Fast Forward Feature – Discussion Post

I get lots of comments about the Fast Forward Feature, mostly now asking why has it disappeared from my game. Well, as many of you know I’ve never had the feature so can’t say much, but other addicts have commented in the past about how the feature works and why they think it comes and goes from their game. I’m asking those Addicts to explain their thoughts on this post so when players search for the answer they can find it easily in your comments.

  1. I’ve never had it so I’m not adding anything worthwhile to the convo but it’s interesting to hear people confirm suspicions about it not becoming an active feature until you’re below a certain threshold of clams – which seems to be somewhere between 750-1250.

I kept a reserve of about 1000 clams and have done for a few yrs now waiting for something decent to buy (which hasn’t happened since they stopped doing licensed events/characters) so me and many other players with stored clams may have also been selected to ‘test’ this feature but just never seen it in action.

  2. I’ve had it for a long time now. Sometimes it stops working after a while, but I think that’s just because it only allows you to use it a certain amount of times, and then after however many hours, possibly 12 or 24 it resets. That’s my observation from my game any way.

  3. Fast forward feature from my experience, this is more of a comment than a Russian Tigger type post. All information from playing only, so feel free to add, edit and comment at will.
Not sure when the FF feature first appeared in my game as it didnt become apparent until my clam level fell below a certain limit. When I had 1600 clams it wasnt there but once I had spent a load I could then use FF. I guess its at around 750 level ( but not confirmrd). The feature works by watching a 30 second advert to reduce a task or a drop by 2 hours or finishing it if less than a 2 hours. This helps collecting materials for characters, unlocking building and completing quests and questlines. Seems to work on most buildings and character tasks. For example an 8 hour task can be completed on 2 minutes by FF 4 times.
To use the feature click on the task or building, when the timer bar comes up on the right hand side will be the finish with clams button and another button with either 2H or triangle (to finish). Click on it watch the advert and collect the reward.
I’ve found that you can use it about 12 (but not confirmed) times a day, so it can wise to proritise your use of it, ie dont go wasti ng it. This can be a really useful feature, especially with tricky to get materials. Hope this helps.

  4. RT, have you asked TinyCo about the fast forward feature, what specifically triggers it or if completely random? Frankly, it does appear to be related to how many clams…or not….a player has. While I was not able to specifically pinpoint the number, the feature does seem to be active when clams are > 1,200 I lost the feature for a very long time when I had around 1,400 clams. Now that I am and stay just under 1,200 the feature has remained.

    • Yes,I’ve asked but it’s not information they wish to share with players, hence I’m asking players help each other out with information.

  5. I’ve had the FF feature constantly for 18months maybe.
It disappeared once for awhile and it seemed to be after/between updates but around the same time I started spending clams on season passes, etc, not purchased just accumulated clams.
So I wonder if it’s a clam spend/amount accumulated/period of not using clams kind of thing?
I know I can only use it about 6-8 times in a row before a brief downtime also.
    I love it either way.

  7. I noticed it disappears when I reach 1250 claims. If I stay under that amount the feature is there.

  9. This feature (in my game) absolutely is triggered when I drop below 1250 clams. I have gone over that at least 3-4 times, and the feature disappeared each time, then came back when I bought a character or Mystery Box, and dropped below 1250.

  10. If my clam count goes over around 1,200, the feature disappears. If I keep my clams below that, it generally works.

It seems broken though. I think it was supposed to a feature that can only be used a few times in a 24 hour period. I can use it over and over, but it gets wonky and glitches (gets stuck on the screen, etc.). If it disappears, I can either tap around town on different buildings until it reappears. It also tends to reappear if I hard close the game and reopen it. Sometimes, if I’ve used it excessively, it disappears for several hours, but comes back within 24 hours.

  12. My Fast Forward disappears if I have 1250 clams. But it reappears when it drops below that.

  13. I had gotten this reply from Support in-game after noticing the video fast-forward was not appearing. (Oddly, when this reply appeared, it was back to being available in my game ):

“ It has come to our attention that ads are not always available in all areas. Ads are dependent on your geographical location, device, time of the day, and several other factors.

This situation is (unfortunately) outside our control; however, we’re actively working with our providers to make sure ads are available as soon as possible.

As a player myself, I really understand how you feel about this feature not currently available, and I know how useful the fast-forward option is to our players, but eventually when new ads are available you will be able to use this option.”

I’m not sure what to think about that, it seems to be sort of a dodgy thing. I can’t imagine a situation where the internet cannot come up with ads.

    • The thing is that I can watch normal ads for clams, but the FF feature disappeared after a few months when it first came out. Apparently it’s all to do with how many clams you have, so they penalise players with higher amounts of clams by forcing them to use them to rush tasks. I would much rather have an ad run instead of wasting my clams.

      • I do understand what you are saying, but I think we need to see the other side of the coin… I remember, way back, when I started playing, and had ZERO Clams. It was a struggle to do anything in the game, without Clams or even Coins. I think this feature is SUPPOSED to be aimed at those people: They can now “rush” things (by 2 hours at a time), without using up those precious Clams. Of course, some people will buy Clams, and some will scrimp and save Clams, but in any case, if you have thousands of them, why should TC/JC give you free features, rather than expecting you to use up the Clams you have? And, if you do use some up, you eventually get below that threshold (whatever it is in your game), and now you can FF again.
In the spirit of fairness, even though I am a long-time player, and have had thousands of Clams at some points in time, I am now sitting around 1000, and I use the FF feature to complete some tasks before heading for bed, or out of the house, if there is a bit of time left before an important drop. However, if I am in a big hurry, or feel that I might not “deserve” a free speed up, I just drop a Clam or two instead! (I have also used FF in place of the often requested “Cancel” button: “Augh! I shouldn’t have sent Meg on that 8 hour task!” Well, for 4 videos, I can bypass that 8 hours, and put Meg on the right task. 🙂
IMHO: If you are using FF to actually play the whole game, completing events in a few days, you are not really playing the game as it is intended to be played.

  14. I have the feature in my game. It seems like you can use it a limited number of times per day. I think it’s usually close to 10-12 uses per day. Sometimes I have to force close the game and reopen to get it back, but after it’s used for the day, you don’t get the option again until the following day. Not sure if the number of clams saved has anything to do with it, but I have just under 900 saved up since I rarely use them for anything. As for the actual fast forward, it’s a 30 second (or so) ad for another game each time.

  15. I personally think “fast forward” should’ve been available to ALL players, that’s just common sense .it’s funny they only make ads depending where you live(that’s coming from support)smh.fast forward would be awesome, but I don’t know, never had it.

  16. Hi
Ive had this feature for years. You seem to get a set amount each day. Some days i have about 8 chances to fast forward, some days its over 20 or more
Some days the feature isnt there until i refresh or re click on a building a few times
Not sure what the selection criteria for it might be
