The Hauntening 101: Clearing Ghosts & Poltergeist

There’s something ghostly going on down at Rocky Point and I’m here to help you get to the bottom of it. Why? Cause I ain’t afraid of no ghost!

The spiritual world has sprung a leak and all sorts of supernatural s…, stuff is going on, not only that but we’ve been given the power to summon ghosts and poltergeist. It’s like all my macabre childhood dreams come true.

With so much going on in this our first case, and it needing our urgent attention I thought I’d trick or treat you to a post outlining this new element in our gameplay.

Let’s take a look at Case 1 and see exactly what it takes to summon these supernatural spirits to our hotels in order we can clear them out, as believe me a lingering soul is never a good thing.

For more information on the Event, go HERE

HOW DO I START GHOST HUNTING?

In order to be able to start seeing ghosts in Rocky Point you will need to progress a bit in the Main Questline to Return to Rocky Point Pt 4. At that point you will be instructed to Learn About Ghost Hunting. Clicking Go will bring up instructions on finding ghosts and subsequently clearing ghosts. It will also trigger an additional Questline Give Up the Ghosts.

For full breakdowns of these Questlines, go HERE

At this point you have will have triggered the ability to collect the rock salt needed to free ghosts in some of the haunted rooms in your hotel.

HAUNTED ROOMS

When you first visit Rocky Point the only room unlocked to investigate is the Billiards Room.

The additional rooms I’m going to talk about in the post are the Piano Lounge and The Gallery, these will unlock as you progress through the main Questline Return to Rocky Point, the Piano Lounge at Pt. 4 and The Gallery at Pt. 7.

WHAT DO I NEED TO RELEASE GHOSTS?

You will need the one thing that ghosts & ghouls fear, rock salt. Not sure why they fear it so much, maybe they need to keep an eye on their blood pressure, lol.

Rock Salt (Uncommon): Peter Look for Clues OR Bonnie Shop for Halloween Costumes OR Jerome Throw a Halloween Party OR Condom Chris Go Through the Motions OR Clam Purchase in Shopping Cart

HOW DO I RELEASE GHOSTS?

This is pretty simple once you’re armed with one rock salt, click on the exclamation mark in either the Billiards Room, Piano Lounge or the Gallery to start an investigation. This will bring up the investigation where you can see what kind of supernatural spirit is available, ghosts can be investigated in any of these rooms. You can see this in the box in the bottom left which shows ghosts, the cost to investigate them.

image

To release ghosts you just tap on the magnifying glass and this will start the investigation of the room. It takes 10secs to investigate and once complete you will see a check mark.

image

By tapping the check mark you will find out if your investigation was successful. Now be aware you DO NOT always release ghosts, sometimes your investigation fails, when this happens you will only get a reward of a magnifying glass.

image

However when you’re investigation is successful you will see a similar screen but this will show how many ghosts you have released into Rocky Point.

image

You can keep repeating the investigations action as long as you have enough rock salt available. In my first few attempts this was my results:

Investigation 1: 6 Ghosts
Investigation 2: 6 Ghosts
Investigation 3: 6 Ghosts
Investigation 4: 2 Ghosts
Investigation 5: 2 Ghosts
Investigation 6: 0 Ghosts
Investigation 7: 0 Ghosts

HOW DO I CLEAR GHOSTS?

If your investigation was successful clearing the released ghosts is simplicity at its best, just look around Rocky Point for any ghost and tap on it to clear it.

WHAT REWARDS DO I GET?

The rewards you will get will vary. Ghosts drop the following:

Per Ghost Cleared:
2 Ectoplasm
1 Evidence (Common Drop)

Family Guy Coin 2

HOW DO I START POLTERGEIST HUNTING?

The basics of investigating poltergeist and clearing them is in some way similar to ghosts, however there are differences which I’m going to  highlight below.

Firstly poltergeists won’t appear in your game until you have reached Pt. 7 of the main Questline Return to Rocky Point. Pt. 7 will direct you to unlock The Gallery and start clearing poltergeists.

HAUNTED ROOMS

You will now find poltergeists in all 3 of your unlocked rooms, The Billiards Room, The Piano Room and The Gallery. Clicking on the exclamation point in these rooms will bring up the investigation screen which will now show poltergeists.

At this point you have will have triggered the ability to collect the Iron Chains needed to investigate rooms to release poltergeist in the above mentioned haunted rooms in your mansion.

WHAT DO I NEED TO RELEASE POLTERGEISTS?

You will need iron chains to rattle and shake to get those poltergeist to come out to play.

Iron Chains (Uncommon): Peter Tell Ghost Stories OR Mort Clean Up the Candy Aisle OR Lois Decorate for Halloween Or Clam Purchase in Shopping Cart

HOW DO I RELEASE POLTERGEISTS?

This is pretty simple like the ghosts, once you’re armed with one iron chain, click on the exclamation mark in either the Billiards Room, th Piano Room or the Gallery to start an investigation. This will bring up the investigation where you can see what kind of supernatural spirit is available, poltergeists can be investigated in any of these two rooms. You can see this in the box in the bottom left which shows poltergeists and cost to investigate them.

To release poltergeists you just tap on the magnifying glass and this will start the investigation of the room. It takes 10secs to investigate and once complete you will see a check mark, the exact same process as happened with the ghosts.

By tapping the check mark you will find out if your investigation was successful. Now be aware again you DO NOT always release poltergeists, sometimes your investigation fails, when this happens you will once again only get a reward of a magnifying glass.

However when you’re investigation is successful you will see a similar screen but this will show how many poltergeists you have released into Rocky Point. At moment I’m only seeing 1 or 2 when successful.

You can keep repeating the investigation action as long as you have enough iron chains available. In my first few attempts this was my results:

Investigation 1: 0 poltergeist
Investigation 2: 0 poltergeist
Investigation 3: 1 poltergeist

HOW DO I CLEAR POLTERGEISTS?

If your investigation was successful clearing the released poltergeist is quite a bit different from the process for ghosts. To clear poltergeists you will require either Sheriff Peter or Condom Chris. Both have a task to clear poltergeists. It takes 3 hours and 30 minutes to clear a poltergeist.

The rewards you will get will vary. Poltergeist drop the following:

50 Ectoplasm
1 Crate (Uncommon Drop) ~ will only drop if you’ve repaired James Woods

Family Guy Coin Varies

There you have it, the frightful facts about ghosts and poltergeist. What are your thoughts? Have you started to clear ghosts and poltergeist yet? If so, are you enjoying this spooky addition to our games? Any other tips for fellow Players? Let us know.

  1. Do we know what the poltergeist drop rate is? Rare, extra rare, whatever? My last 8 investigations have failed, and it’s getting more then a little frustrating, especially considering how long it takes to get any iron chains.

  2. To test it, I used a chain and released a Poltergeist without access to the Sheriff Peter skin (only need 2 more flashlights).
Will the Poltergeist roam around and be there by the time I get the Sheriff or did I waste a chain?

    • I don’t see a benefit from a particular room personally in my game, all have given me mixed results of failures and successes.

  5. I have just attempted to release some ghosts, but instead I got the Mermaid Bruce error message, from the last theme, “3 limes” etc etc?!
Is this a known issue, am contacting TinyCo to let them know?

  6. Loving all the family guy related stuff from this event. Lots from the fantastic ‘And Then There Were Fewer’ episode, Sheriff Peter comes from an old season three episode ‘To Love and Die In Dixie,’ and I also remember Condom Chris from a more recent episode in season 12 ‘Quagmire’s Quagmire.’ If I missed anything else would be interested to know.

  7. I know it’s off topic now, but I just noticed that my Shipwreck Point is no longer going to give clams, but it won’t let me move it to storage.

    • TinyCo made the building too important to store due to its clam drop. I’m sure they will change this in due time now it’s no longer an essential item.

  8. This zero result after waiting so long for a possible rock salt or chain is ludicrous. But, watch the floor of the kitchen for something to make you giggle as you curse the game designers. 🙂

  9. if I unlocked all the districts, am I able to play only when an event is created? I see that there is no update for the moment…thanks for the reply

    • You should be on game version 1.29.2 to play this event. New districts are few are far between. But usually one event ends and another starts within days so always something to do.

  10. I was wondering after getting 0 ghosts in the same room twice, are they going to come back in that room or not?

    • To be honest you never know where spooks are hiding, they’re stealthy. But I’ve not saw one room dropping better than another to be honest, not in my game anyway.
