What The Deuce?!

Happy Weekend Clammers!

Well we’ve all made it through another week and the weekend is here!

All week we field your comments about your frustrations in the game and we wanted to give you (and us) a fun way for you to voice your frustrations and get it all off of your chest.

So welcome to WHAT THE DEUCE?!

What the Deuce

Here’s your place to vent about anything and everything, Family Guy or not.  Consider this your weekly bitch fest and get it all out with a good…WHAT THE DEUCE?! And start your weekend fresh! 🙂

Just be respectful of others & be mindful of the language.

Here’s mine for this week:

WHAT THE DEUCE….every time I have multiple Gold Cookie Trucks in my game…the game crashes!  And when I reload the I lose out on the second truck, only ones there.  Not cool man!

WHAT THE DEUCE….what’s with drivers once the weather turns nice?  It’s like they suddenly forgot how to drive or they’re in their own little world.  People I don’t care what time of the year it is…just drive your car correctly.

Now it’s YOUR turn…give us your WHAT THE DEUCE?! moments from the past week!  Go on, get it off your chest…you’ll feel a lot better! 🙂

  1. WTD… Seeing many complaining players folding under the pressure and uncomfortably spending money on Jr or whatever to be able to get anywhere in this event. I get it, really, but you’re doing exactly what TinyCo is counting on. If you don’t care how much an event costs and can afford it, hey, go for it and have fun. However, if you don’t want to see an event like this again, it’s simple, just Stop Spending Your Money. Threatening to quit the game won’t do much, and complaints only can go so far. Like anything, the market/players will decide which way this game goes in the future, so it’s up to you. Though I’ve spent a good chunk on all previous events, I won’t be spending a penny on this event, but still may in the future if they have a Reasonable event again (if I don’t loose all interest in the game by then that is).

  2. Any possible way to have TinyMatt come on here and explain why he honestly believes these impossibly timed 24 hour quests are such a good idea? What happened to the three day timed quests we used to have? Those were challenging but doable. TinyCo I think knows full well these are close to impossible to finish without clams or if one just so happens to have goons ‘just wandering around’. Really? Goons have to be used for almost every aspect of this event, so I don’t know who would have goons doing nothing. Plus rebuilding fort nox takes 16 HOURS. Cleveland Jr.’s required task is 16 HOURS – time that could be spent earning those slippers, which takes 6 hours. One has to send what few characters we have to earn slippers multiple times – again 6 hours each time! Its close to 20 hours just for training the 18 showgirls and 6 luchadors. All this in 24 hours? NOT DO-ABLE. Please, TinyMatt, explain to all of us increasingly frustrated players why someone thought 24 hours would be enough under these impossible conditions.

  3. Phone broke!! Got a new phone but it can’t locate my save game!!! I surely had logged in to Google because back at the beginning last year, I was collecting acheivements there. WTD???

I have messaged TinyCo and I have a clam purchase receipt that can be used to find my other game… also I can access my broken phone’s files by USB, just can’t turn the screen on. Two potential ways for TinyCo to find it.

But meanwhile I lose critical time on this event!

Is there any experience out there with this scenario, has TinyCo had any luck linking to games lost this way, and how long does it take them to repond / fix the issue?

    • Mainly… I just load the new game… tap til the menu triggers… log into the email or Facebook for the game I am trying to pull up… then LOAD the saved file.

      • Thanks Bunny… but I’ve tried all three, Google+, Facebook, email, none has my saved game. :(( Again… messaged TinyCo but in your experience have they been able to help others who may have not saved their game? And was there a decent resolution time?

        • The time varies on how fast they were able to relocate the game, so difficult to answer that. ANY info you have from the previous game would help. Especially if you had the player ID. If not, Screenshots of your town progress and the opening Splash Screen. Then … it is just a waiting game.

I do have to admit though… as fun as the game is, it’s amazing how free you can feel when you are not a slave to the game and checking it every 4 hours or 2 or 1. My kids appreciate my not being distracted by it, that’s for sure. There’s no way I’m starting over so….

  4. Wheeeee! I so love getting hosed by the game. Especially when it take cookie collectors off task on tasks that pay no cookies. And then it slowly drops me down the standings because I refuse to pay anymore to get reamed by premiums that turn into $#!+ after the event. I think all premium characters should always pay out event currency and exp albeit at a lower rate than active characters. We invested in the game and should get a much better return from these characters. I am not saying I don’t want a challege, it is just that the last two events it has racheted up. I would usually have the gathering tasks finishing with a day or two to spare to complete tasks to advance to next phase at the starting gate. These last two I have had to play catch up and I play every two hours at least everyday (and I bought all the premiums when released in the Star Trek event). And then they remove any incentive to buy the premium characters when they become just another coin collector for useless coins when the event ends. And I am sick of the “it isn’t fair to late adopters” argument about them not being able to do a lot of the tasks if they used every character that are available. No other game uses this rational for its player base. I feel I earned the leg up advantage I should get by having all my characters be used instead of just the first few everyone get through normal playthrough up to district 5. Well, I guess everyday will dictate whether this game is worth continuing if the game becomes less enjoyable and more of a grind.

  5. WTD… when I picture the “developers” (if you can even call them that) at TinyCo, i see a thousand monkeys typing at a thousand keyboards hoping Shakespeare/TQFS is going to be written. I can’t fathom what thought process, if any, is used to determine what it’ll take to “reasonably” complete an event. I already play way more than I really should, and my progress has stalled since I upgraded the mansion last. Have to do tasks to get masks/shoes, to then get luchadores/skanks who have next to zero chance of getting an item (of which I need many) to unlock some character.

But i think, the biggest WTD of them all is why do i even bother playing anymore?

I’m starting to regret having used so many clams during the star trek event because now I feel like I can’t just give up playing completely.

*heavy sigh* This has been the worst event for me so far. If I recall correctly, we used to have a week or 3 days or so to get the timed prizes. The 24 hours is just impossible, especially for people like me who were locked out of the game for 4 days and are way behind. What’s worse is I actually spent a good amount of clams to get the first prize, which now seems pointless considering the fact that I won’t be able to get the 2nd. It was challenging enough before being timed for 3 days. Also, why would the challenge be triggered before having cleveland jr or the showgirls? (mine just did & I have neither) I just find that really unfair. This is the most defeated I’ve felt while playing this game. I really really like to collect as much prizes as I can but I just can’t this time around, and that really sucks.

TinyCo must not pay attention, the Cleveland Jr character is beyond impossible and they keep piling quests for him. I’ll be glad when this event ends, maybe this will finally get me to quit the game.

  8. I feel like I am to the point that I don’t care anymore about what I get or don’t get. I am not bothering to aim for anything in particular, cause chances are there will be some glitch or issue that will prevent me from getting it anyway. So whatever I get, I get. I guess I just don’t really care anymore and that is sad!! 😦 I miss my FGQFS orig friends here!!! Come back!!! I need a hug!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. How smart of TC .. lets put out a character and make one of his drop almost impossible to get. Then we’ll put out a special challenge and make one of the tasks require that character and only give players 24 hours to get the prize.

Yeah, my dog can program better then this.

    • Heck, the last one required you to be at least half way through stage 2 of the first optional run on Cleveland’s Casino to beat the last challenge (the total run took 30 hours, but it was 24 hours to complete to win).

  12. What’s the point of continuing to collect coins when you can’t use them for anything…..there is not enough space to add any buildings and plus buying basic buildings only give more coins. They are basically worthless in the game.

    Liked by 1 person

  13. Aaaaaarrrrrggghh!!!

I hear everyone complaining about lousy tuba drop rates, and it stinks, but remember, it could still be worse:
Since upgrading my mansion, gurl scouts in my Quahog DON’T ACTUALLY DROP ANYTHING AT ALL. that’s right, you heard me; nothing. Not even a single, solitary cookie!!!
So, not only am I now stuck at 6 of 20 tubas for Cleveland Jr., but I can’t even get any shirts for Mr. Washee Washee, either. And on top of that, Enter the Dragon (the 24 hr timed quest for this week) just started on me, and there’s no possible way I could get Cleveland Jr. without flat-out buying him because I haven’t been able to earn tubas at *any* drop rate, let alone the poor one everyone else is experiencing.

And if you click kn a gurl scout, you know that screen that pops up that says how many luchadors you have and has the “Raid.” button on the left. And the “Drops:” box on the right, to show what items you might get? Well, in mine, the box is literally empty. No drops.

Messaged TinyCo. Usually they’re really great, but they seem entirely useless in this instance. So now I am basically going to remain stuck at this point it looks like. And I’ve spent a lot of clams this event, as well as buying a bunch more during the special (I don’t usually spend much on clams, either, so I’m particularly bitter right now). This is really uncool!

Anyine else having any similar problems or am I the only person?

  14. This event gets an A+ for atmosphere, its a mafia event and I truly feel like organized criminals are extorting me for money.
Just got this weeks challenge, surprise surprise it needs Cleveland jr. Such a slap right across the face. I have maybe 3-4 days before I unlock him. No chance to get this at all. And why has this prompted before I’ve even unlocked the showgirls? WTD?
I have 5/10 rare jackets, 10/15 rare skirts and a whopping 4/5 EXTRA rare flails in a little over 2 days but 13 of 20 tubas after almost a week trying every two hours, I say shenadigans are afoot. WTD?
Not too mention Peter didn’t care for the godfather series as he’s mention so why do a godfather theme? WTD?
Why is it still called the leaderboard, shouldn’t it be renamed the Whale watching board? WTD?

  15. Agree with everyone’s frustrations on the tubas (I need 5 more, getting them once or twice a day). If I’m very lucky I’ll be able to start this week’s questline by next Thursday, but will still be behind on all of the side quests since I don’t have any goons available for the bike messengers, fort nox, etc. Whatever the ultimate prize is (completing the set of skins with Brian, Lois, and Bonnie I guess?) I am probably going to miss it along with everyone else who hasn’t gotten Cleveland Jr yet.

What’s funny is a week ago, I was enjoying this event, though feeling a bit overwhelmed, and was considering putting some money into the game to get Cleveland and another premium character or two. But whether it’s down to poor planning (way too many things depending on the single goon queue, main questline unable to trigger due to same plus poor drop rates for needed character), or a conscious effort to cater this event towards heavy-spending premium players (I just don’t see a way to finish this event w/o spending many, many clams; and clearly, based on the leader boards, many are spending a lot), but I’m so turned off that I’m resolved not to spend any more money on the game. That may change depending on the circumstances of their release of Death and Neil Goldman, but as it stands now, I’m done thinking about going premium, and considering being done period.

The fun to frustration ratio is tipping too far in the wrong direction…

  23. I have never been a public complainer online but have always appreciated and agreed with frustrations I have read here until last night and now I am finding melt in need of releasing that frustration again today. So far today not one tuba. I’m at 6/20.

Tiny I cannot play the “we’re are stuck and don’t know have to fix it card again”. It is like Tom Brady saying he could not tell the football was deflated – and I like Tom Brady. But both the company and the player are paid too much not to know.

I believe they do know their math and have a computer program that calculates it for you based on how much a player logs on to determine when an item is dropped or released so that you will be inclined to buy clams determined on your past transactions.

Knowing computers, software like this is not uncommon. I have played since the beginning and even the way that the town is slanted and a little off when looking at it makes a person want to correct the mistake leading to a person spending money to do so.

People while I love family guy and can admit when I am addicted to a game, we are all pretty much being part of a socialogical money making experiment. If I was a scientist I would be fasenatied by the data. This is why they wanted to get rid of the cheaters before stAr trek, this event and future ones.. So that there data would be more accurate.

In the game files it lists a players information and knows what you spend and when. Have you noticed that certain things will have you pay 4.99 but you are still 7 clams sort, so you spend another 1.99? This is common and not a mistake and I have fell the fool to this countless times and am only truly recognizing it now. Also like Facebook and YouTube which bases advertisements towards your personal preferences, game content goes the same way.

Even as I write the logical arguments, and am frustrated beyond belief will still give them money in the future because I know that they will probably end up having a boonies event, Star Wars event, a proper back to the future event, a big trouble in little China event, another mini quest ghostbusters event with “original ghostbusters”. The list goes on and so does my self-hating adiciton.

At least for me I have channeled my addiction into character only, not buildings because of lack of room and this event has broken my costume addiction as well. All I care about is Cleveland he. And Mr. washee. I am not willing to spend a dime on the Don once he is released for clams.

So all in all I do have to thank tiny I for this event because it has helped me losen my chains a little more and look at the big picture right under all of our noises, and I have to deeply thank Family Guy Addict website for a place to be in community. Good luck to you all

  24. Can someone tell me how someone has 200,000 rep? How about the 80,000 or most of the people with 20,000 to 40,000 that dominate the leader board and push me further down?

I have 4,500. I completely understand people having twice as much as me. Heck the 10,000’s I figure people spend a lot and I get it. You deserve for your spend. (Though I hate that the rest are denied by the leader prize mechanic, but it’s explainable)

How are these people getting crazy high rep numbers?

    Liked by 1 person

    • I think you can get past 10,000 rep numbers without spending a dime. I’ve collected 8740 fedoras so far without spending any clams. I didn’t do the Speed Feed event (no time) and have crumbled the fort once. Only have half the tubas for Junior and am working on the second raid of the Japanese type safehouse. I’m not very highly ranked, though. If it ended today, I would be stuck with Zoot Suit Stewie…. Yuck. I want something with a cat!

      Like

    • As someone with 21,000 rep, I can tell you that it isn’t crazy high. I’ve spent a little money on it, for sure, but I play a lot and play very strategically. Right now I’m foregoing additional rep so I can focus on larger payouts…like Fort Nox. The 24hr weekly challenge just dropped and I was already in a good position because based on last week I was able to guess ahead about when it would be and what I would need. Having the 500 cookie factory and the one from the mystery box has also helped a lot. Got both the instant I could because the longer you have them the greater the overall payout. Play smart. Figure out the underlying mechanics in order to make them work for you instead of against you. It’s not cheating…its knowing your enemy. 🙂

      Like

      • So jwoolman at twice my rep I get. As a freemium player I get it. I’m a week behind because of being locked out so I would expect someone ahead of me.

Heck even OHB I understand as a premium player. It sounds though like you timed and anticipated things well. Not all premium players will have done that so I would expect you to be at the very top of the pack for rep OHB. However you are not. At 21k rep you’re in the top 1,000, but not top 10. And even that would mean that those around you would be playing as diligently as you to even be at your level or around it.

Was there not a glitch where some decorations gave really high rep that people figured out quickly? I thought I saw something alluding to that. If that’s the case and people took advantage of it I wouldn’t call it cheating (it’s in the game) but then it completely blows up their entire stupid rewards system. Maybe I’m wrong here and nothing like the ST room swap glitch existed, but if it did and they removed it that sux. There’d be no recovery for the rest of us.

This whole rewards system where you have to root for your fellow players to fail changes the spirit of the game where we can all be happy to see each other succeed and share tips and secret tactics. I hope TC does not implement this again in this manner. Want a leader board to see how you stack up for bragging rights? Sure. OK. TSTO has it so you can see during events who has what. But don’t link it to the top tier prizes as if there is a limited quantity of the item.

Ugh! Finally got to week three walk through part 1 and came to an abrupt halt! Still need Cleveland Jr. and Tuba and Golf Ball drops are horrible even after all the “changes” TinyCo has said they have made. And now they require a character that seems to be impossible to earn as a requirement to advance in the main quest line. Wow! Pace of game for us freemium players is worse that Star Trek, and I thought that event was bad. I suppose if they add a week to the end of the event like they did for Star Trek all things might work out, but as it stands right now, come this Thursday when week 4 rolls, I will be about a week behind the pace of the event. Thank you guy for your posts of what is coming next, but I don’t know when I will see these items in my game. Maybe they need to change the name of the game to “Frustrated Guy: The Quest for Some Stuff (but nowhere close to all of the Stuff)”. That sums up how I am feeling about this event now.

  26. Honestly the thing that surprised me most was that once I got Cleveland Jr I needed to boost him to level 3 before he could do his ‘part 1’ task. Didn’t take that long or anything, but I was expecting to jump on it right away after all the hassle getting him!

    Like

  27. Yup, just like everyone else said the tuba drops suck. It’s an uncommon item that based on needing 2 luchadors I have a shot at every 2 hours, but I’m only getting an average of 1 tuba a day.

The competition over the goon que does totally sucks, and way too much of the event is based on turning out goons rather than character actions. I’m forced to make the decision to unlock Cleveland Jr. or try to get boxing gloves for the Cleveland skin. I’m going for the Cleveland Skin because at least that’s a guaranteed drop of 5 boxing gloves every 2 1/2 hours. Even though the number of items I need for the Cleveland skin is much higher, I still think I’ll be able to unlock him quicker based on the drop rate.

  28. Still am probably 4-5 days away from getting enough Tuba’s for Cleveland Jr. I currently have 15 but I only get on average about one a day. If I could transfer dirty shirts to tubas I’d have enough. After the upgrade to the drop rate I didn’t get a tuba for three days and then suddenly got 5 out of six but now I’m back to either getting nothing or a shirt as I got one tuba yesterday and none so far today. This is getting very frustrating.

    Like

    • And this is why I’m glad for once that I’m slightly behind, as I didn’t upgrade yet, so I’m *only* trying for Tubas from the girl scouts at the moment. Still have 18 to go, but with plenty of masks dropping (bought Tyson as much for himself as for the event), hope to make rapid progress on that in the next couple days…

      Like

  29. Bleagh. I’m not going to be anywhere near unlocking Cleveland Jr. in time to access next week’s content. If they’re going to change the requirements AGAIN, I wish they would do it now so I have some idea of what I really need so I can at least try to make some progress on catching up after all of their glitches.

Worse, having EVERYTHING depend on the goon queue is making it impossible to go back and catch up on anything that isn’t completed. How am I supposed to generate the ridiculous number of goons for the boxing gloves when the goon queue is always full trying to get things I need worse?

OMG could the buildings for this event take up any more room?

I’m already sick of this event despite the fact that there are a lot of cool skins that I want to unlock.

    Liked by 1 person

    • Yeah, waaaaaaaay too much reliance on the goon queue for this event. It is an interesting idea, but to have everything dependent just makes it worse as more things are added. If they add another type of goon late this week, that’ll really be just insanely too much.

At least they seem to have upped the rate of gold cookie vans. Just need 10 more to get the Cleveland King, and I was out of the country for the first 9 days of the event.

      Like

      • Well, there are at least 2 more goons types they are going to add, as there are two more blank spaces for them. I agree though, it is going to be way too much.

    • Not to mention the fact that the Gurl Scouts that are supposed to be dropping the tubas are dropping shirts instead. -.-

      Like

  30. Just to agree with everyone here, tuba drops have been dismal and reduce the fun of the game. I started out 4 days behind due to the Android glitch, and this has only worsened. My rank keeps falling and I can’t do anything other than buy luchadors for gurl scouts for tuba drops so all other areas of the game fall behind. I’ve had ONE tuba drop in 48 hrs of playing with a continually full queue. Sure, I got several dirty shirts, but I only care about the tubas right now. Part of the appeal of this game is that you send characters on tasks and don’t have to be constantly updating it, but that has changed since in order to keep up you have to update regularly so as to even have a chance at the event characters, saying nothing about the leaderboard prizes. And those are utterly biased due to glitches completely locking users out of the game for days at a time. As a nominal 2 hr player I am getting extremely fed up.

  31. I came here expecting a chorus of tubas, and I am not disappointed. And now I find that the Sulu videos aren’t a guaranteed drop either… WTD? Given the drop rates, lengthy multi-stage tasks (raids and Nox) and competition for goon queues, nearly all of the available characters and skins look like end-of-event content. The event is fun, and the coverage here is exemplary, but the roadblocks and competing demands are making it all very frustrating as well.

  32. Not really a WTD but rather a question for Bunny and Alissa. Do you two feel you are getting the same level of response from TinyCo that you always have. Or do you feel maybe they aren’t listening as much? I know they are overwhelmed with issues but I feel like previously, when your readers overwhelming had a valid issue, they would be pretty good about about fixing it in a timely manner. Just wondering how communication is faring on your end??? I hope you will be very candid. 🙂 Personally, I used to always get a response from TinyCo but I have yet to receive replies for in game msgs, sent a couple of months back. I would say at least 7 msgs thru help-shift have gone unanswered. I know you have contacts, and your experience is very different but has it changed significantly?

    • We can tell there is a LOT more going on… but response is still the same now as it was in the past.

I am seeing on Players sides MORE auto-reply messages. That I know from the many times Matt has commented on our site that it means they are FLOODED with emails/messages. A lot of times they will be when something new hits and players have a million questions. Or if there is a major issue (like the patches for android and iOS) that were fixed and no longer need replies. Those are the times they will “Clean out” the messaging so only those truly still needing help will remain and can get the focus they need. So replying to even the automated ones, whether they apply to your exact issue or not, keeps you in the tech queue.

I also see the constraints that they have as a Tiny Company. Nothing like the Giants of EA. But EA does outsource to scripted Call centers worldwide (that make me giggle as they use OUR TSTO site to answer questions too. We are the first place they check to help a player too. Lol.) I think if TinyCo is able to hire more help… ones specifically for the messaging/email system… things would flow a lil better on that end as far as “answers” to questions.

Honestly, Matt even said this, if you do not get a response within 5 days… send another message.

I have also seen lately some issues that are not “simple fixes” and require more time to fix. Lots of odd things popping up, but… well… I can’t comment more on those mechanics. I’d be happy to discuss that in private. You know how to reach me email wise. 😉

Right now with the Tubas, I didn’t see the “bad drops” players reported. They were dropping as an uncommon rate for me. TinyCo testing on their side saw same too… they were dropping correctly. When they pushed a “fix to increase” drops, I did see many comments here from Players they were dropping more for them in the games. So I am perplexed. I don’t know what is going on, I reported some still saying not better… so TinyCo is looking into each game individually from players that write in stating they aren’t working to see if they see the “bad drops” in the games. That takes time.

Short story long… some things you may not get a response on. (These are what I have seen) Like if it is something a mass patch was pushed, they answered issue in their FAQ, your message was just a suggestion, or a subject matter they do not control (like if issue is actually with the App Market and not them for instance). Other than that… just keep trying. Only thing that changed with this event… a LOT more people writing in… so that creates a backlog. If same person gets a lil carried away and messages them every hour or day… just creates even more back log (and yes… I have seen that happening… TOO much for my taste). I don’t think people realize they are actually make the issue worse spamming messages. Just makes the backlog increase even more… and creates players to have to wait just that much longer for help.

      • TY so much for your reply Bunny. I get it and no offense, but much of what you said I already knew, but am still very grateful that you reiterated it, esp for the sake of newer players. I haven’t given up yet on our silly little game. Am frustrated as you know what, but still here! 😉 My main thing is, when they start to give you ladies the cold shoulder, I WILL BE DONE!

  33. My general issue with the event is the leader boards and prizes associated to them. It’s cool if you want to keep track of who has what and be competitive, but character prizes linked to who’s ahead sux.

It’s no longer good enough that you have to spend a lo of time on the game and personally do well. Now you also need others to fail in order to achieve. Sure in real life this may be the case, but this is a game. Now I have to hope someone else has a bad day/even in order for me to succeed. These are just pixels. It’s not like there’s truly a limited quantity of Zoot Suit Stewies. If it was a physical gift or item with a limited quantity I would understand why it is being done, but this is annoying.

Add in the fact that I look and see the leader has 200,000 rep and most below have 80,000 or so. How does that happen? I have about 4,500. How the deuce do you get 80,000? Did they really spend that much real life money to get it? Or was there a bug/exploit I missed. (I didn’t check this website for a week or so). If that’s the case then how can you still have a list of prizes attached to your rep? Something isn’t right here.

Oh yeah and I have about 8 tubas. You need 2 masked guys for each scout. It takes 4 hours to get a mask for them, then 1 hour to create and the challenges in the casino all ask for masked men too. When I do knock over a girl scout they almost never drop. WTD!!!!!! Really starting to hate this game.

  34. I walked away from the game after the ST event (which I enjoyed, even spent money – but the grinding burned me out), so this is the third event I am skipping since ST. Reading the comments, it looks like it was a good decision. Guess at some point I will return, might still be a while though.

    • Came home from just going out to supper and my game had so many changes that didn’t know what I was to work on. I regret that I spent 50 clams just to sort out what point of the game I was at according to ( the very helpful) FG Addict.
I talked to my husband (plays about as much as I do ) he got access to the estate, young schoolgirl character,,Fort Knox, etc,on Friday. I didn’t see a thing until 48 hrs later.
Our son got access to the fort on Saturday, but he received access to the others on Sunday, like myself.
Seems odd that three of us play in a similar way, yet all getting our game pieces handed to us at very different times.

  35. I guess I’m the same as everyone else. In that I was stuck on 2/20 tubas despite the fact I had cleared a ton of girl scouts. I messaged Tinyco and their response was “a lot of people have complained about this, but it is working as intended so we will not be changing anything”.

How is getting an uncommon drop one in every TEN+ times, working as intended? The fact they have had countless complaints and still done nothing is what annoys me. As does the fact that I was behind on starting this week (as I had to wait for them to switch the last task of the week before to Bonnie as no one had Cleveland Jr) and I will be behind on next week too, as the first task of this week needs…….Cleveland Jr.

I’ve not bought any clams for this event but I did use some that I had saved up to buy Mike Tyson (seems like a waste now) and the AC Club as that is the only way I could get tubas. I’m 6 clams short of having enough to get Mr Miyagi too – but even if I had enough I might not buy him due to the poor taste this event has left in my mouth.

Yet again we have the same characters that can only get the event currency being asked to do tasks that drop NO event currency to unlock outfits and characters. WHY DO THEY PERSIST DOING THAT?

I’m currently focused purely on completing the few tasks I think I can do. Namely unlocking Cleveland Jr, getting the promoter outfit (only need three more gold trucks) and maybe Mr Wishee Washee. The rest will likely not get done.

I hope Tinyco are making a fortune off the top couple of thousand players, because they are clearly alienating everyone else.

    • This update is a pure and simple clam grab! The events have been heading this direction for a while now but this one is obvious, otherwise they would have changed the tuba drop rate by now. If this keeps up I’m gonna be out’a here!

    • I agree with you about not spending clams on this event due to the bad taste its left. I’ve got nearly 300 but I’ve decided this event will not get one single clam from me given its bugs and frustrations. The sad thing is that in concept the event looks awesome. I really like the idea of leader boards and prizes because it rewards those willing to put the effort (or money) into it which is as it should be. But then having a game crippling bug shut many of us out for four or more days ruined that concept since those are four days we can never make up vs those above us who also play a lot. And now the tuba debacle!!!!!!!

  38. Like many others, my WTD is gonna be dropped on this entire event. It originally was enough to make me go freemium, but now I’ve just stopped playing altogether. I’m finding more frustration than enjoyment when I open the game now. And I really hate that. This has been one of my top 5 games over the past year. (And that’s amongst boss, AAA titles.) I almost feel like the $300 I’ve sunken into the game was a waste. But it’s also bittersweet because it’s gonna save me money on down the road. But all-in-all, it has given me something to do and have fun with, so I say that heavy spending wasn’t all in vain.

I see how the leaderboard competition can be fun for some, but when it’s implemented in an event as unstable as this one has been, it just leads to chaos. Also the fact that leaderboards might likely become a regular thing has turned me away. That’s what I liked about this game before the leaderboards, the only “competition” was over who had the nicest Quahog. Haha!

I might return to get Death when he’s available… MIGHT… (Unless he ends up being a leaderboard prize for Halloween.) And I will have to pop back in if the Chihuahua on the throne decoration becomes obtainable somehow. (Probably through a mystery box I won’t be able to afford after being low on cookies.)

But, in the end, some good has come from this event. It has broken my somewhat unhealthy addiction, and has given me a restored appreciation of full, retail games. Hopefully I can get back into the game later, maybe with a lowered tendency to get addicted.

Most importantly, I do want to sincerely thank the both of you for the MANY helpful guides, breakdowns, replies, and heaps of money you’ve poured into this game to get us all of the details over the past year or so. I’ve always been amazed at how quickly you get the images cropped for the posts. So much hard work. Here’s hoping TinyCo will give your wallets a break after this doozy of an event.

Of course, you haven’t seen the last of me! (Darn) I have really enjoyed being a part of this community, and I always love seeing updates from you both! You ladies rock! *hugs!*

  39. I’m really just a very short distance away from quitting TQFS. I’ve already removed it from my phone and only play after work and on weekends. There’s so much crap to complain about…

The slow load time of over a minute is far away from making it a casual game. It gets slower and slower all the time due to TC dropping endless crappy buildings and decorations that are requiring increasingly more memory.

After starting the game, I usually have to wait 10-15 seconds before actually being able to zoom and move around.

Pretty often I come back to my game just to see that the actions started last time were lost and the time was wasted.

I’m so tired and annoyed to see that even though players request it over and over, the game focuses on just a handful of basic characters while premium buildings and characters are just useless once “their” event is over, despite them having had a pretty steep price.

The sheer endless number of conflicting questlines all using the very same characters that are already desperately needed on their usually lengthy collecting jobs.

I’m fed up of grinding hours to collect something uncommon or rare that needs to be used for some other activity only to see that have an abysmal drop rate (if you’re lucky enough that it actually works as intended).

I’ve long stopped reading dialog. Not only is it still very small, regardless of the display size and resolution, but also often dialog overlaps with a speech bubble having two arrows pointing left and right because the first and second part are showing at the same time – preventing reading the full dialog.

I’m regularly getting mad at the fact that the game changes my zoom level as it seems fit. I need to zoom out to find girl scouts or cookie trucks and when I tap one of those, it instantly zooms in without any recognizable purpose.

On a related note, TC apparently still hasn’t been able to fix the bug where you tap some area and move the map, just to have it jump somewhere else.

Then, since there are so many characters roaming our games nowadays, I have about a 30% chance of triggering the totally useless drag&dropping of characters instead of moving the map around.

The last few events, especially the smaller one-weekers, have had drop requirements that were almost or completely impossible to do, proving that TC apparently has no clue of doing the math of collecting. Or, worse yet, intentionally deceive players to be able to do it, just o have them spend clams when falling short of unlocking something. The ever-increasing complexity of collecting with multiple levels and drop rates is in my opinion intended to conceal the fact that the math is designed to have the player fall short.

Since I am reading quite a lot of negative feedback on the game design in these comments, I am apparently not alone at this point of determining whether to keep playing or not. TC might have stretched it a bit too much and will likely suffer the consequences of losing a number of paying players.

    • I hear you Marc. My game plays so abysmally on my phone (it kicks me out and resets my wallpaper) that I only have the essential buildings and currently leveling or collecting characters out. The rest are in storage. I don’t even use the whole map anymore.

Is still there and I can go into it and attack it but the actual visual building is missing :/ out of everything that’s annoyed the heck out of me in this event this is a minor one but I’m tired of whinging about the tuba drops, creation speed of goons, number of goons needed, etc so I’ll just have a whinge about this now lol

    • That happened to me after a power outage of several hours. I assume the game was surprised by sudden wifi loss, even though it wasn’t active. I saw tiny gears in the lower left hand corner and sand, but if I tapped the exclamation point the info board came up properly and also attacks were properly recorded. Funny to see goons swinging at air… I think it eventually got the image back after a few relaunches. No other graphics had trouble for me, just the fort.

Why have all these 8,10,12,14hr fat father tasks to clear one task line when hes needed for so many things!!?? Arrrgh.

Also annoyed that dad scheduled 9 am flight home day after family wedding. I left card on table and mumbled something as he left at 5 am for the airport! His choice doesnt mean I’m not staying and drinking in celebration all night!

  45. Long time reader, first time posting. Seems that I am in good company when it comes to the impossible challenges and frustration this event has caused. I also end up spending about $20 per event. Star Trek more and it is not like I am made of money. I just go for the characters, however here lies the problems. Tubas, etc… I’ve checked in many times today and not one tuba. I still only have 5.

It is times like this where I actually think that they hired sociologists and phycologists to play to our weaknesses. I am actually being completely serious here. They say that they cannot Add a lot more land because there system would not hold it but the amount of money that they are making….. Come on! I have enjoyed this game and because I am addicted to it and am a 80’s nostalgia fan (just picked up Mr. miagi, I will not stop playing, but it is not because it is fun anymore. It has become something else. I will stick to tapped out for the actual fun.

WTD – as of midday today if I tap a Girl Scout it says she will drop NOTHING. So now I guess Tinyco is thinking I should buy the building for clams to collect tubas. Sorry, Tinyco! Unfortunately for you I can live without Cleveland Jr and unless this situation changes I will be deleting this game soon.

I jumped on the bandwagon and bought some of the fancy hedges, but didn’t receive any mob rep with them. Do they not give you any? I bought the bamboo as well and it dropped 10. Is this an issue?

  48. Once again, the event spirals into lunacy.
    For Mr.Washee
    12 Tapes (rare drops)= MAYBE 12 cookie couriers = 36 showgirls @45 min each = 27 hours
    4 Spray Bottles = 4 Fort Nox runs = At LEAST 500 hit points (4×125. I don’t know how many hit points for run 2+) = 50 Luchadores/50 hours
    15 Shirts = At LEAST 30 Luchadores = 30 Hours

Since the night club produces 1 goon a time, these can’t overlap. So at the least, you need to have uninterrupted Goons for 107 hours or about 4.5 days just for this week. This is not including the goons needed for the Takanawa Estate runs or the 77 Goons for Rise to the Top Pt.7 (38.5 hours)

This may be one of my last events. They seems to be scraping the bottom of the character barrel and I’m less inclined to bend over backwards for a minor character I barely remember.

Also I went from in the 5000’s to 18000’s while liberally spending clams to speed up events. Maybe I’ve been distracted by work this week. Of all things, I’m not holding that against them.

  49. I am, as so many on here seem to be, a long time player who has put over $100 into the game. After a pleasing (albeit bug-filled and drop rate impaired) Star Trek event, I was completely dismayed when I could not get enough fuschia or green birds to drop to get bird beard Peter. It was not a fault of (lack of) playtime — it was all on drops. I refrained from purchasing with clams at the end because I had just spent so much on the Star Trek event. As the drop rate issue has been a long-standing one for TinyCo (and one they ALWAYS adjust in every single event), I decided that I would take a break, and see if some (more) complaints from the users would finally reign in the drop rate beast.

I skipped the firefighters event, and the larger nature week event. Came back for this mobsters event…again, another really cool looking event. I’m averaging a 1 out of 7 drop rate for golf balls and tubas. Oh, and I need all those same guys for every single other part of the event, too! I can’t bring myself to quit in the middle of the event, but I have a feeling that even with a drop rate fix, I’m too far behind to finish the event right. I’m likely going to burn my last 220 clams and say goodbye. It’s been far too long for TinyCo to still be making these rookie game developer mistakes. If they’re running low on cash, they should just make the events premium events. Don’t hide behind faulty posted drop rates to force people into spending more money. Most would gladly turn it over if they were up front about it.

And I didn’t even mention — crash. crash. crash. Putting almost everything non-event related away, phone is clean, and still crashing….
