Star Trek 2nd Contact 101: Borg Bertram Battles

Hey there Tribblemakers!

With the re-introduction of the Borg Bertram “Boss Battles”, I wanted to jump back and reflect on a lot of cool tips and tricks you can use to get through taking him out as many times as you can, and the easiest way you can.
Clawed Borg Bertram

Let’s take a look at the Borg Bertram Battles!

If you want to see the Information from the first Star Trek Event on Borg Bertram, see the Original post on him HERE.

Let’s take a look at the New Boss Battles for Star Trek: Second Contact.

WHO CAN I USE TO BATTLE BORG BERTRAM?5 Borg Bertram Characters

Here are the 5 Characters you can use to Defeat Borg Bertram. All tasks are 3hrs long. You can start the tasks by tapping on Borg Bertram to trigger the Pop Up, then “ENGAGE”, then “ATTACK” under the Character you want to send OR just go to the Character walking in the game and assign the Task as usual.

GeordiGeordi – 1 OR 2 Damage.

Klingon ChrisKlingon Chris- 2 OR 3 Damage.

PicardPicard- 1 TO 3 Damage

Talosian StewieTalosian Stewie- 3 OR 4 Damage

GuinanGuinan- 2 OR 3 Damage.

WHAT KIND OF PAYOUT WILL WE GET?

Transparent Aluminum Latinum Anti Matter

When you tap on Borg Bertram, you can see what kind of Payouts to expect from each Level he hits. Here are the Payouts. Side Note: He also does pay out Latinum after each take down at each Level. I am still trying to confirm each payout, but I have to wait for him to keep resetting to do it. Feel free to share the info you have it.

HOW DO I KNOW HOW MUCH TIME I HAVE?

Each Version of Borg Bertram has a timer with TEN HOURS on it. You will only have 10hrs to fully deplete his Hearts and take him down. If you are wondering how much time you have left, you can look right above him in the Holodeck.

Borg Bertram Timer

Or you can tap on him and see in the lower right of the Pop Up. This will be noted by “TIME LEFT“.

Borg Bertram Time Left

HOW DO I KNOW HOW MANY HEARTS HE HAS LEFT?

Again, just look at the timer above his head. You will see a number in the Heart, and you will also see the Meter depleting blue bars as you cause him Damage Each time.

HOW DO I DEFEAT BERTRAM?

Clawed Borg Bertram

As noted, in order to be able to get all these cool extra Payouts, your mission is to COMPLETELY drain the Heart Meter on each Borg Bertram to Zero within the TEN HOURS you are being timed on. So you will have to watch your game and as soon as one Battle is done, start another immediately to make full use of all the time you have. Here are some ideas of strategies.

Tap only ONE Character at a time (See tips at end of post), if that Character does not complete the Damage needed, send them again right away on the Battle task so if Borg Bertram is defeated, they can battle during Cool Down.

****

Clawed Borg Bertram: 2 Hearts

You really only need one Character for this Borg Bertram Battle.

Example:

  1. Klingon Chris: 3hrs, 2 OR 3 Damage, so you only use him
  2. Guinan: 3hrs, 2 OR 3 Damage, so you would only use her

Or the option of 2 Characters (depending of if they only Damage at their lowest)

  1. Geordi: 3hrs, 1 OR 2 Damage, so you may need to send another Character
  2. Picard: 3hrs, 1 to 3 Damage, so you may need to send another Character

***

Drill Master Borg Bertram: 4 Hearts

It will be best if you have at LEAST 2 Characters on this one for the shortest time. If not, you will just have to send one multiple times.

Example:

  1. Geordi: 1 to 2 Damage, sending him 3 times (9hrs) will give you 3 Damage at the Lowest & 6 at the Highest
  2. Klingon Chris: 2 to 3 Damage, sending him 2 times (6hrs) will give you 4 Damage at the Lowest & 6 at the Highest

With just Klingon Chris, this Borg can be taken down by one Character if that is all you have. If you have Talosian Stewie, just sending him once would help greatly. Twice alone would take down this Borg Bertram

***

Laser Borg Bertram: 8 Hearts

This one will be best with at LEAST 2 Characters. It MAY be achievable with one, but only if you get the Higher Payout.

Example:

  1. Geordi: 1 to 2 Damage, sending him 3 times (9hrs) will give you 3 Damage at the Lowest & 6 at the Highest
  2. Klingon Chris: 2 to 3 Damage, sending him 3 times (9hrs) will give you 6 Damage at the Lowest & 9 at the Highest

With more Characters, you should be able to complete this one no problem in 10 hrs.

Example:

  1. Geordi: 1 to 2 Damage, send him 3 times (9hrs) for at least 3 Damage
  2. Klingon Chris: 2 to 3 Damage, send him 3 times (9hrs) for at least 6 Damage
  3. Picard: 1 to 3 Damage, send him 3 times (9hrs) for at least 3 Damage
  4. Guinan: 2 to 3 Damage, send her 3 times (9hrs) for at least 6 Damage

***

Bladed Borg Bertram: 12 Hearts

With 2 Characters, depending on if you used the Tips below and get the better payouts, you may just make this one… but you may cut it REALLY close. It would be best to have at least 3 of the Characters offered.

Example:

  1. Geordi: 1 to 2 Damage, send him 3 times (9hrs) for at least 3 Damage
  2. Picard: 1 to 3 Damage, send him 3 times (9hrs) for at least 3 Damage
  3. Klingon Chris: 2 to 3 Damage, send him 3 times (9hrs) for at least 6 Damage
  4. Guinan: 2 to 3 Damage, send her 3 times (9hrs) for at least 6 Damage
  5. Talosian Stewie: 3 to 4 Damage, send him 3 times (9hrs) for at least 9 Damage

***

Cannon Borg Bertram: 20 Hearts

With 2 Characters this Boss will be close to defeat unless you use the tip below and get the HIGHER payouts possible. To be safe, you need at least 3 or more Characters battling.  4 or More should be no problem.

Example:

  1. Geordi: 1 to 2 Damage, send him 3 times (9hrs) for at least 3 Damage at the Lowest OR 6 at the Highest
  2. Picard: 1 to 3 Damage, send him 3 times (9hrs) for at least 3 Damage at the Lowest OR 6 at the Highest
  3. Klingon Chris: 2 to 3 Damage, send him 3 times (9hrs) for at least 6 Damage at the Lowest OR 9 at the Highest
  4. Guinan: 2 to 3 Damage, send her 3 times (9hrs) for at least 6 Damage at the Lowest OR 9 at the Highest
  5. Talosian Stewie: 3 to 4 Damage, send him 3 times (9hrs) for at least 9 Damage at the Lowest or 12 at the Highest

As you can see the ONLY way to get him with just 2 Characters is using Talosian Stewie and Guinan or Klingon Chris AND getting those Higher payouts OR using the tips below.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I DEFEAT HIM?

Borg Bertram Cool Down

If you are successful in Battling Bertram and completely Damaging the Heart Meter to Zero, you will get the Borg Bertram Payout listed above and he will then go into Cool Down for 4hrs. When he awakens, it will be the next Level up. The timer will then restart at 10hrs again. (You can’t start anyone on the task to Battle while he is in Cool Down, the Task won’t even show up.)

So if you are on the Claw Level and are successful, he will awaken at the Drill Master Level and so on. You will know WHAT Level he is on by looking at the color of his Uniform as he lays there. You can always tap on him (by his feet) to check the Colors in case you are not sure.

Borg Bertram Battle

Once you reach the highest Level (Cannon Borg Bertram) and defeat him, he will reawaken at that same Level again. So keep going and going and going as long as you can to keep him there as you will get the best possible payout and earn the Materials you need really fast.

SO HOW LONG IS THE COOL DOWN?

4hrs. He will go into Cool Down if you Defeat his Heart Meter to Zero as well as when the 10 timer runs down. You can see how much time is left on his cool down by tapping on him (I tap by his feet to get it to trigger). The countdown timer will be in the lower right corner of the Pop Up. You CAN’T send anyone to Battle while he is in Cool Down. It will say “RETURNS IN:

Borg Bertram Cool Down Timer

WHAT HAPPENS IF I CAN’T DEFEAT HIM?

If you can’t get the Heart Meter to Zero within the 10hrs, Borg Bertram will go into his Cool Down period for 4hrs and awakens back at the first Boss Level (Claw). You will NOT get any Payout for losing other than the task payout on the Characters. The timer will then restart at 10hrs when that Cool Down is finished to start Battling the Claw Borg Bertram.

CAN I PAY CLAMS TO TRY AGAIN?

If you missed a Battle Defeat and Borg Bertram went into Cool Down, there is an option to keep the Battle going. But this will cost you… a LOT. I do not recommend this at all. Not unless it is really worth it to you. Why? Because the cost of Clams will vary. On the Level of Borg he is and the amount of Hearts left on the Heart Meter when he timed out. This can cost you between 5-500 Clams to restart his Battle again!!

This will ONLY work if he is in Cool Down AND you did not defeat him in 10hrs. If you seriously want to spend your Clams to do this, all you do is tap on Borg Bertram when he goes into the Cool Down and a pop up will appear. You will see the cost YOU will have to pay to restart Borg Bertram back at the EXACT Borg Level and Heart Meter he was at when he went down. Again, the cost will vary on YOUR Borg Bertram.

Borg Bertram Is Sheilded Reset Screen

If you take the offer and pay Clams, you will then get another 10hrs to try to Defeat Borg Bertram again. Otherwise, you can let him time out and restart back at the LOWEST Borg Level, Clawed Borg Bertram.

Just remember, this choice is YOURS to make and a decision you will have to decide…. is it worth it to YOU to do it??

HELPFUL TIPS!!

  • This next tip is one we focused on many times before. It is essentially getting AHEAD of the Battles. Always send every Character you possibly can to Battle Borg Bertram. When you are ready to tap the checkmark to complete the Battle, only tap ONE CHECK MARK and wait. By doing this you allow the meter to move down so you don’t waste other attacks to defeat him.   For instance, only tap Geordi. If he did not help to defeat Bertram and there are still Hearts left, send him again on the Task to attack Borg Bertram right away. Same with other Characters. This will leave them timing down while Bertram is in the cool down period and essentially saving YOU 4 hrs of play time to Battle him. Then wait… once he is back up and his Heart Timer is back in view counting down 10hrs, THEN tap on their checkmarks. This will make it so you start the Battle right away instead of 4 hrs later. You CAN’T send anyone to Battle him once he goes into Cool Down, so make sure you send them all BEFORE he goes into Cool Down.Borg Bertram Cool Down Battle
  • Finally, watch the Heart Meter. As it gets down to just a few left, clear ONLY the Character that will most likely finish him off. In other words, if he only has 1-2 Hearts left on the meter, don’t use Talosian Stewie that does 3-4 damage to finish him off. It will be a waste of the hits Talosian Stewie can make. Use instead one of the others with 2 Damage. This will leave the higher Heart Damage Character to continue waiting until Bertram Cools Down and resets. Unless you want that Character free for another task line that is LESS or same as 4hrs. Then go ahead. But it will always be wisest to keep the Highest Damage Characters Battling during Cool Down. It may make the next kill much faster and you to have better success.

OVERALL TIPS/HINTS

  1. Get as many Characters Battling as possible.
  2. Keep Characters Battling during Cool Down to help save time.
  3. Tap only ONE Character check mark at a time, and wait.
  4. Reset Character to Battle again as soon as you tap on their check mark to help save time.
  5. Keep Borg Bertram on HIGHEST possible Borg Level to get the best payouts possible.
  6. DO NOT LET TIME RUN OUT! It’s costly.

There you have it… a helpful post of how to defeat Borg Bertram, the payouts, and some helpful hints to keep your progressing through the Battles.

What do you think of it all? Was this helpful? Got any other tips you would like to share with the other players? How are your Battles coming along? Let us know.

  3. I appreciate so much that because of this board I know that you can get more than one, or two, or three, etc. from prizes you got in the replicator that already have a checkmark in front of them. I didn’t know that the first time the Star Trek event happened. But the prizes were only statues. Now they are more important. Thanks to this I will be able to get Bertram and the puppy. I didn’t spend a lot of money on clams in this event or the last, except to get all of the characters. Human Rupert is a little weird…I don’t have him, am no way in the running for him now, maybe some other time in another event I will try to get him. I was mad I had no money to buy two of the football player, I did get three, and their row disappeared after the events. I had a really hard time with that one. I didn’t get touchdown Jesus either, even though I have Jesus. Oh, well.

  4. They going to rerelease riker or are we just stuck without him?

  5. The antimatter payout is way higher than in your list. I get 2500 antimatter every time I defeat Bertram at the highest level. I was a bit surprised the first time because I am still trying to convert it into latinum via Pod Plants, and Bertram foils that plan – I can’t seem to get the antimatter count down… 😉

  7. I think they got this backwards.
Cool down time should be 10 hours with 24 hours to defeat the current level. how else is someone that only has 1 or 2 characters to attack with supposed to win mny battles and get the items needed to unlock more helpers?

    Makes no sense to me

  8. 10 hours isn’t enough IMO.

    • I kinda like the faster time if only for the purpose if you CAN’T defeat his level no matter what due to just having one character, it’s a short wait for him to reset vs an entire day lost.

That was a huge complaint last time. That those waiting for him to time had to wait 24 then 4 more. Lost tons of time.

      • My issue with the 10 hours is it’s too ready to have it end while you are sleeping.

When getting ready to do that last point of damage I have to look at the clock and figure out if I’ll be awake in 14 hours.

So far I only screwed that up once and he was down enough that the clams were worth it to keep the streak going.

        • Yah I try to time it so he’s going into cool down just before bed… then that gives me a lil more time to take him down. I like it and hate it all at the same time. Lol.

          • Maybe they could do it in stages.
Basically, the higher the level the more time you get to kill him?

          • I have been able to get two runs a day consistently since I reached the highest level, but this may not fit your lifestyle (and understand I have four battlers):

I wait until the last possible second at night before starting the cool down cycle, usually some time after 11 pm. It cools down and restarts while I am sleeping. I wake up at 6:30 am and collect from whomever is ready. There is usually 6-1/2 hours left to the timer. Collecting every three hours when they are ready fits within the remainder of the timer and starts the cool down again at around 1 pm and it is ready to be collected again at 5, 8 and 11 (easier to collect since I am awake during those times). With four battlers, I always have more than enough kills collected and then banked for the next time to defeat 20.

I have enough of the aluminum for what is needed in the replicator, but have kept it going for the latinum. Don’t ask me why since I was banned from the time the leaderboard appeared due to the Christmas event, but I am trusting in Bunny that they will get it all sorted out from the descriptive outline that I am hoping they got and read and provide prizes retroactively for THIS event since I shouldn’t have been banned from the Christmas event and therefore should not have been banned from this event. I know; a lot of blind faith but my only alternative is to not play at all and I keep hoping that all this rhetoric about “this is an honest and good company” is true and they will make it right eventually. :/

              • Thanks Bunny. I have been religiously. Read more about the “net” thing in posts over the weekend and have followed up again with specifics about that as it relates to the Christmas event and my game play. I know there are a lot of players sending information and I read Russian Tigger talk about using the correct subject line in the email so it could be flagged by the appropriate people but I am not even sure anyone has received it. I am just being patient and hanging in there. I just hope they have a plan for this event for some type of compensation since a lot of us were flagged wrongly at the onset because of what happened with Christmas. I want anything I have rightfully earned so I will be tracking what my final count is complete with screenshots as proof. But let me say this as well — we should not have to be doing this, but I am trusting in your faith in the company because you have never steered us wrong thus far. 🙂

  11. Latinum Payments for me were as follows:

    Clawed – 10
    Drill Master – 20
    Laser – 40
    Bladed – 100
    Cannon – 300

I’ve stayed at top level and received 300 latinum each time. Hope this helps Bunny.

    • It was odd for me… I think my game went mental while I was doing it… that are not syncing the amounts right away as I saw both a 200 and 300 payout on the last one. I did see the same on the others though now. Thanks for verifying you saw them too. 🙂
