TinyCo has dropped another awesome Event into our Quahogs. This time we are gonna go back to those “Scary Movies” of the past. The ones that send chills up your spine. Make those lil hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Make your heart start beating a lil faster. hack hack hack hack chop chop chop chop kill kill kill kill….
With this New Scary Movie Scene Event, comes many New Questlines. Questlines for New Characters added during the Event. Characters like Slasher Cat.

Hey Bunny, I’ve got 102 reels and I’m wondering, is slasher cat worth it, or should I use those 100 reels to make a nice dent on page two of the movie projection booth? I’ve only got 5 days to unlock Patty because I was a dumb dumb and didn’t check this site first! Keep up the great work, you’re amazing!!!

He has a Scythe Tasks and Cannonball task, other than that… up to you if you really want him. He wasn’t a “must have Character” for me, in my basic game… I skipped him. I wanted Death more.

I’m stuck at getting slasher cat, I have 89 reels , but accidentally upgraded the movie and now there is no option to get 5 reels for 60 popcorn … Only the one for 12 reels which is 60 popcorn and 25 fizzy drinks .. 😦

I do not mean to complain, I also didn’t notice either the increase in popcorn cost or the 24 hour timer. Fortunately I have not gotten the Pumkin Tower, but unfortunately I am already at level 6 Scream Level and only have 5 reels. I am not looking forward to trying to get enough for both the tower and the cat. My question is is Slasher cat purchasable with Clams and if so how much is he? If he is not way too much I might consider it. I have been looking all over and can’t find the info. I also can’t get the info by just getting the tower cause then the 24 hour timer starts and I would never finish in time.

Don’t worry. More than popcorn will come into play for exchange.
Clams are up to Your progress on cost. He starts at 1350 and cost will be what it takes you to get 100 reels from where you are. So that or lower depending on you.

I missed Slasher Cat because I didn’t read this post in time.
What I still don’t understand is that I needed 90 Popcorn buckets to get 5 movie reels, at this rate I would have needed 1800 Popcorn to get Slasher Cat in a 24 hour period, assuming my exchange rate didn’t go even higher as I level up. Is it me or does this seem a bit unreasonable? Well rest assured I will be checking here more frequently before moving on in this event. This will now be the only character in the game I don’t have. Thanks for all the helpful tips and tricks, just wish I had looked sooner.

Woohoo! I just got Slasher Kitty! Now to avoid his questline so I don’t level up (not leveling up is harder than it sounds). I hope they don’t keep infinitely increasing the amount of materials needed as we progress in this event – or, if they do, either reduce the difficulty/add item drops for them. I’d hate to need 1,000 sodas by the time we get there. 🙂
I’m excited to see what they release this week. I loved last year’s Halloween event – especially the artwork – and wondered how/if they could top it. The new skin for Quagmire’s house shows they have more awesome stuff in store (the other Halloween skins look almost sad next to Q’s new one). Of course, the downside (for me) is I’ll clearly be spending more clams (despite my vented frustrations with a couple prior events). Well played, TinyCo, well played!

I completely agree with everything you’ve said, and I just know I’ll be spending a LOT of clams too, as I know I’ll get all the premium characters, will spend way too much on the Mystery Boxes, and after seeing the artwork for each of the concession mascots that will drop the needed materials, I will end up buying each one as I think they all look really cool and creepy!

I knew I should have come here before just rushing through the pumpkin tower!! Oh well, I learned from the last few events that you can’t always get everything. Hate I missed the chance to get GUDG. My only focus is just getting death before the end of the event. I still have all the Halloween pieces from last year that I just keep in my inventory. Won’t stress it.

Woohoo! I just finished unlocking Slasher Cat, when it got down to the last 10 Reels I needed, I reached Scream Level 5 which increased the Popcorn needed to 60 for 5 Reels, so having the 2 Poppy the Salted premium buildings I brought really helpful. As soon as I got him I also checked back in the Movie Projection Booth, and a second page has now appeared, which says a new set of prizes will come with the next movie (update). I can’t wait for the next phase, the only thing I now need to decide is whether I should keep Quagmire and Bonnie earning Water Baloons, or if I should now move them onto earning Scyths for Death. 🙂

Except, there wasn’t anything that even hinted at a 24 hour time limit. I don’t have a problem spending money for clams, but with less than 8 hours to go, its impossible. I’m glad some of you got the character, but players shouldn’t have to check forums to learn about secret timers. I think this is my breaking point.

You’re right (of course), but it still was a surprise. I tend to play the game and usually only use the FAQ when I bump into a problem. It’s trivial anway, seeing as I don’t want to spend too many clams and the cat is VERY difficult to get otherwise.

If you want to get Reels quicker don’t send Peter on tasks and wait for Slasher Cat to attack Lois. At 15 Popcorn a save you’ll get Reels really quick.

Wher are the scream points going to come from…I’m 5 reels short or slasher cat and have all tasks up to pArt 9 finished… And the cats quests get 10 total points?..I’m almost 300 points shy of level 4 still….I play the game at minimum every 5 hours and I just don’t see it.

I was checking the quest Somebody Scream part 4. I wanted to see how many cleavers I had. Instead of taking me to the main menu where the cleaver points are shown; it took me to the movie projection booth where my timer on Slasher Cat started. Now im screwed. Why would it take me there? This is very unfair. I was planning ahead with the reels like you mentioned to do. Do you think this is a glitch? If so; would Tiny Co fix this?

I’m lost how to get enough scream points before the update. I need about 190 to reach level 4, I’ve completed main quest line and waiting to redeem the pumpkin tower till I have enough to get slasher cat, which I need about 90 reels yet.

I also play multiple times pee day, approx every 2 hrs for the 16 hrs I’m awake each day. And I just got to scream level 3 and have 19 reels towards slasher cat. I went ahead and got the pumpkin tower today, but won’t click the projection booth again until I have enough. At this rate I’m definitely starting next week’s content late! I’m still having a lot of issues with the nuns turning directions and walking out of the circle again and wasting balloons as a result. I’d say I’m wasting 2/10 shots I take as a result of this issue, and my game doesn’t allow me to move the purple target area at all it just won’t move for anything… That’s slowing me down even more. Hope it gets better as the event progresses on…

Here is the best strategy I’ve come up with for the unholy nuns. this has to be done quickly and exactly and you will always hit the nun and received 10 popcorn. this works even with the glitchy movement of the nuns. start by clicking a nun, if she starts to move immediately close the launcher screen and tap her again. what you’re trying to do here is to catch the nun stopped which could only last a second or two or if the Nun glitches and just appears to turn in place, this works even better. what you need to do is immediately upon clicking the nun if she doesn’t start moving you need to immediately fire. it took you longer to read this then the action will take you on your screen. if at any point the nun starts moving back off and try again. I’ve scoped the same Nun half a dozen times till she lined up. just be patient and you won’t waste your launchers. I was very frustrated with losing launchers and this adapted strategy gains me almost 100%. I think I missed one out of the last 50 and that was just because I rushed myself instead of using my strategy.

I almost forgot when using this strategy with the unholy nuns don’t try to move the launcher you won’t have time. It’s quicker to just relock your target. I don’t know if anyone else has had this issue but the launcher can be extremely hard to move around on the screen and in my game it glitches down to the corner if I tried to move the screen.

How on earth was i supposed to know that? I play the game without spoilers. So I only come here after I run into an issue. This is the type of issue that makes me want to finally uninstall this game. They want 1300 clams to unlock Slasher Cat. That’s over $50 real dollars.

It’s not a spoiler. Its game help info. How do you think I learn and provide help? I look. It was right in the in game FAQ at start of event. No where as detailed as my helpful posts… but it was there.
Timers are their thing. Always have been and most likely always will be. So you’ve got to watch for them every new launch.
If timers are something you don’t like… then this may not be the game for you. But it can tell you first hand, pretty much most app games like this have timers, limited time, ××hrs only stuff in one form or another in them too. Sorry

I have 9 reels, currently hoping to get 120 by some miracle before tomorrow 6 est. I just got go level 3 and at 238 while I need to get to 600. Currently almost done with the weekly challenge. I’m in a big of a rough before next week starts. I know I have all month, but usually with something like this, once I start late for the next week, I’m always going to be late and not get everything I desire.

I play this game throughout the day, every day. I still need over 300 Scream points until I can unlock tomorrow’s content. At that rate, it doesn’t seem likely that I’ll finish this event. Is there a way to get more Scream points that I’m perhaps overlooking?

it’s easy to say that but what about all of the people that do not know this website exist. I think it’s very unfair to mislead people into thinking they can someone complete this challenge in 24 hours without the foreknowledge that you have given us here. The only way to complete it in 24 hours unless you are psychic is to spend clams. I have sent support a more detailed message regarding my concerns. If anyone else reads this please message support that you feel it’s unfair to trick people into thinking they could possible achieve this in 24 hours without knowing of it’s existence beforehand. 2-3 days is more feasible. i feel the extra balloon job for death is along the same lines. it will take 2-3 weeks to complete death unless you shell out clams. Therefore making the extra balloon job impossible for everyone that doesn’t have a large bank roll.

I get that… but they DO have an In Game FAQ. With a highly active Event like this, there is only so much you can put in the view screen without crashing the game. To date, the are the ONLY game as active as this to have a fully interactive In Game and Online FAQ for their game to help Players. It is the nature of the game. Sorry, but it is. Just like anything new in life… not just games, I would hope you look into more details and educate yourself on it before jumping in blind.
It is not a “trick”, it is their game style and they’re not the only game that does it. Not by far.

I think you are missing the point. I did read the in game FAQ and it doesn’t mention the fact that you will need a large amount of movie reels or the fact that the challenge itself it not possible to achieve within 24 hrs. unless you know ahead of time what the challenge is and prepare for it (2-3+ days to gather that many reels) in advance. How is anyone supposed to know ahead of time they will need 100 movie reels to unlock the Slasher Cat? I’m totally okay with there being some kind of challenging event that would make me have to kill a lot of nuns or put characters on timed events as long as it’s feasible within the given time period but there is no way possible to get 100 reels in 24 hours. So my point is valid. They are making it seem like you can win the cat without shelling out a crap ton of clams when in reality it’s not true. it’s Misleading and trickery. If they want people to pay clams for a character just put it for clams only don’t make it appear we can win it when you really cannot (unless you are psychic) If more people complain they will make a change.

Your post are very helpful indeed and I am in no way saying anything bad about them or your site. I am thinking of the 1000’s of people playing this game that do not know about your wonderful website. Basically they are all screwed on the cat and it’s unfair to them. I’m just hoping other people read this and reach out to Tiny CO and tell them their tricks are unfair and should be changed. My other point is…if they create a challenge make it so it’s possible within the set time frame. otherwise just make it a clam purchase. k done. thanks for not deleting 🙂 Hopefully…

It is meant to be hard. That is a “vice” of many games. So people see and splurge. Splurges on Game Currency help to keep game alive. It’s not a trick, though I get what you mean. It is standard business practice. Just like Black Friday, Christmas sales, etc. A way to get your target market to invest. We as retailers may not like it… but it is common all around us.
That is why we are here… to alert players of what we as gamers see in the game to help avoid a Clam hit or panic. We also share other ways of talking to their players and to help make things better for all. 😉

It does mention slasher cat costs 100 reels right there in the shopping cart. And it says you have 24 hours to get him in the FAQ. Even if you didn’t visit the site you could figure it out. It isn’t jumping out at you. But it’s there

The in-game faq in the help section definitely says that Cat has a 24 hour timer that is triggered once you pick up the prize right before a Cat (pumpkin tower). It would have been good for them to specify Cat costs 100 reels in the faq and gently suggest a savings plan, but the regular Store does show Cat as costing 100 reels. Obviously this can’t be collected in a day without clams and as Bunny says, you have to save up. It’s very helpful to have Bunny browbeating, er, encouraging us to not trigger the timer and to save up reels for a few days, but to be honest- all the information is there in the game. The faq is sparse and it can be confusing the first time through an event (and they don’t dump the new faq into my game until an hour or so after starting an event, which really baffled me the first time I ran into a particular feature right after an event started). But Google is my friend whenever I’m not sure about something in these games, and this site pops up frequently in such searches.
So definitely form the habit of carefully reading through the updated faq every time there’s a new event. It can save you a few surprises. it can be difficult to figure out how to avoid triggering timers, so maybe they need a general topic in the faq about that. If you have been confused or feel tricked about anything, definitely send them a polite message saying so and suggest a wording for them to be more clear.

I agree that it’s kind of a sham. I have played this game for over a year and have never had to refer to the game FAQ BEFORE starting an event. The only time I’ve had to look at the FAQ’s was if I was stumped and I needed a quick solution, or I’d come here for help. Slasher Cat, unless they change the timer, will be totally unattainable, for me. That sucks. Was it my fault for not doing research and prepping, beforehand? Even though I’ve never had to prep for an event, yes. Is it still crappy? Most definitely. I really do hope that they change the timer. I will message them and make the suggestion, in game.

I understand what you’re saying, but we’ve never had to prepare for a character to be unlocked in this fashion. We’ve definitely had timed events, but it was always possible to aquire the characters/items in the alloted time (ie Rapper Brian & pop star Meg from the last event). There was no possible way that anyone could get 100 reels in 24hrs, especially since they require more popcorn to get the reels every time you level up. Every unlockable has been pretty self-explanatory, thus far. There’s usually no need to seek out the FAQ’s unless you actually have a question that needs answered, not to view questions that you may or may not have in the future. Something like that should be placed on the event hub, movie screen, projection booth, etc; or there should’ve been a “View the FAQ’s to learn more about Slasher Cat” quest task. Like I said before, I most likely won’t be able to get Slasher Cat. It’s not necessarily their fault, but it’s still crappola. Fine printing is a sound business practice, but it still blows.

I disagree. Just look at past events. Many times the timers killed the chance. This is the FIRST time we could collect an item to unlock a Character BEFORE placing them in play and starting timer. Yes it’s 24hrs… but info was there day one.

no disrespect to you bunny but I think you feel the way you do is because of the fact you DO research everything ahead of time and we expect you to since you bring all of that valuable information to your site but you have to put yourself in the average game players shoes and see it from our point of view. If a game gets too complicated or surprises people with unattainable tasks we are going to get disappointed and it will make us not want to play or not invest any more money into it. Telling us…sorry you didn’t read the fine print on page 21 of the handbook before you started playing the game, now you are going to miss out on a new feature. But if you spend $50 you can still have it. that doesn’t make us feel very good.

You have that wrong. I research depending on the game. It’s just a part of gaming that more complicated will require more attention. If I play Candy Crush, I’m not gonna need a manual.
Just like life. Simple things need no explanation. Complicated things, depending on person, need explanation and possible MORE research. So I do as the game seems needed to be done.
If this site didn’t exist, how would you play the game. Honestly? I’m not saying it won’t work without it, I’m saying how do you normally game? Do you go in blind? Or look around and poke into things a bit.
That’s what I do. There’s not sites like this for all games and I don’t seek them for games I play unless I’m locked completely up.
So again…you’re focusing anger and frustration onto someone that is helping for no reason. This site is optional for anyone. Not a requirement. Many play the game just fine without it. I offer extras and support outside that. This is the ONLY game like this with FAQ built in. So it is still your choice as a gamer how to play.
How do you think I get all my info. I pull it myself. Verify it myself. Play it myself. Both on test for site, Freemium play game, and other starter test games. So I AM an average player and was before. I am just now vocal on what I’d seek myself.
So again… take the site as help or not. But don’t use my site as the threshold to attack a Company I’ve got NOTHING to do with. To put me into a group isn’t fair either. I’m a Player first and foremost. PERIOD!

Personally, I’ve never had an issue with event timers. Usually, the timers give you days to complete or the materials have been accumulating for a while, so you still get a chance. I’ve been around since that first comic con event (came in at the tail end) and I’ve never missed out on anything and acquired most characters/items. This is the first time that TinyCo has made it so that the timer is unreasonable on it’s own, without having prior knowledge or having to do prep research. Everything that’s been needed to complete the event has been given either in the main event hub or by tapping the little “i” symbols on the other hubs. It’s their game that I chose to play, but it’s very defeating when situations like this pop up, especially if you spend large amounts of time and money on it.

That’s incorrect. In past you didn’t know WHAT they needed or were even able to client until AFTER that timer started and they were placed in game play area. So players missed out.
This time they put it right in FAQ about timer. Right in Menu WHAT you need and how many… by Tappin “i” AND you could collect for it without triggering a thing. (See pics in post). That’s never happened before. So you actually had since start of event to start collecting before triggering timer.
I get people are ONLY focusing on the timer but everything was there for you in advance. Something I wish they did for ALL timed items

Just a side note. For me its was impossible to unlock 🔓 slasher cat. There was no way to get 100 reels. I play hard but not THAT hard. And paying 1300 claims is also impossible. She already did exactly what you just asked her to do! On the October 2, 2015 posting, the very first posting introducing the event, she included the 24 hour challenge for Slasher Cat!! She advised that you started collecting the reels and had a bunch stored up before you got the pumpkin tower.

I have almost 80 reels towards him but saving 120 so that I get both the pumpkin tower and him right after.

I’m doing the same thing! I’m only up to 53 reels so far tho. Since I got to Scream level 4, it’s taking longer because i need more popcorn now to make a reel batch 😦
