of the issue. I contacted them about the mathematical impossibility of the task and they replied that they were looking into it and gave me two fortune’s favor so it is now definitely doable. Hopefully they will change the game requirements but you might want to submit a support ticket in case they make the change too late. I have to say they were very responsive considering I contacted them on a Saturday and they replied within a few hours. Thanks, RT for spearheading this effort.

  10. Disappointing is an understatement.
Basically, in order to fix a mistake made by them they decide to change the rules mid game and end up screwing all the dedicated freemium players because, apparently, basic math is too hard…

  11. I did the math. With only rouge Brian, it would take 8.75 days with perfect timing, which is impossible. How is that reasonable?

  12. It wouldn’t be bad if they didn’t remove meg/Brian (cant remember which) from helping fight carter. Now i only have Steele that can fight carter since i don’t have the clams to unlock peter or quagmire and still have yet to seen how to get Louis. Stewie only getting to land 4 damage while taking a 1 hit knock out every 8hrs is rediculous. Very disappointing and does not encourage me to keep playing as it used to.

  13. This is now an impossible task. I have successfully defeated Carter once, and just managed to take 4 points off Carter for round 2. With a healing time of 7 hours for Brian, and only 3 days left of the event, there is no way to manage unless I buy several more event characters. I have already bought the season pass and the Herbert + 4 x cauldrons package deal, and don’t want to buy more characters for the event.
Nice event so far, but this last hurdle is disappointing and unnecessarily difficult, I feel.

  17. Defeating Evil Wizard Carter will be nearly impossible for those of us that don’t buy clams. Very disappointing. Not everyone can spend money on a game like this and through hard work, try to get all the characters we can. Plus I hate leaving a challenge un-won. It would be nice if another already unlocked or earned character could help Brian so it didn’t take so long to bring him down. Or lower the hits on him.

  18. I was one of the no doubt many that looked at the drop, thought that must be a mistake and left defeating him till later so I could use the only character able to defeat him to attack other monsters.
I would have changed my tactic for the entire week had I known – a sarcastic thanks to Tiny Co……
Thanks for bringing this to our attention Russian Tigger! 🙂 – I for one would not have known about the change at all due too the fact Tiny Co hanged it on the sly….

  20. I know this sounds extra but…this is what just made me finally delete the game. Hung in through the constant crashes, even on a new iPad. Watched way too many ads. Looked like an event I might actually finish, but nope. Not at a few points every 7 hours. I give up.

  21. I did the math. If you started attacking Evil Wizard Carter as soon as the final event started, using only Rogue Brian and only getting a hit of 4 (no double strength hits), then attacking every 7 hours when Rogue Brian is healed, you would collect the 5 Fortune’s 2-1/2 days after the event ends.

    Like

  22. Now the Evil Wizard Carter can only be battled by Rogue Brian for 4 damage there is no way to get this done it seems. If another character we’ve unlocked could be used or if Brian would do more damage that would be very helpful.

  23. Just spotted this. Seriously, how are you supposedto defeat him 5 times with just Brian? I got to this point at the start of today with 4.5 days left. He does 4 damage out of 24. I got lucky with a double hit, then a single. 7 hour healing i think. So i have half taken him down once in the day?! With a bit of luck with double hits, i might beat him twice before the event ends.

Why only 1 of the previously unlocked characters?

  24. This is very disappointing. I defeated Carter this morning only to find out I have to beat him 4 more times. I’m giving up until the new event starts.

    Like

  25. Oh you mean how many times you have to fight him for 1 drop? I just finished 1 fight this morning and I only had to fight him 4 times for it?

    Like

  26. How have they changed it? I saw it needed 5 items from the very beginning of the phase as he needed 5 fortunes favor (and it stated they were 96 clams for each at the bottom) so I’m confused by this post?

  27. I did the math for this. Assuming you timed EVERYTHING perfectly with rogue Brian (I didn’t buy any premium characters) it would take 8.75 days to get all of the items for Cleveland from Carter. It is literally impossible to do. How is that reasonable?

  28. Pretty much destroyed my hopes…

  29. I was already struggling with getting any Cauldrons. (6/15 so far)
Now asking us to defeat Wizard Carter FIVE times instantly makes this phase impossible to complete. Very disappointing.

  30. we can moan about this, and many other things all we like but at this point in proceedings absolutely nothing will be done about it.

The reality is that Carter is impossible to defeat 5 times given that the ONLY freemium character that can fight him is Rogue Brian and needs to attack SIX times with a recovery of 7 hours each time… to get ONE fortunes favour.

You don’t even need to do the maths to realise this is impossible to achieve in the time we have.

Why on earth need 5? Given how this is, Id have said 2 would have been just about achievable…
As always, other tweaks could have saved this from being impossible. Raise Brians hit power so less attacks are needed… or let another character fight him as we have for the Morts we are spoiled for choice fighting him.

Anyway none of this will be done and Id think almost nobody (freemium players anyway) would be able to get this.

  31. It’s bad enough that the cauldron drops have been abysmal. 1 drop in 3 days. Now this? I just beat Carter and noticed the change. Went from trying to giving up. It’s not possible to beat him 5 times. Another event that just brings frustration.

  32. 5 defeats with just 1 freemium character is impossible. Plus, I paced myself for needing only 1 defeat. Thanks for looking after us, RT!

  33. I’ve been fighting Carter for two days and haven’t beaten him once. His health is too high for the one fighter I have to easily defeat him. And even buying him outright with clams will cost an astronomical amount

    Like

  34. It is impossible to defeat him 5 times now. Since only 4 damage he has to be fought 4 or 5 times to defeat. I don’t remember how much to deafest. Then there is 7 hours of heal time. This has been a nice event but the end blows

  35. Glad you put this update – I thought I was going mad as I saw it said Evil Carter would drop 15 then when I killed him it only dropped 1. This is so frustrating, I had completing the phases of this event in good time and now there is no way I can complete it or get Holy Knight Cleveland without spending clams.

  36. With the exception of this I think it’s been an extremely well paced event and I would be saying well done to them, so it’s rather disappointing.

If they just included a second freemium character so we could hit for more than 4 points a turn (up to 6 x 7 hours needed per Favor!!) then it would be in keeping with the pace of the rest of the event.

Right now I’m on Pt. 7 of the main questline and only need Cauldrons and Favors and only have 1/5 Favors, so to say it seems a little unbalanced would be an understatement.

  37. Yes, this is very disappointing. You can only use Brian to defeat Carter to win Cleveland (without purchasing a character) and at only 4 points per pop with 6 hours between to recharge, it’s doubtful that I’ll be able to earn this character. Not a good look.

    Like

  38. This is dumb! I’ve just beaten him for the first time after 3 days. No chance of 4 more wins in 4 more days. He has too much power and the fighters too little. Oh and he isn’t there all the time. And I certainly won’t pay 96 clams for each of the 3 wins I won’t get to secure the character. A great event ruined by stupidity!

  39. This is utter garbage and a total disappointment. What poor programming. Most yet is unless you buy additionally characters, the only character that can even challenge Carter is Brian and he only hits for 4…but is totally defeated…so it takes 6-8 fights (with 8 hour rest in between) to take him down once…they made it impossible!!! Done with this game if they don’t fix it!!!

  40. Evil Wizard Carter has 24 health. The only character I have to fight him is Rogue Brian, who does 4 damage. Even with perfect timing, it will be very difficult, if not impossible to get Holy Knight Cleveland. I also refuse to pay 96 clams per missing item. I agree that this has been a nice event so far, but while I will continue to play in the hopes that Jam City adjusts the drops with enough time to complete my character set, this situation does make me frustrated. I am very disappointed the drops were adjusted to be not in the player’s favor and I really hope Jam City makes some positive changes in this situation, like lowering the health, adding more characters to fight, or increasing the item drops per fight.

  41. This is a terrible change in the middle of the week. I didn’t attempt to fight him till the end since I knew I only had to defeat him once. How do they change it in the last 3 days? Now it’s impossible to defeat him 5 times. If they made a mistake they should stick with it if it’s to the benefit of the player. Now it’s either buy characters with clams or don’t finish the event.

    Like

  42. It is an impossible task as only 1 character can be used to defeat him when playing Freemium. It takes about 4 to 5 times to beat him and with the heal time it just can’t be done.

    Like

  43. Totally agree. Every 7 hours and only 4 damage. I only defeated him once and working on the second. At this pace I will not get to the 5 times of defeating him at the end of the event.

  44. Thank you for pointing this out. It’s extremely disappointing given how much health Carter has and only one free character (Brian) can attack him. Makes it virtually impossible to unlock Cleveland without buying characters.

  45. I wasn’t aware that they changed this. I had Barbarian Peter and plenty of vials, so I defeated Carter early on, because I though I had to fight him 5 times and was surprised that I got enough to unlock Cleaveland in one fight. Thought it was very strange, but some of his other drops were messed up too, like 50 of the scrolls for unlocking buildings, when you only needed a total of 16 for unlocking all four buildings.

  46. It’s always been 5 for me, as far as I know. And yes, probably impossible to do without buying another character with clams.

  47. I can only thank you for having a game perfectly usable in freemium mode; precisely for this reason it is surprising and sad that the goal of the week (holy Cleveland) is not simply difficult to achieve but objectively impossible

This is a very disappointing change. It makes unlocking Holy Knight Cleveland five times as difficult! Seems unfair right at the end of the event.

  49. So here is my message to Tiny Co: (apologize for length)

You made holy knight Cleveland nearly impossible to get without spending any clams (and now you are punishing those of us that were unlucky before you changed the fortune drop for carter)….

Here is the math to get the 5 required fortunes:
I only have rouge Brian doing 4 damage with 40% critical to do damage….assuming I get no crits….here is the math:
    6 times @ 4 damage = 24 HP = 1 Fortune with a 7 hour cool down per attack = 42 hrs

    42 hrs x 5 fortunes = 210 hours = 8.75 days (that is assuming no crits)

I got 2 crits and I have him down to 4/24 and even that is still 7 days to just get 4 more….

Even if I get 2 crits per, so that is 4 tries @ 7 hours = 28 hours to just get 1
28 * 4 = 112 hours = 4.6666 days (thats assuming I don’t sleep and don’t miss an few minutes or hours here and there)
It’s nearly impossible!! Considering there are only 5 days 13 hours left……
Thank you for reaching out to us. I’ll be glad to assist you with your concern.

    HERE IS Tiny CO’s Reply:

We appreciate that you took the time to share with us your thoughts about the event and its difficulty. We understand that dealing with high HP enemies can be a difficult and time-consuming if you don’t have many characters to help you.
I shared your concerns with our dev and design teams for review. Hopefully see a rebalance soon. Stay tuned for possible changes.

To help you out with the event, I reduced Carter’s HP to 1. I hope you find this useful.

I hope you have a great day, and please stay safe.

If you need anything else, please let us know. We are always happy to help.

    Kind regards,

    ————
    My thoughts….
Thanks for them reducing him to 1 HP (that does save time) and let me. defeat carter for the 2nd time (last night) so I’m still at 3 and was able to hit him this AM for 4……

So, there are currently 4 day 2 hrs left, I need 3 more fortunes…..
I know you reduced carter to 1 HP which I am grateful for which got me to 3….
But with only Brian (even at 40% crit)…
I need 20/24 HP to got so that is 5 times * 7 hours = 35 hrs to get one more….
    Then 42 + 42 +35 = 119 hrs = 4.983 days which is greater than what is left….

98 / 7 = 14 attempts left (assuming I don’t miss any b/c of sleep or anything)….And I currently need 17 attacks to to get the 3 which means I need at least 3 critical hits just to have enough time (If I’m lucky as 40% is basically a coin flip)…

Hopefully they rebalance soon….like reducing the HPs of Carter, or let other freemium characters (like they did before I think) assist with Carter, or reducing the # of fortunes to 3

IMO, you should be able to realistically defeat a character once every 24 hrs…more than that is just unreasonable as each “week” is only 7 days….

Sorry for this long but I hate when they ruin a decent/good event by doing something stupid without doing “math” first to see if it is even a reasonable goal…..

  50. I agree. What a way to put a negative mark on a fun event. It’s just unbalanced with the rest of it. I have 600+ swords but I have to wait for Rogue Brian to heal 7 hours probably up to 20 times to get Holy Knight Cleveland? What’s the point of even trying? Which means they’ve lost my attention and interest. Even though I’m freemium, I can and have been swayed by the ads I watch to speed things up. But I guess they are willing to risk losing my audience.
