Nature Weekend is upon us, heading out of our games tomorrow (May 14th), but before then… I wanted to give you an idea of just what the questline holds for those that may not get to it or almost there to complete it. Here is the short version of Bird Beard Peter’s Questline and the Nature Weekend Mini Event.
UPDATE: TinyCo did confirm if you DO Unlock the Costume for Bird Beard Peter you will be able to continue with Naughty by Nature and Watching the Birds.

That completes the Nature Weekend Mini-Event Questlines. If you’re working on unlocking items for Bird Beard Peter, my advice is don’t worry so much about these. Focus mainly on unlocking Him and come back to these when you can

I’m sitting at 85/85 yellow, 11/20 blue, 16/25 pink and 23/26 green despite having all characters and buildings grinding since the beginning. Close to mathematical impossibility at this point. Requests for extension or a reduction in bird #s are going unanswered in-game. It’s been quite a frustrating mini-event, particularly as I refuse to out in any more real $ after such a clam-heavy Star Trek month (though at least there I could understand the impact of licensing/royalties.) If TinyCo wanted to lose the goodwill of their fans this is a good way to go about it.

Missing 3 green which I would probably get in a few hours when all three characters finish their tasks, but still missing 5 more Fuscia to get the skin. Kinda surprised that I’m done with rare blue birds but still missing the uncommon Fuscia birds, looks like the drop rate is lower for them.

So after letting Bonnie and Jerome do their tasks last night, I woke up this morning to find out the game didn’t save my actions! Ugh I’m still missing 4 Fuscia so probably won’t get this outfit…

I get that this game is in place to be a money maker & we can chose whether to buy all the content released every week.
What I DO NOT get is why they continue to use the stupid drop rates to unlock content. This (& the crashing for months) is the major source of what makes the game frustrating instead of fun. They are well aware if they have read even 1/3 of the feedback. Sending characters on tasks should ALWAYS yield the item you need. Period. This is why I am done trying & buying.

Not really a comment to put on a post helping with all the questlines… more for a WTD. 😉
We get what you are saying, really we do. We have issues with it too. It is their “thing”. Each game has something like it. A way of gaming unique to them. All we can do as players is keep doing what we have been, be vocal to them about it. Send suggestions to them via your in game messaging. If you do not like it, let them know… but also be proactive and offer a way you feel it can be done differently to benefit all involved. Constructive criticism really helps in any situation when dealing with gaming houses. We have done just this ourselves. I do it with EA all the time as well. Any gaming house I’ve come into contact with. Offered reasoning as to why we feel this way is a lil grueling to us as players ourselves, but we also offered ways we feel it can change for the better. To benefit all sides. The more of us vocal, the better suggestions, the more we see a change.
End of the day, if you need to take a break… please do. We did after the Star Trek Event. Refocus, relax, step away from the daily grinding. See if it helps. 😉

I probably won’t get this. My need to have everything says but it but the issue with tinyco ignoring my support tickets about disappearing clams will probably be the reason i dont. Grrr i want it! lol oh well

Considering how long it will take to get this skin. Unless the skins quests stick around after the event. No one would be capable of completing those quests without using clams lol 20 hour and multiple 12 hour shifts….wow

Blue birds are not coming through for me, I am pretty sure I won’t make it. Not too bothered though, who really needs another Peter skin we’ll probably never use again. And the decorations for this one are nice, as well.
However, I would really be interested in some statistics for this mini-event. Any chance of a poll?

I’m kinda close to getting birdbeard peter. I was wondering if you know what time it ends tomorrow. If we have until around noon to unlock him then i have a decent chance. Does it end immediately tomorrow, or sometime later in the day. Or is it a mystery for us to find out when exactly it ends. I appreciate your help, thanks.

Can’t believe I actually got the Blue birds. Seems like I had only 3 just a couple days ago, and only ever got one from Rambo Lois. Should have 9 more chances at the green birds (3 for Peter, 2 each for the other 3), so at Common occurrence, I’ve got a good chance at getting the four I need, but with the Fuschia birds only being an Uncommon occurrence, and only having at most 9 more chances (3 each for the characters and the high school), I may have to buy the last one or two.

I’m gonna cut it close on this one. I’m having issues with the blue birds dropping, and the green birds take up to 12 hours to drop.
As of now, I have…
Yellow – 85/85
Blue – 18/20

I’m pretty far off, 10-15 birds short on all but the 85 one. RNG (Random Number Generator) hates me this time, although it liked me well enough in the Trek event.

I don’t think it is quite random, although there are random elements to the algorithm. Someone posted a response from Tiny saying the chances of a drop improve if you’ve tried unsuccessfully for a certain number of times (but the number varies with the item), and truly random events don’t depend on past history. I also suspect that the algorithm takes into account all the tasks that will drop the item. When the log cabin is dry on blue birdies, Chris and his bucket produce the blue birdies virtually all the time. Now my log cabin is producing (just got another one), but Chris is not (he’s skipped the last two times at least). This is like those black box experiments, where you’re given a sealed shoebox and have to figure out what’s in it without opening the box! 🙂
Bunny (I think) suggested once switching tasks for a character to improve chances for a rare item drop, maybe that triggers it when you go back to the original task. Worked to get another headband for Lois when I tried it, but the birdie event is too short and the tasks are too long to try that method of shaking blue birdies out of the tree, er, beard.
I now need 3 blues, 2 fuscias, and 2 greens. The blues are the nail biters since I only have the cabin and Chris to work on them and it seems they are equivalent to just one uncertain source….

Lol. Yes, I posted about many of those things. The Change to drops will adapt the more unsuccessful ones you have to increase odds in your favor.
And yes… sometimes “resetting” the game seems to trigger a change in drops. Like sending a Character on a short 1hr task, then back to grinding.

Would I be able to download my game in the iOS 6 version to my iPhone 4 without messing up my game on my iPhone 5s/iOS 8? Sometime I would like to test how well it would install my current town in case (gods forbid) anything horrible happened on my 5s. Would the town stay the same on the 5s while I tested it on the other phone? Or would I be logged out on the 5s if I downloaded on the 4?

You can switch between devices. However if there is a change in the game itself the other device may ask you to update when you go back to it. It all depends and is hard to say until it happens. Sorry.

But it’s the Perfect Picnic Table! Probably the imperfect one would have been $2500, lol. Besides if you set up an office farm, you can be a multi-millionaire in no time flat with oodles of dollars to spend… I’ve already obtained 8 of the dictator Stewie statues at $150,000 and am working towards my 4th million.

Even without an office farm, I’m sitting on 2.2 million. There was nothing to spend it on really during the ST event, so it kept piling up.
Wish they would have let us use coins or event currency when the event was close to ending or over to buy some of the premium buildings or rooms, since their drop effects would have been worthless at that point.

Yet another event/mini-event where it’s obvious that the Clams are being squeezed out of us… I’m tired of telling TinyCo we need more time to complete their events. Seems like every event, in recent months, has been timed “down to the wire” to extract more dollars/Clams from the players. I’d bet that purely-free players gave-up on a whole lot of stuff, recently, if not just quit playing altogether. Call me jaded / cynical / negative, if you like, but I’m a benefit-of-the-doubt kind of guy. Up until recently, I honestly presumed that they just didn’t have their formulas quite right, or they simply didn’t realize just how bad the drop-rates really were, etc. But, I know premeditated “gaming” of a system when I see it, and that’s what’s been going on, lately. I’ve spent over ~$120 on this game, since I started playing in August of last year, but I’ve gotten so fed-up with razor-thin timelines and half of it being Clam-based that I’m considering making a clean break, myself. And I love this **** game… just ask my friends and family.

If you need a break, I would highly suggest to take one. Seriously. We did. The grind from Star Trek day after day after day was exhausting. So we get that most are having difficulty jumping from one grind to another. This is a very typical TinyCo weekend event. Typical setup, etc… just on the heels of an energy zapping Event, it may just be too much for players right now. We hoped for a lil longer break ourselves. We get their business needs to thrive and can’t just stop, but there are times taking a break is just what is needed. After you run a 24K marathon, you don’t wanna run a 5K too. 😉
So please don’t feel bad if you sit one out. We fully support the decision to do so and encourage it when we see players getting “burnt out”. No matter the game we are writing about. We will still be here to help you regardless. 😉

At the rate this is going, I don’t think I’ll get this skin. I’ve been consistent, but I only have: 85/85 yellow; 16/20 green; 16/25 pink; 25/30 green. It kind of sucks. I spent a lot on Star Trek, so I’m trying to not pay anything here. Too bad.

Just unlocked BBP, no clams spent. I don’t know if I just got lucky or if they upped the drops for the blue birds but I got 11 in the last day or so compared with just 9 in the days before. Hopefully they upped the drops for all.

My current status as of noon today (West Coast California). It’s going to be close, but I’m confident I may complete the skin requirements with little to no clams spent. The questline I will have to ignore, as it seems a bit odd to have Peter, Lois, Chris, Bonnie, Mort, and Jerome pulled off any bird earning task to complete a questline task. I was fortunate to begin this mini event just as TinyCo implemented into the game. I began my builds right away and of course stocked up on limited time decorations. (Those that spoke of having nothing to spend coin on can have their very own park full of overpriced pick – a – nick tables lol) I seem to get more excited over cool decorations than another costume… but some are must haves. I’ll feed my storage with as much as I can, because I love creating flare and pizzazz in my town, even if I have no current plan or space. I’m in it for the long haul, and who knows when I will say “dang I wish I had just one more geyser or owl tree to go right there.”

I am loving the ponds and campfires. Snagged some pic i nic tables too (giggle to see others calling it that too). I love lil tiny decos. So much easier to design with. Wish we would get more.

😉 Yup Yup! Love me some decos! Ones that are appropriate for my style though. Benches, flowers, fountains etc. I really really really want some brick or cobblestone pathways (like they had in the event zone for valentine’s day). I still have no clue where to put the enormous portals from Halloween or the Star Trek decos, but at least they are there 😉
I also wish I had some neighbors to visit and see what they do with their towns, but too much risk to add strangers to my Facebook and personal life in order to gain a few neighbors. All this work into my town and no one to invite over lol

I am right there with you regarding the decorating of the town, and loving cool decorations more than many of the characters! I have several geysers, ponds, and owl trees! I did not have enough cash for several of the picnic tables, as I just spent 150K to clear land. If they would have let me, I would have bought several cabins, too! Could have built a mini Yellowstone style campground with cabins and geysers! also don’t have facebook, so no neighbours other than Ollie, but at least he gives me clams when I visit, even though I don’t bring a hostess gift!
Now if they would only provide dirt paths, or narrow dirt roads… *grin*

… and about a day till deadline. Playing from the very start of the game and I don’t care anymore. What’s the point of unlocking new skins or new charaacters if they are mostly useless in future, as with every new event they don’t produce drops to unlock new stuff. Got lot of characters that don’t do anything since they are not droping for this mini-event. With those who drop finishing is impossible.

This event is really not working for me: having played this game diligently since day 1, I have gotten every single character and costume to date (including premuim). For some of the freemium ones I have paid some clams in the past to make up for some off time or a bad call. For this event however, I cannot take any blame for lagging behind, but my current clam cost for Bird Beard Peter is still at a hefty 338, as I am still short 9 blue, 8 pink and 4 green. It’s probably gonna come down a bit more by tomorrow (although the lack of exact time frame makes that a risky wait as well). However, after a very expensive Star Trek event, I would have hoped for a little bit of down time, including in my wallet.
I hadn’t reacted to any of the previous articles with regards to this event, as I have learned to appreciate Tiny Co’s ‘corrections’ when their expectations were too ambitious in the past. My pateince however appears to have been in vain so far 😦

I am seeing many getting better drop rates today. Close to unlocking him within like 2 or 3 birds. Others are getting him too (No Clams spent). I just almost got him too in my Freemium Game. Only a few birds shy as well. Just do what you can, have fun. 😉

My drop rate has gotten worse from yesterday…
Only had 1 green bird drop out of 4 character tries today. Thought I was on track for the greens yesterday, but with that lame drop rate I will not make it. First freemium character that I will not earn.

Do you know yet if the questlines will disappear tomorrow as well? If so, the length of time needed to get the skin isn’t going to leave nearly enough time to complete the questlines, considering the length of the missions listed.

They really, really, really need to rethink the timing on these. They have people needed for getting the items for the outfit on the quest, and presumably the quest will be going away at the same time as the outfit, which unless you have wonderful luck takes pretty much the entire time to make (now that they added the Peter task for green birds, it’s the fuschia ones that are the biggest problem)…so it’s basically impossible to finish the quest. It is BAD DESIGN if literally the only way to have time to finish the quest is by spending clams to speed up tasks.
There are 28 hours worth of tasks AFTER getting bird beard Peter. And the task immediately before it requires two people needed to get what are likely to be your last birds to earn that outfit.
Do they actually test any of these out or do the math on timing? I’m serious here.

The questlines more and more now are continuing on AFTER Events. I think due to concerns players expressed on issues just like what you are stating. They know that time is a factor to get the item, so not much left to process the questline too. Star Trek had several continue on for the individual Character/Costume questlines. (See the post below). All we can do as players is continue to express to them our concerns on matters like that through our games.

TinyCo support can say “everything working as planned” as often as they want, there’s just no way around the fact that the event was designed in a way to either fall short within reach of success or be barely manageable with lots of luck and without sleep. And those lucky ones that will be able to get the costume will not have enough time to play the questline. That’s what they designed it to look like?

That’s what I see most games like now. Apps especially. Pay for it or Play for it. Sucks, but its the way most are now. I am waiting to see what he new stuff they are bringing incorporates in the game. Freemium overall is still outweighing Premium content. Though I know on mini events like this it doesn’t seem like it. I am just looking at the overall of the game since launch. I see more mini events the really tight grinding ones. More the you gotta “Play or Pay for it”. Districts are more at ease for Freemiums with “at your own pace”. I think most Freemiums prefer the Districts. I think actually most everyone likes the “at your own pace” better. Lol.
I asked to see what if any of the questlines will continue after since they are getting better at keeping them around at the end like they did with Star Trek individual ones (not main ones). I will update once I get any word back on it. 🙂

In TSTO, though, currently having bought premium characters in the past helps tremendously with collecting event currency. Not so in TQFS. There’s almost no lasting value in paying for items. This is a form of play-or-pay that I could live with as TQFS is asking quite expensive prices. As they never respond to that concern, they apparently intentionally don’t make use of premiums to make things easier. So I don’t buy premium anymore.

I agree. It’s something myself and Alissa have a lot of feedback on all the time and have since day one. Use the Characters more, specifically Premiums. They are getting better. Just not where we’d like to see them.
On the flip side, the other game going 3 yrs now still isn’t perfect either. Lol. I still see lots of tweaks I feel would benefit players there too. If only myself and Alissa could make a game. 😉

Is anybody else having a major crashing issue? My game has crashed at least 20 times since yesterday, no exaggeration. It also removes my wallpaper from the phone as well. It’s been happening for awhile,and I’ve just dealt with it, but it’s really annoying me now because I can’t get anything done. Everytime I restart after a crash,I have to repeat all the tasks I just did. I’ve uninstalled then reinstalled, I’ve cleared up memory, but it still crashes. I have a Galaxy S5. Any idea what the issue is? I can’t find anything in the help section.

Has anyone else been experiencing problems when closing the game via Olie exit screen? The game closes but music continues to play and I have to force close game.
Also….when I do this the last few tasks I completed before I logged off did not count and I have to redo them again. Very annoying!
I tries searching on this site using search function but could not find anyone else with this issue or post. Can anyone help?

I gave up on Bird Pants^H Pee Beard^H Impossible Peter yesterday. I had yellow birds complete and was still in single digits with the other three.
TinyCO needs to give up this rarity bs. They already have a mechanism for rarity – use the longer duration actions. Honestly, what fun is it when one player gets lucky and constantly gets the random drops while another is unlucky and rarely sees them?

As loads have stated, not enough time especially with the drop rates, I have not ayyempted the side tasks as Chris and Peter were both needed so they were a waste of time being there. Only bonus is the decorations are good and not unduely bothered if I get the Peter skin, but seriously they should be achievable without spending clams, or was it a scam to get us to spend even more clams, this time if is not achievable without spending clams and just after the Trek event and spent more than enough on that event. I have had everyone trying to get the birds.

We are seeing more and more finishing him up today or really close to finish him tomorrow. Just do what you can. If it is too much of a grind (especially after the grinding Star Trek Event) then just play at your own pace and see where it gets you. We know all too well the grind burn out from the last Event. I lived it along with you. Day and Night. Lol. 😉

It’s really not a scam for Tiny to push for using clams and hence spending realspace money. All the freemium games do this, for good reason. Only a certain percentage of players will actually let loose of real money to advance more easily in a game. But the more players there are, the more money that small percentage will bring in to the game developers (hence the push to get your friends to play the game also). That lets deadbeats like me (who refuse to go on FaceBook or enable in-app purchases) enjoy more and more levels etc. of the game, because a profitable game lets the developers do more development and live a comfy life. A good freemium game has enough do-able truly for free to keep the deadbeats like me happy, too, so we talk up the game when we get the chance, potentially earning our keep by bringing an occasional paying customer into the fold. Family Guy is definitely a good freemium game, in my opinion.
So you aren’t being scammed. The biggest pressure to use clams is coming from inside you, and you can resist if you want. Just remember: TANSTAAFL (There ain’t no such thing as a free lunch), but good freemium games like this one can fill you up pretty well without costing you a penny.
