Update 2/6 9:15 am EST: I know many of you are having issues with the PDA couples. They’re rough, I know. Here’s a tip that many readers have mentioned in the comments & something Bunny & I have found to work as well…Watch the limbs when they stop. If his leg goes up it’s a heart if her arm goes up it’s a broken heart. So make sure you’re watching when they STOP. And I know 2 minutes is rough to watch/tap…best thing to do if you think you need more time is send a request to TinyCo. We know they listen, so hopefully they’ll make an adjustment if enough people feel it’s needed. Good Luck!

A couple of initial observations…the snow is gone and Quahog is green again!
The event ends on February 26th. So it’s a shorter event…but still should be fun!

Like events of Tiny Quahog past…there’s an event district located in the top center of your Quahog. Here’s what it looks like:
Remember…you cannot move buildings/decorations inside of this area.
Tapping on the giant heart in the middle will bring up the Affection Meter.

What is the Affection Meter?
You can build either Love or Hate in the Affection Meter by shooing Enamored Couples (Hearts) or Angry Couples (Broken Hearts). When you reach one end of the Affection Meter, you’ll win a prize!
You can view the Affection Meter by tapping on the cupid’s big, illuminated heart.
The prizes for Love and Hate are different, so be sure to take a look at the Affection Meter page in the event hub for a list of prizes. You can only choose one!

The Couples
There are two types of couples…Fighting Couples and Enamored Couples. BUT they’re the exact same couple. What determines which heart you get is when you tap on them. You have to watch them closely…if he starts to dip her… you will get a love heart and they will start walking again shortly after… if she starts to yell at him…gotta be ready cuz she will slap him and you got to tap them between that yelling and smack to get hate heart. So pay attention to what they’re doing to make sure you get the right one.

So what’s the spawn rate? (again from TinyCo’s FAQ)
Couples will spawn every four hours. After they appear, these couples will only be available for two minutes. Shoo them away before they get a room!
Remember when they appear you only have 2 minutes to clear them. A timer will appear in your game in the bottom right corner. Watch it to make sure you get them all before time runs out!

Game Currency
The Game Currency for this event is Valentines Cards. These will be used to purchase unique event items & unlock various characters (you’ll need them for Handsome Peter for example).
Various characters have Valentine earning tasks. We’ll cover who can do what in another post…but they are out there. You’ll also earn 25 Valentines each time you complete part of the questlines for the Event. And they’ll also drop from event themed buildings.
Handsome Peter
Finally Handsome Peter has arrived in Quahog! Here’s what you’ll need to create him:

Ida Davis
After you start Beautiful People Pt. 6 you’ll get the trigger for Ida Davis. My Fair Lady will start up. You’ll have to repair the Park Bench, which can be found in the Valentine’s Day Event Area. It takes 8hrs and costs 50 Valentines.
Now…IDA IS TIMED!!! You will have 5 days to unlock once you repair the bench. So don’t do it until you’re ready!
Here’s what you’ll need to unlock once ready:
12 Handbags (Uncommon)- Get from: Make Jerome Play Darts OR Make Herbert Be a Peeping Tom
12 Military Ribbons (Common)- Get from: Make Bruce Fret About Something OR Make Jake Tucker Eat Upside Down Kids Meal OR Get From Beach Body Gym OR Make Peter Put on a Gun Show

What About Arnold?
Arnold is supposed to be part of this phase of the event. He is premium (250 Clams) BUT i’ve yet to uncover how to get him. Per TinyCo’s FAQ:
After you start “Clams and Muscles Pt.1,” Arnold Schwarzenegger will become available to purchase in the shop (along with the Action Hero Jet 2600) for 250 clams.
TinyCo has changed the FAQ to show it’s now when Beautiful People ends. Will finish that up and let you know what I find out.
Update: Finally got to a point where I’m able to purchase Arnold. He comes with the Hero Jet, which earns Valentines.
Here’s the benefit to Arnold…he has TWO actions that drop hearts. (broken or regular) Each time you complete it you’ll get 3 hearts (I’m fairly sure it’s an always drop. I’ve done it 3 times and gotten hearts each time. Pretty sweet since each action is only 4hrs to complete!
I’ve completed all the questlines (except for Beautiful People, there’s a part where you’ll need to clear 8 PDA couples so I’m held up at that), unlocked Handsome Peter & Ida Davis…yet I still don’t see the option to buy Arnold. I’ve sent a message to TinyCo about it & will let you know what happens once I know.

I’m having a bit of trouble with the riddles in the coffee shop!
I’ve done a few, I’m up to one that says something about kissing someone you trust (I can’t remember the full riddle).
I’ve tried different match ups for a few days and nothings worked! Any answers/suggestions would be awesome! x

I have over 1000 vday cards and nothing yo do with them. if you don’t spend money on game they aren’t needed once u have at least one of everything.

The pda couples only walk on the roads, if you change the roads to 1 or 2 roads or a cirular route you can keep an eye on all the couples. So 2 mins is long enough.

Just noticed this. The handbags are UNCOMMON yet if you click on Jerome or Herbert they say Chance. The ribbons and pills are the same. Same for Mayor West

Am I the only one that seems to have stalled on PDA affection meter? I have been stuck at 167 hearts for the last two PDA couples spawn. I got all hearts can time but didn’t change number. I don’t know if I should just spend some time on the hate side or what. I didn’t at first because I figured I wouldn’t get a choice because you seem to automatically get prize when you reach certain number on affection meter. That being the case, I’m sort of on the love track no matter what the next prizes are.

On ios. Game crashes constantly since this Valentines update. Anyone else? I’ve deleted , restarted, stood on my head for 5 mins and even cursed at it a 1000xs ….. Nothing’s working to fix

Do you fellow addicts think it’s advisable to keep the love meter at 0 just now, I’m worried if I build up points either way when the next prizes are unlocked the amount collected may be enough for the prize and I will automatically receive this with no chance to change my mind and start to collect the opposite way. Thoughts please?

I would try to decide which way you want to go and start collecting for that direction. If you keep your heart count around 70-75 you should be ok with the meter once Phase 2 hits. You’ll have a good head start on whichever path you choose and if you want to switch back to the other path you can still do that. I think the phase 2 prize will probably cost between 80-100 hearts of either side (if not more)

So I just got to 100 hearts on the love side and it automatically unlocked the next prize tier. It’s for Joe’s Prize. Heart side gives you “Bumper Buddies Bumper Cars”, a decoration. Hate side gives you “Liquid Sorrow Liquor Store”, a building. Wish I knew this ahead of time. I wanted to collect all the new buildings.

It took me just a little less than 2 days to get Ida.
Tricks are to build all of the valentines buildings (wait to collect from them) and time the quests for items as well so You can unlock Ida first, then run around collection items from other characters tasks and the buildings. This will give you a fast head start. But it’s not necessary, since it should be easy enough to complete on time.

It should be in your inventory. Check your whole inventory, sometimes they get placed in weird spots.

I’m almost finished making Ida and Beautiful Peter so I can complete their quests and at Part 2 of Prickely Situation, but have seen no sign of the “Clams and Muscles” quest, when is it supposed to start so I can get Arnold before I don’t need him anymore?

He helps unlock Ida. So if you focus on unlocking Handsome Peter before Ida (which is our suggestion, since Handsome Peter helps with ida as well) then he’s still needed. Plus he helps earn more hearts…which will be needed for the whole event

I tried out cupid Brians box and got the love drone on the 2nd try. One question though, Can I choose the hate path and love path to unlock the gifts on both sides? I see that hot meg is on the love side. I got the first gift for quagmire on the hate side, can I not unlock hot meg any more? Thanks in advance girls

No it’s one or the other for each character. So you can get the building for Quagmire and the hot tub for Peter. But you cannot get Quagmire’s building and the archery set

Got Peter and Quagmire’s Love prize. Have an extra 50 Love collected now. Unlocked Beautiful Peter and over half done for Ida in less that a day working on her.
Have a question about part 8 of the beautiful people quest line. When clearing the 15 PDA couple, is it only the ones that have the red love heart or does it include the purple hate hearts as well?

I have this question. I have the option to repair Ida’s bench, and I’m 2 hot wax away from beautiful Peter. Now does the items for Ida show up after you repair the bench (nnot clicking on the check mark), or after you click on the check mark. Since the theme with the timed characters I’ve come here first before I repair anything. I want to start collecting for Ida now that I have the tunnel built and 100 cards and 2 waxes away from Peter. I would like some clarification as if to repair but don’t click then gather items To avoid the 5 day limit.

After 1 full day since Ida’s been unlocked, I have:
7/12 Handbags
10/12 Military Ribbons
5/10 Hormone Pills (wasn’t able to use Mort for the first day at all he was busy with Meg’s Prison Quest of watching store for 20 hours)
I just got Arnold as well. So hopefully by the end of Day 2, I should be just about done. I also don’t have the Founding Father Skin to help with Ida either..

Yes I noticed. I wondered what the other final prize was as I can only see Meg. What seems stupid to me is that we keep getting hearts choosing a side but we can’t see the next prize. Does this mean you are set on the side you just chose until the end?

So I just want to say thanks for all the information. I personally don’t have the money to be spending on premium items so I just play to the best of my ability without getting some cool things. I love this event. I already finished the first 2 love/hate tasks, have the tunnel of love and am halfway to getting beautiful Peter. I am holding out on Ida at the moment. But want to get her started tomorrow before the next drop on the 12th. So far I’m having a blast with this event and don’t feel cheated like I did with the best of 2014 event. Again thanks for all the great information.
