Where the Hell….? Walking Joe & Dojo Peter

Take a little Kung, add a little Pow, mix it all together and what do you get? The Kung Pow Quahog event, that’s what. And with the event came Walking Joe and Dojo Peter for a start.  Yes this latest event certainly brought some interesting character costumes with it didn’t it?

Walking Joe and Dojo Peter appeared in our games right at the start of the Kung Pow Quahog event, but where have we seen these character guises before? Well in the Family Guy TV show of course. Both made their only appearance in the same episode and I’m going to highlight it here, so join me on a journey down memory lane as we stroll through the Family Guy debuts  of Walking Joe and Dojo Peter.

Beleven It Or Not, Joe’s Walking On Air – Season 6, Episode 3

It all starts when the gals, Lois & Bonnie, decide to start hanging out at The Drunken Clam and the guys, you know who I’m talking about, yeah that’s right the usual suspects, Peter, Joe, Quagmire, are not happy about this turn of events and decide to abandon The Drunken Clam for a new hangout. But where can they go to get peace from the womenfolk, well Peter’s backyard of course, where they set up their own Gentleman’s Club. Gentlemen? I’m scoffing now, indeed I am.

Lois is furious and as more and more men start turning up she demands Peter knock it down. But Peter being, well Peter, he refuses, so Lois gets the gals together and they descend upon the new hangout, and much to Peter’s annoyance the men admit defeat and let them stay.

However it soon becomes clear Bonnie is avoiding the dance floor due to Joe’s disability and when Joe becomes aware of this he decides to take steps to fix it by seeing the doctor who suggests a leg transplant of course.

During the operation Joe is quite literally legless for a little while, but it’s not long before he’s up on his feet, and voila we have our first glimpse of Walking Joe, he’s got new legs, feels like a new man and is about to develop a whole new attitude.

He sets out to do everything he was unable to do before, and one of these things is karate, and this is where we get to see Dojo Peter.

But it’s not long before this new attitude leads to not only a breakdown in Joe’s friendship with Peter, but also to the disintegration of his marriage to Bonnie. When word of this reaches Peter, he hatches a plan with the Cleveland and Quagmire to bring back old Joe. But how? Well by lying in wait for Joe and crippling him of course. However there plan backfires spectacularly when Joe beats them up.

Witnessing the carnage, Bonnie decides to enter the fray, only she’s not playing games, as she’s come packing a pistol and a plan. She’s going to shoot Joe in the spine to get her crippled man back, unfortunately her aim is a little off and she misses the spot time and time again, until eventually Joe does the job himself.

And with that Joe is once again crippled and peace and harmony returns to Quahog as Joe apologies to the guys and they head to The Drunken Clam for a drink together.

So there you have it, the origins of Walking Joe and Dojo Peter. Do you remember this episode? Or have you never seen it? Do you now plan to watch it?

  1. Isn’t dojo peter based on ryu from street fighter? just like kung pow chicken is based on akuma from street fighter and yogi brian is based on dhalsim from street fighter.

    • The battles are obviously based on Street Fighter but I’m going mention that in a later post when I reference Peter & Mr Washee Washee’s hilarious and epic battle. Then there’s the little glimpse we get of Yogi Fighter Brian, which I will also cover in my next Where the Hell, along with the Street Fighter link as I said. And that’s it if memory serves me well apart from odd nod to the game, which I’ll also mention. But as we actually see Peter in a GI outfit looking similar to what he does in the game in the episode I discuss I think it’s safe to say the costume idea for Peter was in part inspired from this, even if it’s been tweaked to be more in the mode of Street Fighter, I think this is backed up by fact the premium costume it was released with was Walking Joe from same episode. Obviously elements have been pulled not only from Street Fighter but other things, such as the very obvious “Bride Lois” costume, however TinyCo called her Tai-Jitsu Lois, even although she looked very different in the show. I don’t do Where the Hell posts on specific characters costumes unless something very similar or identical has actually appeared in the show as there is a lot of random stuff in the game with no link to the show, and I don’t touch any of that. However when an event is inspired by something that is mentioned frequently in the show I will delve in, such as the Oz event. Hope that puts your mind at ease that Street Fighter will get a mention, lol. Are you a fan of the game?
