As you have all started to notice, changes are starting to happen for tonight… Scream Levels being the main one of focus. (Scream Points doubled and even tripled yesterday)
With the New Phase 4 in the midst for this evening, TinyCo is prepping for its launch. This included a recent change to the Scream Point Levels too.
Now before you all FLIP OUT!!! Keep in mind that there will be MORE options to still get Reels. The Concessions shows 5 Different ones. So you will NOT have to rely on just Popcorn. You will have more options come with the New Phases. So yes, items take more to Exchange, but that is because a new one is offered and you may not even need the other one so much after a while.
Reels are here to stay the ENTIRE Event. You got plenty of time and lots more chances coming to keep earning them. 🙂
NEW SCREAM LEVELS
Here are the new amounts for each Scream Point Level. I am still verifying these and will update them all with the correct amounts once I have confirmation.
Scream Point Level 2: 20 Scream Points
Scream Point Level 3: 200 Scream Points
Scream Point Level 4: 350 Scream Points
Scream Point Level 5: 500 Scream Points
Scream Point Level 6: 750 Scream Points
Scream Point Level 7: 1100 Scream Points
Scream Point Level 8: 1550 Scream Points
Scream Point Level 9: 2100 Scream Points
Scream Point Level 10: 2750 Scream Points
STUCK ISSUE
For the most part, many of you progressed up fine. For some reason some of us (me included) did not. Instead, the Bar is “stuck” at the amount we last had vs the amount that should trigger the Level up. You can see mine is MORE than required but stuck.
TinyCo is aware of this already and looking into it. In the meantime, if YOU are “stuck” please report it in game right away. I will let you know when I hear more on it.
WHAT ABOUT POPCORN?
Keep in mind there are 4 MORE options in Concessions for Reel Exchange coming, so Popcorn will not be the only thing. Reels are Game Currency and are here to stay. So no worries, plenty more options coming to get them and who knows… maybe ones you will find easier than the Unholy Nuns. 😉
POPCORN EXCHANGE
Like I noted since beginning of the Event, the exchange rates WILL Change. These are the stats I posted previously… let me know if you see a difference. I’m verifying with them too and will Update changes verified. The ARE correct. If you see different double check your Level and report it if the amount varies.
The Current Exchange Rate is as follows…
- Scream Level 1 & 2: 30
Popcorns for 5 
Movie Reels - Scream Level 3: 35 Popcorns for 5 Movie Reels
- Scream Level 4: 45 Popcorns for 5 Movie Reels
- Scream Level 5: 60 Popcorns for 5 Movie Reels
- Scream Level 6: 80 Popcorns for 5 Movie Reels
- Scream Level 20: 105 Popcorns for 5 Movie Reels
Now a few important things to note, the increase is ALSO triggered by Death in the Drive-In Part 6. So if you hit that point BEFORE you Level up to Scream Point Level 3, you will still see an increase to the 35.
HOLY WATER BALLOONS
Also, for those of you that have not noticed… all the Balloon Tasks are 4hrs now and Joe has been added to the Mix.

Now remember the Phase will launch sometime tonight AFTER 3PM Pacific time. Normal time frame I see is anytime between 6-9PM, though it could be sooner.

Was excited about new stuff tonight. Alas it’s sleep time now. Great timing though, 2/8 scythes down and on 3rd peter task with 10/15 brimstones done for Death. Just gonna have to keep working on those scythes, or hope tinyco makes it easier for us all.

I have not even really tried for Death yet, as I have had 100% of my focus being on earning the reels for Slasher Cat. Fortunately, Lois and Bruce were not needed for water balloons, so between them and the cat cave, I have been able to complete the sandals and souls! Lois has been doing nothing but teaching piano since deaths house was placed, but has only given me 2 scythes. I am one reel away from the pumpkin tower and slasher cat, which I should be able to get by tomorrow afternoon, and can finally start earning the brimstone.
As it is almost 10:30p their time, which is also my time, I am assuming they are not going to update tonight, so my curiosity about new stuff will have to wait to be sated until tomorrow afternoon! If you are still up and around, goodnight Bunny, and thanks again for the sanity checks! *smile*

I must have missed in the game where it said you would need 100 reels for the timed slasher cat challenge. I just hit the vacuum and it all changed. I wasn’t aware at any point that slasher cat would be timed.

The Store has a locked Cat with the price listed at 100 reels and instructions to get it in the projection booth. The in-game faq does say that Cat is timed 24 hours and the timer is triggered after you collect the prize before it (pumpkin tower), although apparently the trigger occurs usually when you go back again to the projection booth. To be safe, I’m not getting either the tower or Cat until I have 120 reels to buy them both immediately. I have a tendency to tap where I shouldn’t….

So I needed to go to the FAQ to find out whether something might or might not be timed and then factor in a change of earn rate that would double the number of popcorn I would need – a change designed at helping non premium players?

If you want more details on anything active in the game… go to their FAQ or a fan site, like this one. But the 100 Reels info was in there. 🙂

You shouldn’t have to go to a fan site or the FAQ before you do something that the game is leading you to do. You need slasher cat to help get death so the game urges you to get slasher cat as quick as possible and then they made it harder with the slasher point changes. The FAQ should be there to help you understand what to do rather than telling you what not to do. I have messaged TinyCo in game along the same lines. Frankly it is bloody poor on their part.

In a highly complicated game like this… SOME FAQ is needed. There’s no way to stuff all the details in just the main screen. It is how this game has been since launch. Sorry if you don’t like their style, but I at least appreciate they offer in game FAQ. Other games very similar to this one do not and players are completely lost half the time.

Actually, it says on Cat in the projection booth that Cat is timed. The faq tells you how the timer is triggered. But carefully reading the in-game faq with every new event is highly recommended. I go back and re-read it periodically as I play the game (and it does get updated). Sometimes it takes an hour or so for them to update it after an event starts. Also check out everything new in the store to see what might be helpful. Don’t forget the information “i” button on the store entries, that brings up info also about the purchase.

Nobody could have predicted the change in level requirements – that was in response to so many players worried that they couldn’t start the next phase “on time” because their progress on scream points had been too slow. But the faq is in-game because it’s part of the game. Every game I’ve played has some sort of Instructions for how to play the game. The in-game faq in FG is actually much more extensive than is typical, so don’t ignore it. Do suggest improvements to the faq -what should be added and what wordings would be more clear. If you can think of a very brief thing they could put right inside the game to clarify, do that also. But the easiest thing for them to fix and change is that faq. Many devices have tiny screens so there are limits on what information can be placed inside the regular part of the game. The faq is an excellent solution. It tends to be sparser than I would like, but a lot of people don’t like to read more than a short sentence or two. People reading this site are obviously already compulsive readers and unafraid of verbiage…

I stopped before I placed Quagmire’s house skin to be safe, I was also keeping my reel costs lower too, until I had all the stuff for all the last items! I too inevitably end up accidentally tripping or tapping these things so I looked ahead and saved some work on the reels at least!!

Yikes. The changed cleaver payouts are speeding up the scream points collection so much and the new transition points between levels are so much lower that I just stashed every event building I could in storage until Cat is mine. Otherwise I’ll hit level 5 too soon and the price of reels will make it a much longer process. I couldn’t store Death’s house until he’s unlocked and am not sure if I can store Murder Point (if Joe depends on it for his balloon task, I can’t). I also started putting Peter back on his balloon task since Cat doesn’t seem to attack Lois anymore except when she finishes piano lessons anyway and they’re both four hour tasks. I also am going to go back to manually collecting coins (giving Consuela and her vacuum a few days off) so I can leave Death’s house uncollected. Hopefully I’ll stay in level 4 long enough to get the 46 more reels I need at 45 popcorns per 5 reels rather than dealing with the 60 popcorns price hike.

At 45 popcorn per you get 26.66666 reels per day (scream level 4).
At 60 popcorn per you get 20 reels per day (at scream level 5).
If you’re purely a freemium player you’ll get around 100 scream points a day (give or take).
So leveling up to 5 will cost you 6 hours and 40 minutes (per day at level 5 vs level 4) towards getting the Cat, but it will also put you that much closer towards the next levels which will likely still be difficult to achieve and since popcorn will become a semi-worthless commodity as soon as the game updates to phase 2 and depending on your scream point level it might not be worth your time to stash the buildings.
Note: the math is *only* from popcorn collected via water ballooning nuns. (1 balloon per hour is 10 popcorn, 24 hours is 240 popcorn).
Bonus note: The cat *only* helps to get scythes for Death. Other than that, it’s worthless but 100 reels might be really, really helpful to have in the next phase. I would weigh the cost of buying the Cat heavily before purchasing.

You don’t know that Slasher Cat is only used for Scythes to unlock death. It’s only phase one! He could have many more uses throughout the event. Or none at all. We really don’t know.

You were very lucky to have held it to that level. I was doing well holding it at halfway between 3 and 4, not collecting cleavers, enjoying the 35 – 1 exchange rate, when suddenly one session it propelled me to halfway between levels 5 and 6 and now it’s costing me 60. I’m now hoping the next phase will introduce something that will speed up my reel collection, because at 60 – 1, I’ve gone from moving toward the 100 reels at a brisk pace to a slow crawl. Count yourself very, very lucky!!

I keep touching the movie screen but it will not upgrade to phase 2. There is a section on the pop-up screen that says ‘complete this first’ but it shows me nothing but a small hourglass. Do I have to earn all the prizes in phase 1 or is TinyCo just behind on launching the new phase?

Why do they bother with the countdown?! It’s never on time and causes discrepancies…..better off leaving us in the dark…I try to play by their rules.but they never deliver

The countdown is coded in accordance to the END of the Event, which is at 3pm Pacific. So all event, the timer will end that time… but it does not mean the content will release that time. Just more letting you know “new stuff hits today”. If they changed it, it would mess up the final end time of 3PM in November as well as the main countdown timer embedded into our Event Menu screen. 😉

Looking at these comments, I’m starting to feel hopelessly behind. I have only 260 scream points. I am still 30 reels away from slasher cat. (Silver lining-still on 35 buckets for 5 reels.). Been keeping Peter off task so he can save Lois, but haven’t seen her attacked in more than 5 hours. Maybe I can catch up by Saturday. My worst first week in any event so far.

Also, now in the shopping cart in the event section, they have added a counter of sorts for the 3D glasses. When you press the info button for an item, a blue banner has how many glasses you have/ how many you need for that item. It was new to me!

I’ve been saving all my film reels when I realized the amount increased with the scream levels that’s to the info on this site. They still got me with this sudden increase but I will still get all the prizes. I will say a lot of people who don’t have any info from sites like this and plan accordingly will lose out. Just a bad move from the makers of this event.

Sucks that the reels add up to 99 when ur going for slasher cat so you have to get another 60 popcorns for 1 reel to get over 100 with the timer running down

No. Since he’s one short of 100 and they are released in multiples of five, he’ll need to get 104 reels before crafting Slasher. It all started because one of the decorations required 26 reels…

Why do 99.9% of posts complain.
This is a site to help players who enjoy a game.
I wish people could see the bigger picture.
Yes you need more popcorn to get reels, and yes you’ll need to attack more Nuns to earn the prizes.
BUT everyone was aware from the start that Slasher Cat was timed, so if you purposely or accidentally triggered this 24hr countdown it’s YOUR own misfortune, and not TinyCo’s or the addicts or mine!!
The level changes are to help all players and I appluad TinyCo for being so quick to see that so many are far behind the desired place to be in the event just one week in. If it wasn’t amended now everyone would complain that they couldn’t progress to phase 2 until a later date, where as now everyone will be able to enjoy it at the same time.
I look forward to Phase 2, and would like to thank you Addicts for the time and effort you put into this site. And I am amazed how very patient you all are.

I got to level 6 by naturally playing, and just buying the premium items, I am nowhere close to slasher cat, (nor was I able to do 45 nuns that fast) and am up to 80 popcorn per trade in, tiny co have pretty much said tough tiddly, kind of a bummer at this rate will take ages

I have not unlocked slasher and I will not have time to do that. I was moved from level 3 to 5 and when I tap on the movie screen it says I have to complete level 4 so I am confused as I am in uk and it’s 3am is that why I cannot move onto the next movie because it has not come yet in the uk

I know this is easy to say, but don’t take it personally. You do WAY more help than harm. People look to you in a position of “authority” and “decision-making” no matter how many times you say you are not TinyCo. A large majority of us couldn’t even play this game without the work you do here. We all get frustrated with the way TinyCo presents the game and things that seem so obvious to us as players seem to take “forever” for them to grasp. Yesterday, you were sharing the information that was current. Today, they changed their minds. I blame TinyCo for putting you in a bad spot more than I blame you for putting out information that ended up being changed. The game is a game and is supposed to be fun. The passion for the game and the desire to do well gets in the way sometimes and people (unfortunately!) let that leak out. Just keep doing the awesome game you do. Those who appreciate your hard work know how much you mean to them.

You 2 have since the get go. Normally I do a top ten list for y’all pointing out the mean to “where did that come from?” Comments and a reminder to give me clams. I do it to remind you that yes some new members of Addicts simply dont know the format and sometimes common courtesy but you have loyal followers who both appreciate y’all and other followers that have assisted on your site for over a year now. Just keep in mind a majority of the people that use this site do so for a reason and that reason is everything about this site is Amazing!! Thanks again A & B

It is up there it is up there with the…”because of blankety blank I am never playing again/tinyco lost a customer” rants (most people dont have to find a third party site to announce that they are quiting a game…to quit a game)….and a dozen more popping in my head..maybe it is time for a list again lol.

Well, you can blame everybody who was wringing their hands and wailing that they wouldn’t have enough scream points to immediately start the next phase tonight…. 🙂 The Tiny Gods heard their plea. I do wish they had just left it at increasing the number of scream points dropped and let us keep on moving toward the original levels, since some of us weren’t emotionally ready for higher reel prices in popcorns and willing to wait for the next phase.That probably would have speeded up the scream point collections enough for those who were worried.
The Tiny Gods’ motivations were good, the execution was just annoying to some of us working on getting the overgrown Cat. They probably didn’t anticipate that some of us (me! me! me!) would be afraid to start the new phase anyway until Cat was firmly in our grasp, for fear of messing up the timer etc. The real problem is that timer, it raises the anxiety level especially since we’re afraid of accidentally triggering it. Maybe they need to focus on making it harder to do such things accidentally when there are such consequences. Maybe there needs to be a sequence of “are you sure you want to do this?” and “are you really really sure you want to do this?” messages, with a brief explanation of consequences if needed, that can’t be dismissed by a cat bumping your elbow. I was burned once during the monster event when I accidentally tapped on Peter’s mansion and was zipped into the next phase, wiping out all my work almost completing another run through the previous safe house.
The sad thing about all this is that I don’t really like that overgrown cat! Hate the name Slasher, probably triggers too many memories of blood and bandaids from my own slasher cats (they all are, you know). Not even sure I want the Cat running around my town permanently. But for some inexplicable reason, I want to finish what I started to get him/her/it…. This game messes with your mind.

I’m totally good with that 😉 I read a lot of stuff, including in game FAQ and it said he should be unlocked by the end of the event …..was hoping that read right and that it was by the end of the event, not end of 1st week….. I am 15 reels away from placing pumpkin tower and Slasher Kitty (want enough to not worry about 24 hour timer)….if it is by end of first week, thinking it would specify that

That’s the thing.. YOU determine when that timer starts by placing the Tower and then tapping the booth again and triggering the timer. You do still have til end of Event to trigger it… just have to avoid things and dont tap it if you get the Tower. 😉

I know that the new phase isn’t live yet. However I’m just curious that when it does hit will that cause any issues with those of us steadily working on slasher cat?. Just wondering if I should just continue working to get him before movi g along.

It should not … as long at you do NOT tap the Booth and trigger the timer. 😉

I would be cautious about clicking anything in a new phase notification box on launching the game when it does go live, just in case it zips you to the projection booth to see new stuff available. I think I’m safe because I haven’t placed the pumpkin tower yet and won’t until I have all 120 reels for the tower plus cat. But I live in fear…. 😱

I will now end up missing out on slasher cat unless this phase 2 kicks in soon. Because of the changes I went up to level 5 and now need 60 popcorn for 5 reels. I only needed 15 reels so I triggered the cat. Now I only have 14 hours left to get it. Now the increase means I need to hit 18 nuns meaning I need 18 hours. I know this doesn’t include saving lois but that is so random. I really hope this update makes another way to get reels soon. I was really careful not triggering it until I was sure I would be able to get him.

Ok, I messaged TinyCo regarding the stick issue.
I have approx 460 scream points and it appears that I am on level 4, with a tappable icon above the movie screen. But when I tap it nothing happens.

So..they keep experimenting with the rates while the event is live. They should check and double-triple check before screwing our chances =( I vote they remove the 24hr timer which I accidentally triggered yesterday =/

Until a game is live and Millions are playing it… how on earth will they know how slow or fast we go?
Timers or not, they still offered the info for the item from day one in the game.
Quite honestly I am glad they did it now only a few days in rather than after WAY too many Players were so far behind they had no chance. It needed to change. It needed to happen. Rather now then in Phase 4 or 5. 😉

There’s timers on everything? It might give them a bit of a clue, freemium players are behind hence the need for a change and an obvious example that very simple calculations aren’t made prior to release.

Ordinarily no but common sense that only a minority will be speeding up buildings and quests (which weren’t too intrusive) so cleaver count is easily estimable. There isn’t a divisive premium character to mix things up, only 1 character can change 3d glasses count? So surely also easy to approximate. Everybody else is on 4 or 5 hour tasks, for a while the majority were 3 visit, 2 visit or daily players.

That kind of chaos is inevitable and felt intentional at the end of the last couple of events as the sheer amount of possibilities mount but there just aren’t that many variables in this first week? I didn’t even consider the monetary aspect, not that many people are going to have shelled out for an early Death for example 😉

Yes. Each Event is different. They grow and change and try new things. So A may have worked last Event but now A this Event is not even close to resembling A last one. Make sense? 🙂

As an application developer, we test the heck out of every update. We try to break it in development. We get our friends and family to use it and try to break it. We have beta testers using it across as many devices as possible. All of this occurs months in advance of a production release. And our applications are free. You certainly cannot find every bug or process flaw, but this kind of stuff happens every event. I’ve been playing since day 1, and there has not been a single event without some issue.

And no matter HOW much testing goes into it… it NEVER will be perfect. Look at the site we write on for the OTHER game. HUGE Game House of EA. THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS of employees. Games been out 3+ years and STILL bugs.
You have a game that hits Millions of Players daily. Every one own game style, net connection, and device with its own quirks for each. Do you test your game on every known device in the planet and every player game style too? How much time does that take? How often do you update? How many other active games and updates are going? How many employees per game? On n on n on…
I am glad you have a game that is perfect, but there are way too many variables in Game Houses, creative process coding, on n on n on n on throughout every teeny aspect of the game to say “well it worked here so it must work there”.

My own feeling is that this is actually a pretty complex game as far as animations go- lots of things happening at once that can’t be easily predicted because of the variability in how people want to play. I don’t see how I’m going to fit wandering vampires into my Quahog with all those scooting nuns, peeing dogs (working on unlocking the mayor). 🙂 The mobster event was really crowded with all those different trucks and bicycles and wagons on the roads. And I want some character animations to watch, too. At the same time, TinyCo tries to keep the game compatible with a wide range of devices and operating systems, and phones keep changing their operating systems. So it’s actually amazing to me that there aren’t more problems.

I went from 35 popcorn for 5 reels to 80 in less than 24 hours. Slasher Cat is going to take a bit longer to get than I thought it would.

Is the ability to get Slasher Cat going to disappear when week two begins? I have 79 reels (out of the 120 needed for the final two items) and I thought I could avoid week two by not leveling up to scream level 4. I just signed in and suddenly I’m level 4 and Peter has a quest. I’m afraid to touch it xD Do you know if that’s going to activate week 2 and if Slasher will disappear? Just to be clear, it has nothing to do with the 24 hour timer. Just week 2. Thanks!!

PLEASE HELP. Nobody is answering on the facebook page, and I dont want to progress until i know. I dont have the pumkin tower and havent started unlocking slasher cat yet (i work 65 hours a week so my progress is slow). If i upgrade the film screen to the next movie, can i still keep working on slasher cat movie items, or is that it, chance over done and done?
Any help would be awesome!

I’m at screen level 6 and my +5 reels cost 80 pop corns!❗️ I was so shocked when it jumped from 45 pop corns all the way to 80 (practaly double) and it was right when I started to cash in my stock pile😢 So instead of the hoard of reels I was planning to cash in for, I’ve only been getting a measly chump change‽‽ 😭😫¢

A according to your chart it says it’s not supposed to have jumped up to 80 popcorn unless I was scream level 9, but I’m only at scream lvl 6!

I complained to TinyCo and got a canned response about making changes and fine tuning blah blah blah. This is still a complete joke. There is virtually zero reason they could not just introduce a bump in SP either after people hit level 4/5 OR after the next phase starts so when people get through the appropriate questline they receive the bump. Instead, it is quite clear that they don’t care. I was on pace to get the slasher cat late this evening (10pm PST) after 2 days of grinding practically non-stop. Now I will have to consider moving forward with the story or getting the cat (while losing time on the next character and falling behind overall).
That is all just the frosting on the cake after they surprised everyone with the first 24hr timer for Death’s task and wanting $40+ to unlock him, then if it wasn’t for Bunny people wouldn’t know that Slasher cat was 3x as many reels (100 vs the 26 needed before the cat) as other items and has a 24hr timer.

Let me give you another perspective… Reels are here the ENTIRE Event. So Popcorn will not matter so much here very soon. Also, wouldn’t you be MORE upset if they waited until Phase 4 or 5 to make the adjustment to our Scream Level… when everyone would be so behind it wouldn’t help much?
I prefer now then later. I know it may be sucky… but think of the alternatives if it was waited on. 😉

Is it possible that this change in scream levels is not letting me access the next movie? I’m at level 6 and the cleaver with the # 2 is over the movie screen but when I tap on it nothing happens. It just takes me to the Peter Halloween Movie Marathon screen.

Ugh! My Slasher Cat timer automatically started and I didn’t hit it. I have been careful for two days. Nice thing is I only need 30. I hope they launch soon as I am hoping the soft drink is less than popcorn for those reels. To answer your question Bunny, I jumped from a mid level three to barely a 5.

Yay, I got my device to work again.
What I think happen is the same thing that happened during the Star Trek event. When TinyCo updated the Scream levels it made my saved game incompatible. I had to completely erase all game data, which for some reason is very hard to do on this device. I ordered the device to delete game data through the game app, but it does do it. I had to go to storage and delete cached app memory and then go back to the Family Guy app and erase cache again for it to work.

I am Level 6 and it is requiring me 80 popcorn to trade for movie feels. It just jumped this morning from 45 straight to 80 without ever hitting the 60 requirement. They are really trying to make this event hard.

The second week stuff is already on my game. I cannot acces to it because there seems to be a bug…
With the lower scream points requirements, i jumped from early 3rd to 4th level… The quest line says i am on 4th level (left side quests) but when i click on the movie screen, it says i havent reached level 4…
:O of course, the pop corn prize rises but the next movie does move along 😦

I was carefully trying to not tap any event buildings or complete questlines, since I was already cursing the need for 45 popcorns. Suddenly I just jumped on up to needing 80 popcorns despite still showing as level 4, and I was hoping it was just a glitch. Thanks for ruining all my optimism by explaining what really happened, haha!

I am glad they did this but it is a little disappointing how they did this and the timing of it. I don’t mind surprises in the game but this is beyond a surprise. Based on all the information provided yesterday here and other places, I played today resigned to the fact that I wouldn’t be able to access the new content until I could get to 670 scream points. Now my Slasher Cat timer is started because I thought I would get the final reels I needed based on 35 popcorns and everyone is on tasks since I didn’t think I would need them until later in the game. Looks like no Slasher Cat without some luck and won’t truly be able to start the new content since everyone is busy. Sigh.
